Awesome 👏 Thank you so much.. i haven’t tried it with a Tortilla press till now.. so let me know how it turns out... if they are even as nearly good.. i’ll buy one for myself 👍👍😀
Use water liberally even when dry roasting. Better still add a little oil to the pan like frying pancakes very little. Not ghee water. Use the gum in the cassava to your advantage. Make sure it is cassava flour and not cassava starch which is very different although some people say it is the same.it is not. Cassava starch has no fibre and will cause stomach problems such as constipation.
Hello. I would like to know if I can make this without chickpea and coconut flours?
4 года назад+4
Hey there.... yes you can make this without both the flours as well... this was my very first recipe for the youtube channel - over a period of time I improvised it & even personally i dont add chickpea or coconut flour anymore... & it turns out just fine. Do let me know how it turns out for you? Cheers!
Love the idea of chickpeas to bring the protein content up. What was your reason for adding coconut flour . Coconut is very potent and changes the flavour. What was the reason for using olive oil. Coconut oil is good and help the community. Soya or any vegetable oil is good What was the reason for ghee. Too many flavours enjoy the cassava. Appears as though you don't like it. Everything takes time for the taste buds to enjoy

Thank you. Vegetable oil or Soya do not factor under clean or Paleo eating and hence i do not use them in any of my preperations. Ghee is an Indian way to make the tortillas. It adds lovely flavour and gives a good lift + softness to the tortillas.

Coconut Flour was is rich in fibre and is great for digestion and heart health. However it can be omitted as i have made this recipe multiple times to know that it may or may not be needed. 😀
This is the only one I have seen yet that does not have leavening that gets cooked all the way through. I appreciate it very much I don't like to eat gooey and I don't like baking powder or Yeast that much. And you did a nice job ☺ I am unable to eat garbanzo flour on another video I saw an African woman making something called bam. It only seemed to have cassava flour. No water added and somehow it all came together as a solid. I thought it might have been made from moist cassava root. But do you know if I could make this recipe that you have shared, with only cassava? Thank you very much

Hi… thank you… you can easily make it using only cassava flour… while adding water use boiling hot water… just watch the amount of water u add… mix with a spoon & let the mixture sit with a covered solid lid for 20 mins or until you can touch it with ur hands easily… then knead it in & make ur roti… hope this helps…
Can you please give the recipe when using only cassava flour
3 года назад+1
Hey just omit the other flours and use boiling hot water instead of warm of room temp water… mix with spoon and cover the dough for 20 mins or until you can easily touch it by your hands.. knead the dough and roll out the tortillas … this will work 100%… cheers!
Hey no its not! I think its there in the written recipe, if not I’ll modify it... thank you for pointing out... however you can make these without besan & the coconut flour & they will still turn out really good! I have personally stopped using besan & coconut flour long back... looks like i could also make an updated video :) Cheers!

No baking powder? And can I make it without chickpea and coconut flour so I use 100% cassava flour?
4 года назад
No baking powder at all... yes... you can make it without both... just 100% cassava... i just like the taste better with coconut flour added... just neutralises it... but i hv made it without both several times... do let me know how they turn out... 🤘🤘🤘
I want to ask you more questions if don't mind. Did you just use regular room temperature water or warm water? Did the texture of that tortilla gummy/chewy? And how to prevent the tortilla from drying out and breakable? Thank you for replying btw.
4 года назад
Sure.... no worries at all... i usually warm my water for 30 seconds in the microwave if i am using only cassava flour.... the first tortilla is always a lil hard as compared to the subsequent ones - but in general they are all soft and nice... the tortilla dries out only the next day... the same day it remains good... i also make the dough and cover it with a cloth for about 10 mins before I start using them...
Can I use tapioca starch instead of cassava flour ???
4 года назад+1
Hey there.. i am afraid you cant... though they come from the same plant tapioca is the starch made out of the root and cassava is the flour made out of the fruit... they have very different textures and properties and are not interchangeable... hope this helps... cheers!!!
if I omit the coconut and chickpea flour, will it just be the 1.5 cups of cassava flour? or do I need to substitute the other 4 tbsp of coconut and chickpea flour with the cassava flour? Thanks :)
3 года назад
Just keep 1.5 cups of cassava flour… you might need to adjust the amount of water you add to the flour but it should work… try using warm water…
It isint! But if you see the description below i have mentioned that you can sub it with avocado or coconut oil. I forgot to mention it while making the video. And i realised that its not mentioned in the written recipe so just updated that after your comment. Thanks for pointing out.
What temperature was the heat/stove,if you don't mind me asking?Cheers.
5 лет назад+1
Sure... umm.. i kept the temperature on the medium heat all the time... (i dont have a number if thats what you are asking) i have used a regular induction electric cooktop (as is also visibile in the video) ... also the thing to note is the 2nd and subsequent tortillas turn out much better than the first coz by the time you cook the 2nd the stove is adequately heated which helps in cooking it well and creating the puff.. (when using electric cooktops that is) hope this helps.. 🤟🤟🤟
Great i love I have I can’t eat nothing with gluten.

Thank you Sandra.. neither can i :) and this cassava tortilla tastes just like even better than your wheat ones.. you can also choose to omit chickpea flour if you cant tolerate that as well.. will make absolutely no difference... :)
Hi there, yes we are well aware that ghee is not Vegan, the written recipe & the video notes give the substitutes. We forgot to record it in the video. Also the point of this video is educate you how to make cassava tortilla which is does beautifully. :) Cheers!
@ the title says vegan. Maybe it ought to say optional vegan variation. As the video literally has the refined product of someone's breastmilk in it.

Thanks for your feedback. :) Our aim here is to give as many options from a recipe as possible and not to propagate a certain movement. Our aim really here is to show how to make the tortillas. As our channel title suggests we are The Paleo Palate Cafe and we are more about being Paleo than being anything else. We love using ghee in as many recipes as possible and recommend alternatives for those who do not prefer the usage of ghee. We are all naturals and all Paleo and that is our only goal. We respect all other diet preferences and choices but we are more about being Paleo here. Cheers!
Just mentioning this since it seems like others hadn't realized. Quick correction, cassava (also known as Yuca or Manioc) is native to the Americas
Awesome recipe dear...Subscribed

@ thanks so much for your quick reply! I am already on Amazon to purchase. I'm trying amafil brand
Awesome… let me know how it turns out? 😀
@ hi! My order came. My cassava flour looks almost like a meal. Would this be correct? In other words, it is coarse texture
Hello… it should have a fine smooth texture just like regular flour… not coarse at alll
How about plain boiled cassava has it got same benefit as flour.
Hi...is it ok if i skip the coconut flour?
Yes totally, i have made it several times without it... if you make them let me know how it turns out 😀
@ thanks a lot ❤❤

chickpea flour is not allowed in AIP
Yes its not. You can remove it out while keeping it AIP. The full blog post mentions that. Hope you enjoy making it. :)
Besan is not allowed in paleo right

Can you give me a link for the cassava flour pls, as I cannot buy in my area. Thanks
Sure.. i usually buy the brand Ottos or Anthonys from amazon. where are you from - i can maybe look for cassava flour in an area closer to you.

Add water to the cassava cake just sprinkle water on top
Manioc is the original from India dear. It is India which started the civilization and then spread to the whole world.

Sub ghee with coconut oil. You should be fine, i think my written blog has that info. :)
Omit oil
