@stoneguard I mean they had a great starter with the Syulen. Everything about it was par excellence for a starter, but this ship even fails against the Origin 100s much less the 300s. I wanna like it, but I just can't.
It’s a bit on the odd side. I believe it was designed to use a bigger gun that would balance it visually. Maybe a S4 or S5? In any case, not a combat ship.
The good thing about this ship is that you can make phone calls to distant relatives while trying to take out a Gladius with its single S3 with 10 shots.
The rear of the ship looks cool as hell, but the front is so clearly designed around a larger gun. The concept art had a larger one too. Feels like the offset should be way more centred if the gun is that small. The outer surfaces could use a bit more detail too
So disappointed personally. The size 3 gun has to be a mistake. I was so looking forward to this one, i love the starter ships. This looks terrible in my opinion. The interior is very nice at least.
It's a starter that's nearly the size of a Cutty. It doesn't seem to have a reason to be picked over any other starters. It's cargo is on par with the avenger, but with significantly lower firepower. Hell. It doesn't have firepower that's on par with an upgraded mustang. It doesn't have the Nomad's utility. It only has 1 of each component, so it's not going to be amazingly capable. It seems like they took the worst parts of each starter and slapped a crusader badge on it.
if it's priced above a Syulen then i can't see it doing well in the long run at all. the Spirit is huge for its crew size, but at least it can hold 2 large containers making it best in class until the ZeusCL came out.
If they just pushed the cockpit to the center, added a little turn in the hallway to get to the seat, keep the gun asymmetrical ...BAM.... They would have a winner
Intrepid's interior is by far the best out of all the starter ships imo. It perfectly caters to being a solo permanent home for the "intrepid" explorer. It's personal hab is the most complete and fleshed out with literally all the amenities you would need. The component access is the easiest as well. The cargo bay being accessible from the inside is also kinda awesome for some smuggling gameplay (Im imagining you can personally eject the cargo and dash away if caught). The single S1 components also make it relatively stealthy. Honestly I think the direction they're going with this ship is smaller MSR but more multipurpose; heck the butt of this ship more closely resembles MSR than Spirit series.
Actually it has 3 entries. Both cargo areas can be used to enter/exit the ship. If only they had made that cargo space bigger, like 2x8SCU. It would be nice mini cargo hauler, but with a comfy interior. As it is it would be great starter exploration ship. Unfortunately exploration is not in the game, yet.
Not sure where Scott is getting his info from. Maybe just giving his opinion on the facts. At 1.2scu of quantum, the only ship in its size that has more is the Cutter Rambler at 1.5scu but with a top speed or 1010m/s.
@@Kakeyoro Remember when Cutter launched and sold with 6000qt fuel only to be bumped down to 1900qt fuel and now down to 1scu? Yeah well I remember that… all my info is accurate.
@@CitizenScott They said right away they'd fucked up and that it wasn't supposed to be and wouldn't stay at 6000qt. Besides, anyone with a brain realized it made no sense and there was no way that much fuel could fit in that tiny ship. There's plenty to complain about with CIG, but that's just plain ridiculous.
If the Spirit didn't exist with its _four_ pilot guns I would say that Crusader must not care about guns too much because the MSR only has two S3s for the pilot and the single gun on the Intrepid would follow that.
Hangar shot - looks like it's floating unnaturally without any boosters keeping it aloft. It's like many of us - flawed on the outside but lovely on the inside.
Great video, the wings thruster config and the spiral when you got clipped was very insightful. I can't wait to grab one a not nomad kind of freight starter
The Crusader typical layering on the hull we see on the Spirit is missing. edit: The Intrepid has three entrances. The stairs, and both cargobays. Yes yo ucan use the cargo bays to get into the ship.
I like it I really do. Thedesign gives me that throwback field to the Eben Hawk from the old Republic games. Also you can crouch on the cargo ramps and use them to enter and exit the ship as well.
I just bought this as my starter ship and so far I love every bit of it. Exterior and interior, plus they changed the gun to S4, but I have no frame of reference for that yet.
Something I want to know is is the ASU shielded. That would actually make the ship useful. I do think a lot of people have a misconception about this ship is more of an explorer / expedition. Or even courier runs
But also worse interior (cockpit in/out animation is hella long. Not to mention having to use the elevator to traverse the ship might not be a good idea in a lot of scenarios), and exposed cargo outside which makes it very vulnerable. The intrepid definitely has a lot of grievances when you look at stats vs stats, but I think its better than syulen in terms of comfort and ease of use. It definitely can be improved, but I think that's where perhaps CIG can introduce variants since the way the Intrepid's chassis is laid out seems perfect and easy to swap things in and out to tailor the gameplay to what players prefer.
Im struggling to find any information on its flight performance. The only use I see for a ship of this size, cargo capacity, and firepower is as a high speed and/or long range courier and I just don't have enough information to judge on that.
If it’s cheap, less than a titan, imma get one. It will feel weird sitting next to my rambler, but I like it. It’s a really funky looking ship and I love it
I really like the interior of the Intrepid…as for the exterior the black paint we will be able to get for it will cover the sharp lines. Problem is I already have small ships and just don’t need another runabout.
They need to fix that box like look of the center section, better lines from the cockpit through to the engines and some sort of slight curve like the spirit, I'd put some small fins on the VTOLs to, so they're vertical while the vtols are flat.
It's the largest single-pilot ship in the game. It has literally nothing for a second player. But like you said, it doesn't quite have the storage to be more than a starter and the single gun means it's competing with the MPUV for combat capability. I think this ship is only going to be purchased as a CCU token.
The interior design just doesn’t fully deliver. The Nomad, while smaller, manages a 24-unit cargo capacity. If they redesigned this ship with a single, wide cargo lift at the back and increased the capacity to 24+ units, while streamlining the interior to mirror the Nomad's open layout, it would be transformative. Right now, the excess walls and partitions eat into the available space, making the interior feel surprisingly cramped for such a large ship-almost like it was rushed. An open layout and greater cargo capacity would make it a standout. Hopefully, a rework is in the plans!
I think the perfect crusader ship would the MSR but with a ladder or one man elevator to the cockpit. I love the MSR but gets really tiring running through the door opening simulator to exit and enter the ship
My two main issues are the thrusters and the gun. Gun needs to be moved forward or needs to be longer; it just looks hilariously tiny currently. Moving the whole gun forward could clear up some space internally and lessen the long hallway of the cockpit. Make the entryway a bit nicer. But I wouldn't be against making it a bespoke size 5 and making the gun longer. And I'm not sure what's up with the rear thrusters, maybe I'm biased because of the C1 but they look way too elongated, and I feel like they should be closer to the wing tips. They just look off and they stick out. Apart from others complaints about forced asymmetry which I actually like about the Intrepid, I think it's 80% there and needs some tweaks before release and It's pretty disappointing it wasn't polished more before this
Love the interior. As for exterior, well... - Cockpit area is too thin, or too long. (I'm sure some corridor could be reduced slightly.) - The ship is built around an insignificant gun. Bigger, or dual gun is needed. - Needs at least one tiny window from the living area. - Engines don't look powerful enough for Crusader, nor for the size and shape of the body. - Rear winglets should sweep in, not out, to really fit with the other Crusader ships. - Drop-down cargo bay leaves too little space to manually load. Even better, allow a hoverbike to exit the space smoothly, and I'll carry 2 Pulses! - Finally, a bit more love on the exterior panelling, namely the large white panels above the cockpit.
Inside it is cool but that cargo space is anemic. So are the weapons. What can it really do? Does it have extended range or a small signature? I like how they designed the living space and internals in general, but it doesn’t make too much sense. Weird ship.
Probably the first genuinely asymetric ship. Internal bulkhead should offer the pilot security from passenger intruding, so anti-piracy. I hope the weapon is bespoke, like ARES.
I'm happy CIG added a new starter. This one seems to be tailored for those who want a lot of interieur space for (hopefully) little money. Thus, I see it as an alternative to the cutter. As long as you don't have any interest into getting into any kind of combat that ship will work for box deliveries or being a mobile home.
I like the ship; looks, design, function. Something different rather than more of the same. I'm looking for variety. The question I have relates to price verses value.
For those saying it is too chunky for Crusader. The MSR is a very chunky ship that, in my opinion, just looks oversize. The Hercules itself is also not a thin-boi either. The only sleek ship in the line is the Spirit. So, it's not like the Intrepid is breaking continuity here, the Spirit is actually the odd one in the bunch. Sure you could count the Ares, but the Ares is already an odd one as it is not in the same category as all the others and "just combat". Anyhow, looking at the Intrepid and its interior, its exterior cannot be smaller without decreasing what's inside of it. Removing the engineering part would do nothing to change its overall shape btw. The oddity is the cockpit. It does not seem as sleek as the Spirits. That *could* be changed with increasing the length of the Hallway towards the cockpit. This would make the ship longer but the increased length would allow for smoother curves and lines. And oddly long hallways is a Crusader thing. But the increased length would (have to) interfere with other stuff. Maneuverability, it'd be a bigger target and it wouldn't necessarily fit in places it fits now. About the firepower, Crusader is not known for its overly incredible firepower on ships. It's usually mediocre or below. And the intrepid is a civilian starter. Eh. Why would it need more firepower?
I don't care what are the people on twitter are saying about this ship, im getting it INSTANTLY. seeing the insides of this ship made me want it so bad.
I know its almost objectively ugly, but I absolute adore this ship. It's just so quirky and funky. Truly unique. The cargo is unique, the interior is wonderfully designed. And I personally love the asymmetrical look and the crusader aesthetic in general. I'm absolutely picking this one up. I guess if I had to pick one part about the design itself that I dont like, I guess I'd say the cockpit seems a bit long. Making it a bit shorter and stockier might lend to the 'chunky asymmetry' thing its got going on, a bit like the MSR. But honestly, thats a bit of a nitpick, I like the longer cockpit as well- adds to that aforementioned quirkiness that I like. I've seen some people say they'd love it if it was symmetrical, and even saw a photoshopped mock up of it if it were symmetrical. And it did look nice, but it also was basically just a smaller Spirit. Which, to me at least, is a bit boring and uninspired. The only real complaint I have (as others have said) is the gun. It's almost hilariously under powered Like if we were to classify this with a role, what would it even be? It's not a fighter, or a hauler, or an expedition. It's not particularly fast or maneuverable from what I've seen, at least compared to some other ships of its class. It's just kind of a deluxe camper van I guess? Seems a bit homeless in that regard. So, again as others have said, I think sizing that gun up to a s4 would be a nice move. It would give it a unique spin on a starter ship, a starter with the biggest gun. And turn it into a scrappy little campervan. I'd also be okay with the s3 if they added another two s1 guns though, or one more s2, or maybe even gave it a bunch of missiles or something. It just needs a little more to define its niche. Also interested in what kind of variants this one will have, if any.
I mean, doesn't the Avenger Titan have a size 4 and two size 3s, with missiles and the same amount of storage? I know the Titan is technically a more "premium" starter, but a single size 3 is just like, laughably underpowered, ESPECIALLY with it being asymmetrical to fit the MIGHTY size 3 lol.
@@tallperson117 yes exactly, and the avenger still has a bed and living quarters too, albeit a very small one lol. I bet this will be more expensive than an avenger too. Even if its the same price, still underwhelming as far as fire power goes. Also like you said, even though I like th asymmetry, the fact that its asymmetric to accommodate a "big gun" and use it as a focal point of the design... and then the gun is just a size 3. Its silly. It doesnt need to be like an ion or anything, but at least put it on the avengers level. I'd even be okay with a size 5, and maybe 2 size 1s. A bespoke custom gun would be cool, but tbh I dont mind it being customizable either. It just needs to be bigger. I'm pretty optimistic about it changing though, people are being loud enough about it and CIG *usually* listens when it comes to this sort of thing. (After all, they'll make less money if people think its underpowered lol)
@@GomulDart I'd dig it with a bespoke size 5, make it like a baby Ares. With a single size 5 it would be unique amongst the starters without being overpowered and it would aesthetically fit the asymmetrical design. I agree tho, I feel like there's a decent chance it gets updated eventually. So much about it screams "rushed and unfinished."
Rare Intrepid enjoyer here. I actually really like this thing. As someone who isnt really into star fighting im not upset about the singular S3 and it seems like a really unique ships that will let me toy around a little bit of everything the game has to offer. Which is honestly what a starter ought to be. Its seems to be getting a really bad rap by the community but I hope CIG doesnt change it too much 😢
I believe the weapon will be Size 3, but it will be a bespoke weapon that has better stats and range, but cant be removed. a single S4 gun would fill a nice niche. but this ship is just atrocious in all regards except the hab
It's not a [insert ship type here] ship.
The good thing about this ship is that you can make phone calls to distant relatives while trying to take out a Gladius with its single S3 with 10 shots.
Yes, telling them you love them and will never seen them again
Telling them you will miss them and will never see them again
It so clearly has space for 16 scu as well, there's easily more space above the cargo compartments
The rear of the ship looks cool as hell, but the front is so clearly designed around a larger gun. The concept art had a larger one too. Feels like the offset should be way more centred if the gun is that small. The outer surfaces could use a bit more detail too
a single S3 is bizarrely underpowered in a starter ship. like it's barely more than a Cutter's firepower iirc.
The asymmetrical kills this ship for me. Would have been nice with 2 size 1 guns on the sides and cockpit in centre.
So disappointed personally. The size 3 gun has to be a mistake. I was so looking forward to this one, i love the starter ships. This looks terrible in my opinion. The interior is very nice at least.
I don’t know why, but this interior really strikes a cord with me.
You keep expecting a mini Spirit, when it's actually a mini MSR. That's what you're missing. I love the look. I can't wait to get one.
A mini mini mini MSR
MSR is is meh. This is more meh.
If they just pushed the cockpit to the center, added a little turn in the hallway to get to the seat, keep the gun asymmetrical ...BAM.... They would have a winner
i love the a-symetry in the msr, this is just a bit too much, i think it would look batter with the cockpit a bit shorter/backed up
Intrepid's interior is by far the best out of all the starter ships imo. Honestly I think the direction they're going with this ship is smaller MSR but more multipurpose; heck the butt of this ship more closely resembles MSR than Spirit series.
cockpit looks like the thumbs from spykids
Actually it has 3 entries. Both cargo areas can be used to enter/exit the ship. If only they had made that cargo space bigger, like 2x8SCU. It would be nice mini cargo hauler, but with a comfy interior. As it is it would be great starter exploration ship. Unfortunately exploration is not in the game, yet.
WHAT IN THE SPACE WHALE POOCLOUD OF CRUSADER IS THIS!
I think I'd prefer is there was a version of the Inferno/ion that had all the stuff from that smaller Intrepid built into it too lol.
Odd to do an offset S3.
If it has a lot of Q fuel and is fast, I can live with a S3.
It's not actually fast, 8SCU is mediocre, 1xS3 is pathetic, and QT fuel stats are fleeting at best. Big fat L.
Has as much as the Zeus CL at 1.2scu of quantum and top speed in NAV is 1225m/s.
I think if the cockpit and gun were just a bit broader, it would fix a lot of aesthetic problems with the ship and make it more along the Ares line
Hopefully they see the huge request for a size 4 or 5 and just upgrade it before it’s released.
You can access the cargo bay from the inside and use it as an entrance if you need to.
It has more than one exit. You can open the cargo hold from the inside and use it as an elevator.
You can get in and out of the ship via the cargo lifts. Just gotta crouch
You can enter the ship via the cargo lifts either side
Normally there's a surprise ship, really excited for that!!
Move the avionics space that's right behind the pilot chair to the engineering room and shorten the pilot "stalk" and it would look a lot better.
Of course the Sulyn is also a 'starter ship', but has three times the firepower.
Only size 3 guns so little storage big and bulky... what the point of this?
Im struggling to find any information on its flight performance. The only use I see for a ship of this size, cargo capacity, and firepower is as a high speed and/or long range courier and I just don't have enough information to judge on that.
How much do you like doors ?
CIG : Yes !
“There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.” I like the ship. It’s a delight to the senses.
I actually really like this - I’d use it for exploration and messing around
If it’s cheap, less than a titan, imma get one. It will feel weird sitting next to my rambler, but I like it. It’s a really funky looking ship and I love it
I really like the interior of the Intrepid…as for the exterior the black paint we will be able to get for it will cover the sharp lines. Problem is I already have small ships and just don’t need another runabout.
They need to fix that box like look of the center section, better lines from the cockpit through to the engines and some sort of slight curve like the spirit, I'd put some small fins on the VTOLs to, so they're vertical while the vtols are flat.
I find it very cool, I own very large ships, but I also enjoy having a very small one where I can go on a "roadtrip" !
the gun should be on top and cockpit in the middle. would be perfect and less chunky
That living space is pretty much perfect.
I love the MSR but gets really tiring running through the door opening simulator to exit and enter the ship
what they should've done is change the location of the gun to where the missiles are and place the missiles bay below the cockpit.
The Intrepid cockpit needs to be chunkier, it proportions just doesn't look right as it is. This is what I think is missing, ST
(I'm sure some corridor could be reduced slightly.)
- The ship is built around an insignificant gun.
- Finally, a bit more love on the exterior panelling, namely the large white panels above the cockpit.
there are 3 exit/entry on the Intrepid
Below par for CIG. Dunno how this one slipped through the net, their standard is so much higher than this. It's like it's from another game entirely.
Inside it is cool but that cargo space is anemic. So are the weapons. What can it really do? Does it have extended range or a small signature? I like how they designed the living space and internals in general, but it doesn’t make too much sense. Weird ship.
The Noob Star Runner (NSR) needs a bigger size gun to balance it dps wise with the avenger
09:23 Wow I really like how that transition came out 😆
would love there to be a bigger version of the C1 (like with the same design type with living arrangement in it etc)
I like the blocky angled profile.
Retro sci-fi.
Make the engines vertical, add a back door, make it a mini C1. Then it would be perfect :D
The Intrepid looks like the Sbarro Autobau of starter ships.
Cockpit just needs to be a bit wider to make it look better.
Probably the first genuinely asymetric ship. Internal bulkhead should offer the pilot security from passenger intruding, so anti-piracy. I hope the weapon is bespoke, like ARES.
So, could ye technically fit one of the new hover bikes into the cargo bay?
İt is a great box missions ship when you bored you can just log out and while doing missions you can enjoy the view in this good cockpit
Big swing and a miss, got a face only a mother could love
I want one it's prefect. I have a Titan the difference is the intrepid has storage where the Titan doesn't. completely modern ship.
It has an injection seat which many ships do not have tho.
Sad thing that in combat, it holds up like an aurora. It definitely needs an upsized weapon. Better hull, shields and make it more sturdy
Functionally seems to be an Avenger in concept but is that really a single size 3 gun? What price are they pitching this at? Is this a $50 ship?
You have three exits on that ship you can rid the cargo lifts down.
If it is $50 it is fine, anything more and I would question it.
They should make a bounty-hunting variant and replace the cargo areas with prisoner storage.
I have no doubt a bounty hunting variant was in mind when designing this ship.
All i hoped for for this ship was a cargohold with 12 to 16 scu, would have taken the looks and weapon for granted.
I reminds me to the ships of V, dunno why, the landing transports they used to come'n'go from the mothership
It's almost hilariously under powered
Like if we were to classify this with a role, what would it even be?
Thank you for the combat footage
Just a few days after I wanted to get back into the game and bought the Reliant Kore
That weapon slot seems too big fkr the weapon it currently has, so i suspect this ship will get its own specialy made weapon. Might even be good enought to make it a great ship.
