Spectacular short film. Witty, yet gritty and realistic dialog, solid plot, nice use of a circular story, and excellently written characters. Solid work!
He should have left the kid with 2 cans of food and that 1911 as soon as he took it upon himself to brake cover and run into an blind structure unarmed. based on their cloths and the condition of that optic, they've been doing the lone wolf thing for at least 6 months. Yet the kid still hasn't figured out that this is not a game and actively seeks to be a danger to the both of them. There are 5 key rules for lone wolfing in boogaloo 1. Size and weight constraints are law. (no carrying useless shit like a Vader mask.) 2. You are the minority. (majority of people will gather into micro community. This automatically shows that the lone wolf has actively chosen to go against that natural method of survival.) 3. Never sleep at or close to nightfall. (cover of darkness is default for those who lack the training to engage in active aggressive combat. Making night time the most likely time for a raid or attack.) 4. You will be doing all of the things. (sanitation, cooking, hunting, fire building, wood cutting, security, etc.) 5. You are the hunted and you are ALONE! (the lone sheep is an easy target and is doomed to abide by it's own thoughts. The main benefit to micro community is that you have other people to help. That means calling you out when you have a stupid idea or plan and being able to work together to devise the best solution. By yourself you are a slave to your own experience and lack there of which will always result in fatality when faced by an outnumbering opposition. No matter how good you are, a intermediate team of dedicated people can and will take you out of the game. That's just a matter of time.)
@Family Man well, i don't know your family but with my family if my dad gets hurt/killed then i might be a 16 year old 188cm 90kg defense league member(we carry and shoot guns reguraly) , but i can't replace my dad and his knowledge/wisdom to provide/protect/care for my family
@Family Man my point was that your family depends on you and there's only one of you and "one is none and two is one" so having a small group is reasonable cause something could happen to you and having someone close to you (who you really trust) is important
Great short film. Never stand in front of a damn window. Never emerge from the forest without first knowing what you're walking into. Always have a descent rifle with a scope and/or binoculars. Always take the boots. They should have stuck with the cave, not as obvious as a house and they always maintain a constant temperature well above freezing.
Probably the best short film I have ever watched 10/10, I like how there was consequences to the younger brothers actions, the big brother was like “alright let’s get out of this house” but the little brother stayed and instantly got punished for it, and then he learned to be a smarter survivor. Absolutely brilliant
While this is a good short film I have watched so many "shorts" I couldn't even give you a total......But this one wouldn't be in my top ten....maybe the Top 20 though...which would be pretty good because I know I have watched hundreds of shorts if not a thousand or more through the years...
How am I only watching this in December? Fantastic cinematography and great acting. The director really captured their character development. I did not want this movie to end. This director should not stop doing what he is doing. All around fantastic. Cheers.
You can't be that way' him and his brother were a problem they were nothing but murders people must help each other and form some sort of law and order.just like the old west 'they have to try to rebuild .
The only problem I seen with it was the use of a high powered rifle, which is only good with big game and humans from long range distance. Not the best best gun for long term survival as small fast moving game gets away.
@@gregzeigler3850 you can use a high power for small game, and you can reload them and cast bullets, strip bullets for components etc. i do agree with you in theory, but a rimfire such as .22 is a one shot no reload. with the craze in usa over the .223, id guess that would be the most popular high power, and they are still fine for a rabbit. you can even reduce load to use cast. struggle to see how small fast moving game can avoid a high power at 3000fps and cant dodge a .22 at 1200fps
This is under the assumption that it is a world wide event, otherwise there would be immediate invading forces. Very well done film- on par with high budget
Name one scenario where this would become the paradigm for a country that is today in the first world and it be an isolated occurrence whereby another country would invade. Keep in mind the entire military structure of that country including forces abroad and their government including officials abroad have to also somehow die and somehow their allies aswell. Now I personally live in the United States, name one force that can occupy the land mass with their current standing army.

I watch these post-apocalyptic-short films because they teach me a lot of life-saving lessons, to be prepared for what might come to pass in this country, soon. I am learning how to survive in a totally hostile environment. Trust no one. Be on your guard and alert to even the direction of the winds, or the falling of a leaf. Do not loose focus or change your plan hapzardly; do not take your eyes off your goal for a weak person around you. Go on your own, and survive if this is what is required, or you'll pay a heavy price. Don't approach an unknown place, carelessly. Use all of your senses. Leave the weak behind.

Down to Gehenna or up to the Throne, He travels the fastest who travels alone. White hands cling to the tightened rein, Slipping the spur from the booted heel, Tenderest voices cry " Turn again!" One may fall but he falls by himself-- Falls by himself with himself to blame. One may attain and to him is pelf-- Loot of the city in Gold or Fame. Plunder of earth shall be all his own Who travels the fastest and travels alone. Wherefore the more ye be helpen-.en and stayed, Stayed by a friend in the hour of toil, Sing the heretical song I have made-- His be the labour and yours be the spoil. I know that the sound of guns cocking sounds cool in movies but in the beginning the guy cocked his rifle twice without firing it and then every time he picked it up. In a situation such as they were in a person would have a round in the chamber every minute of the day as sometimes just the second it takes to chamber a round could be life or death.
Totally agree. I never understood the reasoning behind "oh, let me chamber this round in right before I assault [insert area/building/people/person]" here. It's loud, gives your position away, and just dumb. Always have one in chamber. Same goes for people that believe the sound of racking a pump action is a great way to scare off an intruder... You just gave your position away or lost a valuable time advantage. Cheers!
Brilliant! It's just a shame that the young bloke had to learn the hard way that there are no friends when it comes to survival. And the only one he could trust was killed by his stupidity. What a great lesson for all those out there who seem to lack the "common sense gene ". If your not willing to kill then your willing to die.
but, they weren't surviving - they were merely existing until it was their turn to die. the way basic human biology works is that neither your community nor your species can survive when you have only two related males living alone and killing anyone who comes in range. Had they not killed 'Anna' ... they may have had a chance. She might have been a spy, or she might have not. The guy at the end certainly wasn't a spy. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time - and met one of the surviving dregs of humanity who had a gun and no brain.
@@ryancurtis386 everyone here seems to pointlessly kill each other, also everyone seems to be brainless I mean they saw two people knew one was alive and possibly armed and then left cover before the threat was eliminated, and they didn't even bother to search the place. The sniper shot the first guy in the head and somehow missed the other one. The guy inside had cover and could have started firing on the people outside since they were in the open and in the field behind the hey, he could have pinned them all down or shot them, meanwhile he is in the house and can move freely because they can't see trough walls. And finally they are obviously running low on supplies so why leave a perfectly edible human, a freshly killed one.

Thank you and the others for all your time and effort on this production.
This is why you need outdoor dogs to be a trip wire around your home. My dogs may give their lives going after the invasion team but they will give me precious seconds to “watch my lane!” Yard dogs have upset the plans of some of the best trained military people.
True but when food is already scarce feeding them will be a more than a chore and if not properly fed they could be compromised or even worse turn on its owner. In either case I'd still use trip wire as backup.
I personally wouldn't have a hampster to feed in an apocalypse but any preppers that believe its a good idea to have big dogs should be especially careful should the cupboards get low and small children are around.
The big brother died because of the younger brothers lack of self awareness of the situation due to the big brothers protection. Even though the younger brother learned his lesson but the cost of the big brothers life. I guess the spartan teachings apply in a post apocalyptic world. I hope I and my family will never experience it. Good short film by the way. Definitely will recommend it to my friends.
@Stefan Urban you may be right, this is where humanity kicks in to choose, even in the worst of times. But they had a choice as well. we know nothing of the of the brothers up to the point where we started. what sent the older brother to the point of how he saw others without compassion, clearly the younger brother still had compassion. Compassion, that was lost to the older one. And at the end the younger brother lost as well.
@Stefan Urban both of you are right. Had the little brother listened to his big brother and kept moving they would have lasted longer. BUT the big brother killing the girl brought the group looking for him so it was likely inevitable he'd die by their hands anyways.
@Stefan Urban That wasn't her group. That was a separate group, the stone cold killing trio from the opening scene. I thought that was obvious, at least that was my interpretation. Her group had 12 individuals and didn't pursue them after they got the supplies in the woods.
Really good. Bravo to the director, the cast and the cinematographer. It's the story that matters. Most of the post-apocalypse films are pretentious and boring. This goes straight to the point without hot-air pontificating about morality, loneliness and all the other bunk.
Seventy two hours is somewhat of a myth. Stores and gas stations...sure. But there are weeks worth of food in the world and weeks more planted at any given time. There are huge amounts of fuel in storage facilities / refineries. So before this becomes contentious, consider that farmers and oil workers know more about their own businesses than preppers do. You have more than 3 days food in your house right now...and another 3 at the stores, etc. Also...72 hours is a world average...not Western standard. There's a weeks worth if calories in any vending machine...add some venison...
@@chetisanhart3457 I agree, to an extent. 72 hours isnt so much a myth as it is a standard. Its a standard set by FEMA to have a "stay in place" supply of necessities. Typically, FEMA thinks they can rescue us all in 3 days. Do you trust FEMA? Or any other government agencies for that matter? If you do then youre relying on the very people who will most likely be the ones who turn off all our power, etc. So, if you dont trust them, whos advice do you rely on? Preppers? Most preppers are youtube educated. A few have real experience and military backgrounds. This is NOT a recommendation to join a militia. Most militias have been documented down to the individual members. There are multiple end world senerios which are percisely exacting to the very spot you are standing in with multiple variables based on where youre standing that particular minute during any given day. You simply cannot prepare for all of it. There are too many ways any preparation would be useless. What do you do then? Like anyone else...use common sense, be fully aware of your surroundings at all times, know how long it takes to get to your survival stash and compare it to the time you might have to get to it and get out. But what if you work some place where there isnt any news being broadcast all day long? If theres incoming nukes you only have 30 minutes. By the time anyone who might care about you gets a phone call through youll probably already be vapors. Any prep you did was useless. Prepping requires so much to be useful. It almost has to be a day and night obsession. Obsession in the sense where youll most likely be so obvious that everyone around you will know youre a prepper and think youre a total nut case. Fact is, you pretty much will be. 72 hours? Thats some government lackies idea of a "nice round number" to attempt to inspire calm among the pleebs so chaos doesnt break out at first "breaking news" telecast. Government IS GOING TO LIE TO YOU. The reason for this is is because something called "continuity of government" which is a far greater priority than there being anyone left for government to rule over. The pleebs are expendable, government is not (their perspective, not mine). If the pleebs go crazy, the roads and every other means to escape are immediately filled with these "non essential/undesirable" people. If the egresses are blocked the elites cannot get their families out of harms way. So simple solution: dont tell anyone until all the important people and their families are safe and fuck the average Jack and Jill and their families. Hopefully Jack and Jill have there homes outside the blast and fallout areas and work close to home and have enough supplies for a FEW MONTHS or even several years. The oil workers who know their industry and where all that extra oil WAS, before everything went up in smoke, are most likely dead. So are the others you mentioned.

Plus if the dog becomes a problem, you can always eat it.

Excellent movie!!! I wanted to watch a series or a whole 2 hour movie of this. Well done 👍. Kudos the the actors Hollywood has nothing on these guys.
You can tell a good film from a bad one when its hard to not visibly display the emotions you feel from said film. Incredible stuff.
The opening scene was an eye opener for me. In SHTF, that’s exactly how you can go while minding your own business.

Wow, a great short film. Brutally honest and pulls no punches.
With in the first 4 minutes you can already see and feel their dynamic as brothers.
Best P.Apoc film I have watched since "The Road"
That was a dang good movie! Excellent quality and great storyline.
There are 5 key rules for lone wolfing in boogaloo
1. Size and weight constraints are law. (no carrying useless shit like a Vader mask.)
2. You are the minority. (majority of people will gather into micro community. This automatically shows that the lone wolf has actively chosen to go against that natural method of survival.)
3. Never sleep at or close to nightfall. (cover of darkness is default for those who lack the training to engage in active aggressive combat. Making night time the most likely time for a raid or attack.)
4. You will be doing all of the things. (sanitation, cooking, hunting, fire building, wood cutting, security, etc.)
5. That's just a matter of time.)
it's just a movie.

This was amazing!!! Literally better than any full length film I’ve seen in a very long time
Probably the best short film I have ever watched 10/10, I like how there was consequences to the younger brothers actions, the big brother was like “alright let’s get out of this house” but the little brother stayed and instantly got punished for it, and then he learned to be a smarter survivor. Absolutely brilliant
While this is a good short film I have watched so many "shorts" I couldn't even give you a total......But this one wouldn't be in my top ten....maybe the Top 20 though...which would be pretty good because I know I have watched hundreds of shorts if not a thousand or more through the years...

Me too!

At first I would be so terrified of zombies, but within about 2 weeks my fear would be towards humans and their malicious intent.

When the night is thick and the tracks are blind
A friend at a pinch is a friend, indeed,
But a fool to wait for the laggard behind.
Down to Gehenna or up to the Throne,
He travels the fastest who travels alone.
White hands cling to the tightened rein,
Slipping the spur from the booted heel,
Tenderest voices cry " Turn again!"
Red lips tarnish the scabbarded steel,
High hopes faint on a warm hearth-stone--
He travels the fastest who travels alone.
One may fall but he falls by himself--
Falls by himself with himself to blame.
One may attain and to him is pelf--
Loot of the city in Gold or Fame.
Plunder of earth shall be all his own
Who travels the fastest and travels alone.
Wherefore the more ye be helpen-.en and stayed,
Stayed by a friend in the hour of toil,
Sing the heretical song I have made--
His be the labour and yours be the spoil.
Win by his aid and the aid disown--
He travels the fastest who travels alone.

It won a few awards. Says so in the video commentary drop box
Cheers!
And when he cocked his Bolt Action Rifle it sure sounded like a lever action cocking to me.
Very dramatic. Great story and character development. Bravo!
Wow! That was one of the better post-apocalyptic shorts out there. Very Good Work!!!!!!
Yeah...survival is primary

I would have watched more if there had been more, but I feel the story ended perfectly. However short this seemed on screen, I know the time to make it took much longer due to the quality.
This is an outstanding piece of work. Mind. Blown.
The big brother died because of the younger brothers lack of self awareness of the situation due to the big brothers protection.
Even though the younger brother learned his lesson but the cost of the big brothers life.
I guess the spartan teachings apply in a post apocalyptic world.
I hope I and my family will never experience it.

@@memyself898 It was a different group that killed the older brother, for what it's worth.
Really good. Bravo to the director, the cast and the cinematographer. It's the story that matters. Most of the post-apocalypse films are pretentious and boring. This goes straight to the point without hot-air pontificating about morality, loneliness and all the other bunk.
Depicts of a world we’re not so far away from. It’s only 72 hours away at any point in time.
Dean Backer And, it would probably take as long if not less time for all the gas, food, medicine and, any shelves to empty from all applicable stores.
72 hours or 3 meals. Remember New Orleans? I don't even think it was that before all of society broke down.
@@stevewithaphen New Orleans; Rule #1: As soon as the power goes off, its time to loot. Try 72 minutes or less.
Fatal flaw was they stopped and got comfortable. Keep on moving.
