ANYBODY looking at this kind of a deal needs to have an attorney that specializes in Intellectual Property, and contract law. If they don't, they're an idiot. You can ALWAYS have your attorney look over a contract. If the person offering the contact says things like "It's just the standard contract" or "It's just boilerplate" that's a serious red flag. ALL IP contracts should be looked over by an attorney the talent hires before signing. If the media company is unhappy about that, it's likely time to walk away.

He executed his speech very well and is a good demonstration of how one speaks as a CEO. This is an organized, concise way to speak and he maintains a calm environment -- it's a skill, not malicious.
He talks in Hollywood speak, just starts off with compliments, aka love bombardment and then goes off on a tangent on what they do is so great and special. All these situations have the same root cause, the guy bought a multi-million dollar home, several exotic sports cars, a boat, expensive vacations, and was blowing money like a playboy thinking the money would never stop, and spoiler alert, the money always stops. He was using creators as a credit card to fund his lifestyle and now can't pay it back.

Just think, if he'd spűnked only enough money to never have to work again with a middle class lifestyle, he'd probably have gotten away without a peep.
Just another CEO defrauding people and carefully tip toeing around accepting any sense of responsibility. The worst part is there are definitely people willing to defend this kind of behavior.
It's crazy that there are companies offering to hide your assets in case of a bankruptcy, totally legally and in plain sight. In Germany, hiding assets before bankruptcy is a serious crime and helping someone do it is as well.
Alex Jones tried to do this, but the plaintiffs in the case called it out immediately and notified the courts overseeing his finances (judgement had already been rendered against him at this point) and not only was he caught out trying to move the money around, he was also denied discharging what he owed the plaintiffs in bankruptcy court, which was his ultimate goal.
the guy never intended to run a long-term podcast network; he was trying to hold it together long enough to get acquired, get a big payday, and walk away. That's the giant scam; a lot of start-ups never intend to stay in business; they hold it together long enough to go public via an IPO, get the massive payday, and then watch the company burn to the ground or be bought out by a more prominent firm
I'm fine with new school companies having a shorter lifespan. Usually they bring in a new idea or invention and by the time it can be copied or improved upon they aren't as relevant. then theres no real reason not to take the check and start on something new. Listen to that guy who didn't get upset till the payments were six months late. Who in their right mind would wait that long, unless they didn't rely on that money to survive. Plus in the long run it's just a dumb idea legally. It's crazy that there are companies offering to hide your assets in case of a bankruptcy, totally legally and in plain sight. In Germany, hiding assets before bankruptcy is a serious crime and helping someone do it is as well.
I think it is in the US as well if they can prove your motive.
Yeah isn’t that the idea with most of these tech startups?
It's a valid business model if the company is actually productive. In that case, though, the business usually survives after the buyout.
how is that a giant scam?
I'm fine with new school companies having a shorter lifespan. Usually they bring in a new idea or invention and by the time it can be copied or improved upon they aren't as relevant. then theres no real reason not to take the check and start on something new.
