I’m a huge fan of Mary Fedden! She inspired me to look more closely at ordinary everyday objects around me rather than the great outdoors, as I’m definitely an indoors person. Thank you for your lovely videos, Helen; I am working my way through all of them to remind me how much I enjoy sketchbook work.❤
Your art is crazy and beautiful. I love the colors! Your black and white paintings are my favorite, no wait--the one with the blue and white chair, there are so many to enjoy! Thank you for sharing your work. Big brush was transformative!
That was so funny Helen…because everything you said about the artists that inspired you is EXACTLY how I feel about your art!…and why I so look forward to your enthusiasm in your videos! Thank you so much. I’ve got stuck on making crocheted storage baskets at the minute but after watching this I want to try some painting too. So much I want to do. So little time.
Wonderful Bonnie. Aren't you a treasure. Thank you, thank you. We just have to follow our creative muse don't we... you are right there is never quite enough time to explore everything xx
Thank you Helen for your contageous enthusiasm. Love your colourful sketches and paintings. Learnt about Feddens book through Sadie Hesters videos, and now your detailed show of her art makes me want her rather expensive book…when you are on the other side of brexit🤣
I have Mary's (Fedden) book on my Amazon wishlist 😁 Sandi (Hester) mentioned the very one you featured Helen! I love her art too...some of her paintings are almost Surrealistic (Leonora Carrington?) or Georgia O'Keefe? Thank you Helen (yes I know this is more than a year late lol 🤭😄 better late than never eh?...
Soooo glad to have discovered you, your Art & your RUclips channel. Thankyou so much for sharing your inspirations...you are a breath of fresh air!!! 🙌✨️🌿
Your Understanding of what you love about a painting , is Really so helpful to me. Your Color Balance on each of your Artpieces are so Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your love for Color and Insights into what makes a painting work. 💐You are an Amazing artist ‼️Toom@CapeTown
Love, love, love your bright and bold sketchbooks. And thanks for the heads up about acrylic gouache - I didn't even know that was a thing, but just what I've been looking for. 😃👍👍👍
Thank you so much! I am a little bit stuck with sketchbooks at the moment and your video inspired some new ideas, including to take a look in some art books and try a larger substrate. Have a wonderful week!
I just found you early this morning-you are absolutely lovely, generous and your artwork is just beautiful! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next! Blessings!❤
Oh thank you so much. Here's a video about the sketchbooks I use most frequently. But the extra large one I use here is a Daler Rowney A3 sketchbook... ruclips.net/video/XvA_m3UQ-yM/видео.html
Super inspiring as usual. I also have a book of Matisse : his collage period. It's trully amazing. My interior is pretty minimal. Black, white, empty spaces. I wonder how it can inspire me for my paintings. I have the wish to become a "real painter" (I only do art journaling for the moment) but I don't know where to start :) It's one thing to use materiel existing (collage) and another to face the blank page and have evertyhing to create from scratch :) If you have any advice for beginners like me, I'll take !! (and yes of course, I'm already binge watching all your videos :D )
Thank you Melody, I think i would say that plenty of excellent artists use collage in their work. I think finding your feet is about making a lot of art, and finding both subject matters and art making processes which inspire you. Perhaps maximalist interiors aren't your thing and minimalist monochromes are..good luck x
I agree! Helen is the most inspiring and encouraging of artists! I wonder if you painted your own collage papers, just get some paint on paper, let them dry, then use your handpainted papers in your collage making? Best wishes, Michele
Gorgeous, gorgeous paintings Helen and very inspiring for me. I have a question about your subject matter - are you working from a photo, real life or are the subjects (room vignettes and florals) from your imagination ? I get bogged down, always, with choosing WHAT to paint in my sketchbook.
Oh thank you, that is so lovely of you. Sometimes I will work from a photo, or have something in front of me or just from my imagination. I do whatever is easiest in that moment... I try to make working in my sketchbook as easy as possible and remove any friction, so if I find i'm procrastinating I will just use a photo I have or repeat something I've done before. xx
Oh that is so kind of you. So I think it’s called Fluorescent Opera Pink… it is super bright…I have the little box set and an extra bottle of the pink. Whenever I buy art material I’m always drawn to the pinkest of pinks! X
Whenever I feel “down and out”, I open one of your videos and you brighten my day. You are so enthusiastic it makes me want to start painting.
I'm so glad you enjoy them and what a lovely thing to say! Thank you 🙏🏼
Honestly! Your enthusiasm is downright needed & appreciated. I always feel inspired and encouraged by your words & images. Much gratitude, Michele
Wow, thank you! Michele that is a lovely thing to say. Thank you, thank you x

Gosh how lovely you are. Thank you so much. And yes I often find if I’m feeling a bit tight that a larger brush instantly loosens up the painting! Xx
That was so funny Helen…because everything you said about the artists that inspired you is EXACTLY how I feel about your art!…and why I so look forward to your enthusiasm in your videos! Thank you so much.

My thoughts exactly, Bonnie!

Oh you are lovely. How about this instead 115 of her paintings in a slideshow...ruclips.net/video/XAHFQAdrHPs/видео.html

Thank you for this explanation about the different forms of gouache.
I do think though that your "large" brush is more a medium size. 🙂

Great video! Love the eyeshadow 😁btw . Those paints look intense for colour 😮
