I'm no fan of EV's (or SUV's), but in my opinion, this is where EV's shine. Small car, small battery, lightweight, fast-ish to charge, easy to park and with modest price (for an EV). As a city runaround, it makes a lot of sense and has a fun element. With EV's now so big, heavy and expensive and 100kWh batteries becoming the norm, the YoYo just sticks two fingers up to all that. Nice review too.
Well, yes, but no!. From an engineering perspective small cars are much more difficult to design ,especially to meet legislation, customer expectation and value. Larger cars are easier to design. The fixed costs of design, purchasing, manufacturing, transport, sale etc are almost the same for a Polo as they are for saya Q7. Emission and driver aid tech apply to all. And manufacturers are primarily focused on profit before all else.
@@karmanline2005 A big car has largely the same stuff in it as a small one they just move the corners further apart with a bit more cheap steel and double the price.

Very curious about this car. Great to see a small EV which can make sense. The price is quite high still but as you say it offers a lot more than an AMI. Great review as always Tish 🙂
I think the price point will be the hard sell. I’d love to see them become popular. You rightly state about being the right or wrong car. I’d love a car that can bridge our two major cities where I live. Sadly I’d have to stop along the way in this, to charge. With its very slow charge rate that then makes it the wrong choice for me with those ideals. Now if they quadrupled the charge rate, or supplied a 20kw battery version, this would be perfectly acceptable for my ideals already mentioned. That’s probably where the springer comes into it. But for city commutes, it’s perfect, albeit a bit pricey…. I can get secondhand Leafs locally that will do all that, for less….
Massively overpriced for what you get. But saying that my mobility scooter cost £6k, I can get next to no shopping on board. It doesn't have.a roof. The waterproofing of controls is questionable and I max out at 8 mph. Oh and it's recommended to replace both batteries every 300 miles. So what do I know?
You been to look into electric adult enclosed Trikes next time you are buying. That's how I get around. Can do 31mph some can go as fast as 40mph as a rest seat some even come with air von miw unfortunately mine did not and some even have a little boot but you can always use your rear seats for that if it does not have one. Could be a nice little in town runaround for a couple of 71 year old OAPs like us. The Tesla model Y is a bit overkill for the weekly shopping trip to Tesco's or the odd trip to visit local friends and relatives. Also a small car like this is going to find in town parking a lot easier. Very useful video, thank you very much.
absolutely. Also, 3d printed, so trim parts should be cheaper and easier to repair. Parking is another plus and to be honest, i drive a 5-seat car most of the time alone. Only negative is it needs to be priced under 15k, as you can buy a smart 4+2 for 14k.
Niche car for a niche market in my opinion. And when you gave the price I laughed out loud -- if it was 10K cheaper I''d consider it -- perhaps one day eh.... For commuting I'll stick to my Honda CB125 F. It cost me less than £3K new and has a tank range of over 400 miles at 140 mpg. I'll take getting wet for the cash in my pocket. It also goes 70 mph...
Absolutely fabulous presentation as always the car does what it says it does the car is for shopping and short trips and it will sell like we hot cakes 😊
Try it again with the windows shut and a/c on and see how far you can get. Looks interesting but I'm too old to drive around with the noise from open windows. With a bit higher top speed and a bit more range I would be tempted.
The range may not be the greatest, and the top speed is somewhat disappointing. But it's got personality for days, for sure. And if you don't have a big commute, it seems like a terrific option as a daily driver. Especially if you have access to a Level 2 at home. Terrific review. Wish we had options like this in the states.
No, no, no, it doesn't stand a chance against the Dacia Spring unless you're single and never want to go anywhere. At one point, I thought the Renault Megane driver was joining you in the front seat.
I'm sorry but I have a mini electric which I've had over 3 years and I can tell you it easily does more than 90miles. I get 110 miles winter with lights, heating etc and not ever running it out and usually have at least 10% left and I've had 155 miles in summer. One of the most efficient electric cars and I never run in green/eco mode it's either in normal or sport mode and driven to road speed limits obviously not going over them 😂 My average is 4.5 miles per kWh but I've seen 6. Anyone looking for a smallish EV should take a look at the mini. That's little car has a few nice quirky features but you'd get a decent used mini for similar money.
If only people would buy a car that perfectly suits their needs… this is very nice or those people who only use their car to commute to work, a bit of shopping in the weekends, and going on holiday simply means off to the nearest airport, mostly by train because of parking charges. And let’s face it, there are a few million people that this car would be Perfect for. Sadly however, not for me, towing a trailer for our camping holidays with our own Glamping gear, and planning to get a towing caravan in a few years, I’ll stick to my SUV.
An interesting funky looking little car perfect for the city, if it was £6 or £7k cheaper. It's just way, way too expensive for what it is. And I really wish motoring journalists would stop comparing it to the Citroen Ami, this is an actual car the Ami is a heavy quadracycle, a completely different class of vehicle not to mention the Ami is half the price.
I think its other problem it has is you can buy a 24 plate Corsa-e or an MX-30 or Leaf for the same £16k. A brand new MG4 can be had for £20k now. I guess one standout place it might see if people who live in Victorian terraced houses that dont have a proper front garden. So the price doesnt matter really as its all about the size. Its it the best tiny car (well its not a car but a quadricycle) well probably yes.
If i was really eager to charge quicker i would ask the distributer to modify the charging side of things with a simple upgrade at a nice price. What if this could speed up things to 1 Hour or less. I mean LOTUS can do it why not YOYO? Some companies might consider leasing these for their employees if they pay the Energy to charge it themselves. It is a whole new category of investment.
I see a few issues with this, for a small car the doors look quite long which in a crowded supermarket car park will make like difficult, the battery when new gives possibly 91 on a good day with the wind behind you but what happens over time and in the winter when you are using lights, wipers and heating/fan. For mums this is a non starter, it you have more than 2 children you are stuffed and the price is just too high, so on face value small cheap and unusual, but in practice nah.
It seems a false argument to say it's cheaper than the train. As my gas guzzling Seat Ibiza would only cost me £6.69 to do the same trip. You could have a petrol car that went right down to ~12 mpg before the train would be cheaper!
I quite like all the SUV's Tish 😂 my most adult feeling moment in my life was moving from a hatchbacks which I had always had to an SUV. No more having to mess around putting seats down, one of those retractable parcel shelfs (I hate with a passion traditional parcel shelfs), nice seating position, good in any weather. Went for a hybrid so it's economical. Can do long journeys and not feel it. I'm going to plant the SUV flag here strong 😂
Years ago I had to drive a delivery van with a squared steering wheel. Made my hands ache. Not a good design plan. Not seen one since. They didn’t last long.
The problem with quoting average daily mileage and average commuter mileage is that is does take into account those times where you need to drive further to visit friends and family or when you need to pick up the kids or do the weekly shop!
Or the time when you need to pick up a tumble dryer and move house whilst carrying 7 people for 500 miles. If everyone thought like that we would all be driving round in large mpvs. And some people do. Not all cars need to do everything though. Why do smart cars or Lambos exist?
@@simonkensington-fellows6142 Yeah, this is a second car/commute only to replace an ebike in foul weather. But for £16k for 90 miles range they're having a laugh.

My concern is in a collision, when the people inside the car become micro people.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating!! 🙂
Nearly 16k? It’s only half a car I can’t see why sure it is nice but might make sense on a lease option
I see half Smart and half Renault Twizzy
Smartie or Twat
I love it! Perfect little run around errand car. Love this particular colour combination as well.
Glad you like it!
That front wiper needs a rethink. It doesn't clean enough of the windscreen...
Have to agree with everyone else. Dacia Spring takes the trophy. That’s fully a car
Hybrids are he way to go imo, that charge the battery when driven!
So why should I change my smart fortwo for this? Metal for plastic, I don't think so!.
On Octopus it would have cost 70p for the charge overnight 🙂
That’s so good isn’t it! My charger is at my parent, so for now they’re sticking with Hive.
It's like a little flying sprout! Great review, as always!
Exactly what I'm looking for . Perfect for my needs as a 79yrs old . Shopping & short city drives , but HEAVY on the price ! 😩
I have electric windows, drilled disk brakes, alloy wheels, leather seats and a radio in mine :) . It does me perfect for the time being.
Would share a link unfortunately it's not possible to do that on You Tube 😢 .
Awe here you go,

Next time your are buying look up Electric Adult enclosed Trikes. You can do 31 to 40mph in them depending in the Trike and have a range from 50km to 100km.
You get alloy wheels, electric windows, leather seats, drilled disc brakes and a radio as well as a roof and some even have a boot. I posted a link below.
A lady from church drives a first gen Hyundai Kona EV. I'm sure that would have been a better choice for you.
absolutely. Also, 3d printed, so trim parts should be cheaper and easier to repair. Parking is another plus and to be honest, i drive a 5-seat car most of the time alone. Only negative is it needs to be priced under 15k, as you can buy a smart 4+2 for 14k.
Yup. RE Intro. Variety is the spice of. M….. life…. I’ve owned a VW XL1. 3 or 4 microcars / Asians. In the motor trade. God some crazy cars out there
Niche car for a niche market in my opinion.
One of the most efficient electric cars and I never run in green/eco mode it's either in normal or sport mode and driven to road speed limits obviously not going over them 😂
My average is 4.5 miles per kWh but I've seen 6. Anyone looking for a smallish EV should take a look at the mini.
That's little car has a few nice quirky features but you'd get a decent used mini for similar money.
I saw this in Italy twelve months ago in Torino.
Train is: Social, Safer, Faster in the City, Can take Bicycle, & MUCH CHEAPER travel MANAGEMENT.
City driving and local runabout , brilliant.
It can’t even hit the national speed limit
If i was really eager to charge quicker i would ask the distributer to modify the charging side of things with a simple upgrade at a nice price. What if this could speed up things to 1 Hour or less. I mean LOTUS can do it why not YOYO? Some companies might consider leasing these for their employees if they pay the Energy to charge it themselves. It is a whole new category of investment.
I think you're right, defiantly looking at the bigger picture!
Where's the cd player? Physical playback media is needed to stop manufacturers slapping tons of subscription fees into car functions.
SUVs are built higher and are great for ease of entry exit for older people. Great for towing.
It seems a false argument to say it's cheaper than the train. As my gas guzzling Seat Ibiza would only cost me £6.69 to do the same trip.
You could have a petrol car that went right down to ~12 mpg before the train would be cheaper!
That car looks like it came out of a 1980s sci-fi movie, given that we are 40 years further on that seems rather apt.
What about safety systems, boot space, ncap ratings, baby seat compatibility, acceleration, etc. etc.
Your review was magnificent, thank you so much, keep up the great work.
@@timscott3027 they exist usually as 2nd or 3rd vehicles.
@@simonkensington-fellows6142 Yeah, this is a second car/commute only to replace an ebike in foul weather. But for £16k for 90 miles range they're having a laugh.
Don't forget the range of the batteries will only decrease after all those charges.
Enjoyed the video, but it's a good advert for the spring
I can understand where you’re coming from. I was wondering if when taxation changes, this will have more of an appeal as it’s not technically a car…. 🤔 only time will tell. Thank you for watching
@@AutoSocialUK Genuine question - What is it classified as ?
We know the Reliant was actually classified as a Motorbike and sidecar but this ?
I was surprised at how expensive it was, I was expecting about £6000. I Could buy 8 second hand vehicals
I’ve seen bigger tins of beans! Would it fit a pair of shoes and a handbag in the boot?
For a moment I thought it was a Jonny cab.
If they could get the price down this is an interesting and, seemingly, capable micro car.
If Smart and a Twizzy had a child …
Hi There , WOW The Car looks Great , And Amazed at how little it cost to do your Journey , i Have 2 Dogs large and small , i wonder if they would be able to sit behind the seat if the parcel shelf came out , But looks a Brill car and the colour suits it , Thank you for sharing , Take care , 👍
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately I think theyd be a little squished in the back but hopefully we start to see more and more cars like this.
Great video Tish, the first ev that makes any sense !! the car the Citroen Ami should of been with a sensible top speed.
The Citroen Ami was designed for people in France who don't want to take a driving test (really).
