Man is dressed warm... child; no coat...no head covering? Little things like this would be questioned by critics is the only reason I bring it up. I'm hooked on your Films!
Miss Sippy Tawker, thanks for the feedback. So very true. I'll be honest with you, it was so ghastly hot outside, my son had a rough time just making it through the film days. He was excited to be a part of it, and wants to again. But after 15 minutes of filming in the heat, he was ready to go back home. Luckily, we brought a bunch of popsicles that kept him there. You can see some of that in our behind the scenes video. Thanks so much for your support! It means a lot to us!

Sha Hon Chen, in all appearances of the film it would appear that way. But it was actually very hot, upwards in the high 80s and low 90s. In order to accommodate my son, who was taking time to film with us in the extreme heat, we allowed him to do without his jacket, seeing how forcing him to wear it would have made it more difficult to finish the process. I chose to carry his jacket instead.

You had a full story arc, characters that we care about, and you avoided many of the common post-apocalyptic tropes that lazy writers rely upon. Your direction exhibits elements of trusting the audience. Wardrobe and staging were good. The film stands on its own, but you left it open for a sequel without being obvious about it. Well done. (Not sure why the soldier left his shovel behind at the grave site, though. Those things are worth more than gold out in the field. I assume it was a mistake.)
Thanks so much, factcheck1776, we really tried to leave it open to the viewers to decide much of what took place in the story itself. As far as the shovel, yeah sadly it was just for the closing imagery. Thanks for supporting us! We really appreciate it.

@@snocamo154 thanks so much for watching! Desperate Men has definitely been our most prized short film. If we would ever get over covid in society, we would love to share it at a film festival. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the film.
I won't be here when the end takes place. But, I wouldn't leave my home and live in the woods. I'd stick to what I know, camping is t I e if them. But im also a Mom ,so I'd protect my grown kids like a Mama bear.
This makes me think that any kind of future as possible. We might live in the Great United States but just because we live in the great country like this doesn't mean that harsh realities like this movie could never exist. Because it can. I think that's why preparation and prepping is so important. Like for instance what I'm trying to learn is how to identify local plants in my area of what is edible. Also learn how to make a fire how to do a Dakota fire without people actually seeing smoke or flames. How to start a fire when it's wet outside. How to trap how to fish. How to build a little A-frame or any kind of shelter that's going to give you protection from the outdoors. This was a good movie though. Really good believable characters. Can I ask you a question what was that outfit the gentleman had on?
@@jessicapabon2105 , you are so right. So few of us are really prepared to handle a situation like this in our country. We take for granted how good we have it and how easily it can slip away. Glad you enjoyed the film! Thanks for your support!

I'm at a bit of a loss here. The guy baited a fishing line and set a snare, so had his wits about him in a bushcraft sense, yet didn't register how bad a threat the two baddies were? One's telling him he's gonna be taxed of whatever they decide they want to take from him and already has a knife, while the other is cheerfully slapping a metal pipe into his other hand. Talk about alarm bells. With his son to consider, why didn't he just plug them, instead of allowing them to move closer, endangering both his son and himself? Apart from weapons the two guys carried nothing, more or less said it was their area, so must have been shacking up nearby, maybe provisions, medical supplies? Guess it's just the way my mind works. Had to post these comments and questions. 06:38...time to watch the rest of the film, but I've a feeling the boy's father won't be seeing him grow up. *Edit:* I have been happier being wrong. Your griity outcome, however, was more realistic and I'm glad you guys didn't shy away from it. You're no A-List actors, but you're okay in my book and I look forward to watching more of your stuff. Thanks for uploading!
Billy Andrew, thanks so much for the very analytical feedback. It tells us you were really paying attention to all that was going on. And that is great. In the original script we actually explained that he only had two bullets left in his gun. So he was reluctant to use them. And the closing scene with the kind stranger he was actually threatening him with an empty gun. In the end, we reluctantly decided to cut it from the final cut. Thanks for your support!
@@jcentracchio Well, not half as smart as I thought I was, am I? 😂😂😂 That certainly cleared things up and makes perfect sense now. Sad to say, but the kind stranger, even with his own loss, adapted to the new world a lot better and left me with the impression his skill level, possible with prior knowledge, (he knew our unfortunate protagonist wasn't ex military or a killer) or just a quick learner himself, made him the ideal candidate to take over the boy's wellbeing. It's very kind of you to respond and I appreciate the effort and time you took.
Cindl Bergen, you are absolutely right. But one thing we were trying to point out is that many people, probably most won't have a clue on how to survive in a situation like this. Thanks for the feedback.

Damn, seeing his dad get shanked pulled on the heart strings! Just started watching, hope it isn't a sad ending! EDIT- That was a sad possibility out of all the possible scenarios that could happen during times of crisis. Thank God for humanity not being dead!
Scottmiller6270, thanks for watching. Yeah when we collaborated on the story we were torn between letting the father die or not. But we obviously decided to let him die. Our thoughts were to show, like you said, in time of crisis, there are still good people out there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. We're glad you enjoyed it!
Johncitizen147, Thanks for watching. We were really wanting to bring out a story that shows that kindness can sometimes come from unexpected sources. Hope you enjoyed it. I would recommend checking out our zombie series, Yesterday's Gone. We should have our third episode out before the end of the year. Thanks again.
Geraldmantanona6116, glad you enjoyed the short film. Yeah under normal circumstances we would keep the shovel too. But for a nice closing shot for the film, we decided to leave it. Thanks for sharing!
Should have stripped away and utilized anything useful from the first two men. Their clothing would've benefitted the kid, alone, regardless of being adult-sized. Survival... every minor thing shouldn't be a missed opportunity. 🤔
echospaw899, thanks for watching. While all that is very true, especially in a survival scenario, the actual reality is, we really don't know how exactly we would react in a real-life situation like this protrayed here. And that's the point we're trying to make. The fact of the matter was, there were, I'm sure a whole lot of things going thru the father's head at the time, mistakes were and would be made; panic, adrenaline, fear; they make us all do crazy things at times. But the point we wanted to portray is that no one gets it all right all of the time. Sometimes, none of the time. LOL! Anyway, thanks again for watching. Thanks for taking time to share your comments. It really is appreciated!
@@jcentracchio Oh, I agree. I can't say, with all honesty, how I would've reacted, etc, in that scenario. Watching it in a movie vs being in it in reality are two completely different things. Good job on this project all in all. 👍👍👍

Tommy Simmons, yeah, you're right about that. He probably would have been getting himself up off the ground. But getting him to hold up the heavy gun was work enough for him. Thanks for watching.
Daniel Grubb, thanks for watching and commenting. We have to agree with you, it's a terrible scenario. But we hope you enjoyed the story we told within the nightmare scenario. Thanks again.

Thing is...beech buds and sap are edible...hes walking through FOOD.
Grubs, worms (squeeze the stomach to get 'earth' out) etc.
Nettles and bramble tips in a soup! With tree sap....
I say this because l was invested in the charecters...loved it x
Amanda Donegan, thanks so much for sharing. All that is absolutely true, yet with our story we were just trying to tell as much of the story as we could in a short time. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment.
Really great.
Don Jorge, thank you so much for the kind words. We really appreciate the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it! We hope you'll check out some more of our great content on our channel. We hope to be adding more soon!
@@jcentracchio I am sure I'll do. The pleasure was mine!
I'm glad that I watched entire movie till the credits - it must be great to have a family that's not only talented but amazingly cooperative.
Dukecity7688, thanks for watching. It is always a blast working on projects together with our family. We have a great time, and we all have our special place in the production process. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome...any father understands...
Douglas Lynch, thanks so much for the support, and taking the time to check it out. We hope to be bringing more content soon.
Well done. A happy ending isn't always happy.
Charles Murphy, thanks so much for the comment and taking the time to watch it. It's been our favorite one so far. Hope to be sharing more great content soon.
When the little boy didn't want his daddy to leave, I started tearing up. Oh, this is going to break my heart, isn't it?
Snocamo154, it might just do that. Or perhaps not. We would love to know how you felt about the film.
@@jcentracchio I'm sitting here alone in my truck in Claiborne county, Mississippi with tears in my eyes. So sad. Can't help but have tears. But, I'm happy at the same time that the little boy found a good man to care for him.
Denise Wood, Thanks for your support. We appreciate your feedback.
This was so good Teared up a couple times!! Absolutely love your son ❤. I’d love to see a part two of this about how the boy fares and what happens after the end of this film. Hope to see more from you, wish you much success!!
Priscillacole6080, thank you so much! We're happy you enjoyed it. We have actually put this one in a film festival this year. We're hoping everyone enjoys it as much as you have. As for a sequel, we'll have to see how things go. But the thought had definitely crossed our minds as well. Hope you can enjoy some of our other content also. Thanks again!
As always, a great job by all!!!
Thanks again, Jamie. We appreciate you watching!
Good film. Humans can't get on with each other, before an apocalyptic event, and certainly can't after? I know I won't be able to trust anyone. 😥
Al Matt, Thanks very much for watching and commenting.
That's the sad truth
@CYRUS DAWSON bro same
Nice job Jeremy Jason and David

I watch a lot of these post apocalyptic short films on RUclips. Most of them are just OK, if that. This was well filmed, scripted story lined, every aspect. Congratulations on a film that deserves to be highlighted at film festivals, and i would vote for an award!
Charles Clark, we want to thank you so much for the kind words! We're glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. We appreciate the feedback. We hope to share more content, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thanks again.
Awesome. Great job guys

Great film. The part with the boy holding the photo was moving.
Carlos Z, thanks for watching! We appreciate your support. I can't lie, I was very proud of my son throughout the film. I'm happy to hear his performance drew on your affections. Thanks again!
beautiful ...
AU DOROY, We're glad you enjoyed it. It was one of those stories, once we were inspired it just came natural from conception, to film, to post production. Thanks for your support! We always appreciate the feedback as well!
Good movie
Jeanie Enriquez, thanks so much for your support. We really appreciate it. Keep an eye out for more great content, hopefully coming soon. Thanks again!
Great job. Doesn't look cheap.
Brooke Brown, thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@jcentracchio
Well, not half as smart as I thought I was, am I? 😂😂😂
That certainly cleared things up and makes perfect sense now.
Pretty good one
Matt Napier, thanks for watching! We hope you'll consider watching more of our content. We appreciate your support and feedback! Thanks again!

North, thanks very much for watching & commenting! Glad you enjoyed it.
As a forager I am disturbed. They passed by a world of nutrients and for what? A squirrel in a trap?
Cindl Bergen, you are absolutely right. But one thing we were trying to point out is that many people, probably most won't have a clue on how to survive in a situation like this. Thanks for the feedback.
This is the movie The Road 2009 ( Viggo Mortensen ) replica. That movie is great.
Josie Wallace, Thank you for watching. There can be no doubt, it inspired us greatly in the conception of this production.
Touching
Little Mr Pinkness, thanks for taking the time to watch. We're glad you were moved by the story we tried to tell. Hope to have more great content coming soon. Thanks again!

Ok...this one made me cry....
Bobbi Meyer, thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate your support!
@@jcentracchio Thank you for sharing!!
A stranger steps up and cares for another mans child. Sometimes humanity still works.
Great story! I wouldn’t leave that E-Tool (shovel) though. 😃👍🏾
Geraldmantanona6116, glad you enjoyed the short film. Yeah under normal circumstances we would keep the shovel too. But for a nice closing shot for the film, we decided to leave it. Thanks for sharing!
I think it makes it more realisticcif they dont look so clean, worn and torn clothes, unkept hair, etc
♥️
Great story
ssuzimoore, thanks so much. We're really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
Best ever!
Jason-eh3uj, thanks so much for watching. We appreciate all your support and kind words!
Nicely done. Similar to Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
marcy6161, glad you enjoyed it. Definitely see the similarities with the Road. That was a great movie too. Thanks for sharing. If you enjoyed Desperate Men, you would probably enjoy our zombie series, Yesterday's Gone. Our third episode should be out by the end of 2024.

When God goes into vengeance mode, it is horrible to behold.
What the heck? He's gonna need that shovel.
EDYN15, you're absolutely right, he will definitely need the shovel. That was actually just for the dramatics of the film. We thought it made a nice closing shot. But in a real-life scenario, he would definitely take the shovel. Thanks for watching.
Prefect
Markiemarkbowman, thanks so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking time to share your feedback too. It's much appreciated.
Suprising the kid fall back after pulling the trigger
Tommy Simmons, yeah, you're right about that. He probably would have been getting himself up off the ground. But getting him to hold up the heavy gun was work enough for him. Thanks for watching.
A beautiful end.
Amanda Donegan, thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
real good
Reminds me of "The Road"
Edward Watt, we can definitely see the similarities. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Maybe put the stars behind the clouds next time. 1:47. 😅
o plz fearmongers it all de same 😞😱
You do know what a "post-apocalyptic" movie is, right? It's kind of in the name. Sorry you missed that part.
The nightmare scenario.
Daniel Grubb, thanks for watching and commenting. We have to agree with you, it's a terrible scenario. But we hope you enjoyed the story we told within the nightmare scenario. Thanks again.
