“Objectively, this is not a good car. But everyone should buy one!”
Best review ever! 😂
I want one
Objectively, it isn't a car, neither legally nor technically.
This is not a Mercedes S-Class, which is obviously not kept in mind in this video and little bit unfair.
Buy a coffin, more leg room, try those cars in crash test with Semis
@@donald9825 It isn't a car. Neither is it sold as a car, nor can you immatriculate it as a car, nor do you need a car driving licence for it, nor does it need to pass any kind of crash test. Try a scooter in a crash test vs an HGV or even against this, then you are the n the right category, because that's what this essentially is.
You can tell Alyssa is behind the camera with zooms on cute dogs.😀
That video is typical out of spec. Alyssa has a squirrel moment where she sees a cute dog and Kyle has a squirrel moment where he sees a cool old Tesla model S with original wheels
Reminds me of the movie Up where Doug immediately goes, “Squirrel!” 😂😂
what????? €17,000 price of this vehicle???? because it is beautiful and advanced, but really very expensive... such a car should cost somewhere around €5000 and that would really be a realistic price for such a product😢
Agreed. We are close to a used Tesla Model 3 being that price. A real car.
I was thinking 5k as well.
Prices will settle..theyre being a little optimistic at the moment i think..but dont expect a massive chunk off..
Maybe if it was Gasoline or diesel and not electric it would be.
It’s not really a purchase you make with your head. It’s a lifestyle purchase. People who buy these will probably have 1 or 2 other cars. You buy it because you like it.
I liken it to buying a Swiss watch. You can buy a Casio for a hundredth of the price and it’ll probably be more reliable in the long run. Both tell the time but which one makes you feel a certain way?
A secondhand model 3 will make you satisfied that you made a financially responsible decision but this just looks like a blast. Just a silly little car to put a smile on your face.
I love it too, but that price is ridiculous.
Idiotic price for that piece of crap. I mean, I love it, but it's a rolling coffin. And waaaay too expensive. This shouldn't cost more than 3000-4000 quid, give or take.
and they are aiming for young people, eu are putting out rules that says only 90 km to you are over 21 (i guess they want the parents to buy it 🤣)
its a kids car, it also look like something postman pat would drive
Needs to be less than $10k for sure. It’s adjacent to a prettier version of cheap Chinese made off-brand EVs
We have these small cars (light quadricycles) for young drivers in Europe. Most are actually stupidly expensive and absolute Deathtraps with woeful build quality. They’re usually speed limited. Here in Finland you can pay almost €25,000 for one new. So from that perspective a microlino for €23,000 is a pretty funky proposition. The high speed stability didn’t look too bad in comparison to a regular quadricycle.
Yeah. Citroen make one for ten grand so stuff it. 😢
A German ex-colleague of mine described the original Isetta as the pot-hole-finder due to the two different width axles. Clearly Microlino have never heard it described as such 😊 Hopefully the design (electronics and software) improves and matures quickly for the future models. I would personally love one as a commuter vehicle.
“USB A like it’s 1994.”
He says, ignoring that the USB standard came out in 1996. 😂
This car has the same issues as Smart. Great design, compact size, and is priced like a car that is twice as large and twice as capable
And at least with gas versions, even though it is half the size and capability, it gets only very slightly better gas mileage - if at all.
Except the Smart won’t kill you in a city-speed crash. This one will. Or leave you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. Enjoy!
Just remember, that this is a manufacturer, which has not contracts with battery producer about thousends of batteries. Its even not a car manufacturer at all, so the processes are quite inefficient. I think thats the real price given from a solid book keeper.
Love the design and the size. We need more human scale cars. I don't mind the price either once they fix the minor issues pointed out in this video. Can't get over the size. So perfect.
imagine getting in the blind angle of a truck in that one 🥶
some people like to live dangerous
@@Hansen710 I don't choose my belongings based on how irresponsible other people are with theirs.
@@JH-uu7jl - Yes, but the irresponsible other people will hit you with theirs. I love these little cars too but I would not drive them on most North American roads.
@@Hansen710 micro cars, or even something like the Ciroen Ami, are a waste of space -always have been as you will still need a proper size car for longer journeys and carrying loads ..
I bought one in Switzerland, the Microlino Competizione, and I love it! For Swiss standard is not so expensive and I managed to get it in the Headquarter in Küsnacht (just close to my hometown in the Zurich area). I own a Tesla Model S and both are my favorite cars! Driving in Zürich with the Tesla is a nightmare (too big, no parking), but with the Microlino is just easy. You are right, lot of noises and rumors, but I am sure they will fix it. So far, I am excited to test it in winter with snow, rain and cold. Nice video as always! Cheers from Thalwil (Zürich)
Enjoy your Microlino . I wish to drive one soon once they launch it internationally
Do you pronounce the name Microlino like he does in this video?
It reminded me at first of a Fiat 126 bisc 😂❤
This thing is a death trap. Should never be allowed on highways.
@@manuel0578 It's totally flawed:
-It's a sweatbox which no person in modern times would ever buy: it has no air conditioning! Even the cheapest ICE cars which cost nearly half of that could be had with air conditioning!
-It's rattly, uncomfortable, noisy as hell. Just unacceptable compared to ICE cars which used to be available at even under 10K€!
-Not fun to drive
-Not good for the environment: with the extremely low amount of kilometres this kind of cars are driven ICE cars are lower in lifetime CO2
-Not only are they not safe in crashes, but the cheap, unsophisticated batteries are a huge fire hazard too.
-I'm absolutely certain it will have reliability problems before it's been driven very much, and then you'll have trouble finding places to fix it and you'll be surprised at how much different EV components cost. In the proper car world with PHEVs and EVs a simple high-voltage electrics module can cost as much as a full engine swap for an ICE car...maybe the lower-quality Microlino parts will cost a bit less than the proper PHEV and EV parts, but expect surprises!
My dad briefly had an Isetta when he was in his 20's...I agree, everyone should have a totally impractical fun car
I'd buy that over an Arcimoto for sure! It needs to come to the US! Great video
Tell me that Alyssa is filming without telling me. 2:06
I love bubble cars. Yes, they have some disadvantages, but they're hugely practical in busy urban areas.
And if you come back to your front blocked in, just hop in through the sunroof.
If the base model was $12k and top of the line model was $15k it would make sense
Highways: From Microlino website:
Can I use the Microlino on the motorway?
The Microlino is allowed to drive on highways in Switzerland and in Europe. In Italy and France, on the other hand, L7e vehicles are not allowed to drive on highways.
Ha ha that warp speed (Sport mode) is funny 😂 The car looks like fun! It's either that or cycle. a Great city car.
Interesting little car and probably a good replacement for what the Smart EV once was. Thanks for the thorough test, hope they are successful!
Love it! Want one for around town.
microlino with Kyle in it looks absolutely hilarious and I love it!! they need to bring it to Australia please!
Quadricycles are not permitted in Australia AFAIK.
No Air Conditioner !!
LOL, Alyssa with the dog zoom in🥰
I hope they keep improving / refining this.
TimeStamp. 3.25. Please don't slam the door. It is not good to make such a mistake in a performance. It is described in the descriptions. Softclose!
If it was about $15k it would be really cool in a city. But for the similar money you can get a Chevy Bolt. Or Leaf.
interesting review, I liked your honesty and enthusiasm ! There's a point I like to add regarding micro cars : depending your local legislation, it can be park on a motorcycle spot, which is space and cost saving ;-)
My parents actually owned a 1958 Isetta. I, my brother and sister learned to drive with it in our front yard.
Sorry if I missed it, but is the battery air- or liquid-cooled? Because a small, air-cooled pack (so, low lifetime) in an expensive car makes the price that much harder to swallow.
Probably air-cooled, with low motor power and charging speed, you really don't need liquid cooling
I've followed all the twist and turns that the Microlino took to reach production and have to say that the car as first conceived was completely different car so comparing the price of that car to the one that made it to production is really not fair. And if you don't like the price now - Wait till you see the one that meets US specs and is even more expensive.
It's very cool and great looking. It's not a Car. It's a Light Cat. Vehicle u can drive from 16 years old on. Insurance and taxes r cheap like a Scooter. Thank u for the great Video.
As much as I love quirks of this car I don't see this company surviving at this price, 23k eur is insane
Should be proximity key only. That key sticking out of the stalk is a design flaw.
A perfect car for Wales and their new WEF 20 mph speed limit. Wales can have very wet weather so bicycles would be a cold and wet experience. Probably to expensive as 20 mph will totally destroy the Welsh economy.
this is far too powerful and too fast for that speed limit
When can I drive on the Autobahn?
The German road traffic regulations "Straßenverkehrsordnung (StVO)" stipulate that motor vehicles may only use a Autobahn if “the maximum speed determined by the design is more than 60 km/h”.
As a very young child (1969) I watched a guy park his Isetta close up to a wall. Unfortunately some of the U.K cars had no reverse gears and he was stuck, shouting out of the window until someone helped by pushing it away so he could get out. That image stuck with me all these years and this bought it back! Thanks!
Yes top gear did an episode on parking it against the wall too.
The Isetta was originally an Iso from Italy BMW, VELAM and Romi built after Iso kinda petered out. Anyway, I remember they used motorcycle engines and transmissions so they had no reverse gear in the transmission, but some sort of 'bolt on reverse' that apparently a lot of people removed because it was unreliable.
Is that even legal? I feel like reverse gear is kind of needed. lol
All Isettas had reverse. To allow 16 year olds & motorcycle only licence holders drive in the UK, reverse had to be blocked off. This was done with a bolt that stopped engagement of reverse. The bolt would be removed by the owner after delivery.
OK what does it cost in US dollars? How much does it weigh? Can it be flat towed behind an RV or does it have to have all four wheels up on a trailer? That’s the question I want cause I like the little thing make a great tow vehicle for behind my RV..
haha that dog zoom that was fun Alyssa
In Germany a car has to have a speed of at least 60 km/h to drive on the Autobahn. So the Microlino has 90 km/h topspeed is ok for the Autobahn.
well you would have to walk when you get to the danish highway if you are driving 60km/h..
we dont allow tracktors on the highway, and we dont allow slowing down traffic for your own plesure
you can get a ticket for driving to slow
Isn't it 60 for Kraftfahrstraße (so not Autobahn but highway-like roads) and 80 for Autobahn? I think it was something like that and that's why Twizy was just allowed on the Autobahn with its 84km/h Vmax!
@@dieserNiko It is on both Kratffahrstrßen and Autobahnen. Quot: "„...deren durch die Bauart bestimmte Höchstgeschwindigkeit mehr als 60 km/h beträgt“. Wich mean "... if (the Vehicle) is so build that there Vmax is higher than 60Km/h." Apologize my bad english. I am better in understanding english and not so good in the way i express myself or whrite correctly or translate into english.
The vehicle must be able to go over 60 km/h. I belive otherwise you don’t get the regualar license plate.
@@dieserNiko
Wouldn't want this on the highway or freeway.
I would buy it cuzz it is cool and urban practical and I have a fondness for quirky vehicles having owned a few over the last 60-years like a 360 Subaru, Renault Dauphine and Caravelle, Fiat 850 Spider& X1/9, original Honda Civic, BMW 700 LS Coupe, and may more.
It seems today that people are really spoiled by the modern vehicle amenities. I grew up with post-war Austins, Sunbeam Rapiers, Triumphs, as family cars. My first car was a 1948 Cadillac convertible, then Flathead Mercs, Fords, Stovebolt Chevys cars and trucks, 48' through 53' Oldsmobiles, more Cadillacs and Cadillac convertibles, and later V8 Chevies and Fords, and VW's from 55' through 65'. Spent may years driving a 36-hp Bugs, so I'm pretty easy going with any car and its quirks. My first new car was a1964 Olds 442, convertible, over the years many new performance cars followed, everything from Spitfires to a 68' Dodge Charger R/T 440 and a Lotus Europa JPS to several Miatas's, and BMW's. None would be anywhere near perfect by today's judgemental buyers. If it runs and stops, defrost and wipes the windows and is fun to drive, I'm not going to sweat its faults. I would have no problem driving an old Bug or 50' Chevy pickup across the country cuzz I have. At least if it broke, I could fix it on the side of the road. Now I'm not against new cars cuzz they are so much better than the old polluting beasts and safer. And, I'm in the market for a new or newer EV, cuzz I'm done with ICE vehicles. In the mid-50's my dad a Biophysicist said that our future was electric cars or we would have a viable future. He was right.
Thanks for the enthusiastic post.
If you're ever back in the SD area before I sell my ZENN car, you might need to give it a go. Originally it only had ~6kW, but with motor and battery upgrades now it's pushing 60+kW!
Realistically it's pretty ridiculous, as it just burns rubber when giving more than ~1/2 throttle at low speeds. Pretty much everything else about the car is super sketchy as well, haha.
It's less than a Harley Davidson Livewire....better mileage range...roof for the rain and the sunroof for other times. With that top of the line battery and refinements...that's a serious daily commuter and regional run about.
On the other hand, you could buy an entire Zero motorcycle (with more power than the Microlino) plus a Tata Nano for less than $20k, then put the Zero drivetrain in the Nano.
Its "MY CRO LEENO". And that IS the 2.0. The 1.0 was the earlier design that Micro never brought to production. So that is the final version and is not changing.
Oh that's terrible news if they never plan to change it because clearly it needs massive work to make it scale properly. Like, you know, every car on the planet which is why Tesla iterates constantly and doesn't use the big refresh model that legacy auto uses to head toward bankruptcy. That would be a shame, I was hopeful they might make a go of it.
Only in the US - in Europe where it is designed and built the prefix micro is pronounced me-cro
@@gibb253 no in Europe it's Microlino - my-cro - because in case you hadn't realised, English is the main language in two European countries, the UK and Ireland. Also the most common second language in other European countries. The US got their language from us, and while they don't speak it all that well, even they don't pronounce 'micro' differently.
Not that they could* care less about such things.
People really need to stop thinking the UK (and Ireland in this case) are not in Europe just because we're not all in the EU anymore, as if all European countries were in the EU anyway :D
*None too subtle joke in that many Americans think the phrase is 'I could care less' when it's 'I couldn't care less' which is what they mean
Well, I appreciate your friendly difference of opinion. My situation is that of a permanent Italian resident, bilingual in English and Italian, and a fairly fluent speaker of German, and a frequent visitor to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I am guilty as charged in that from here, Britain (but not Ireland) does feel less European since Brexit, not least because of the hassle involved in getting there, with huge queues at Border Force UK, etc. Certainly, in the US, they do say MY-cro, (and aloominum and noocooler) and they and the Brits will call this car My-crolino if it gets there. However, the prefix "micro" is present in many European languages, and if you want a bit of fun seeing how they say it, google "microwave in German/French/Italian" and listen to the sample pronunciation. You'll get Mikrowelle, four micro onde, and microonde- in all cases you''ll hear micro procounced as "mee-cro" so may I correct myself by saying in continental Europe, a car designed in Switzerland and built in Italy is likely to be perceived as having a generic European rather than Anglo-Saxon name, especially by the Italians, as "'-ino" is the Italian suffix for little, cute things so Italians will rightly regard the car as having a 100% Italian name, meanng cute little microcar or microvettura as they are called here. I have no problem with the car being called Mycrolino in UK/USA but saying that that is the only correct way to say it is like saying Bee-em-double-u is the only correct way to say BMW and you wouldn't get far at the Oktoberfest if you insisted on that.@@jonevansauthor
@@gibb253 the UK is 100% European because it's in Europe. That's all that matters. The moment everyone else in Europe starts denying basic geography we have a bigger problem than the EU.
As for language, on an English speaking channel, you should expect to hear English pronunciations. Also, that is the correct pronunciation of BMW in English. No-one cares about Oktoberfest, or what Germans call it. I don't expect them to say the UK in German, they'll say Großbritannien but that's not how it's said when speaking English. Paris is Paris not Paree, Germany is Germany not Deutschland.
But sure, feel free to pull everyone up on their local pronunciation of words in their own language, that'll go a long way to fostering good relationships.
FYI on Brexit, the majority of Brits regret it, possibly because enough of the people who voted for it died of old age, or their innate stupidity or ignorance. It was a stupid idea, more fit for the kind of people who run companies like VW and BMW or join the Swiss Guard than people we're not ashamed are British. We get the stupid border queues as well now, including the fools who voted for it and are surprised by the fact they now need visas and to do more paperwork etc. It was a real, 'I'd buy an ICE vehicle because that's how dumb I am' moment.
I love neighborhood commute EVs, they make so much sense.
I'm more curious about European vehicle class L6e-BP (but also L7e-CP).
My neighborhood commute is only 30-50 km/h, thus the 45 km/h max for L6e is enough.
I think the Microlino is cool, except it's too expensive.
Beautiful crumple zone. Oops.
Oh well, will be enough in 15-min-cities. And hopefully they'll do away with dogs and cats as pets. Because of the sky.
@@manoman0 almost 15-minute-city for my neighborhood, but more like 15-25 by bike, and parts of the bike paths are inconveniently placed, making them undecidable, but easily 4-8 minutes in a neighborhood commute vehicle at 45 km/h
@@manoman0 if the Citroën Ami could get battery heater for winter; it would be a perfect alternative for me,
but I don't want a vehicle we can't use radom cold weeks during winter, just because it won't charge.
If they would just charge very slow, even just at 300W, it would be OK, but if we can't charge every time the battery is below -5°C it's too unreliable.
Also want one!
Yeah, that's all fine and dandy until you're forced to live like that. @@thorbjrnhellehaven5766
So happy to see decent sponsors and not some cringy manscaping promo.
It's not a toy for the rich. And it's not a concept an American, who never lived in a medieval European town with roads sometimes less than 6 foot wide, could possibly grasp. Actually it's not even a car, it's a motorcycle, technically, like a Vespa. For example in Switzerland you would save US$ 1000.-- per year compared to a BMW i3 or Renault ZOE on road tax and insurance alone. It can easily save you another 3k in parking each year, compared to any car at any price point and even the smallest size. This really is for the countless people living in towns and cities who don't even have a driving licence, let alone a car, because a car would be impractical, utterly useless and absolutely ridiculous for them to have. Such vehicles have existed for decades, they have a sizeable market and will continue to exist. They are still safer than a Vespa scooter, offer some cargo space and weather sealed room for two adults, all while still legally being a scooter.
I mean, it's a quadricycle, so it's absolutely not a motorcycle because it's got it's own segment but yes it's similar in some respects to a moped, which is not a motorcycle. Might seem pedantic but there are classifications for vehicles and the whole point about being able to drive it without a full car licence was why they created the quadricycle designation in the EU. It's closest to a moped, which is what a Vespa is, and follows similar rules in most countries. Same category as the Citreon Ami only even in this state it's clearly a lot better vehicle in some respects, excluding the obscene price.
I feel like Kyle understands it pretty well, even if he's wrong about it being cooler than a Smart car ;)
@@jonevansauthor I know nothing about EU regulations. This was designed in Switzerland, which is were I come from, and in Switzerland this gets the small motorcycle rear plate and no front plate (unlike Germany, as you can see in the video). Because it has four wheels, it can be used with the car driving licence as well. Unlike the Citroën Ami, it's not restricted to 45kph, which is a huge advantage. It can drive in regular traffic flow at 45-55kph in built up areas and 80-90kph on country lanes. It can also use motorways, which are usually restricted to 80kph in cities anyway. With a motorcycle plate it can use motorcycle parking, which is usually free and unlimited. The Microlino is offerd from 16.5k Franc here in Switzerland. I think, the microlino isn't particularly well suited for Germany. They have wide roads, don't penalise large cars, there's generally less traffic and congestion and more parking space available. The microlino is far more relevant in Switzerland, France, Italy.
@@adrianguggisberg3656 fair enough, but if it fits into the quadricycle designation in the UK and EU, that's because they designed it that way which would make sense. You want as many people to be able to access it as possible. Although, given the obvious problems with the design that Kyle pointed out, it might be that they actually didn't think that hard about what they were doing.
I'd be fine driving it inter-city in the UK along large roads if it's legal (which I think it probably is) but there can't be many significant European cities where it wouldn't be a huge benefit. I suspect it climbs hills better than the Ami as well which apparently struggles a bit, obviously versions of this have better range, and higher speed although I expect it has less luggage/shopping space (which is fine if it's actually markedly smaller).
It'd be good to see a comparison of the two side by side. I suspect they'll have problems if a version two of the Ami comes out with a few tweaks (a higher capacity battery, a higher max speed).
@@jonevansauthor The Ami isn't quite the matching comparison. You'd have to compare with Aixam diesel models, which start at the same price, but can also do 90kph, the Aixam and Ligier electric models have less range and 45kph limit. The only real contender is the Twizzy. It does 80kph at the same price, but less cargo space, vitually none actually, no side windows, no heater, you basically sit outside under a canopy on a plastic bucket. The microlino packs quite a punch for the price, by comparison.
@@adrianguggisberg3656 The Twizy isn't in production anymore, but they are planning a replacement. The AMI is a vehicle to compare, because it's also a quadricycle, though reasonably since it's a fraction of the price, you can't expect it to have the same capabilities. But it IS a more sensible price for a vehicle segment intended to be a budget option with limited features.
The Aixam and Ligier electric versions might be comparable but an ICE engine one obviously isn't relevant. Unless they come in right hand drive to the UK of course, they're all irrelevant (one reason the AMI is suspect).
The good thing is, it's clearly not hard to make a quadricycle that's usable and meets different people's needs. One can only hope they'll be widely available in the future, at sensible prices for normal people, and insanely expensive prices for the lunatics.
Is legal to use on German Autobahn requested Speed at least 61kph / kmh Just to mention it. It is a funny Car. Great to See it now on streets and parking.😊
somehow its more insane they allow them in citys..
i would not like to get in the blind angle of a huge truck in this one.
i would feel more safe parachuting or bungy jumping with homemade equitment, then i would driving that thing.
if it had the speed to get out of dangerous situations like a bike, i would feel a little different.
but in this one you are stuck watching the accident happen

23k Euro,, 😬. Thats 5k more than a used low mileage +30kWh SEAT Mii, VW e-up!, etc.
That so cool!!! Love to see these cute EV's around the communities!
It looks like a modern Steve Urkel car. 👍 It looks so much fun.
To be allowed to drive on the Autobahn, your vehicle must be able to do "more than 60 kph". That is the only rule in regards of speed. 90 kph is plenty enough.
I hope they do come to America, I would love one.
Thanks for the overview!! Been watching the Microlino's progress over the years, so nice to finally see it on the road. If they bring it to the states with a price < $20K, without any significant speed restrictions then I think they might have something. I think for sure I would want one over an Arcimoto or an NEV golf cart thing.
I just got a survey emailed to me from microlino because I emailed them a few years ago asking them to sell in USA. The survey mentioned that the EU spec car would be limited to 25 mph as a NEV. However, the survey later showed concepts that would go up to the same EU speed of 56 mph or so. I commented that they should do the NHTSA requirements for the full speed and no limitations on surface roads.
These look like squishmalllows plush toys on wheels! Definitely top tier cuteness. Agree, the price is too high for mass consumption. ❤❤❤

It's a type of car Mr Bean would Drive.

Should have done Nürburgring .... ;)
They price the early adopter ones according to demand (which probably is off the charts), to fund the development of the company and to fund the development of the cheaper mass production version that I guess could come soon enough, at some point, who knows, if they can mass produce hundreds of thousands or even millions of these, they might sell these at $8000 or even $5000.
then it would be worth buying
I have followed this car for a while. I would absolutely 100% buy one the minute it lands in the US.
Cannot forgive you for not taking us for a walk inside Motorworld. Was there last year, it is a fantastic place.
Question why do most America car reviewers complain that if you take the power of an ev and it goes into regen you want the brake lights to come on ??
The reason why i ask is that if you did that on a petrol car and you hold the clutch and you let it roll out the brake lights dont come on....
I hear some say its dangerous , my take on that is you need to keep your eyes on the road..... honesty it drives me nuts to see a car constantly hitting the brake even in City driving ....
Fürther more when i got my licence in Europa 30+ years ago it was illegal to brake on the highway unless your in real danger.....i was lernt to dis engage gear and let the car role to a stop then brake at the last moment to make it stop in front of the light ....that saves your pads etc....
I think its a reason most EVs in Europa do that 2.....
We have an mg2 and i would not live without regen anymore , and yes i only brake at the last moment 😂😂😂😂😂
Because manual transmissions are 1% of the market in the US, and even manual drivers are taught to lightly brake even when engine braking to signal what the car is doing.
Cute car that puts a smile on my face. Would get a kick out of seeing one driving around my neighborhood. Especially one in a two tone color combination. But would I buy one? Nope! At least the originals steering wheel moved out of the way when you opened the door. I like it from outside.
Hi, let me tell you that BMW Isetta was sold in my country early 60s, and it was/is very popular until today. This Microlino clearly respected all those original details of body. Wonderful! It is like a dream come true, same shape, same door opening, but with all those modern technologies. I can see bicolor versions too, light green and white...very retro colors. Thank you very much for sharing this adventure.

PD: I think name must be pronunced as _meecro leeno_ (if you are English soeaker), name probablely comes from _Topolino,_ an Italian way for calling Fiat 500 due the measures and grill and headlights. Topolino means Micky Mouse (🤔 if I am not wrong).
This car was invented by ISO, an Italian car maker. BMW produced it as the BMW Isetta under license from ISO.

Microlino lives by the Marchionne method - EVs = XPNSV. Seems they put all the r/d budget into the body/chassis/interior and used the last $2 of the budget to select the off the shelf motor and controller.
Love the mirrors/headlights!
Awful design, frankly. And bad interior for the money.
Very good design and portable
Very strange and wonderful oddball. Its like a pregnant roller skate.
In Europe, you have to drive at least HALF the speed limit, so 90kmh is fine.
It's "km/h", and you should educate yourself about the autobahn.
I think it’s cute as a bug I really like it
Only question that I have is: Will it fit in the bed of a Cybertruck?
That's a definite "maybe".
No, but it will fit in the bed oft a Truckla.
I word: "No". But a big "yes" for making the video and letting the public see what is available for EV transportation.
will forever remind me of steve urkel
Hell yeah! This is fantastic. Would love to have one!
Great stuff as usual, thank you Kyle and Alyssa.
I reserved 2 a few years ago but I live in the US... Soooo do you know anything about:
1) Microlino coming to US?
2) A version with quieter motor/powertrain?
Thanks!
I would love to answer to this question is it coming to the US? This would be perfect for every inner person or suburb commute downtown
Did you not learn anything Kyle?? Its micro (Mike Row) , not mee crow leeno. At least Alyssa can count!!
It’s Italian/European. It’s “MeecroLeeno”
Imagine Mike Rowe trying to fit in one of these.
("Well, at least it came with an optional sun roof.")
@@KentBuchla MeecroLeeno is Italian for "won't sell in the United States."
Now imagine the Microlino parked in the Bed of the Cybertruck…
Microlino and Cybertruck…
Just good Friends…
Sangat bagus🎉🎉🎉❤
Kapan di jual di indonesia🎉🎉
Two things: the Isetta from BMW is just a licensed Iso Isetta. And the BMW Motorcycles are german build in Berlin.
Yes, I think it's to expensive as well. But don't forget in the german pricing are 19% sales taxes included.
my vw also comes from germany, and it sucks..
germans are deffently not the best at EV´s
in dk we pay 150% car tax..
and insuriance is pretty much the double of germany, and so is the tax on owning it
a used car from germany is not posible to import to dk without taxing it one more time.
eu is no help when it comes to cars..
for dutch and german peopole danish cars are actually cheap, when you remove our tax..(it is posible on some used cars to get the tax back if they are exported)
our car dealers in dk are the worlds best traders thanks to our tax system
I don’t think I’ll be going any smaller than my Mini Cooper S E thank you, at least the Mini has the power/ speed to get away from the big trucks on the highway!
the vehicle category the Microlino is in (L7E), does not allow more power.
At the end of the video u can’t say “it’s very early days” after you already said u checked and it is the gen2 model ;)
Due to a different legal situation in the USA, the Microlino US version will have to undergo some design changes!!
It said on google!!!!!
American always looks "Freedom" but never especially in economic they are suck!!!!
Perfect city car!!! So cool! But look at the rich kids who eat from real China and crystal have some "burgers with paper plates and cups". More talking down. "Oh how cute and funny". 🤷🏻♂🤷🏻♂🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂😱😱🤣🤣 Even so these are the fun videos for the rest of us to enjoy! $18-22K USD. Not really expensive when you consider the value. Not much more than a 4 seater street legal quality gold cart! 150ish miles!
Isetta was a vehicle designed by ISO, an italian company, , not BMW. Presented in 1953.
It was produced by BMW under license.
Official BMW name for the Isetta was BMW 250, but many used its original ISO's name.
15:10 she is absolutely right about pronunciation: in Italy we say "mee-cro-lee-no" 😊
Why would anyone want ABS? It's for inexperienced distracted drivers. I support Darwinism. And easy maintenance. And less weight. Why care how loud the electric motor is? I want durable and efficient. I couldn't care less ... Ever heard a Harley junk bike? How about a V8 hemi? You can talk to your sidekick and hear her. It sounds like nitpicking and dare I say: Swishy panti whining when you cry about EV sounds. If it's too silent, a deer impact will be what ends you. You need to be heard coming. Unless you're a stalker.
It always makes me smile when the camera pans towards a dog passing by.
You know out of spec in the beginning was interested in there being an affordable electric car (Kandi 27) for the 60% of American that live pay check to pay check to push forward the electric revolution, But everything Kyle does only shows just how much he doesn't understand the regular American public. He shows us what the other OEMs capabilites are compared to TESLA and it's a joke. They are way over priced with the inclusion of dealer mark ups and no one can afford them but the people like Kyle. If you truly care maybe look into trying to get affordable (
🤤🤤🤤
It's totally flawed:
-It's a sweatbox which no person in modern times would ever buy: it has no air conditioning! Even the cheapest ICE cars which cost nearly half of that have air conditioning!
In the proper car world with PHEVs and EVs a simple high-voltage electrics module can cost as much as a full engine swap for an ICE car...maybe the lower-quality Microlino parts will cost a bit less than the proper PHEV and EV parts, but expect surprises!
werent tiny cars supposed to be cheap??
Ami almost 10.000€, microlino almost 20.000€??
Why would anyone go for this when you can have an awesome new Yaris hybrid with almost full options for 22.000€??
Would be great if they could figure out a way to lower the price to 15,000€
Sad that we don't have that here.... but at 20,000 Euros starting price... PASS!
Cool yet terrible...
Designed for city, yet front door opens forward, like you need that space to get in....imagine parking then returning to find another vehicle parked close to the front end..
No rear view mirror, amazing that passed tuv tests, must have big blind spots?
Good to see a decent rear door and load space.
Wonder if there’s a fiat 500 electric? Now that would be better...
Max 19kW could possibly reffer to power of the motors, which would be about 21HP.
