Same. That, with Super Mario Bros Deluxe. I also had blue, my older brother, Red. We had to share the same Gameboy Color. Definitely had hardships back then haha.
For 2022 I set myself the challenge of only playing 3DS games to try and clear my backlog. Here we are at the start of November and not only have I stuck to that challenge, but I have managed to finish 30 games on my 3DS! Gonna have one final push in the next two months to finish as many more as I can before opening up my options again and playing on whatever platform I feel like.
I still play game boy games on a 3ds (since a game boy is so expensive and the limited cartridge batteries) they released a bunch of game boy games on the 3ds eshop so theyre much easier to play now
Truth. I was born in 89. I pretty much had a Game Boy since I was born. I spent large chunks of my time doing nothing but playing Game Boy. Even more when you add in Game Boy Color and Advance. I STILL play Game Boy games all the time. I either do it on my re-shelled GBA SP 101 with a flash cart, or my emulation handheld. I still have my original grey brick and Pokemon Gold GBC, but playing on them without a backlit screen is just annoying more than fun. And I somehow don't have any of the the millions of worm lights I used to have. One day I'll have the money to buy myself a pre-modded GBC with a nice screen on it. Thanks for this video you actually unlocked a deep memory i havent thought about in probably 20 years with that Donkey Kong 94 footage. It was one of the first games i ever had. I was 6 years old when that game came out and was one of my first on gameboy I must have played the first few levels hundreds of times but must have lost or gotten rid of that cartridge long long ago. As soon as i saw that footage i got so nostalgic and my brain just started resurfacing a ton of memories at my grandmas house in the early 90s and i just pulled out my 3DS and brought the virtual console version. Thanks again!!

In retrospect, the worm light for the GameBoy Color was useful for car rides although I only played it when under a lamp or in the sun and I was never given a worm light as a kid because my parents were concerned I’d be up at night playing. I don't think it's a stupid challenge per se, but I think a lot of the nostalgia we experience from games like Pokemon, Mario, Halo, CoD MW/MW2, etc., all come from the fact that it was all most people had. Since everybody did it, you have more experiences from it. Nowadays, there's just far more options and people play what they prefer to play, not what they HAVE to play because it's all they have.
So much nostalgia in this video... I remember Super Mario Land... in fact I hate it the first time I played it because I ordered a a Christmas gift but I was expecting Mario Land 2. And for me Donkey Kong Land was perfect, but the things that you’re saying are true,

I find that these kind of challenges don't actually result in me playing more games on single console. Instead what seems to happen is I just wind up spending less time gaming and playing the console about as much as I would have without the challenge. If I'm in the mood for one game, and I've got this rule in my head that says I have to stick to a different game or set of games, what will happen in practice is that my brain will go "I don't really feel like playing video games anyway," and I wind up doing other stuff besides playing video games. Even cleaning my room or doing something else I've been avoiding can start to become an appealing alternative to gaming if I lock myself into playing games I'm not in the mood for. In other words, I don't break the restriction to stick with that console, but it's because about half the time it operates as a disincentive to playing games at all depending on my mood. I find that I have to set a positive goal of playing a certain number of games by a certain date in order to have that work, and if I do that it doesn't much matter which consoles they're on.
Nothing better than reliving your childhood memories throw a great library of games. Kids these days with there Call of Duty and God of War don't know what real games are.
You inspire me to do the same with various different consoles! I'm gonna have a month of Game Boy too, as well as a month of SNES, a month of Gamecube etc. Not back to back of course, but some time. :)
I got tired of my parents taking all of my games every time I get them back for sum bs reason so I bought a Gameboy and that's all I've been playing for the last 6 months 💀

I just bought dragon quest 1 and 2. I've heard great things. I also love how clean your game boy looks!
I spends years on one as grew up with them. I was so happy once the SP came out as finally a backlight.
The purple transparent GBC was my first gaming device. Just seeing it makes me nostalgic. I played so much I permanently messed up my posture lol
I know it’s 11 month later but I’d love to see another one of these
Alakazam is always beast! That Yoshi game is alright. They recently released it for switch online and I played it for like 5 hours.
That's the exact Gameboy I got for Christmas back in 99' with the pikachu yellow version!!! Oh the nostalgia!!! 😂😂😂
First time running into any of your vids. I liked this one.
Played a lot of Yoshi on NES. You actually get cutscenes if you play longer and score higher.
Nothing better than reliving your childhood memories throw a great library of games. Kids these days with there Call of Duty and God of War don't know what real games are.
I love Yoshi!!! But that's ok. It's just really simple, and fun for a short burst playing
You inspire me to do the same with various different consoles!
I'm gonna have a month of Game Boy too, as well as a month of SNES, a month of Gamecube etc. Not back to back of course, but some time. :)
Awesome stuff man. I can see the amount of work you've put into your vids. Love it!
Really awesome. Final Fantasy Adventure is a good one to try in the future.
Zelda at :43 seconds mark. Ha I called it first.
Thanks.
Nice video! I would totally play the Super Nintendo for one month! So many great games.
Firepower 2000
I did this when I was punished as a kid, but my parents forgot to take away one of my GBA.
I got tired of my parents taking all of my games every time I get them back for sum bs reason so I bought a Gameboy and that's all I've been playing for the last 6 months 💀
Why do they keep taking your games away?!
Great video! You should do the Gameboy Advance now!
