The Vikings were most known for their one-handed swords, round-shields, axes and Dane-axes. Not flails, maces and two-handed swords

Exactly historicly great and long sword wasn't a thing before over a hundred years later but we still got them in the game. But the most comon basic sword isn't. Vikings did not have long swords the tecnology did not exist, only one handed did and that's what we don't have?! The logic
@@Spojo1 long swords are 300-400 years to early for this game. Game is set in 800, long swords was created about 14th century.
A long sword durin the Viking age would therefor be like pulling up an modern AR-15 during the 1600s

No they didn’t the Scottish did....
@@jayblack9393 Vikings did not use two handed swords, and mostly used spears, axes, and one handed blades. Two handed swords by and large did not exist during the 8th and 9th centuries. Two-handed longswords/claymores/etc were mostly around during the 14th century when armor had developed enough for a footman to be able to eschew a shield.

@Will Knaapen I mean.. in odyssey there's that horse glitch that they never fixed even after 2 years.. my version is 1.51 and it's still there also you get all kinds of glitches when my pc heats (same with origins but not with unity since they fixed all of their glitches after 4 years)
Not a doubt in my mind that the most exciting weapons I’ll be using will be the one handed hammers and flails. So unique and unlike other things we’ve had in the games.

You actually get different left bumper abilities if you only use a single one handed weapon. It puts you at a disadvantage, but if you only use one dagger you get a special attack where you stick the dagger in someone’s ribs and do an insane amount of damage

Yea its like odyssey when they said you can't have a shield cause you're a mercenary not a spartan soldier, but every other mercenaries have shields.

@@XINebuchadnezzar Reason you couldn't use shields was the spear since you used that in your offhand. But I agree with it being ridiculous you can't use one handed swords since it literally was the most used weapon
Pro tip: the Spear is one of the best weapons in the game. The special attack will always knock an enemy down, even minibosses, as well as doing a ton of damage. Then, you stomp them out, and repeat.
Lol, I love AC, but the animations for the dual axes attack looks janky as hell.
The facial animations look way better here though
@@chriswolf1089 Unity had way more accurate facial animations than this crap cause that utilised motion capture and this one, an RPG uses a bunch of presets and algorithms.
@@chriswolf1089 not the biggest fan of Syndicate since it was too fast but it sure looked better than this lol. looking back, AC2 had the most grounded animations and inputs. I wish they stuck with that and just refined it to not be a counter-fest.

The most insane weapon combo i found is double 2-handed spears, so fast combos, and the range is insane, some bosses barely can hit you back =)

I'm a dagger guy myself. In both Origins and Odyssey my go to weapon were poison daggers :).
So they removed not just one but two weapon types that were in the past two games. The one handed sword which was my favorite btw and the heavy blunt weapons.

I don't can't imagine that we have no 1 Hand Swords in Valhalla, because this was a very popular Weapon in this time and the Vikings use this too. When it is true then i wil play with Shield and Axe or Hammer .

I’m majorly looking forwards to this game! I’m getting it for Christmas and I’m soooooo excited! I loved Odyssey so much, Origins was absolutely amazing! And this looks straight up fantastic!
The combat looks fun, but I am a historical weapons nerd and I am not sure I will be able to play this game any more. Too many weapons that didn't exist at the time (longswords), probably didn't exist at all ("viking" two handed swords, quite possibly the flail as depicted in the game), and actual, fairly common historical weapons not present (the typical "viking" sword). I probably couldn't pay attention to the story for all the ranting I would be doing about the weapons. It's a shame, I was actually pretty excited for this one.

I like elemental weapons in games in general so I got the poison hammer, mournful cry, in the right hand and the fire axe, sepulcher, in the left and oh gods it’s nothing short of a blast
I've been waiting for dual swords since black flag and you're telling me all the swords are 2 handed by default so even if I unlock the perk to carry 2 at a time they're gonna be these huge ass clunky swords. This one thing ruined the entire game for me

If you are looking for a realistic and much more historically accurate Viking Game check out _Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest Reforged Edition._ It is an old title, but it combines third and first person action gameplay and strategic commands during battles and has naval combat (on a map _and_ in third/first person; you use AWSD to move your character on the ship and the arrow keys to move the ship). The combat is similar to for Honor or Mordhau (directionbased, either by mouse movements, by keyboard keys AWSD or in a simplified mode using your position in relation to the enemy - basicly "auto mode").

My favorite config is using a spear as my main weapon and a 2-handed axe in my secondary slot. The best of both worlds and you get an OP left-attack... very useful in dispatching multiple targets, AoE style.
No one handed swords, no heavy blunt weapons and no staffs :(

Well this dude chooses not to lock onto enemies in combat, its much easier to stay focused when you do that, noone seems to wanna use the target lock for some readon in their videos, but i assure you the camera is much better when you actually lock onto enemies in combat

You dont have to use a two handed sword, plenty of other weapons, try switching it up, youve been using swords in AC games for 10 years

It looks horrible and a boring repetitive way the old assassins were repetitive but it was a good kind of repetitive. It looks just like origins and odysseys shit looks boring hack and slash enemies take longer to kill unlike the other assassin creeds

@@eyelikefetty4840 yeah I agree. People played AC for the mechanics, no idea why they changed it to the hack and slash. Probably thought they’d get more customers, but failed.

The hammer combined with stomp skill is the most satisfying shit in the world. I'm surprised I don't see more love for the hammer. It's excellent!
I think I will go for two axes or dual shields. Those combat-styles looked very cool!
Leaving out one handed swords seems really strange but it doesn't bother me, two handed swords are usually my go-to weapon in any game i can use them lol

Duel one handed axes for sure. Then axe and round shield if you can switch weapons quickly and not have to go into inventory everytime.
