One of the first in Disney's wave of live-action remakes, and definitely one of the best. It adds a lot more to the characters and still captures a lot of the magic of the original.
That scene where Kit's father dies is so bittersweet, the way the shot lingers on Kit curled up next to his dad like he's a little boy always makes me cry
I love her reclaiming the name Cinderella as her own to show that she was no creature of ash but a phoenix rising from abuse and showing how strong she is.
This is the BEST live action remake. So much love and care was put into this film by the filmmakers and the cast were also proud of the characters they were playing without even changing anything. Lily James is so believable as Cinderella, also the fact that she enjoyed playing the role and loved the original animated film. Like she wasn't afraid to say Cinderella's kindness was her strength compared to another upcoming live action remake actress where it's the complete opposite. Lily James also sang A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes for the end credits and if you wanna hear her sing more, watch Mamma Mia 2. Glad you loved the dress, it was BREATHTAKING.
One of the few Disney live action films that not only kept to the OG as close as possible, but added more context rather than take anything away 🩵 I also love that, in this movie, they don’t make the animals talk. Ella and the mice still understand one another despite this wall of communication between them 🐭
I really love the contrast between Cinderella and Lady Tremaine; they both have known grief, but while Ella could move past it, her stepmother couldn't.
Absolutely; as well as Tremaine's "you will not go to the ball" words undone by the fairy godmother "for you _shall_ go to the ball." One speaks death the other life
Actually one of their best executions of live action remake. Doesnt go off track from the original to much. Still adds something new to the story to justify a remake. Doesnt do needless changes
I remember watching this with my Mom when it came out. While I wouldn't say it's anything mind-blowing and I haven't watched it in a very hot minute, it definitely has a lot more going for it than other Disney remakes. It stays faithful to the original film while also being it's own thing and the actors are all really good in their roles.
Yes. And the 3rd best Cinderella adaptation. 1. Ever After (A Cinderella Story) with Drew Barrymore 2. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella with Dame Julie Andrews 3. Cinderella 2015 4. Disney's original animated classic Cinderella
Notice the movie doesn't use a single line of dialogue or has a specific shot that's directly lifted from the animated movie. It's its own adaptation of the fairy tale, that prioritised the live-action medium. It doesn't look fake or artificial or cartoonish.
Definitely one of my favorite of the live adaptations of Disney classics, next to 2016’s The Jungle Book, 2017’s Beauty and the Beast, and 2019’s Aladdin. Also, I love the song that plays at the end(“Strong,” by Sonna Rele).
I have an evil stepmother like Lady Tremaine who I don’t talk to anymore. So a lot of scenes in this movie make me emotional because they’re so relatable and realistic. There is a truth to the jealousy and animosity between a stepparent and a child. That is a real problem. And that’s why the story of Cinderella is so important to tell.
I kinda felt disappointed when I saw that they didn’t include Cinderella’s dog, Bruno, in this movie. Also, unrelated, just in case you didn’t know, James Earl Jones passed away yesterday. He was a true Disney legend. He will be missed by all

A box office hit made millions😊❤one of our favs 😍 it shattered everyone expectations from the cast to the set to the crew😊 its my fave ❤️ 😅I also put it above beauty and the beast and little mermaid 🧜♀️
My biggest problem with this one besides her mantra is the scene of her locked in the attic she is just humming and dancing around whereas in the original she is banging on the door and having the animals help her out, but here it is only by sheer luck she is heard.
So what? Why the hell are you acting like Ella was informed of what's going on? She doesn't fucking know there's a search party for her. People comparing stuff to the animated movie is really idiotic, when the movie made it clear it's not following the animated movie and it's doing its own thing instead.
Helena Barnum Carter is the narrator who is the the fairy godmother. The reason the glass slippers didn't disappear is because the godmother created them. They weren't transformed from her regular slippers like the other items being transformed, like the pumpkin.
I always thought the actress who played the stepsister Anastasia Tremaine was surprisingly very beautiful even though her character is not supposed to be.
At first, I didn't like this Disney live action remake either but over the years, it's grown on me a bit. I can't say the same about the others outside of Alice in Wonderland, Jungle Book, and Pete's Dragon though.
The one live action remake that turned out good (beauty and the beast wasn't bad but i personally just found it meh) Also if you get the chance you should watch Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs, Petes Dragon, and The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbalina
Agreed! It just has so much that's special about it. Second best is Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. But I'm biased as hell because I was in that musical in my youth.
Sorry for the unrelated comment, but are there not gonna be anymore Hazbin Hotel reactions? Six months already :( really wish you would finish it since there's only 8 episodes, and you've already released a few more on patreon
💙Cinderella!!! Your reaction is magical!!! I love this version b/c they met before the ball & she didn't know he was the prince. This movie was so well cast!
This one was almost perfect. Could've been the best one. The biggest mistep was Ella. She got the kindness part down, and they expanded on her and the Prince's romance a lot (they expanded on a lot of things a lot), but in turn they made her more of a pushover. Ella in the original had been forced to be a servant since she was a child. That's all she's ever known. So she's conditioned to be submissive, but she still had points where she got angry and pushed back. When she got locked in the attic, she tried to get out. This one got the step family as a grown woman and just let them push her out of her own home and just gave up in the end. The biggest misconception of the original is that she waited for a man to save her and this one literally did that. Yet she was praised as being so admirable and independent for some reason.
Well the point is she was too kind to act on her courage when it counted, hence the point of her finally saying, "you have never been and you never will be my mother." That was her opportunity and she had taken it. And i think it was her presenting herself as a princess for the prince that made it so she had the appearance of being more strong and independent than she really was. Or maybe meeting the prince and having some genuine love in her life again made her courageous enough to endure more crap from the stepmother, maybe that's why instead of running away she went back.
@@oliviarogers2808 True but i mean in the way of a plot being brought full circle. She regained some confidence through the care of her fairy godmother, the love of the prince, etc. And that allowed her to finally show some long overdue courage
Yet it also says a lot about a person that she took this abuse and still remained a kind person without sinking down to their level. And let's not forget her final confrontation with her stepmother and her actually forgiving her. Also, Ella couldn't go anywhere because the only jobs she could have--assuming she never got a proper education--is a housemaid, seamstress, or prostitute. Even if she could leave, she had no other choice. That's not her being "weak". And lastly, emotional manipulation is a real thing that can affect ANYONE, regardless of their age. Again, that doesn't make Ella stupid or weak, she was just manipulated to take care of her step-family when they never gave a shit about her, AND it was her father's idea to basically take them in after Lady Tremaine's husband died. (Not saying I blame him for it, but still). Try to think about all that next time before you criticize how they handled Ella. You can learn a lot from a person like her.

Cate Blanchett did such an AMAZING job portraying Lady Tremaine in this movie
