Chinese Li-Ion Charger - Fake Terminals Going Nowhere !!!

- This is a really amazing piece. Just like any other Chinese battery charger, it has a very poor mains isolation, EU plug that doesn't fit EU socket, slight overvoltage, no fuse or EMI filter, .... But on the top of it, it has two pairs of 9V terminals that go nowhere!!! It pretends to be able to charge two rechargeable 9V batteries, but the contacts are really not connected to anything! This is just absolutely awesome. I have never seen this before.
I didn't draw the schematic because the circuit is almost the same as in this 18650 Li-Ion cell charger:

1 screw is heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeearre.... Actually I'm falling in love with your accent... 😂😂😂
Outta Syllabus me too. I subscribed for this accent. My 4 year old Niece loves him for his voice
The 9V PP3 clips that go nowhere are funny. Also, in many of the ebay listings they call it "universal charger" and claim it charges 1.2V NiMH cells too :)
technically true it can charge anything except it blasts
Good videos as always, pls make more videos like this . . . reviewing Chinese gadgets.
Thanks a lot DGW.
I am waiting for your new videos these are so useful thanks
wonderful video . like continue
The accent ... gives video very interesting interesting listening :D
I have one of those. Though it's a USA plug version. Unlike yours, the 9volt battery terminals were actually connected. I guess maybe they saved money on it's construction by reusing the same housing for all the different versions of this charger and just used shorter screws for the 9 volt battery terminals. In mine, the screws go all the way into the PCB where they are soldered into place.
do they work? is there a separate 9V circuit in the charger?
They seem to. Though I don't have any rechargeable 9v batteries to test with it. LED seems to change when I put a normal 9v battery into it.
They expect no one to actually have rechargeable 9v batteries so they dont bother making it real.
7 people couldn't charge their rechargeable 9V Batteries. 😂😅😀😃😆
It will work perfectly in DK, no socket problem
watched a lot of DGW videos on DODGEE power adaptors. I'm both amused and doubtful to use any of these.
"There's A Board In It With Some Components" - 😆 One thing about those 9v battery terminals, they can be unscrewed and you can make a decent connector with them, or cut the entire plastic base they are screwed to and use that as part of a connector.
that's great deal 2 free connectors for the price of 1 charger
Well done 👍🏻👍🏻 🇮🇳 || Kuki 14|01|2022
Sir battery charge ko repairing kaise Karen
Hi,
I bought one of these awhile ago... the first & last poor purchase I made. 😐😑
Somehow i knew those 9v battery terminals were fake, but it does charge the 18650.
You said it was too high in voltage, but that was off load, so is it ok under load?
It does charge.... but the 0.8mm isolation is dodgy. I will try to fully charge a battery and measure the voltage...
Ok, I did, and the battery was really charged to 4.28V. So it seems that the charging voltage equals to the open circuit voltage.
Bloody hell, a china made supply with good load regulation, thats a first LOL :).
Im really supprised with that, i expected it to drop like a stone.

I just wonder how bad the EMI is, the layout is pathetic not only in terms of isolation, but also in terms of track length. Switching node that snakes all the way to the other side of the board, gimme a break! I have built a UC3842 based flyback some time ago, and it works fine, if you do not count the extreme EMI it creates. My PS operates in DCM, so I know there's large peak currents. But still, the output has a very weird ripple with a ringing on it. My last hope is to rewind the transformer to force the converter into CCM :/ I would like to hear your thoughts about this :)
Yes, the board layout is disastrous. The transformer on one end of the board and the transistor on the other end. There's also no EMI filter, no Y1 capacitor, no snubber and so on. ... In your power supply, the EMI can be reduced using EMI filter, Y1 capacitor and so. The ringing is probably because of bad time constant of your feedback. Instead of regulating the pulse width evenly, it is probably dropping pulses or alternating between short and long pulses. There should be an apropriate RC filter in your feedback so the feedback is not too fast or too slow. Do you have a schamatic of what you've built?
I tried EMI filter, it helped a bit; but I also have pretty strong radiated EMI :( I tried the following: CM choke + caps, Y1 cap, many combinations of resistor/cap across the error amp for loop compensation, but it's still there. The schematic you can see here at 3:09 : /watch?v=KyzDt8TOays
I did have a little problem with loop compensation (the PS was hissing from the trafo), but I fixed that by increasing the value of the cap across error amp. You can see that here along with my board layout. /watch?v=32dShC6adzU
It is not the best, but I wouldn't say it's the shittest design either.
Here's how the ripple looks like: imgur.com/a/Jkwmo
P.S. I really appreciate your responses, you're the one who hooked me into SMPS :)
european plugs are not all like yours, I live in Italy and it would be perfect for my plugs :)
anyway i love your videos :)
"Amazing chinese charger" HAHAHAHA
I don't know which part of Europe Count Vlad here is from, but this plug does fit in a lot of European power plugs..
He lives in Czech Republic, what country are you talking about that has non-compliant sockets?
The Schuko (Germany and Hungary certainly uses those) socket is also recessed and it won't fit. We had ungrounded (flatter, but still not completely flat) sockets back then (cca. 30 years ago or so), but nowadays you can only find them in very old houses only which hasn't been renovated in the last few decades.
Those 9v battery are for charging the 3.7v Liion battery when mains is off but i dont understand why are not connected Diode Gone Wild
It fits in Denmark, here the ground is female and not male like in Czech. Also most of our plugs are not recessed, and house wall plugs are not recessed.
3 screws WoW they really went all out on the screws.
Maybe its a 9volt battery stand.
12,000 mAh lol i mean come on, over rated by more then an order of magnitude.
If your going to lie you might as well go big.
What else struck me is imported capacitors from Taiwan - ChengX. Now they aren't what you'd call high quality, but they almost have to be more expensive than China mainland capacitors?
edson 30 /9 / 2 0 1 7 gueirreiro BAHIA
Lol that's hilarious
That chinese thing only fits flat european sockets, that nowadays are not that common anymore.
sir my mi powerbank 20000mah second port is not working it delivered charge when the first port is plug in... please solve what is the failure
In italy they are regular those sokets
12000 mah battery?😂😂
Marking-wise no problem :). Actually it is 500 mAh. It's just my guineapig.
😂😂😂😂
As fake as the two 9v battery terminals XD
9v contatcs is holder bateries
There is new phone out that has 12000 mah battery.
I own one I got years ago but its actually fully functional.
why dont you make the li-ion charger on your website as diy video?
way better than this stuff
Maybe one day :) Or I could also build a charger using the charging chip from the chinese charger, connecting it to a 5V from USB instead of the dodgy SMPS.
looking forward to it
haha, as Chinese Hang-Low, as it can get
It is indian plug
this type of plug use in india, Pakistan, Bangladesh.
electronics lover old Soviet plugs are like this as well.
Indonesian use this type too
And Italians as well
It is a european socket but for type C and F plugs
Duggy charger also
Duggy battery 😅
It'd fit in an Italian socket???
I guess the 9v is meant as a selling point for it but not actually meant to be used
Old 220 sockets were shallow
It is russian plug I think - Je to ruská zástrčka myslím :-)
Fake 9 Volt Connector lol :-) This Charger is not save...
yes my freend et les batterys USA elle son meilleur que les autre non ok
I hate Chinese crap too...but did you notice that he didn't show anywhere where it specifically said it charged 9v batteries? Why doesn't this guy open his computer... also made in China, and see if there are any empty slots or plugs on the power supply? There's lots of crap built with unused equipment. There might be an actual 9v charger built on the same case.
You was upside down again !!
There is a flat one for Europe
Not Chinese, it made by China
Thats what Chinese means in this context. In English we describe anything that comes from China as Chinese. We talk about Chinese goods, Chinese food, Chinese people, its the correct usage. The same is true for every country. If a car was made in Japan we call it a Japanese car, if it was made in America we call it an American car.
Hi
I'm very frustrated with the video
