Love your outlook! In the past when people would ask me what is my style, I would struggle to answer, then one day out of frustration, I blurted out 'Arlene style' and now that is my standard answer. 😆
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...every day is a good day for me to watch art videos for me Helen! Both Helen and Sandi (Hester) channels are my go to for art tutorials and tips now 😁❤ So thank you Helen 😊 watching you experiment in your sketchbooks inspires me to take out my supplies and have fun
How lovely to see you on a Thursday Helen! I think I have taken most of your courses now and can see how my art has evolved over the past year. I never used to like my own art but now have the confidence to hang it on my own wall! Thank you for sharing your sketchbooks and for encouraging others to have a go. X
Oh thank you, you are lovely. II'm super chuffed that what I share is in some way helpful. I'm ahead of the game this week... this video was actually meant to be for next Tuesday and then I remembered it's a Bank Holiday so I thought I'd pop it out today instead as the day after a bank holiday no-one watches videos...
I have also made art for 20 odd years now and the journey has been so much fun! And while I was very young when I started, I can see themes from way back that I am still very drawn to. Some things have fallen away completely while others have stuck around stubbornly. I'm excited to see where we are in another 20 years :D
Yes. You're so right. if I go back to the art I made as a child 45 years ago it still contains some seeds of things I do now. Its a nice thought to think what we'll be making 20 years from now. Thank you
Thank you ❤ I appreciate the gentle self evaluation questions to ask when reviewing past sketchbooks. I have been doing watercolor painting for almost a year and still find my style all over the place. But I'm also finding patterns emerging and finding things I love (and don't love) as I continue my journey. You are a true inspiration! I will remember this video and revisit it often when I need a pep talk to keep moving forward!
So great to see your older sketchbook and hear you reflect on what you like and what still interests you. I've heard several artists speak about developing a style and I really like your particular approach - especially since you provide such good examples from your own past. It all makes me even more motivated to keep working in my sketchbooks!
Thank you for another encouraging and soul boosting visit to our homes from yours. You are such a breath of fresh air to watch and listen to…especially when we are in the throes of autumn…your videos are a ray of sunshine xxx
Looking through your sketchbooks was such a treat! 😀 I love the color combinations, and your tips for finding our style where invaluable. I'm right now very curious about that idea with my own art, so it's a relief to know that it's an evolving process. Thanks so much 💜
Oh how wonderful! Thank you. I'm so glad it was helpful - if it is any help I think that art making is a constant quest, a continual process of searching and finding, searching and finding...
My style is always shifting depending on the time of year, mood, energy levels and life events. It's true there's always an essence of the same recurring themes which evolve with time. This video really resonates with me right now. 😊
Thank u for sharing your knowledge and experience. I tend to chop and change my art style because I get bored of doing the same thing over and over again. I feel so much happier hearing your advice and I will continue to follow my intuitive feelings on this creative journey ❤❤❤
I started experimenting in all kinds of mixed media arts 3 years ago and am still trying to find my style. I really love some things I have done, others not so much. I am enjoying the journey and the experimentation. I love your sketchbooks both from years ago and current. Thanks for sharing. 😀
I am finding it hard to find myself. So many years spent being "others". I will pay more attention to what I have done that feels more authentic. Thank you Helen ❤
Oh good luck… it’s not an easy thing to do..and you’re right as women we are not culturally expected to take up our own space and recognise our own wants/desires/loves and so it’s harder I think for us to do that in our art too. Art imitates life…xx
Thank you for another truly inspiring view inside of your Art Work. I‘m a textile Artist from germany and i work in a similiar way. Curiosity, joy, drive and perseverance are good ingredients for artistic development. You are a true role model.
Love your video, as always! I especially liked the tip to look for the "I love it when..." things I like in my art and others. Great idea to get my inspirational juices flowing. Thanks so much each and every video is such a treat. You make my day!
Well I really love them. They are expensive. I always buy them when cass art has a sale…it’s difficult to advise really, I spend money on materials because I use them in commercial projects and feel I need to have the best possible quality materials for client projects and for longevity…So in that regard I think they are worth it..but everyone spends their money differently and has a different take on what is valuable and what is value….but they are beautiful and have a huge colour range in one palette…
