Pokimane is one of those internet people who I never know what she actually does. She just kind of seems to exist and people give her money and attention

I think that's what got me the most about it, the fact that she complained about similar practices previously and then did it herself, the hypocrisy was clear for all to see.
This isn't new behavior from her. She has a notorious history of speaking down to people based on status, looks, and wealth. Despite conveying being anti-bullying she's a profound one. Often weaponizing her audience to attack people.
This genuinely pisses me off. Not only what Pokimane has done, and keeps doing, but the fact that that her fans keep trying to defend her actions to the death. Like trust me buddy, this is NOT the hill you want to die on. There are so many saints out there more deserving of your attention.
If you really want to win, don't have an opinion at all. Don't tweet or talk about them and they will fall off in relevancy sooner or later. People defend her because they want to fight people online. If no one attacks, no one defends and people lose interest in the topic overall.

Almost nobody in the entire Western world faces legitimate sexism or racism nowadays, despite what the mainstream media pushes, and if they do, they're most likely going to be males or white people and the bigotry is going to be coming from those who claim to hate bigotry. I think a big problem with creators who become popular is they're surrounded by fans who claim everything they do is the apex of perfection, it's so easy to get wrapped up in these people, that when there is legitimate criticism thrown their way, it feels like abuse, almost torture to them.

I think the internet is now making it so that any level of criticism against a woman is already sexism. This is already the case with movie characters as well, and it's stuff like this that defeats the whole purpose of wanting to empower women when it means making them immune from any level of criticism. If anything, the fact that Pokimane is being held up to the same standard as other male content creators whenever they screw up is in itself fair across all genders and is not sexist. The only time the sexism problem comes up in this is if a content creator doesn't get criticism at all, which is an impossibility.

I work in the Food and Drink space, white labeling is so common, I can't divulge specifics but many products, that store brand Vs premium brand item, often come from the exact same batch of products with same formulations.
Yeah i always had a problem with this dynamic, the streamer reads chat, the chatter beleive they are actually friends, when in reality they only read the chat because it acompanyed money... this dynamic turns into the chatter setting alarm clocks to get to streams first and then donates to chat and so on and so on, the chatter actually thjnks the streamer cares about them and would refer to them as a friend if they ever met in person, when in reality they wouldnt even bat an eye in their direction If they were bleeding out and the streamer had the only phone to call ambulance.

Before getting to your video, my expectation was that her response will be slammed and honestly, I was and am on a bit of a split side, but you do such a good well to convey reasonable and logical statements.
I fully agree that the price of the cookies doesn't matter, it's for those willing to pay for the brand, similar to every single brand name out there. Same thing for using existing products. And honestly, my opinion on what she said was "I can understand it". She was getting probably slammed a lot for something most people do and when one viewer particularly upset her (and I know this from myself, so I can kind of sympathize), she made a statement meant to insult this particular person, because you can't argue either way. But the right call was simply to either not say anything, or then to own up how it was meant as targeted insult (but shouldn't be done, less for the statement itself I'd even say, but because she is a public figure) and rest the case.
Even if it WAS a targeted insult towards one person, her showing negativity towards someone for worrying about not being able to support her or not being able to spend money on her cookies is just shitty and so out of touch. It's her responsibility not only as a influencer, but also as a person, to acknowledge and understand the people that gave her literally everything she has currently.
@@GoldenFateCoin I dont view it that way. People will try to trigger you online, it's normal. But sometimes you don't manage to look away and end up getting triggered. These people are not fans and also don't want to support, they are only there to push your buttons. So this reaction - in my eyes - was her bashing the person, by taking the attempt to trigger her and turning it into an insult about him not being able to afford the cookies.
It should be noted that pretty much the entire backlash didn't come from her viewers, but from the people that made videos about it and an enraged mob.
But an Edit to clarify: I still view the reaction as bad, because it can still hit normal viewers that would give the support but can't, they get hit in the crossfire. This is the part that sits wrong with me.
