  • Here is my comparison of the ‪@SITKAGear‬ Duck Oven and Ambient Jacket. These are both great options for the waterfowler.

Been hunting in negative degree weather. The duck oven is absolutely the go to piece in those conditions.

I’ve been goose hunting this month in -20 to -25 windchills wearing the core mid weight top and bottom. Scree hoody, Dakota pants, topped it all with the boreal aerolite jacket and bib pants. Fantastic setup with no cold issues at all. Hudson GTX gloves and boreal beanie topping it off.
Loving my Sitka setups! Keep up the great content

I just picked up the ambient jacket. I have not used it yet but it was love at first try on and you could feel the heat building as soon as it went on. I got it on sale at sika and like you said it was a deal. I also picked up the stratus jacket and pants just could not do the bibs am in love with them also. With base layers the ambient my primoloft gold Cross core puffy and stratus on top I will be ready for anything. SITKA may be expensive but it sure is nice stuff. Darren

The duck oven is the bomb. The only other piece that close, is the boreal down jacket. I’ve field tested both. The duck oven is the constant winner!

Here in Alabama I run core lightweight hoody, grinder hoody, And my duck oven. I always have my DWJ over my waders as I don't dry field hunt. Even in the 50s I was burning alive with the duck oven, so I got the traverse jacket. I will get cold on open water hunts in the 50s with it. So I sold my traverse. I have the core heavyweight top and bottoms so maybe that would have fixed the issue but I think the ambient might work better for me with the Dakota vest just to keep my core warm. The duck oven gets toasty even in the 20s and below if I'm moving a good bit with my heavyweights on, grinder Hoody, and duck oven, I'm a little bit puffier then I'd prefer and over heated.

I've been seriously looking at the duck oven for rifle season deer hunting. Considering layering First lite base layers, stratus bibs, ambient hoody, duck oven jacket and either stratus vest or fanatic vest. Thoughts?

What kind of changes are you anticipating with the ambient? Getting ready to purchase two hoodies, one for turkey, one for deer.

The duck oven is the only jacket to buy!

Do you have any insight on the new Sitka pattern? Going on the website, the whitetail line has a new option “optifade cover”

So is the Ambient a replacement of the Gradient?

I wanna say the Duck Oven has 200g in torso and 100g in sleeves

It is worth nothing the duck oven is the primaloft with cross core (aerolite) and the ambient is primaloft evolve.. they are two entirely different insulation packages that do different things. They are not just “primaloft”. You consistently miss this critical detail
