I know this was posted a year ago but Metallica always has been and always will be a live band. Listen to their live stuff to hear what they are really about. Amazing stuff.
When I was in high school and we still had answering machines, that was my outgoing message (I had my own phone line...they were super cheap back then).
I can hardly believe I listened to a Metallica song - all the way through - and liked it. The first one that I have listened to! You are broadening my music horizons. I may not listen the entire song that you review but I will start. I almost skipped this because it was Metallica but decided to listen to at least part. Thank you from a Retired AF Chief Master Sergeant.
Never knock a band or tune or entire genre of music until you've sampled it. You will continously be pleaseantly surprised. Once my babies dont need me to eat, (breastfeeding until the youngest is one and had all the shots) im following in my gramps footsteps and going air force. My dad was the chain breaker and went marine corp. Im going AF
It's called a double-neck guitar. The top neck has 12-strings with the low E, A, D, and G having the same note but one octave higher to give it a more full sound.
Dude! Don't excuse yourself for having a favorite man! You are the ruler of your own reality. This song is awesome, and thinking of it as the favorite is completely fucking understandable.
Have you seen Chris Cornell's version of "One". It's the words from Metallica's "One" set to the melody and music of U2's "One". It's a live performance. I watched it after we lost Chris and it hit hard.
Seriously, listen to Metallica "wherever I may roam", mad riffs in that song, & a message that resonates with me. There's more chilled Metallica songs if you want pointers, good video bro
This the most famous and most mainstream hit Metallica had. The gateway for many into their music, they transcend the genre and the Black Album is often the only metal album people have. Without making it less hardcore in my eyes. It was also how I got into Metal as a teenage dutch girl. In fact we danced to it in a instrumental version in my balletclass. I really liked the original then but to hear it I'd have to watch things like "the top ten Metallica songs" on music channels. And after hearing the "screaming" a number of times I really got into it and I got all the albums. There really is no band like them. The more you listen to it the better it gets too. I find it relaxing actually. The complexity and the changes are very much in line with what metal music used to be in the "70, they weren't making songs of 3min for radio or tv, they made a song for an album and when it was done it was done no matter how long. If they never made a good song again they would still be part of the greatest music art ever.
Craig Hipsher But when James plays a solo, it’s usual very choice. I love Kirk, but I sometimes feel that James takes the quality of the song into consideration and his solos end up being more melodic as a result. Kirk is (sometimes) all speed.
Favorite Metallica song of all time - Fade to Black. It has that heavy Metallica feel with so much emotion behind it, I swear it makes you feel like crying
Oh, Metallica.... you want thrash, they deliver. Heavy metal? Done. Groovy, bluesy, crunchy... it's there. Composed heavy prog metal? Yessir. Country song? They've got one. Stripper tune? Of course, 'Devil's Dance'. Old sailor's sea shanty that'll make you cry? Yup. Concert with a symphony orchestra? probably the best one out there (S&M concert). Nu-metal with snares that sound like pots and pans? Yes, but don't go there, it'll make your ears bleed. it's the only thing (St. Anger) that's really theirs and really not listenable. And before anyone gets into the post-Black album trashfest, it's still GOOD MUSIC, it's just not THRASH METAL. Change the names and it's still multiple platinum grade material (except St.Inker).
@@mfree80286 wasn't really the correct response for what I said, but okay. I don't think St. Anger is as bad as people say it is. Sure, the album is far different from the rest of their work, and the vocals and production are a bit stale, but the songs sort of groove amongst each other.
The double guitar was referred to as a Supro by James Hetfield in the film. It was used by Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. It's made by Gibson guitars. The top neck of it has 12 strings. The bottom neck has 6 strings. The 12 strings has a fuller and more developed sound. James Hetfield wanted a more layered effect on "Nothing Else Matters" with the acoustic guitars, thus the 12 string usage.
This is the sixth or seventh video I've seen on your RUclips channel. I LOVE Metallica. They are awesome. I don't think Metallica ever puts out a bad song.. Absolutely #ThankYouForYourServices Veterans #SomeGaveAll
You should find A Year and a half in the life of Metallica on Dvd. It was where the footage for this video came from. It also documents the making of the black album and the tour that went with it. Great stuff!
The Metallica catalog of music is quite extensive. you could do a video from them every week for a year and you wouldn't go wrong.. just saying you can't go wrong with Metallica.
I’m realizing that I could say, “This is one of my favorite Metallica songs” to just about every one of your Metallica reactions. They haven’t done much I don’t like. Can you please react to Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold?
This video is from the documentary film "A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica"... as they were recording their self-titled album "Metallica" aka "The Black Album" It's really enjoyable to watch that process, especially with these boys back in the early 90's. 🎤🎵🎸🎶 P.S. I've lost count to how many weddings I attended that this was the song for the bride & groom's first dance together. 💓
It is, indeed, called a double neck guitar. Nothing fancy. There are different brands that have their versions, but in the end, it's a double neck guitar. There are, also, triple neck guitars. And if you want to listen to Michael Angelo Batio...there are quadruple neck guitars and he's a fucking beast.
Funny fact, Kirk Hammett is not playing the guitar on this sing (but the whole band is in the video, so it's maybe a reahersal for them tour)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All work is by: James Hetfield (vocals/rhythm and lead guitars), Jason Newsted (bass guitar/backing vocals), Lars Ulrich (drums) and live orchestra directed by Michael Kamen (R.I.P. MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!!!!)
SO GLAD you did this song. Been waiting. I knew you'd love it! And its never too late to learn how to play guitar my bruh. I started recently. Start with a really good basic set. I started w/ Keith Urban for beginner set. It includes beginner CD, guitar, picks and cord info. 💕✌🏼🎶 Try "Saint Anger - (Offical Vid) by Metallica."
Should definitely learn to play some guitar, dude. You won’t regret it. That’s called a “double neck” guitar, and they’re used so a guitar player can switch between multiple types of guitar or different tunings when playing live. Common types include the 12 string/6 string variants, bass/guitar variants, and fretted/fretless versions.
Well if you like Rage Against the Machine this would be a great song to react to it's called pistol grip pump it's a cover that rage does and it's so lit you would not believe!!!
If you wanna hear a good solo.. And overall GREAT FREAKING SONG Listen to House of Broken Love by Great White. I LOVE YOUR REACTION TO THIS. Its one of my favorites as well..
My favorite Metallica song is Enter Sandman. You really need to react to it please. Also I’d love it if you reacted to Snuff by Slipknot( acoustic w just Corey Taylor works). Preachin Blues by Larkin Poe. Southern bluesy. Bother by Stone Sour. Since Been Loving You LED Zeppelin. Voodoo Child Stevie Ray Vaughn.
If you want a bad-ass Metallica song, listen to: Creeping Death live from Moscow 1991 (there is actually one reason why you shouldnt do it, your neck might hurt after the head banging ^^). If you want a Metallica song thats trully amazing and never gets boring listen to: The Four Horseman. If you want another bad-ass song that you wont forget for the next 168 hours listen to: The Shortest Straw. Honestly Creeping Death live from Moscow, is a must have, sooner or later you will do it, so just do it now! I subbed 2 or 3 weeks ago, and so far youre amazing, keep up the gut work (no i am not germain).
What my favorite Metallica song is? Man, that's like asking what flavor fried chicken is my favorite! Who cares, as long as it's fried chicken! Eh, I mean Metallica. lol
I respect the heck out of these guys' talent, and most of their stuff, I like, but almost every Metallica song I've loved has been off the Black album. I'm more of a symphonic metal person though, so don't gauge metal off of me. I'm still the type that will give a song I've never heard a chance though, especially from a group this awesome.
I know this was posted a year ago but Metallica always has been and always will be a live band. Listen to their live stuff to hear what they are really about. Amazing stuff.
Nothing gives me the feels like the guitar solo from The Unforgiven.

That's fantastic! My Dad's a retired AF Chief too and he'd never get this.

That guitar is a Gibson EDS-1275. It’s a twelve string guitar on top of a six string. It’s a $25,000 instrument.
Amd its a sexy as hell guitar. If you know how to play and coax the right sound out of it, it gets the ladies excited
My all time favorite Metallica song!
It's called a double-neck guitar. The top neck has 12-strings with the low E, A, D, and G having the same note but one octave higher to give it a more full sound.

Metallica is amazing live! Seen them in Atlanta with Godsmack. What a show.

React to Metallica - Creeping death live in Moscow 1991 pls BUT LIVE
Metallica live in Moscow 1991 Enter Sandman.. That video will blow away. There are a GAZILLION FANS in attendance, they look like a swarm of Ants.👊🤘✌️
The following they had back then they still have today. They are true legends of rock.
James Hetfield's best solo ever. This was his baby, and he wanted it delivered. He wanted the solo, and he fucking SMASHED IT! God I love it!
Another banger reaction. Now its time for creeping death live. Any concert. But preferably Moscow 91
Great reaction. I love how diverse your channel is becoming.

This song hurts me even more, because I lost 2 very close friends in a car accident & both were huge metallica fans :C

Metallica - Fade To Black 🖤
First song I learned on guitar! 🤘🏻
You're underrated my man
Please react to Epica - Sancta Terra ft. Floor Jansen. ♥
It's a double neck guitar. Often tuned to accomodate particular sounds for change ups mid tune (ie one neck for lead/rythm, or particular solo)
It is actually my favorite metallica song too.
You like the double neck guitar? Check out the video for Cheap Trick' s "The Flame" with the five neck guitar.
I love how quick you immediately wanted to go get a lighter. XD

Double-neck guitar. In this case one normal 6-string neck and above that a 12-string neck, which has double-string choruses for a fuller sound...
Try them live in Moscow , Enter Sandman
James Hetfield is playing a combination 12-string & 6- string guitar....it makes it easier for the guitarist to switch back and forth as needed!!!
