Dude this is so helpful. You’re translating the parlance of the panner into something contextual that is starting to make sense!

Thanks so much for this series! I've been mixing in atmos using headphones even if I intend to export in stereo because I've found that these panning options add a sense of depth and clarity to my mixes. It seems that by using these panning options it makes it easier for different tracks/instruments to not clash with each other, thus eliminating the need for so much corrective EQ. Have you found this to be true or is it just some placebo effect I'm experiencing?
Your channel is hands down one of the best resources in YT for Logic Pro, thanks for this!

Chris, when do you show us how to place tracks into 3D objects? Do we need add’l 3rd party software to configure those tracks?
Inquiring minds want to know! 😉

Chris, can you do another update on Smart Tempo? Ex - I have multiple old songs made on ADATs that I copied into Logic 2 tracks at a time (since I didn't have all 24 tracks of Adat machines anymore). So the tempos, beats, all tracks are not locked (just manually moved) so they are close but not locked so i can change tempo. So when imported, the tempos are at 120 for all the old songs even though the actual tempos are all different. So help fixing the tempo and locking the tracks would be helpful. AND I've had virtual singer produce new vocal tracks for old songs not tempo locked (and sending me the new file in dropbox) then importing it to Logic. So I have the original vocals and the new vocals but the new ones don't sync the songs tempo and timing exactly because they were bounced 2 tracks at a time at (120) in the first place.
    Thoughts ??????????????

Thanks for this series. Did you run into trouble switching project from stereo to atmos, objects getting out of sync? This happened to all three projects where I've had a finished stereo mix and wanted to switch it to atmos. I rendered all of my midi instruments, even bounced a lot of tracks with burned in processing, still they get out of sync?! If I start a new atmos project it works fine. Latest project I mixed in stereo with atmos in mind (used less buses etc...) and still the same problem. I now have basically finished atmos mix that I cant export as everything gets out of sync.

We can see everything. Yes. But when I'll be able to actualy hear with my headphone and my ears a sound realy behind or above my head from an Atmos track Without Any Visual Reference I'll begin to seriously work on that. 😁
So far atmos is, my opinion, an excellent tool, but only if you listen with 12 speakers. For the avarage listening conditions, 85% of people listen to music with headphones, it doesn't work yet.
After months (18...) of experimentations with Atmos I've decided to stay in stereo. When this tool and its rendering will be convincing I'll be back to Atmos.
And don't get me wrong I realy would love to compose in 3D, I love immersive creation, but if my listeners can't hear it with their headphones...

Hi FLH3, I've had the same concerns myself. However, the way I see it you need the 12 speakers for "professional" production work. There is considerable time delay editing to send to each speaker that isn't the one directly in front of you. I use Apple AirPods to listen to music and Apple TV. And while watching an episode of The Blacklist I could hear music behind me and above my head! I've delved into Atmos a little and have not had success. But with Apple Music and Apple TV you can hear Spacial Audio with AirPods. But, I'll stick with stereo for now also.

@@Giannboy1 Maybe I after 18 months of trial I still not know how to use this with a pair of headphones. OR the psychoacoustic effect still needs a visual reference point, like in a movie or a TV series, to be efficient (I quote you: "while watching an episode of..."). The day when we can put a pair of headphones on someone in the street and ask her/him to show us with the finger where the sound comes from with a somehow accurate result I'll be convinced.
And again I'm impatient for this moment.
