Everyone needs to play Runescape before they're allowed to do anything with their finances. This way they can get a scammed in a safe and contained environment. Imagine going long enough into your life without being scammed, amassing enough wealth to invest and your faith in humanity still intact just to have it all stripped away when it could have been done when you're 12 years old over a Mithril Platebody.
After so many of these videos, and well life experience, I don’t have any faith in people.

Same could be said of Madoff and dozens of other people that have done this kind of stuff.

I'm Bulgarian from the city of Plovdiv. One day I was going to a restaurant near one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, the Imperial hotel, property of the than mayor of Plovdiv Ivan Totev.
I was drinking my beer and I saw maybe 10 super fancy cars parking in front of the restaurant. Once the cars were parked, some probably extremely wealthy people got out (massive jewellery, heavy golden watches, the whole thing).
After that, seemingly from nowhere a group of about 20 young people came out, all wearing onecoin t-shirts, they were probably the staff and also the translators. It was an international gathering. There where people from Spain, Italy, Germany and so on.
They all gathered in the restaurant stayed there for about half an hour and after that they all made their way to the Imperial hotel just 200m down the road.
The scam is still ongoing...
Edit: that was about an year or two ago
I know people that are still thinking that their investments are safe whit onecoin even if my countrys goverment officials said the thing is a scam. Some people are just in too deep.

I don't think Ruja or her brother have anything to so with onecoin anymore. Its a build infrastructure, made for scams, change the name, use it again
Ruja is definitely at the bottom of a lake somewhere. If she was dealing with ruthless, powerful men and could implicate them for their crimes, there's no reason she wouldn't be disposed of as soon as she'd outlived her usefulness.

In photos, Ruja looks flash in a fancy designer gown alright, but if she crossed some Arab Sheik, and took him for a few Billion bucks of real money, then she'll be wearin' cement shoes and swimmin' with the fishes I reckon. Hey, look how dangerous it was for that journalist guy who just wrote unflattering stories, he was apparently murdered in a Saudi-Arabian Embassy in Turkey, even with witnesses waiting just outside and listening to his dying screams as transmitted by his Apple Smartwatch. Y'gotta wonder though, did her captors keep her alive, for awhile at least, and have a wee bit of fun with her before stuffin 'er into Davy Jones' locker ? ..."it couldn't happen to a nicer sack of shite".

Let this be an important lesson for people who ask "Why shouldn't I scam people. It's so easy and those people live like kings" You get jail if your lucky. If you aren't. Someone who knows what you did decides to tie up a loose end.

Not realizing once you commit a crime like this and succeed it never goes away. That trail is always there if you don't cover it up and you'll never know if you covered up perfectly. If you assume you did that trail will just be all the more easier for someone to follow. It ain't just detectives that might follow either. A rich idiot is lots of much better criminals favorite target. They know you won't protect yourself correctly

Several of my friends spent 5 to 10 grand on crypto mining rigs. And both were laughing at me this time last year for not jumping onto the bandwagon.
Now thier rigs are mining a few cents a day. And thier wallets have been drained.

Tbh if they mined from last year in June and sold as they got crypto then they broke even easily , plus the value of those rigs still exists so they could probably get around half the value they paid, which means they made money.

The crazy part for me personally about this whole story is that Konstantin Ignatov is an old acquaintance of mine. We were never friends or anything like that but we knew each other and went to the same nightclub when I was around 18 years old. I think it was in 2019 when I first even heard of this story and his envolvment from one of my best friends and I was absolutely baffled.

The lead CEO was a good friend of a student collegue of mine and we used to do little promotional events to help him out.
Half a year later we discovered that he severely underpaid his staff and ran away with the companies tax return money.
He turned from sympathetic nice guy into full on demon boss. He was an absolut dick afterwards and fired all of us calling us whor*** and worse.
Another half a year later and he got sued by one of his bigger investor on the case of fraudulent advertisement and tax fraud.
Story was wild. I learned that you never know what someone intentions are. Think for yourself and don't just invest in the first semi-sci fi idea that sounds fun and comes around.

Just a small heads up regarding names. Last names in Eastern Europe countries - for example Russia - often have different endings for men and women. Female last names normally end in the "feminine form" - meaning they get an "a" or "ja" at the end. Male Last names end in a consonant. That's why the brothers name in this case is Ignatov and her name is Ignatova.

The feminine form is meant to match the female first name. They are gender matched. I aways cringe a little when they get it wrong in big movies. Black Widow is supposed to be Natasha Romanova for example. They've spent hundreds of millions on a movie and they can't be othered to google check the name for5 minutes.

I have heard some American news analysts say over the years that if the SEC had really been doing its job, they would have asked Madoff enough questions to stop the scheme.
He was the chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market in 1990, 1991 and 1993. He sat on SEC advisory committees.
Madoff was so large that SEC took advice from him. The idea that "they are so rich, why would they scam people?" Is a really dangerous idea.
If you expect a government organization to be effective at it's stated job, you are even more naïve than the people getting scammed by crypto schemes. For starters, governments know they don't have the industry knowledge to regulate said industries, so they pull members from the very companies they claim to be regulating. Basically they set up a security group to guard the henhouse by recruiting foxes. Second, there are many government run systems and nobody ever says, "Gee! I wish my trip to Starbucks was as convenient as my trip to the government's motor vehicles department." Third, have you ever heard of a government run system shutting down because it reached it's goal or do they just grow? Does your local government run aid for the homeless and has it reduced the number of homeless? Does it run an unemployment system that reduces unemployment? Fourth, how's your local government school system doing? Has the school system been churning out smarter and smarter kids and been rewarded for success or has it been producing underachieving, indoctrinated idiots and been rewarded for it's shortcomings with increasing budges and expanding bureaucracy?

They investigated him at leadt twice.... one time he had people in another room doing fake trades on foreign markets to prove he was in fact trading... while the investigators were in his office.
The first scam she did in Germany is very reminiscent of the way our ex-rulers during the communist regimen would act. As soon as the USSR collapsed in 1989, those in power basically defrauded the entire population of Bulgaria and ran abroad with as much money as they could, then started a new life. I cannot confirm if her parents are ex-officials, but I suspect so, because they ran back in 1990. That is something most locals could never afford or even think of, because there were already a couple of generations that were used to living in complete isolation from the Western world and would not trust it, due to their programming. Her family being able to afford living there and educating their kids somehow is also pretty strange to me, because technically you should be broke and you are not going to be paid well as an immigrant in 90's Germany, that's for sure.
Overall, I think that her scam was successfull not because its planning was that genius or something, but because she had strong connections (another possible indicator that she's not from a "standard" family) and because she used her charms to trick rich people to invest.

Very true, Bulgaria did NOT have any national debt before the fall of the Communism, after 1992 the national debt suddenly rose to 10-12billion in 2 years. In Canada alone, we knew that Canadian Real Estate billionaire Ignat Kaneff created a REIT trust to invest stolen money & receive percentage (legalizing).

He actually had the nerve to come back here after decades and started giving interviews and spreading lies that he became a billionaire by starting out as a low paid construction worker without any engineering or other relevant education. According to him, he was very good at his job and slowly people gave him more and more responsibilities until they started letting him lead entire projects. The media here markets him as one of our national treasures that managed to find success by being a decent human being.

In all the videos I've seen of her no one has ever shown any significant proof that she actually landed in Greece. The article itself, which is referenced has only confirmed the Bulgarian leg of the flight. I'm surprised that no one is mentioning the fact she was known to be rich at that time, including by the Bulgarian police as they raided her company. In a country where the police is known to operate as a mafia and happens to be quite poor one should consider the scenario she got shot, disposed off and "put" on a flight out. Imagine being a cop in one of the most corrupt police forces and you see a billionaire, known to have stolen the money and have plenty of enemies walking down the street. Of course you would abduct and torture her to pocket as much money as possible. What's the worst that is going to happen? You'll get called to investigate your own crime? "Look, see she left the country. Those flight logs we control totally say this!"

I mean when someone comes around the corner and says "If you give me half the money in your purse I'll return twice as much soon." they would never give it away, but it the person asking weara a suit and rented a hall for the day, suddenly it has to be legitimate.

I thought more mention might be given to her brother Konstantin, as news reports i read at the time described him as already being involved with a serious organised crime syndicate/mafia.
I remember the impression given at the time was she was fronting it for money but it was the syndicate her brother belonged to behind it all - in terms of European countries, Balkan gangs are known to be the most involved in online fraud anyway. I would strongly suspect she got murdered to maintain silence as soon as shit hit the fan.
Actually the mispell is brilliant. They also do that in fishing (the Nigerian Prince kind of scams), they cover up with mistakes to select only the people gullible enough to not care about them, which are generally easier to fish.
Ruja iz read as "ru-zha" meaning rose. Bulgarians are not speaking Spanish so they don't read their Js as Hs.

There will always be those who scramble to people stating they will 2x, 5x, 10x their investments. No matter how many times they are burned they will jump in thinking "this could be the one".
at my work there was one who advertised for onecoin and wanted to get as many people involved in it as possible. was kinda annoying but glad i didnt get myself involved in it. also the packages were expensive starting at 2500€ or something. might have been more but cant remember exactly since it was 5-7 years ago.
When I joined Loomis in Canada in 1980 there was a straight "money for nothing" multi-level scam and I was incredulous how many of my co-workers were involved: it had all the food group appeals. Except reality.
I imagine people who attended those Onecoin seminars while listening to Ignatova speak were thinking... "Waow! I too can become a rich fat ugly cow instead of just a fat ugly cow".

As someone with the surname Ng, I've heard it mispronounced so many times (even American Chinese usually get it wrong) but this is the first time I've heard it just spelled out. Not gonna lie, it actually sounds better than having it mispronounced.
Excellent video. Well-narrated and very interesting. These times are so unique- there's a proliferation of scammers, con men, ponzi schemes and political cults. I blame the internet.....that miraculous tool that enables us to access exceptionally good information in real time also allows the less discerning amongst us to access any form of misinformation we desire. This latter "deficiency" is creating problems for individuals and society unlike anything we ever dealt with. I just hope we find ways to greatly reduce misinformation.
If anything/anyone says something like "easy money" and "huge returns" (such as "double you money in mere days"), the chance it's a scam is above 99.999999%

Has anyone done any research on how the crypto scene has impacted the stock market? I cant imagine scam after scam pulling in millions each time has had an overall positive outcome for it. Be interesting to see exactly how big an impact that is
@@SioxerNikita Right because that whole thing with Gamestop stock didnt happen. Even if you're average Joe isnt investing in Facebook, they still out money into things like Edward Jones and play the market. And large sums of money, like the millions-billions these scams pull in, will impact the market. Because now that money ISNT being traded at the levels it was, its sitting in an account waiting to get cleaned or for the heat to die down. Which means its functionally removed from teh market
To be fair, in the long run, crypto may attract larger hordes of individual speculators from the traditional stock markets.
Prior to the advent of crypto market proper, individuals with money to burn go to the stock market, which depends on these hordes' speculative buying and selling to go up or down over medium to long term (depending on whether one is investing with hope the market goes up or down(short sell)).

@@Wobbothe3rd But its not. It is actively draining millions per scam AWAY from real business. That money is being removed from the cycle and isnt going back into it, and with it being dirty money its not being put back in
@@SioxerNikita But the millions being dumped into crypto, scam or not, still affects the stock market. That is money that could have been spent on products or services effectively removed. And while a few hundred people being scammed may not seem like it'd have a huge impact overall, we're talking about about thousands of people losing millions multiple times a week. That is going to add up

With every horror story that comes out, it staggers me that people still think crypto is the future. If it is the future, then we're destined for a dystopian hell scape.

These scammers seem so obvious to me. Maybe rich people are just so used to being surrounded by (and operating like) scoundrels they dont even know what honest people look and sound like anymore.
The vast majority being scammed are not rich and they lose all their life savings.
