- In this video i'll be trying to mix one of my songs in Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio to release on apple music!! I later realized that the audio of this video was shot in mono so you cant hear any of the effects but I think the video still gets the point across lol. I'll follow up when the song is released!

btw what we hear isnt dolby atmos binaural, if you want to know how it sounds, create a loopback send from your mac audio to logic input, and turn atmos on and you will also hear his voice sounding as if you have a 2 monitors infront of you, all of this video was in stereo technically
LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) describes how loud a song is. If you ask me about the loudness of my songs and I answer "They peak at the classic -0,2 dB, with true peak usually slightly above 0 dB", that means they are normalized and I want some tiny distortion. If I answer "I tend to get a LUFS of around -14 to -11, whilst this crazy and amazing industrial producer I know push things twice as hard as me, so he's like a -7 kinda guy", that indicates how loud our tracks are, and you'd be right to assume he's pushing those compressors hard, and I ain't. There's more to LUFS than this. An artist or even producer can get by without paying too much attention to the loudness units, but if you're at a mastering studio and paying decent money, and they don't know what LUFS is, run for the hills. :)
When I do get around to mix in Atmos, I'm thinking I'll do Atmos versions of a polar ambient remix concept I have going. But super love that your atmosing lofi! 😎

L.Dre I’ve been procrastinating getting started with Atmos on Logic and this video was exactly what I needed to finally get started!
Regarding LUFS -18 my understanding is that the end reading of the Integrated part of the meter should be -18 AFTER the whole song plays through.
So even if it hits -17 somewhere within the song, as long as the Integrated full song reading by end of the song is -18 then it meets the standard Apple is requiring.

No, the whole track should be -18 lufs. Why if 118 audio Object has to play back in 2.0, it needs 18 db of Head room So it doesn't get louder and louder and distort so it needs that head room That spec was Created by dolby not apple.

Hi, thanks so much for the useful information. I just have a little problem with my Dolby Atmos project. after I got an expert, The ADM BWF file doesn't have some of the lines and sounds and seems that they wasn't exist at all but in normal bounce they're good. please help me how can I fix that thank you so much🙏🏻

so first we have to mix and master our track in stereo and then bring the stems in new projects and then start mixing in dolby am I right this is a big confusion for me

I addressed it in the description but after uploading I realized my screen recording software at the time only does mono recordings 🤦🏽♂️

Dolby Atmos is a gimmick to sell more speakers and other hardware (wait until APPLE gets into the home hi-fi game). It's totally unnecessary for music. It's like 3D for movies. It's just not good.
We humans listen in 3D not stereo 😂, so atmos is really natural to us.
The binaural option in the master won't even appear as an available option, does anybody know how to fix that?

Oh no, you just started a religious argument by bringing up LUFS
You said “stems”. I think you mean “multitracks”. Stems are summed stereo groups of instruments. Like drum stems would be a stereo file of all the drums. Guitar stems would be all guitars. Stems are stereo sums. Not single multi tracks. No one mixes stems. Stems are usually for mastering. Just thought I’d let you know what the difference is.
I don’t think this term has a single definition, but instead has different but similar definitions that people inherit from wherever they happened to learn about digital production. I was taught that stems are just audio files of completed and stage/mix ready sound, regardless of if they are multi-instrumental or not.
If it’s a guitar riff which has been compressed and effects added and is ready to be dropped into a master project? It’s a stem. If it’s a whole suite of strings that you just need as a backing track to a composition you’re working on so bounce it out as a single audio file? That’s a stem.
Although when I say that, I acknowledge it’s a stem to me, not to everyone.
Well you can go crazy on it because you are not mixing you are placing instruments around the system, you are not actually mixing. If you mix is not good in the first place you are going to run into trouble.
and dolby expects me to pay 269€ for their productions suite just to mix with it on pro tools, fuck this, im mixing on pro tools, and then sending the audio to logic just to reference, what the hell kind of deal does apple have with them to get this implemented for free
