I ran these missions with a group of 14 friends for the first 2 nights to help org members get it quickly done. Yesterday I decided to do them with my son's account. Logged in and asked in Global Chat if anyone was looking to do the first part of the OD missons and quickly got 3 ppl joining me. We did all 5 flawlessly in a row with only using text comms.
It ain't the hardest mission ever but it does require some knowledge and basic skills and I was blown away how well we did by just a random group of 4 ppl. Not only that we managed to actually do it but that the server didn't fail. It's also nice to have random ppl join you who don't just straight shoot you in the face.
    Another great memory.

This investment situation I imagine isn't too worrying because these types of contracts are usually negotiated how they will recoup their investments. So unless CIG is on the verge of collapsing, a full payout in cash isn't likely to happen. They could also be negotiating for a % of the SQ42 revenue or something similar.

Right, and the worst case is really a payout in instalments. This doomsday drama is just what happens when people who have no actual understanding of corporate investment get ahold of these numbers.
It is pretty entertaining reading the refundians takes though TBH. Very funny stuff.

It'd be interesting to see what updates they may have made to the deal.

We now actually know the release date of Star Citizen based on the auditor's report. As the put option on the majority of the shares expires in 2028, CIG needs a large amount of cash to meet its obligation to pay back the money to its investors. That is why we have the road to Star Citizen 1.0.

Tomato can i ask why you go all the way to the back of the Carrack to use an elevator when theres an elevator at the front? Ive seen you do it a few times now. Is there a bug or something with the front one that's gonna kill me that im not aware of? 😅

I believe in this one I was just following the other player, but I did learn yesterday that eventually the front one will break, but it takes a while.

11:48 Marketing is pushed by making money. That's what pushes marketing. That's what marketing is. Sales slowed hugely in 2023 and only ramped up end of year, so they're adapting and trying to get ahead in 2024. No conspiracy theory necessary.

as soon as squadron launches, the smart money would be to put away the total they need

HARD disagree with Morph's take that downsizing the LA studio was secretly an attempt to lay people off.... Chris said why they were doing it, to be closer to Manchester for the home stretch of development. Even Chris himself decided to move for that reason. As I also work on a global team doing technical things, I can speak to how much of a help it is to have more people more closely located. The timezone between LA and Europe is just brutal. As things get closer to wrapping up on SQ42 that just wasn't going to cut it.
It frustrates me when Morph takes these negative hot takes with no evidence to back it up. Chris told us why they were downsizing the LA office, we don't need to make up new reasons.
Overall great content as always ST!! Love the streams!

It's a digital product. There is something called VOIP conferencing. To create a game you need to communicate and share data. There is literally no need at all for everyone to move to one office...
Can you think of one? The reasons you mentioned are insufficient. I think ST's reasoning is sound.

    Here before 250 subs!

I think that if this game turns into World Of Warships in space. Premium ships that you can only purchase from the store, then it will be dead shortly.
With no incentive to play and earn in game credits to purchase ships, this game would probably only have a few million people playing at best.
I hope we have a Monthly Sub, and all ships bought in game at ship release date. You can purchase them if you want, but we can spend our UEC in game on them, or pirate yours for ourselves in game.
At least in warships, we do not pay insurance with claim times.
The server overhead is my only biggest concern. So much needs to be ready to split servers as they grow beyond the max size. Server meshing must be a nightmare when it comes to server bandwidth, replication, and meshing requirements. Especially for such a large game and data saving.
Will FPS servers have minimum of 64 tick?

I doubt that will happen. We think CIG makes a lot of money now? A VERY small number of people actually play this game on a regular basis, just imagine the potential if it goes mainstream. I don't think they're going to mess that up after they've been working towards it for over 12 years. There are a lot of very smart and talented people working for CIG who know about game design and what works vs what doesn't I trust they know how to make this successful once it releases.
Right now the only way to fund the game is ships sales, but that won't always be necessary.

There will never be ships you can only get with money. I'm pretty confident in that. At the very least, you would be able to obtain the ship in game some way.
That's not counting deals like the one with Intel, apparently they have control of that.
