- ~ Ok so I finally got around to uploading the first two episode (they've been sitting on my hard drive for months). I realize that nothing about this video is excellent and many things are flawed, and while it's very amatuer I'm still proud of it. I hope everyone can enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. ~
This series follows the disturbed survivor of a series of plagues, wars, and disasters that made the desert the last refuge on the planet. People are forced to scour the merciless plains for what little food, supplies, and ammunition are left.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I filmed the first two episodes of this series over two weeks with a couple of faithful actors, costumes, props, and one camera. I plan on uploading what I have so far so please stay tuned and subscribe if you want to see more!
Music is by Godspeed You! Black Emporer Кино
An Important note for viewers: this was made by my son when he was about 13. He conceived the story, the setting, the clothing, props...he did all the camera work, the music, and all post-production video editing and sound editing. This was his work, start to finish. I just put on the mask and did exactly what he told me...or got yelled at.
He has talent.
Kid is a genius.
13? wow... while it was nothing special IMO, being that it happened and he had the concept to do it, is impressive in my book. hopefully you will encourage his growth into the field.
Wow, good film made by 13 yr old. I watched and i like it.
@ russian gas mask, chinese magazine belt, american rifle. dad, what you got around the house? can of tuna and pork and beans, Martha, we're eating good tonight!
Love how he just made this one film, like “my work here is done” I think it’s one of the best apocalypse films on RUclips.
Same
Same
I absolutely love this video! Not enough films show how everyday life would be for the average survivor. I'm excited to watch episode 2, and hopefully any other ones you have. I never thought I'd be so entertained by simple scavenging and travelling. I love the attention to detail, like how the survivor is experienced (resting, being careful, checking for traps/mines).
This is definitely one of the better Post Apocalyptic short films on RUclips.
There wasn't a reliance on action or a gloomy landscape.
Very Well Done.
Terrific atmosphere. Totally told the story even without dialogue, exposition, or for that matter even a clear shot of his face. Wish we could see more!
Well done. While I've yet to watch episode 2, I'm anxious to see more of your work. You're pride is justified.
4:00 - that shot is just amazing and so is the next - LOVE IT!
I love your work you portrayed a realistic lifestyle in a possible apocalyptic catastrophy, I've been waiting almost 2 years for part 3.
Sorry, almost 3 years I'm hoping there will be more to your series
@@Ssmokythebear0well its july 2024 and I'm still hoping:')
There's only one critique I would have for this first episode, and it's something that's taught to every fresh off the bus recruit in boot camp.
Never, ever, ever let your weapon get more than arm's distance from you!
When he crawled under that flattened tank after the ammo can, he left his carbine and the rest of his gear outside.
As soon as he had cleared enough space for him to get his knees underneath, turn around and pull the rest of your gear along with you. Especially if you're lone wolfing it.
First time I've seen this. Great work. The atmosphere of desolation and loneliness well achieved. Looking forward to viewing the rest. Thank you.
The probing was a nice touch. And spot on!
I liked it, dreary and tense, but quiet too. Definite sense of alone-ness. Good job.
Dude, this was so frickin good, dont give up the project! keep it up, I would love to see more of this. Great movie!! :D
Everything this guy has is brand new without a scratch or speck of dust on any of it.
guys its not so much about the materialistic things in the film, its the idea that makes a good film. and this one is a good representation of it
Enjoyed this episode very much. Thanks for sharing.
Just watched. I like it a lot. Keeping it simple and developing a story is always a good thing. Everything is so instantaneous these days we hang on things like this. Just providing a .little morsel in betwn. Good work I look forward to part 2
Love the brand new boots...lol.
Good camera work, close up/blurred focus shots, really added to the suspense.
Thanks
Had a great fallout New Vegas feel. LOVE it, way better than some of the "pro" shows I dealt with back in the 90s
I would definitely love to see more from this series
LoL 😂 keeps patting everything! (Finds a raider searching a freshly killed body) *pat pat*
He's name is Pat
Overall excellent work here! Very unique and forward thinking. Thanks for sharing.
+WWExploring 1984 Forward thinking? What's "forward thinking" about it? Nothing happened. All I saw was a homeless guy wearing a gas mask while wandering around the desert.
@@AllThingsFilm1you wouldn't understand anyway😒
Some really beautiful landscape shots and nice atmosphere! Good job :)
i knew before reading the info that the music was Godspeed, music went great with the episode. Great stuff @Reb00tPrductions!
I liked the compassion he showed to the dead!
Lol. This guy kills me. Every time he sees something he pets it.
He pets dead things even
@@Karbkfd578 Wearing the mask with active carbon in an empty wasteland non stop can make you pet dead things :)
2:03 the lighting in this cut is perfect
I think its pretty good for an amateur, I really like it actually. I'm looking forward for more of your work
Good job, keep it up. Don't listen to the haters, especially if this is your first project.
Very well done. Realistic and memorable. 👍👍
Your son did a great job! Especially for 13! I couldn't do that at 13, some of it I still cant fr and I'm 17! Nice work!
I have spent soooo long looking for post apocalyptic short films focusing more on the survival aspects rather than people runnin around killing eachother. I'm talkin years. This isn't exactly what I had in mind buuuuuut it's is the closest I have come across. Great job! :)
Post-apocalytic fiction tends to revolve around violence for the same reason children's fiction tends to revolve around the absence of adult rule. There are a few people who read/watch it cause they're interested in what it would be like to have to be completely self-reliant with few resources. But most people who watch it are attracted to the genre because of the absence of the rule of law and the opportunity to loot/rape/murder without legal penalty. Same reason those Purge films do so well at the box office. The whole idea has people enthralled.
Jacob Weiss look for this film I uploaded to youtube, it is called, The Journey Directors cut Post Apocalyptic short film.
Yeah, I think that there are more fans of this type than we sometimes believe.
I mean, there were a LOT of players of the first and second "Fallout" games before consoles took over..
The main focus and enthralling part if thatgame was the whole, "exploring the wasteland, isolation etc" thing.
There was always the chance of danger, otherwise it's just boring. But those games had a lot of fans and I can't help but think this type of thing appeals to Al those type fans.
@@onetaothree yep
Love the fact the M1 Carbine is used as the main weapon. Not even in my top 10 of SHTF weapon choices, but I love that lil rifle so much. Perfect critter gun on the farm
This is excellent! I really enjoyed this.
No flaws really, mate. Well shot, soothing storyline.
8:00 "good skull, good skull"
10:27
actor - "ha! stuck my gloves on the fece :("
cameraman - "lol, I said it would happen! LOL"
this is pretty good to be low(no) budget. i'm ready for episode three. who cares about the subtly differences in costume and such. i don't get hung up on the details. its the survival, struggle, plot that keeps my attention.
Really good m8 I have no issue with this it's the best I've seen ever keep it up and I guessing the setting is in the mjovie desert
Amazing job. Great job Reb001Productions!!
Wow this is amazing and i gonna watch all episodes now :)
I appreciate this series, its inspired me to start my own!
is there never gonna be more? I thought this was really awesome. :)
very well filmed, I actually enjoyed that despite no stand off with a toxic zombie :) any more of this?
Awesome. Love the atmosphere and intensity of it. Also makes the viewer invested in the masked man. Why is he so cautious? Why does he need the gun? Is he wary of other people or something else? Always loved post-apocalyptic settings. RebOOTProductions, you've got yourselves a fan.
If anyone else, or another predator is around the gun can be a life saver. When things get that bad some critters and some people would consider it a shame to let 100 pounds of flesh just walk on by, not to mention any water, food, meds, ammo, that gun, usable shoes and socks he has.
Nice job. Waiting for the next
Great short film! Love the storyline, cinematography....you are talented!
Love the music and landscape
wonderful! I recognize the music. beautiful film.
Godspeed you black emperor should be the only band allowed to have its music on any post apocalyptic film
This is awesome I loved it!
finally an apocalyptic film when theres not much of action, just the quiet world and survival
very tense, I would have been eating all that wild mustard, and maybe dug a little for water where there seemed to be a lot of green stuff, lime mustard, just a thought. I could eat mustard flowers all day. good gonna watch part too now.
Perfect job it takes alot of time and effort ejoyed your works
I liked this. Just take it in. No questions answered, it is just the way it is. These films always have the important issues up front: water, food, make sure you're not going to bump into anybody.
But that's the thing. You're going to bump into lots of people, and you'll have to get along with most of them some way or another. The self-sufficient individual, family, or small band is an unlikely unit in a post-collapse world. People must have society whether they like it or not. Prepping is all to the good, but it's going to cover only a few weeks at most. Then it's all about company, as the largest organized groups will win. A fair bet is that that group will be an extant government.
Holly shit scary as hell, could you survive this situation, everyone should practise how they would deal with this even if its only mentally, to be ready is 1,000 percent better then knowing nothing, yea if it never happens then so what because if it does happen you can thank yourself for the input of survival no matter who you are.
Fantastic, great work x
i luv it ....can't wait to see homeboys face and episode 2 ....i have a new mini series to watch .....yahoo
it shows good work.....don't put it down the thought and effort is evident keep it up
15 minutes of walking and scavenging is surprisingly entertaining...
Hello, I agree
No.
No it WASN'T!
Is there a point?
WILL there BE a Point?!?
SMDH
No. This was terrible.
@@sugmasigma you are terrible
lo-budget mad max-lite.
good first effort though.
I enjoyed that very much. Whilst I could focus on the negative so easily, I won't do that because you are an intelligent person and you know the shortcomings. I like how your use of music was at a minimum, could have been a little softer overall. I like how the noise of walking and breathing and the wind etc was not edited out. I am definitely going to hang around for more videos from your channel. You gained a subscriber today. My congratulations and encouragement. I look forward to more of your work.
Nicely done excellent work!
the music and cinematography are well done. bravo
When do you think the third one will come together? Because this really freaking good. I'm enjoying everything about it. Oh and if you need a song to use, metallic monks fits this perfectly
I am tainted for life. All I think over and over during the breathing was one sentence. "Luke, I am your fajah."
Nice to see some creativity in action. Nice film for a start.
This was sick great job
Damn it Reb00tPrductions we demand more episodes now!!!
Amateur? Don't think so. I kept waiting for "something" to jump up to the guy - but no, you're a master in suspense. Congrats !
Now turning to episode 2.
You did you catch him mine checking also. Most wouldn't think of that.
Great series 👌
brilliant job....amazing....
I love it come back and make more!
Perfect music choice
Good job. I loved it
Gasmask is cleaner than my Sunday suit, that has just been dry cleaned. film makers are so enveloped in the right lighting, camera angles, dialogue and location that they completely forget about wardrobe. which completely nukes immersion.
This is very close to what real survival would be about. But a couple of things...1: never, ever separate yourself from your gear or weapons. 2: The chances of finding 30 carbine ammo anywhere would probably be less than zero. 40 or so years ago when there was plenty of surplus stuff maybe, but not today.
Nice, the rifle is a great look for the character.
i liked it! good work, and thanks for the entertainment.
It's ok to be "friendly" with both inanimate and "no-longer-animate" objects. What seems like mild insanity helps retain sanity and humanity.
Or... somethin' like that.
Enjoyable vid. Thanks for your efforts. I love scavenging anyways.
It's amazing what kindof useful stuff can be found out-n-about.
Ya never know. May end up being a handy skill one-of-these-years with a bit 'o' light bushcrafting mixed in. d;^)
Nice work! Awesome location too.
Great work.
Bro it's Soo good and I hope u have a more videos
His clothes are cleaner than mine and i didnt survive an apocalypse, i just hike on the weekends. He puts his gloves on in the barn but takes them off on the junk heap. How does he have dirt on his head but not his pants and shoes? He gets dirtier as time passes for no reason. Skulls don't get that clean without being scrubbed. His jacket cleans itself later on. Does the cameraman have the shakes? Why does he pet everything?
But i liked it, keep it up.
and why does every kid who wants to make a post-apocalyptic film make a bee line to a military surplus store?
davareno182 why not
FrostBurnt Daugherty
well, it's the first sign of a shit production because it screams unimaginative or inexperienced. no one is going to go out of their way (and survive) to raid the surplus store if the bombs fall even as an afterthought. the canisters in a gas mask last what... 72 hours? and if you've packed fatigues in your "inch" bag, they're not going to outlast the scourge... your clothes will fall off of you after a few months. here's a realistic post-apocalyptic story: you don't have a gun because you used all the bullets you could carry the first month, you've learned to eat anything (without heat), you're thin, weak, filthy, tired, hungry, cold, and just looking for water or a hole to crawl into and die so you don't have to worry about your next meal. you're not going to wander the wastes alone for any significant amount of time. any reason you'd have for why you'd survive will just prolong the inevitable without community.
davareno182 it was boring af
Because that's were people go during an apocalypse maybe?
Good atmosphere
'' LOVE ALL THE ACTION.
fantastic mate
Ok I love the video but I gotta agree! You need a plot! And fellow actors and maybe a co writer! I'm hopefully gonna be producing a short film this summer! Well anyways your shorts pretty good
This was pretty good
*EVERYONE READ THIS!*
Chance are, this video was made with a low budget, don't go hating on something that they couldn't have had a enough money for, like, that gun, that could have taken a HUGE chunk off their budget, so, like I said, *DONT GO HATING ON THEM!*
Theres a good skull "pats head"
Great video bro
Hey what desert did you film in I'm living in Joshua tree hi desert
I defintily going to watch the second one. The movie had a great atmosphere. The costume was good and the location was just awesome. The story hadnt really much tension in it and wad kind of flat. But with the atmosphere I think the story worked. The cinematography was also good. Keep up the work.
Well it appears that this is almost two years old now though I don't know when you made it...Sure would be great to see an Episode 3, 4, and 5 + =)
Episode 3 , please
Yes we want more
same as any other homeless guy except he wears clean clothes (somehow), the distant foghorns probably mean he's near a port or channel where there's a laundromat.
Time to revisit your former passion and get 3 and 4 out!
A few problems with the audio, not much tension, and no action, but it's good. You should keep this up; this is pretty awesome.
Amazing! that is the only word I can Say about this movie
This is really good
never going to run across 30 carbine ammo, except in a store, especially if you have a 30 carbine.
