    At last... a car styling that isn't fussy and "creased" or "flame surfaced" or other such crap. It looks handsome, graceful and sporty. Interior is similarly restrained, with no over-the-top mega-size screen or 15 different materials mixed together. Reminds me of the older Audis design language. Software is awesome. If it drives as well as you said it does, I would totally buy this. That's actually the ONLY electric car I ever said this about (aside from the multi million dollar Rimac Neverra). And I'm a die-hard petrolhead 🤣. Wow. I'm impressed._

    The ET5 costs €60,000 ($65,924) in Europe if customers buy and charge the battery themselves. The NIO ET5 costs €47,000 ($51,641.72) if customers lease the battery monthly. NIO's battery leases come with unlimited free swaps.

  • @tani123
    @tani123 Год назад +18

    170 euros a month after taxes is a fair price for two SWAPs, a guarantee that your battery will forever be in the healthiest condition, upgrades, and future cost reduction. That's why I think it's fair to measure the price by the price excluding the battery. The most important point, NIO is a standard. NIO's strategy is to put everything important inside and let them choose color and small additions. Tesla, on the other hand, puts everything important to your choice. There are two methods here, one can argue about which one is the right one. (I personally think Tesla's method is better) This means a significant difference in the entry price. But if you do a head-to-head comparison, NIO is actually much more attractive than Tesla. (I am going to make the comparison based on the model 3 Highland and the ET5T in Germany, assuming that the vehicles themselves are the same at their level) First we will add dual drive, 19 inch wheels, we will add a white interior, (because at NIO the most beautiful interior is free) we will also add autonomous driving because With NIO, this is the standard, (in fact, NIO has more than twice as many sensors for autonomous driving as Tesla, and all of those are of a much higher resolution than Tesla's, some even for a long range of 200 meters) So, NIO ET5T 45 thousand euros, Tesla 63 thousand euros, so tell me, well, not all customers want dual drive, so they lose five things about it , they lose a lot of things about it, 1, less performance, 2, less grip on the road, 3, less good for off-road 4, dual drive doubles the shelf life of The propulsion system, 5, and probably the most important, the charging of drops to 170 at the peak, and we know that with Tesla the curve drops quickly so this is very significant. That's why you must purchase the double drive in 75 percent of the cases. But let's say you still insist on choosing the rear-wheel drive version, the price drops to $53,000, still much more expensive than the NIO.

    • @finejustgivemeaname
      @finejustgivemeaname 9 месяцев назад

      You’re still getting recharged batteries, no?
      No trolling, I’m a NIO investor since 2018 and been DCAing ever since.
      But, the comments about battery swapping confuse me. Maybe it’s just my ignorance, but swapping doesn’t change your battery life since the battery that replaces your previous one is still a used battery.
      I do think it’s a more efficient method though.

    1. The reason the phone charger is triggering the payment app is that the charger also has an NFC receiver. Your phone is likely set up to activate the payment app whenever it detects NFC. But its understandably annoying.
    2. The window switches are not backwards (but intuitively it may feel that way). Normally they would be turned 90 degrees on a normal car. But push is down, pull is up. Same thing here. Push is down, pull is up. Also, analogous to the gear shifter. Pulling is forward, pushing is reverse.
    GREAT review by the way, and really interesting to see the improvements of Banyan 2.0.0 (even if it's beta). I got the impression the AP is much better too now? That part has had some fairly negative critique from reviewers and users with the current software.

    If I had the money, I would buy one immediately. I recently took the ES6 for a small test drive and I was really impressed. Of all Chinese car brands, Nio may be the one adapted best for the European market.
    If you cannot find something in the menus, or if you think your massage setting is not what you want: ask Nomi. Asking Nomi about things in the car really works well. Detailed navigation does not work well if you use Nomi, you'd better use the navigation system. I don't agree with the car modes not delivering full power. Tesla has a Chill mode, because the standard Sport mode with full power just has too much power. That holds for any electric car, especially a car as fast as a Tesla or this Nio. You will mainly use the car in comfort mode I think, and you can use Nomi to use another drive mode.
    The tow hitch is a paid option, so is the Nomi head. Here in The Netherlands, the car costs 51900 euros, the larger battery will cost 289 euros per month instead of 169, and it will cost 21000 euros to buy instead of 12000 for the smaller battery.

    I've recently got this ET5 Touring (used to be ET5T, now touring is just a spec under the ET5 model name), and driven the crap out of it. It's extremely fun even on road trips, especially after draining the battery to near 5%, I can just head to the nearest battery swap station and get about 95% charge in 10 minutes (different battery, 100kWh, charge limited to 95% to protect the shared batteries I assume, but hey you can buy the car without the battery and subscribe to them, 75/100/150 kWh). The interior is super nice and I even set it to the Mercedes Red and Blue theme for the night drives, and Pink and Baby Blue for the Barbie vibes. The only two gripes of my ownership would be: the charging infrastructure in China -- I gotta charge it up a bit before reaching the swapping station but only 1 out of 5 fast charging station worked, super frustrating; then there's the battery overheating -- after driving at 200kph+ for a few minutes, the acceleration was astrocious and the regenerative braking was reduced. I'd def choose this in the US as well if it supports the Tesla Supercharging Network.

      The factory produced for Nio is JAC, in the past 20 years, JAC has been known for producing terribly unreliable cars. Chinese cars have even worth so-called "quality" than Korean cars (there are a lot of different aspects in the word "quality"). US had Volvo before, which is a very reliable car and it does not sell. Other manufacturers need to take note of this. The battery swap is the key. Nio should license this out which would enable other manufacturers to fund Nio’s global growth and lease their battery swap stations so they could expand the infrastructure. Being stuck with old tech batteries is a major hurdle why I wont go EV. As battery tech improves with efficiency , which it is, Nio owners will be able to simply lease / buy a new battery. Got a Tesla? you’ll be stuck with what you’ve got and rubbish resale guaranteed.
