- Hey you guys! This was a very interesting video! Mia and I were continuously surprised! Bruce has an outstanding voice and we couldn't have said our thoughts any better in the video! This was an epic performance and we felt like we were there! This was a very fun reaction to shoot and we enjoyed very second of it! We have no one else to thank but our RUclips family! The guitars' synchronizing sound so beautiful and they make such a distinct sound! We felt that everything was on point and Mia and I rocked out! Thank you all for your support and for your amazing suggestions! And as always, stay safe and stay tuned for upcoming videos! We love you guys!

Screw Disneyland. An Iron Maiden show is the happiest place on Earth.
Better company, too. 😜😁
Amen to that 100%!!!!
Damn skippy! I’ve seen Iron Maiden 10 times and always a great show!
Luis Nunes I went to my first maiden concert a while back and when I was there me and some guy starting chatting like we’ve known each other all our lives before the show started. Best night of my life
truer words could not be spoken
The drummer Nicko McBrain doesn’t get enough credit, he kills this start to finish
He does but Streve Harris pules the bass
kills it start to finish with that big goffy grin on his face, the look of a man loving it
Thats true in most bands.. Drummer very rarely gets any appreciation....
Those who know, know though ;-)
Saw some documentarie on Lars Ulrich a few years ago, and in it, Lars and Nicko meet in a studio, and Lars is starstruck, and claims on the spot, that Nicko is so much better than him on the drums
Based on the longest major poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge - published in 1798
I first heard this song, then found out it was based on the poem of the same name got me to read the poem it self.
I got a Jeopardy question correct in the "English Literature" category because of this song. The literal refs this band has made are amazing!
Seeing Iron Maiden live should be on every bucket list. Iron Maiden are not just musicians they are story tellers.
it's a must go, i have seen them twice,
you will get your money's worth. They are loud during their live performances
Seen them six times already. I was 24 when I went to the Powerslave concert. I'm 58 now.
Took my daughter to see them in August 2019, awesome show, up the irons.
@@beastdogs6664 you are the real mvp 🤘
@@davidcantu4166 that's pretty cool, I bet back in the day was intense show 🤘
Moral of the song: Respect the sea and the creatures in and above it. Killing an albatross is considered bad luck by sailors, they're used to guide a lost ship after a storm.
That is why Adrian, Dave, and Janick are called the three amigos.
Yes so many songs we're all three have a solo in the same song. A lot of times Adrian up start the solo Dave finish it. You can also watch their communication I think they just do whatever that night what one place tonight may not be what they play tomorrow night house they're just that interchangeable and that damn good. Greatest live band ever and I don't think it's close.
And thats why my dad has a shirt
LOS TRES AMIGOS!!
they're really enjoyin'!!!!
Y'all brought a tear to my eye. This band made me a metalhead. To see you guys, and watch you get so happy about a band that changed my life makes me so happy. Btw, maiden was the first concert I ever saw. I was 14.
..saw them in cape town 2016 aged 52, but a fan since '81... best band ever, poetry, history, mythology, musical genius..... up the irons!
Dead on about the poem. That part during the boat creaking is a direct quote from the poem, as is "Day after day, day after day, we stuck nor breath nor motion. As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean. Water water everywhere, and all the boards did shrink. Water water everywhere, nor any drop to drink." Written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1797-98.
The poem is sung almost whole, just slightly condensed.
Dude, just about the whole song are direct quotes from the TROTAM.
As I'm watching this really excellent reaction, I'm reading that Martin Birch, the legendary producer who produced Powerslave (the album this song first appeared on), and all the other early Maiden albums, and a shocking number of timeless albums from other artists, has passed away at 71 years old. RIP Martin - truly you produced the soundtrack to my formative years.
Every Maiden song is a lesson in history or literature. Up the Irons. \ıı/
Every Iron Maiden song is a lesson in music!
@@danw4490 Absolutely!
@@danw4490 You're both right!
UP THE IRONS!!!
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is a famous poem. That's why you've heard of it. The song is based on the poem.
Bruce Dickinson's movements and gestures are so big, theatrical, and exaggerated because there are 80,000 people in the crowd and he is trying to reach the people in the back row. Epic
Bruce understands theater everthing has to be big
Also his said this is his favourite song to sing, and you can tell he gets really into it.
LOVE you girls and your channel!! PLEASE keep up the awesome work and enjoy your lives, ladies!! I particularly enjoy the younger lady's reaction to the old METAL classics!!!!
Finally reactors who also pay attention to the setting / stage, the rhtym (the galloping sound is one of their trademarks) and the sound of a ship. Not a lot get that! They just hear creepy sounds and that's it. You DID notice! I don't post comments often, but I would feel 'bad' if I didn't leave a comment. Young kids, opening up for rock/metal, paying attention, knowing some of the names.. When I first saw your channel, I thought it was just a couple of girls giggling about that old music, like how can anyone like this. But.. I was wrong :) You're doing a great job. Keep on rocking \m/ Edit: just watched your 'FAQ' video and Mia mentioned her birthday was august 10th, so I guess happy birthday to you!
SportivaItalia yes, they’re very deceptive. Probably many had those thoughts initially - until you hear their perceptive analyses. If you’re relatively new to them there was initially three of them. Their friend Sarah was temporarily stranded there due to COVID but has since gone home. They say she might appear again from time to time.
They are two very well informed (and musically educated) young women. The way the left one (sorry I missed your name) taps out the keyboards too is brill
We studied this poem in high school, then I saw this show 3 months later. 3 days before the long Beach show he mentioned at the beginning. We were 10 feet from the stage in a crowd of 42,000.
Wow! You are so lucky! I bet it was fun!
@Bif Webster was Twisted Sister the opening band? Thats who was with them when I saw them in Phoenix Az.
When all this Covid business is gone, get yourselves to a Maiden concert. They are amazing. Your reactions make me smile so much. I think the metal community has embraced you lovely girls. You are part of us now.❤
Stellar reaction. Can't wait for the next one. I think you should revisit Korn. Falling Away from Me or the mighty Amon Amarth... Twilight of the Thunder God (official vid)
Only when you play Maiden, do some research on the song.
I love both of you girl's enthusiasm. The first time that I watched one of your videos, I enjoyed your reactions, but wasn't sure if your appreciation was 100% real. Then, after watching a number of your videos, it seems clear that you both are enjoying metal music. It's a beautiful thing for a lot of us long time metalheads to see.I especially appreciate how much attention you pay to the various musician's talents.Enjoy watching!
Anytime I see you guys make Iron Maiden reactions, I click immediately! Keep doing more Iron Maiden please!!
I love seeing and will support younger kids listening to and understanding the music I grew up with and got so much shit from my parents and other grown ups at the time lol this music stands the test of times and will be around for many more decades with youngsters like yall listening and learning about this kind of music 🤘 UP THE IRONS
It’s cool to see another generation of Maiden fans being created. The music speaks. They are among the greatest storytellers in the history of mankind. There is a good reason Iron Maiden inspires a near religious relationship with their fans, they are religion in my house.
Great! This made me smile. My favourite iron maiden song. You girls look like you are having so much fun listening to this.Keep going, it’s great to see 🤘😎
I've seen Iron Maiden live five times, they're otherworldly in ways that cannot be explained unless you see them for yourselves.
You girls should react to Blood Brothers, Rock in Rio 2001. The emotions in that alone are of epic promotions.
Keep up the great work, ladies.
Up the Irons!
I knew it!!! I was waiting for this reaction long time ago.... this performance is simple amazing! Take my like!!! :D
IRON MAIDEN is one of the most successful bands around today, they formed in mid 70s and are still making great music to this very day
Iron Maiden`s Pashendale and the 18 minutes Empire of the clouds are epic too!
Paschendale is a must listen. Nicko is amazing on that song.
Empire of the clouds epic mate 🤘
While listening to this song I got caught somewhere in time, fell into a temporary cosmic rift and was sucked into a parallel universe, only to emerge back on earth for me to realize that, I'm not a number but a free man and I can live my life how I want to!
...somewhere in time...
Je je nice😊
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is based on the poem by the same name by English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Thank you for reacting to what I consider the greatest song of all time! Bless you girls!!!
Four times fifty living men,
(And I heard nor sigh nor groan)
With heavy thump, a lifeless lump,
They dropped down one by one.
Is directly quoted from the second last stanza of the third section of Coleridge's poem the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The song in its entirety very closely follows the poem, a testament to brilliant composition (twice).
Also "Day after day, day after day
We stuck nor breath nor motion
As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean
Water, water everywhere and
All the boards did shrink
Water, water everywhere nor any drop to drink."
Is a direct quote
love those tears at the end!! I knew you guys would love it!!!!
Awesome reaction, I've seen Iron Maiden twice, their live performance is amazing especially the stage setting and lightning.
Great reaction girls. I was at this exact concert. I’ve seen Iron Maiden live 10 times over the years dating back to 1987. The first time was at the same venue that this concert was at. If you ever get the chance to see them you won’t be disappointed.
I had the privilege of seeing Iron Maiden LIVE in concert in Little Rock Arkansas in 1983 at Barton Coliseum. It was life changing!!!
1982 Chicagofest......my 16y/o mind was blown away
One of the best 13 minute songs ever made
Damn right, up the irons.
Definitely, The Red And The Black is another
Seeing you wonderful human beings reacting to and rockin out to this song brings me hope for the future of music! 👍👍 Keep it up ladies! Run to the Hills and the Trooper are both amazing songs!
Iron Maiden are a fantastic band and one of my many favourites!
Nicko kills the drums, and Steve's bass lines are what keep me loving I.M.
Another beautiful reaction girls!! So happy you enjoyed this as well!!
Stay Safe and keep rocking \m/
Derek.
I'm glad you like Iron Maiden. Your Dad has great taste in music. Another well done video. More please.
You two ladies would absolutely love an Iron Maiden show. Its so well done and produced. Every song has its own background
Hey there, my adorable two! 😀 Again you made a great choice, and especially THIS song always sends shivers up and down my spine. A masterpiece of IRON MAIDENs music (okay, the Band ITSELF is a masterpiece!), with great lyrics and melodies givin' you goosebumps (
Thank you so much Mario! Your comment is deeply appreciated! It is nice to hear that we are bringing you happiness!
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and some of the verses are actually from the poem itself.
Hi girls!! I don't know what to say about your reaction, I'm just as blown away as you are, I was there for the first tour of the power slave concert at Madison Square garden in NYC and I was just as blown away as you were very good selection from iron maiden "keep on rockin "🤟
Lots of love, this has been one of my favorite channel recently .
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! We really appreciate it! It means a lot to us!
Young ladies never apologise for showing how much music can move you & trigger your emotions.
Music that can move you that much shows you have a great appreciation for good music & the musical phenomenon that is Iron Maiden, also it is fantastic to see two young ladies loving metal music so much.
I love how this generation has the ways educate themselves in such diverse areas.
Long live the Iron.
Up the Irons \m/
El mejor grupo en directo de la historia!!!!!! Gracias por ponerla en directo, son increíbles. Un saludo desde Mallorca
2001 Rock and Rio fear of the dark. I guarantee you will love it one of their great performances. Also passchendaele I think 2005 live performance you will like it too I think. Fear of the dark is about being afraid of the dark. Passchendaele is a battle that took place in World War 1 in Germany
The musical technique you kept commenting on with the guitars is called "triplets" this is what gives the galloping sound, with the use of minor chord progressions is the creeping up behind you feeling you described. True musical masters at work!
These are not triplets. Triplets are three equal notes in the space of two (you can hear here and there in the solos and in the melodic section after the solos), the galloping sound comes from the succession of one 8th note followed by two 16th notes. They are three notes in the space of two, but they are not equal.
@@TheEternalWayfarer yes your definition is accurate and correct in terms of classical music and in rock music the technical term is fake triplets for the purpose of introducing Mia and Juliet to the basic concept my term was adequate. And to the ear untrained in the minutiae of music theory the sound almost exactly the same, but yes you were correct and I was wrong
Can’t believe I subscribed after watching just one video reaction but this was an amazing video reaction. Loved it and keep it up :-)
If you guys ever need to write a report of a historical figure. Listen and read the lyrics to ALEXANDER THE GREAT. SING YOUR REPORT lol
Been a Iron Maiden fan my whole life thanks to my brother and this is why and I hope you do more of these Iron Maiden videos in the future because there are so many great songs that you have to react to
Bruce is better live now than he was in the 80's.
Bold statement, but I actually agree :)
You guys should read "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner." It's an amazing long poem and story, by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. For me it's the best and greatest poem ever written. IF you decide to read it, the story took place before Ferdinand Magellan circumnavigated the world, since the poem/song says 'to a place no one had ever been' and, the poles are reversed since the first part of their journey takes them south from England to Antarctica yet, they see polar bears at the south pole. Just some necessary basics if you decide to read it. Also, please react to their "Run To The Hills" and listen to the lyrics, too.
You young ladies are watching Heavy Metal Royalty. I cried the first time I seen them live.
Excellent reaction and highlighting key findings about the song ant the band. Thumb up !!!
They did not give him a little solo. Steve Harris is basically the leader of the band, AND, he will be heard throughout all of the songs, *all the time* , He is a MASTER.
Iron Maiden exists because of him, the basist, Steve Harris. Also about 70 % of all Maiden the lyrics, he wrote himself.
Great to see you ladies enjoying one of the greatest live acts ever; and to top it off, Bruce Dickinson the singer is also a pilot and he flies the band to their concerts on their private plane. Have fun and rock and roll!
10:47 pm and still having fun along with you girls..... Juliet is in awe!!!!
These guys, Pantera, Slayer and Ghost are my favorite live shows ever. It was a big bonus to see them with Ghost a few years ago. Maiden is over 2 hours of epic musical musical theater. You fight wars and explore tombs with Bruce and the guys.
Hi girls, I saw them on that tour. Powerslave tour. You girls were born to late. Should have seen them back then. Awesome show! Great reaction!
"I would bust my energy just to keep on rock'n to Iron Maiden" That has got to be one of the best ways to describe Iron Maiden that I've ever heard. AWESOME! I saw this tour in Irvine, CA back on May 31, 2008. It was the best Maiden show I had ever seen and I have seen them 4 times before and now 3 times since. Seeing this song was a definite treat since they had not played it live I believe since the World Slavery tour back in '84-'85. Great reaction ladies. I was your ages when I first heard this song when it first came out and believe me I was just as excited about it as you two are. Your journey into Iron Maiden only gets better. "Up the Irons!" \m/ \m/
The whole concert is fabulous.
I was all set to attend Maiden live in May 2020 at Dubai, when Corona came and destroyed it all. I'm so depressed.
I hope restart the tour next year to dubai and others contries
Yomaraliz Ramirez I truly hope.
The Trooper, Fear of the Dark, Number of the beast and Run to the Hills are a must.
not run please
So many better songs than these.. come on man..
@mksrookies aces high?
dont' blame you at all about "run" good song but it has a bad reference :( For me it would be (Children of the damned, To tame a land, Still life, stopped listening to them when 7th son came out
There really is no other experience like an Iron Maiden show. Not just the concert itself but waiting for the show to start is so much fun because you can feel the energy from the crowd. Everybody's decked out with their Maiden shirts and battle vests and if you wind up talking to somebody they're more than likely gonna be nice. Maiden fans are unlike any other.
I don't think it's possible to go wrong with reacting to Iron Maiden live. Nearly every song that sticks to their setlist is a gem in its own right
You girls are becoming some serious rockers!!!! I love it !!! Oh' and the lead singer Bruce Dickinson also pilots their plane when they tour. He is a very accomplished guy.....
Great reaction girls!
I was about your age in the early / mid 80’s when I saw Iron Maiden live for the first time. I even saw the World Slavery tour and got to witness this epic song live!! I’ve since managed to see Maiden a few more times and even last year they put on an amazing show!! Maiden is all about giving their fans 125% every live show!! Up the irons !!
So happy I found this channel. Excellent reaction.
I've been lucky enough to have seen IRON MAIDEN 6 times in my life, first time I was around 10 and it was the Power Slave tour and my last was a couple of years ago when they did an old school revisit and played nothing but old school song from their first album to Piece of Mind. Best live band I've ever seen and I've seen ALOT of badass bands. Judas Priest, MEGADETH, SLAYER, Korn, the list goes on and on. I'm 47 and have been to over 200 concerts and still go when I can
No concerts this year unfortunately :( ... Was going to see maiden in Stuttgart this year again... but hopefully next year
I've enjoyed so much how you noticed all those typical maiden's signatures.... The bass "dhg-d dgh-d"... Very well done!!
Great song, great perfomance and great reaction ! One of my favourite Maiden songs
You two should've seen Iron Maiden when they played Banc of California Stadium back in September of last year! It was an amazing show!
You remind me of my brother and me when we went to the Iron Maiden concert in Mexico in 1992. Very excited!
It is one of the few memories I have of him.
The song is based on the poem "The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Hey ladies great job on another awesome reaction here's a fun fact about the goat Master when the goat master was very young he discovered Iron Maiden in a Carnival they had posters of ron Maiden and I shot a poster for a dollar with a dart I had no clue they were metal band all I did was saw Eddie it was the somewhere in time song poster he was with his trench coat and hat it was Stranger in a Strange Land and after that somebody told me they was a metal band I went to some friends and that was it my first Maiden album and then the rest is history
Since 1978 i have loved them....you both have the same reaction i have every time i listen to them. Love watching your reaction....Up the Irons.
I love your reactions. Your reactions are really very amazing. Great work. Iron Maiden is one of the best metal bands. Great Legend. This band is Titan in the metal and rock scene. Keep up the great work :-).
This is the one song that will immediately get me to crank up the volume on whatever I'm listening on. That gallop sound of the guitars and drums....it's SO GOOD! Nice reaction, ladies!
Bruce is Dramatic Tenor. His range is (A1)C2-F#5(G5-D6).
In the song "The Number of The Beast" you can definitely hear the real powerful scream on the A5 note. Bruce is the Beast. He sings all his life in a rather high tessitura using belting, which is rather difficult for a Dramatic Tenor, given such rhythmic heavy parts. His voice is really hardy. I would boldly call him the Wagner tenor.
Seeing you girls so giddy is really fun to watch. Great reaction and analysis!
Hi Mia and Juliet,
I loved your reaction at this great song. Little by little both of you are getting pulled into the great iron maiden ocean of songs.
Please react to Dance of Death, a great song with 3 amazing solo's from the three great guitar players, yannick, dave and adrian.
So glad you reacted to this Song...it is my fav, and live it is just magical
🤘👏👏👏😃🤟 ... you guys have the best comments and reactions of all channels... this made my Sunday! Btw... Iron Maiden is one of my favorite bands of all times!
"heavy metal" is a tribute to IRON MAIDEN
Je je 😊
Nothing is as contagious as enthusiasm
Song is based on a poem by Samuel T Coleredge called Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
15:12 - yes, it's a quote from The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, upon which the whole song is based.
"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is based on the poem of the same name by the English Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and the poem is quoted twice. The song was written by the bass player Steve Harris, who writes most of the songs for Iron Maiden and was the founder of the group. Singer Bruce Dickinson is not only a phenomenal singer, but he is also a Type-A personality wrapped up in a Renaissance Man. At the very beginning of the video, there is an airplane flying which is the band's plane called "Ed Force One", and the pilot of that plane is Bruce! He flies the band and their equipment to each gig on Ed Force One (he is a fully licensed commercial airline pilot, and will sometimes work for airlines when the band is not touring). The guitar solos start with Adrian Smith on the white guitar with the headband, then Dave Murray (my favorite Maiden member) on the sunburst tan/brown guitar...these guys were both on the original recording of the song from the album, 'Powerslave', and finally the newer guy, Jannek Gers on the black guitar. Adrian, Dave, and Jannek kinda achieve the impossible...making three guitars work flawlessly when most bands have problems with two. Nicko McBrain on drums is so unsung...truly one of metal's finest drummers. The combination of Harris "galloping" bass lines and McBrain's seemingly frenzied, but metronome-like drumming gives Iron Maiden a solid sound backbone for the guitars of Smith, Murray, and Gers and the astounding vocals of Dickinson! Awesome!!!!
The spoken part was, indeed, from the poem "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" but there are also several lines and one other small stanza taken directly from the poem, but sung.
There’s a song called Remnants of Stars by the band Helion Prime. It’s and epic song. The vocals are lovely especially since it’s not too often to hear a female singer in metal and it’s also not stereotypical metal.
Great to see you get back to Classic Metal. I really think you should check out 'Phantom of the Opera' also by Iron Maiden.
And for a real earworm riff that'll be in your head for days try 'We'll Burn the Sky' by The Scorpions.
Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIA.🎂🎸😀
A truly epic song based on a poem written in 1798. Great reaction ladies. Continue your Iron Maiden journey. =)
You guys are so awesome. Fantastic reaction. I'm subscribing.
An eerie setting... feeling goosebumps
When you pause you should go back a few seconds before restart.....bad idea to cut the scream...
Blood Brothers from Rock In Rio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just one of the most beautiful! You will cry...for sure! Cheers from France!
Yall need to watch FLIGHT 666 in its entirety, IRON MAIDEN are true metal godz. The singer is a pilot and flies the 747 jet called EDFORCE 1
You can never go wrong with Iron Madian one of my top 3 heavy metal bands. 🤘
Maiden greatest band glad y’all enjoyed it!!
For good crowd participation you should check out fear of the dark live at download festival in the uk and warning by skindred at the same festival
What's even more amazing.. after this gig, their singer flew their custom 747 jetliner to their next concert... and then all over the world. Yes.. their singer was also a licensed commercial jet pilot.
