- Legendary rock musician Jon Bon Jovi and another woman helped save a woman who was in distress on a Nashville pedestrian bridge.
Bon Jovi and the other woman comforted the woman, who was standing on the ledge of the Segenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River, then walked with her once she climbed back over the railing.

This made me cry. Other people passed her by and even looked but still paid no mind. It took Jon Bon Jovi, who was minding his own business filming a video down on the other end of the bridge to notice and decided to intervene. What a beautiful act of kindness. I will forever respect this man. God bless you, Jon!

The wife is the one that noticed her and told Bon Jovi to follow her. Amazing women, you can see she noticed her right away and, made a beeline to help. Bless her!

@amandanorris8 doesn't matter.... point is the woman went to the female in distress first. They bothe did a beautiful job of approaching the person in distress gently and gave her support. Most Psychology and law enforcement professionals can't even do it as smoothly as that woman and Jon did.
Agreed. That's what I noticed too. Watching the video you can see that as soon as the blonde woman notices the woman on the other side of the railing she immediately darts towards her. There wasn't even a whisper of hesitation. Really impressive.
Bon Jovi did a fantastic job too. He really showed an amazing level of kindness and humanity which, whether it be from a celebrity or a "regular person", is always great to see.

There are things in life which seemingly are coincidences, but they are so incredible and unlikely that it is as if someone purposefully planned them, arranged all the circumstances perfectly and executed the plan for a higher purpose.
Mad respect to Bon Jovi. Also, props to the camera crew for not turning this into a publicity stunt. They have all this professional video equipment but did not take advantage of the situation. I hope the woman recovers . Bon Jovi is an angel on earth
I noticed that his camera man discreetly snapped a couple of pictures here and there at the beginning, but really not many at all. Once the lady was safely over the railing, I noticed that he grabbed a bunch in quick succession, then a few more. He did his job capturing the moment, but seemed to respect the gravity of the situation. Some might say he shouldn't have taken any photos at all just to respect the lady more and what she was going through / her privacy. But I mean, he's Bon Jovi's photographer and Bon Jovie just helped save someone's life. I don't want celebrity nudes, I want pictures of Spiderman.

Angus, believe it or not, many people don’t even see anything that goes on around them. They don’t see beyond their own nose. Really! Most don’t really see you, or wonder what you’re thinking or how you’re feeling, I’ve helped people who have fainted, or who are having a seizure, or are in crisis. People just six feet away don’t see or hear a thing, I have to yell at them to get their attention, to go get a manager. And besides, if too many people tried to help it would only muddle what went on, too many cooks can spoil the broth. To talk someone in crisis down from an attempt, you need quiet and focus, not drama and crowds. He and his ladyfriend did everything right, it’s in their nature to stay centered and get involved. Well done, both you kids. And to the woman on the wrong side of the bridge: we’re glad you changed your mind, for today.

Jon is amazing & so is the other lady. Kindness and empathy are paramount.
Absolutely fantastic seeing Jon talk this woman out of jumping and pulling her back to safety and talking with her, putting his arms round her and giving her a big hug. Something she really needed at that moment. The cameraman was respectful, slung his camera over his shoulder, and just kept his distance as the lady got the help she needed. Jon Bon Jovi may be a famous singer & celebrity but he's got a big heart! He's a very loving, caring guy! Well done! 🙏

It looked like they were a couple with a small child, I think due to the nature of mental illness esp when its at its lowest points, people can be unpredictable. People may experience suicidal thoughts or act on those during psychosis. Most people with psychosis would NEVER EVER hurt another person.
But I think we have to try to understand why people may walk away, they may have been wary of what would happen, and they may have called 911 immediately after passing?
I know I am assuming a lot but I have to try to not people so badly 😬 my mum dealt with psychosis so I have seen it, and I know it is scary when people are unpredictable. She has schizoaffective disorder so its similar to Bipolar but instead of mania, psychosis, or an overlap, with the severe depression too.
I also have dealt with suicidal thoughts and acts myself, I do get why people may be wary.

Just one more reason I have the utmost respect and admiration for Jon. He's unlike other tremendously famous people. He CARES. That message is in his music as well as in how he's lived his life. I'm so happy that I had the opportunity to recently visit his JBJ Soul Kitchen to volunteer, donate and eat the delicious food served at both locations. It was the wish and honor of my lifetime...God Bless you Jon. 💕🕉️

I was impressed also with all the people around who didn't just hold up phones and cameras. They acted respectfully. Quite honorable in these times we're living in.

With this day and age, we need more acts of kindness like this. We have a lot of work that needs to be done, but we can start by being respectful and compassionate towards others. Everyone is going through something and has challenges. Being rich or poor doesn’t determine success. It’s how we act as humans, that determines our success.

Jon Bon Jovi is literally a real genuine human being for doing that. Not only his music is good but so is his heart. Celebrities or rockstars saving somebody's life is so rare to me he still has my continuous respect for not only what he did there but who he is as a human being as well. Kind humble and compassionate. Made me cry.
The lady with him was good too at showing compassion.
It's almost like a scene from a movie --- the hero calmly walks up to the jumper and says something like "Any way I can help you rethink this? Life is too precious, friend"

First of all, people weren't aware of what they were seeing at first. It took a while for them to really take in what was happening. You could clearly see that it took less than a minute for everyone to start paying attention to the woman.

He is amazing with his JBJ Soul Foundation and his JBJ Soul Kitchen (s) both help those in need. This day fate stepped in so he would be there on that bridge to help that woman. He didn't call 911 and wait for help. He and his production manager probably never thought twice about approaching her to help her during her distress. Their only priority was to get off the edge of the bridge to safety.

Not to discredit anyone in this video but the headline should read "Jon Bon Jovi's Assistant Saves Woman On Nashville Bridge" . She was the first to approach. Stood the closest to her, talked, rubbed her back then hugged her. Jon stood back and talked and assisted in helping her back over.

Eh, they both did a crucial job in saving her. Plus, getting too close can spook them to jump, or worse, grab you down with them.
She is a woman and more likely to approach the woman without her feeling threatened. So yes went close first and he slowly moved in closer, keeping an eye on the woman's comfort level before fully approaching her.

I don't know what was going on with this lady and I hope she receives the help she needs. If I had to guess, she probably thought no one cared about her or her situation then out of the blue, a legendary rock star comes to you and basically says "don't do it....I care about you!". What's ironic is on September 19th, 1988 Bon Jovi released their album "New Jersey". This occurred 8 days shy of the 36th anniversary of that album's release. One of the songs on that album is "I'll be there for you" - with these lyrics;
"I'll be there for you,
These five words I swear to you
When you breathe, I wanna be the air for you
I'll be there for you"
Well Jon, you were there for her when she needed you. I hope everyone is inspired to help....preferably long before a person feels the need to step over the railing and is looking into the abyss.
