I love how you can let SHeart make her own decision. And if you managed to get her to doubt her beliefs and have a strong enough relationship she'll throw the spear away of her own volition.

@@SirAlric82 one path you find that your friend has good nature at heart, the other path you fight to persuade your friend and finally after 40 hours get through to her, and of course there's the other path you fight to persuade your friend but despite all the experiences, feelings and turmoil, she cannot defy her goddess. The Shadowheart/Nightsong scene was, for me, one of the best in a video game I've seen in a while. When I played through it I actually teared up. I am glad I was in chat too see this one live too.

It's honestly _much_ easier to deal with him in the room you meet him as opposed to the big Shadowfell arena.
He has less minions to help him, less room to run (and if he retreats outside of the room then he can't try to Cloudkill the party) and apart from the big guy none of the mobs are especially dangerous outside of Balthazar himself.

As a fan of necromancy and vampires myself, this was my first exposure to the goddess Shar and I liked what she is all about.
The protector of darkness, secrets and loss.
But the more I researched who Shar is, how she came to be and what goals she has, the more I came to believe it's all a whole lot of BS she likes to tell people and her REAL goal is THE END of EVERYTHING that exists.
It then makes sense that followers would have to be brainwashed into believing that killing everyone and ending everything would be a sensible way to deal with the dark things in life.

    • @JordanJumpin

Selune fought (and lost a sh*t-ton of power) to save existence/life. Where Shar stayed strong of her selfish interest.
What a beautifull scene. Love that if you save Nightsong, it's grandiose, beautifull, captivating. Where if you don't and kill her, there is not cutscene, no music, just a dark (short) moment.

You can actually cause Shadowheart and Laezel to become best friends after this.
    - You need to first stop them from even having the killing cutscene - or have very high relation between them so Shadowheart spares Laezel herself without interference.
    - Laezel also becomes a lot nicer after the creche Quest, and she can very much relate to Shadowheart after this point.
I feel like If my main character had not romanced her Laezel would have done
it in my playthough. (Oh and Wyll Romanced Karlach in my Playthrough)

@@aziouss2863 I dont exactly know how it works, but your Origin characters react to your actions. In my case, I went to the cresh very early, and after that, Laezel is much nicer, and Shadowheart does not hate her as much, similarly Shadowheart got a lot nicer after starting her romance. So jeah, it kinda never triggered.

BTW just wanted to let you know that Halsin can use Medium armor as a druid. He can be much much sturdier if you get him out of those robes. He is a moon druid so his main focus is not on casting spells but it is on transforming into strong animals. If you use his Wildshape that is on the right side then you can choose more powerful animals than just the bear

LOL "This thing is kinda cool." - Referring to the Blood of Lathander. An item which gives you a get-out-of-death-free card once per day, gives you a 6th level spell well before level 11, and blinds any undead in range (giving them disadvantage on attacks/checks)... And available super early on. That thing isn't a melee powerhouse by any stretch but, in the hands of a caster (like a cleric), it's absolutely busted.

There's never a way to talk through it with chaotic or neutral evil characters; unless you are deceiving them until the correct moment. They will backstab everyone; even allies. Lawful Evil is really the only evil alignment that will keep their word, but theres often a catch.

In that combat with Balthazar, I was yelling, RING THE BELL! I really wanted to see if Flesh would kill Balthazar for you since you had his bell. hahaha
There is a book you can find many copies of in the game, titled The Unclaimed. It tells the story of a cleric of Shar who did all Shar's bidding, gave up her memories to become worthy, but in the end, Shar abandoned her, teaching her the final lesson of being forgotten. The book is a foreshadowing and warning for Shadowheart. This is exactly what would have happened to her if she became a Dark Justiciar. Shar is a really nasty goddess.
I got chills when the Nightsong transformed. I loved Shadowheart's redemption.
