Arthur may have been the muscle but he was arguably one of the smartest in the gang as well. It’s pretty clear that he was skeptical of both the Grays and Braithwaite’s supposedly not having a clue that they were being played. Turns out he was right that they did know. However no one listens to Arthur.
Arthur may not be smart, as in he's not knowledgeable about specific circumstances such as how to talk himself out of situations, science, art, or even history, but his area of expertise is in people. He can read almost everyone like they're an open book. It makes him the best option for a big brother type for the gang, as he can snuff out problems like Micah before they get outta hand. The problem is that he's not in charge, so Dutch, a smart man yet an unwise man, is fooled by a threat such as Micah.

The Hatfield- McCoy feud isn’t the only rival families feud in the US but it is the most famous, right alongside the Donner Party and the Earp brothers vs the Clanton/McLaury brothers. It’s especially ironic seeing Arthur, Dutch and Bill get effectively deputized in Rhodes seeing how the same thing happened with Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan Earp in Tombstone, Arizona.
@@TheMickytheboss The Hatfield-McCoy feud as inspiration makes no sense, as they weren't plantation owners and they solely feuded because the Hatfields were confederation and the McCoy's confederacy. Them being plantation owners was never central to the overarching conflict so who gives a shit? The connective tissue is just "two families locked in a vendetta that eventually turns deadly". That's it. This isn't a hard concept to grasp.

fun fact the Grays and Braithewaite feud is very similar to a true story Im assuming that the rdr2 feud is based on the true story, but im not really sure, in the true story there is even a and I quote this from a history show "a romeo and Juliet story between the two families". I could go on and on about the similarities, but I won't.
Hey, Fizhy, thanks for another great lore video on this beautiful game! I'd love to see a video about the weapons of RDR2 with historical context (realism of customization etc.) in the future. Keep on the good work, mate.
There are a lot of historical feuds this could be influenced by. But the Jones-Liddell feud seems to be what most agree is the primary inspiration. Many, many family feuds in 19th century America.
Just wanted to mention, during the raid of Braithwaite manner you can find a letter from Catherine to Angelo talking about how the Grays and Braithwaites have been getting along for some time.....
I just re-read the letter and it seems like Cathrine is talking about the Braithwaites and the Brontes, not the Braithwaites and the Grays. I think that we can tell that the Grays and the Braithwaites were not on good terms based on how quickly they are willing to use the gang to screw the other one over.
Hey Fizhy, can you do a video about the gunstore owner in Rhodes? He’s keeping there a boy captive in his basement and he also forces him to wear a sailor outfit. I wonder if there’s more to it than just him being delusional. (I found him there after the epilogue).
I dont know if it was intentional, but Arthur in chapter 3 makes fun of Penelope and Beau by calling their affair an "inbred retelling of Romeo and Juliet." In the original play, both families suffer and lose loved ones because of their pointless feud, and in RDR2, both the Gray's and Braithwaites lose a lot of loved ones during their falling out with the Van Der Linde gang because of a pointless feud.
7:08 fun fact; people used a mod and saw that Micah appears to look in the snipers direction when he's (sniper) loaded in. As a result, there's a new semi-accepted fan theory that Micah set this up.
i believe Micah might have rode with Colm at some point before he met Dutch. Since Micah is always focused on self preservation he must’ve realized that Dutch’s Boys were far more formidable and switched sides as a result
Honestly this just feels like people trying to pin the blame for everything on Micah, scapegoating him and denying all the flaws and failures of the gang itself.
Nice video, Fizhy. Unrelated topic but I've made 2 theories on the time traveler and his mural. Both of them are posted in r/reddeadmysteries, the last one was posted 2 days ago and the other is 5 months old. Anyway, all the best ⏳
these rdr2 videos makes me become addicted to the game, ive touched the game after like a year because i gave the disc to my friend and ive been playing the game for a solid amount of time. (i just massacre random towns instead of playing the game multiple times)
It's honestly really interesting seeing the remnants of the Jacobite conflict still being played out at this time in America, and the age-old conflict between Scotland and Ireland vs England, like Sean constantly giving Arthur shit by calling him "English" and "King Arthur" (who was technically Welsh I think), and how the Grays are all proud of being Scottish (while having actually been loyalists, so in the eyes of a lot of Scottish folks at the time, traitors). People coming to a new world for a fresh start but bringing old grudges with them. It's personally interesting for me because I have a bit of family history with the Jacobite rebellion, apparently my main ancestor (great x6 or 7 grandfather) from Scotland came to America because he was outed as a Jacobite. He came from a family of loyalists and was basically kicked out and disowned for it, so he immigrated to the states. I don't think many in my family know about it, I was never told, I found out about it going into a genealogy deep dive on my family. So I laugh everytime it's brought up in RDR2 just cause it feels weirdly personal to me now
Actually majority of Scots weren't Jacobites. At culloden, the British government troops all consisted of scottish loyalists while the Jacobites had a mixture of highlanders, English, irish , French etc..
I tried shooting the locks off of the outhouse to release her but apparently the lock is made of some sort of indestructible metal that apparently kills the occupant and gives you low honour for attempting to do a good deed
Honestly the plan the play both of them fell apart when they tried to sell the moonshine back and burnt the tobacco fields respectively. It was clear the Horse mission was more of a test from the Grays to the Van Der Linden Gang Tavish Grey even trolls the gang outright when he mentions the gold at the beginning of the quest to gauge their reaction. I’d also argue Hosea’s underestimation of the Brathwaites is his weakest moment in the story, he was too invested in Dutch’s belief in conning both he wilfully overlooks the Taphouse ambush for what it is.
@9:23 Incidentally, the Kennedys did the same thing to their own daughter and sister, Rosemary, in the 20th century, from November 1940 until January 2005.
There is also lock box on left hand side of burned body of Braithwaite woman close to corner bottom of floor and inside the lock box their is single gold bar cost $500 but you will find gold bar again in that lock box about 2 days after if you return there. It's good to do this as John Marston in epilogue 1 - 2 because you still find gold bar there apart from dead body of Braithwaite woman that disappears after first trip to there as Author in Chapter 4.
Obvious nod to The Hatfield and McCoy feud but I like how both sides are basically obliterated rather than just stop fighting. Also, I really like the Gertrude Braithwaite Is Possessed theory lol I mean, she obviously just has an ungodly amount of mental defects but in 1899, possession wouldn't be too far off the accepted reason lol
the rain worked for the assault on braithwaite manor but im too used to it being broad bright daylight for the gray ambush for the rain and night to work
I just recently got the recommendations for this new stream of videos you got going out. And I have to say, it's got me in the mood to play RDR2 again. It'll probably be like my 6th playthrough, but still. Lol
That part of the story had some epic scenes, Dutch dragging an old woman down the steps by her head through her burning home? I mean, it got out of hand quickly
I honestly saw this as karma. It began with theft in the family, it ends with theft in the family. One from greed? The other from being painfully aware of how horrible these "Families" really were.
You can find the braithwait gold in the front room to the left of the dead corpse there is a lock box on the inner wall you will open it and get a gold bar
The Braithwaite's got off worse than the Grays. At least when you go back to the area in 1907 the Gray's still have Caleigha Hall and have a presence in the area, the Braithwaite aren't even in the old fishing village next to the manor anymore.
This chapter always felt rushed. 2 raids on each and suddenly Sean has a bullet in his head and Jack is kidnapped and magically Hosea decides there's no gold at all. Most frustrating chapter after Guarma for me, felt there was a lot more to explore in the narrative.
Bruh???? You think 2 raids IRL wouldn't be enough for people to figure out who is the wrongdoer? Especially in such a small community? Nice downplaying of one of the best chapters in game.
You forgot the treasure inside the burn down Braithwaite manor. There’s 2 lockboxes with riches in them you can look that before the house burnt would of been under the floors
The Logic of the two local Oligarchs Clans that heavily effect Lemoyne and is also the soles employers of worker in Lemoyne, as well as owns most of the farms lands and productions facilities (or at least have big share and influence in them) in Lemoyne, definitely is not lost on Rockstars, but I wonder if players notices, how this is uncanny similar to real life.
there are RDO bootlegger missions that involve both families, bartholemew braithwaite being a recurring character in the moonshiner story missions and caliga hall being the target of a supply destruction and rop burning bootlegger free roam mission
I saw another video where they talked about the braithwaisthes that they were cursed and made a deal with the Mystery man in the hat. Also the girl trapped in the outhouse is said to be a demon or something, the numbers she repeats is actually a Easter egg that leads to coordinates that turn out to be a Pentagon on the map
You should make a video about the Vander Linde too! Although I supposr that might have been done before, there's many characters and story to talk about there afterall.
Chapter 3 is by far the best one, I love the history and the lore but my favourite family is definitely the Braithwaites especially their property (House and Land)

Them being plantation owners was never central to the overarching conflict so who gives a shit? The connective tissue is just "two families locked in a vendetta that eventually turns deadly". That's it. This isn't a hard concept to grasp.
There is also gold in the burnt house. You gotta use the dead eye with no weapons and you'll find a lockbox under the floor. So the game was kinda true that there was good at the braithwaites lol. Couldn't find any at the grey's though
Your videos have encouraged to replay RDR2. Taking my time this go around and doing as much as I can between major story points.
7:10 how is he playing that mission during a rainstorm? Don’t most, if not all, missions change weather automatically for certain atmospheric moments? Every time I do that mission it’s a sunny day
Nah, theyre real time cutscenes
True!
By luck, might change the time of the day in some misions but weather is barely touched in missions so in some might be foggy or rainy by random xD
Actually one of the best climaxes in the game.
Man I love these mini documentaries so much
Just got back into rdr2 and have been bingeing your vids for a week now,my favourite red dead creator
i been waiting for this for 2 years
The scenes you captured in this video are absolutely incredible. Someone needs to put them on wallpaper engine or something.
The grey/braithewate fight reminds me of those two tribes in avatar the last Airbender that think the other tribe stole their sacred orb 100 years ago
7:17 I’ve never seen this scene durning night time let alone raining. Craziness!
fun fact the Grays and Braithewaite feud is very similar to a true story Im assuming that the rdr2 feud is based on the true story, but im not really sure, in the true story there is even a and I quote this from a history show "a romeo and Juliet story between the two families". I could go on and on about the similarities, but I won't.
You mean the Hatfields and McCoys?
Hey, Fizhy, thanks for another great lore video on this beautiful game! I'd love to see a video about the weapons of RDR2 with historical context (realism of customization etc.) in the future. Keep on the good work, mate.
There are a lot of historical feuds this could be influenced by. But the Jones-Liddell feud seems to be what most agree is the primary inspiration. Many, many family feuds in 19th century America.
Going through the LA Noire livestreams now and they are amazing! Love reliving all these all games together with you! Keep on going sir
One of the most interesting family feuds in entertainment
True
More interesting than Family Feud itself that Steve Harvey, couldn't even compete. Imagine both families on the show. LOL
@@Hyper_Kong Oh my God
Just wanted to mention, during the raid of Braithwaite manner you can find a letter from Catherine to Angelo talking about how the Grays and Braithwaites have been getting along for some time.....
I never even knew that Angelo Bronte knew or was even connected to the Braithwaite or Gray family.
I just re-read the letter and it seems like Cathrine is talking about the Braithwaites and the Brontes, not the Braithwaites and the Grays. I think that we can tell that the Grays and the Braithwaites were not on good terms based on how quickly they are willing to use the gang to screw the other one over.
Loving the content recently man keep it up
This is the only thing I’ve never fully experienced shouts out to you for even digging this deep ( pause ) I NEED one last ride for the boys
Since Micah is always focused on self preservation he must’ve realized that Dutch’s Boys were far more formidable and switched sides as a result
although i doubt his true allegiance was to either gang. He’d screw over both if he could find a way to come out on top.
You’re insane man love the videos on RDR2 they’re awesome
At culloden, the British government troops all consisted of scottish loyalists while the Jacobites had a mixture of highlanders, English, irish , French etc..
this is one of the best rdr vids you got good job man
Im addicted to these videos!
About to do my yearly playthru gonna be my 4th playthru perfect timing for this video awesome as always
Gold glitch?
Fizhy is like the "Vaatividya" of RDR Lore
I should of subscribed to this channel a long time ago. The amount of effort he puts into his videos is inspiring 👏
Thanks for the video man. Still hardcore into Red dead lore.
If I may. Alcoholic son, that sad letter from his mother. South of Braithe. Tell me you have already covered.
Obvious nod to The Hatfield and McCoy feud but I like how both sides are basically obliterated rather than just stop fighting. Also, I really like the Gertrude Braithwaite Is Possessed theory lol I mean, she obviously just has an ungodly amount of mental defects but in 1899, possession wouldn't be too far off the accepted reason lol
the rain worked for the assault on braithwaite manor but im too used to it being broad bright daylight for the gray ambush for the rain and night to work
You didn't go into the letter you can find buried in the islands to the east of Saint Dennis...
if only my pc didn't crash every ten minutes, i would be able to enjoy this game and its amazing storylines
It’s actually crazy how he knows pretty much the whole history of the 2 families. Good video tho as usual
These videos made me feel like I haven’t played the game at all, I’ve had 3 play throughs FYI
In the burned down house to the left of Catherine Braithwaite corpse there is a lock box with gold in it
I honestly saw this as karma. It began with theft in the family, it ends with theft in the family. One from greed? The other from being painfully aware of how horrible these "Families" really were.
I never believed the "pile of gold" bullshit. If either of those families had a big pile gold, they wouldn't live in Lemoyne.
Great work, as always, Fizhy
You can find the braithwait gold in the front room to the left of the dead corpse there is a lock box on the inner wall you will open it and get a gold bar
I just remembered that beo gray prity much told Arthur that his family knew who thay (the gang) were
The Jacobites burned down my village, Muthill in Scotland, in 1715.
Could you maybe do a video about Colter and why it was abandoned.
“Becomes their messenger boy to begin with and some how winds up in the middle of a women suffer age movement”
*Yeah. Pretty much.*
(5:06)
The Braithwaite's got off worse than the Grays. At least when you go back to the area in 1907 the Gray's still have Caleigha Hall and have a presence in the area, the Braithwaite aren't even in the old fishing village next to the manor anymore.
they played, and crossed the gang, and in response both families were destroyed
The most extreme episode of family feud.
This chapter always felt rushed. 2 raids on each and suddenly Sean has a bullet in his head and Jack is kidnapped and magically Hosea decides there's no gold at all.
Most frustrating chapter after Guarma for me, felt there was a lot more to explore in the narrative.
100%. I so wish there was more chapter 3. It could have been so much more.
Bruh???? You think 2 raids IRL wouldn't be enough for people to figure out who is the wrongdoer? Especially in such a small community? Nice downplaying of one of the best chapters in game.
@@ВладиславБулаев-л3э you get it
@IV CYAN red dead extended edition would probably be absolute gold
great videos as always keep it up
You forgot the treasure inside the burn down Braithwaite manor. There’s 2 lockboxes with riches in them you can look that before the house burnt would of been under the floors
You can also find gold in the burnt down house
This is like a real reference in the South with two southern families called the Hadfields and MCoys
I woke up this morning and saw this new release!! Woohoooooo!!!!
I do believe the gang might have gotten away with this if they had done this prior to letting Micah in their group.
I always wondered if the family who lived at Shady Belle where involved in the Gray Braithwaite conflict.
you can also find a gold bar underneath a floor board in the Braithwaite Manor
I love this. Thank you!
been watching since your assassins creed content keep it up
You should make a video about the Vander Linde too! Although I supposr that might have been done before, there's many characters and story to talk about there afterall.
Calling the Penelope and Beau thing an Easter egg is probably a fallacy since it's part of the main story and not a hidden thing to find
i think its the only time arthur receives honor for accepting payment as that was the "family treasure" Sean died for
Sounds as if this was their tribute to "A Fistful of Dollars" with the Baxter's vrs the Rojos.
Hot damn the music in the background is badass! What's the name of it? Awesome video btw Fizhy.
My favourite questionable thing to do in the game is being a slayer of Grays and Braithwaites. They are both made of sick twisted criminals.
Chapter 3 is by far the best one, I love the history and the lore but my favourite family is definitely the Braithwaites especially their property (House and Land)
Another excellent video.
thank you fizhy, very cool
What about the guy under the ice in the snow place
