I don't see clouds any more. I see interesting interactions between different air masses. It's really incredible. It's a lot of these posted time lapses that have contributed to the way clouds appear to me now. Nice piece of work. Great tips. Not something I can do at present, but it does give some clues as to what goes into them.

Hey Bry, excellent tuition. Good to see a fellow novocastrian sharing the passion. I've done many a dawn shot from the beaches from Nobbys to Caves, as we have a great coastline. Mornings are my favorite and I carve a wave or two while the camera does it's work. To read a book is to miss all that beauty surrounding me. thanks again.

I moved to Jindabyne in 2013 (after 25 years in Newcastle). It takes a special kind of person to Timelapse. Most people don't have the patience. Unless you can leave the camera unattended. Don't you worry about yours while going for a surf?

Brynmag Productions “I moved to Jindabyne in 2013 (after 25 years in Newcastle)”…wow, even more awesome material to film down there!!! Hope it’s all turned out well for you. The snow season (any time really) is magic in the mountains.
“It takes a special kind of person to Timelapse. Most people don't have the patience.”….all it takes is a love of nature and the outdoors, the rest takes care of itself. If one looks there is an abundance of material to capture. I’m regularly called upon by several farm owners, in the New England region, to help them rid the wild dogs & foxes killing their newborn livestock. I set the camera up and go off to do my thing. Plenty of dawns/sunsets/rolling clouds over the ranges to catch using this scenario.
”Unless you can leave the camera unattended. Don't you worry about yours while going for a surf?”…on the beach I have friends &/or know many of the lifeguards (I’m a volunteer lifesaver). If I want higher shots like those you took at carpark at Bar Beach, I place it in the car which is locked. On the farms, not a problem.

hi bryn! and good morning. good movie, nice chart!
re NB at 0:55. instead of re-importing 5x, you might try this: export 1fps from the original video (use high data rate to preserve quality of the frames, 95mbps). then collate those stills @30fps = gives you clip that is 30x original speed. even faster if you only collate some of the stills. the process is a lot quicker than re-importing 5x! have a nice day!

You're welcome. I checked out your timelapses. I really enjoyed the Fiji one. That was excellent.
    I subbed your channel too.

The new Hero3 allows for charging while videoing or taking photos. If you could run a power lead out to where you were timelapsing. It could go all day and night.
I also use a Samsung camera, as well as a Canon. Both can be powered while timelapsing.
I usually use the battery bacpac with the hero1 or hero2. That gives me about 5 hours.
I have one sunrise on my channel, but I don't like getting up that early. Lol.

    Hey Richard
I see clouds differently too now.
Ever since I dropped through them from 10,000 feet (Skydiving).
I often just stop and look up.
I will be doing some more timelapse tutorials soon.

    Hi there
Oh I definitely consider our Daily Photo Projects to be timelapses. They just take a little too long to fit onto the chart anywhere. and they are more like 2-4 fps.
If you are lucky enough to be able to timelapse a construction, then I would suggest finding a fixed location for the camera and make sure you have power available. Some cameras can be set to not turn off (or wake up in time for the next photo). If you use an intervalometer and take a photo every 15 minutes,

    Hello Floyd.
You're right. I know how to do that now but when I made that ice melting video a few years ago, I didn't know how else to do it.
Thanks for the suggestion. You should make a video explaining that or I might do one.

  • @brynmag
    @brynmag  11 лет назад

It either needs to be a special feature of the camera or it needs the ability to plug in an intervalometer, so that it can control the intervals for you and take the photos for you.
I think you should post your DPP every year at least. You can speed them up as your progress.

Great video! I love getting tips from other people who have the patience for time lapsing. I'm sure I'll be using that chart at some point. I've done a few time lapses that don't follow a timed schedule. Almost more stop motion I guess. Examples are the tattoo portion of my daily photo project, jigsaw puzzles, and I'm currently demolishing and rebuilding a house that is filmed a few hours at a time as construction happens. Will you have any tips for this type of shooting in future videos?

minustwelve Ok that's great. Once you get used to working it out, you won't need it but it's a good reference point.
I use a external battery pack now for longer timelapses. I did a test star timelapse a while back and I got 3 seconds of footage before the battery went flat. Lol.

I have plans to timelapse a sunrise from inside an old shipwreck....maybe one day I will actually do it.
With the Hero3 - I intend to make more use of the 720p-120fps mode as well as the 240fps mode. Slow mo.

Wow. Aren't perspectives amazing? Hmm. Can you do timelipes from that one? There may be a use for speeding up the vid and editing a great splat at the end. LOL I'll be watching.

    Cont:
Then every day would create roughly one second of video (@ 30fps). 60 days = one minute of video.
You can decrease your interval (to say every 5 minutes) to increase the length of your video.
I will be doing a few timelapse videos in future.
I will be getting anew roof on my house maybe soon, so might try to do a timelapse of that as an example.
    Thanks for watching.

    Hello Bryn,
Great videos! you've inspired me to make my own. I have a question about when you use the timer for time-lapsing. I recently made one for my camera after watching your videos. I was wondering if you use a set frame rate specifically for the timer, because my videos do not come out as smooth as your timer videos.
    Thanks Kyle.

Well explained. Thank you so much for this. I have been fiddling with the Time Lapse Video feature on my Hero4 Black but didn't really understand how it worked. This video helped explained a lot. Is there a way to slow down the playback in GoPro Studio? Can you please do a video on how to edit the time lapse video? I would love to be able to slow it down a bit. Thank you again for the great video. I subbed. :)

      Hi there.
You're welcome. Yes you can slow down timelapse sequences in GPS. I would love to do a tutorial on editing Timelapse videos. When I get more time I will do some more videos and updates to old videos. Check out my channel and search for "timelapse", you might find some you haven't seen already that might be useful.
      Cheers
