This song is from 1978. The video you are watching is however fairly recent. I saw them in 78 and a few times after that. Insanely good live band. If you think the vocal is good here, trust me, it was a lot better back then.

First time I ever heard this song was live in Detroit (1984) although it was realeased in 1978.I was completely blown away for days afterward they have been my favorite since. The next song they did was Sinner(also a first time hearing that). It was a great show! They have been around 50 years and have a new Album coming in 2021.Anything I could recommend is gold in my opinion so you can never go wrong with Victim of Changes

You're finally back with some classic heavy metal. I love Judas Priest, the power, the passion and the musicianship, bringing that to the table for more than four decades is incredible. I also think that they are bridging the gap between classic rock and heavy metal, not only because of that they're such an important band in today's music. Victim of Changes absolutely has to be the next song by them for you, that's probably their most epic song. But of course they have much more fascinating and great stuff to check out. Diamonds and Rust, You've Got Another Thing Coming, Electric Eye, Desert Plains, The Sentinel, Exciter, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll amongst others.

I have seen them a few times in concert and they sure know how to put on a killer show. I never left disappointed; just with ringing in my ears...lol! Love Rob Halford's vocal range. The guitar solo, is by the incomparable Glenn Tipton (always in something red, his pants usually) He is AWESOME period ! And for some reason has been overlooked as one of the best/greatest all time metal (any genre of music really) guitarist, without question. During this concert footage, shot in 2015 (may be off by one year, before or after), Glenn was 66 or 67 years of age, he's approaching the age of 74 in this year of 2021. He relunctantly, but ultimately and sadly had to retire a few.years ago, not that he was getting on in years, he is still a vibrant man at 73 y.o. His decision as well as, I'm sure his understanding and taking heed to professional advice: i.e. (medical advice, his Doctors, physicians), plus his day to day dealing with the insidious of, well Parkinson's disease, he had developed, while also still playing with his ailment, some believe, for close to 10 years before his ultimate decision, not wanting to give up what he loved so very much, plus not wanting to leave or let go of or letting down Judas Priest, his band mates. He pushed through, while keeping things to himself for the most part, for several years, before telling those guys, in certain terms, but always toughing it out. He's a true inspiration, a hero for the exhibiting of total selflessness, never letting his ailment impede his performance, which in turn would impede on probably one of the greatest bands (in any genre of music) of All time, period Point blank. The singer Rob Halford, who's 70 now and around 63 or 64 years of age performing doing this great, great song in this video footage, has been with JP since 1972 and still sings to this today of a high caliber, maybe not exactly as in his prime, but close, still indistinguishable and, in my book, the greatest of all time. And to think here, in a couple of months Judas Priest will be back out on the road and on tour for their 50th Anniversary (tour), which was suppose to start last year, but was cancelled due to the, you guessed it, the pandemic; in Los Angeles Oct. 6th 2021 @ Microsoft Arena. Just purchased by tickets online the other day, proud to say. I am 60 years old this year and still listen to one of my favorite bands (along side Led Zeppelin and Queensryche in My Top 3 all time music groups, period). Some songs you could give a try "Screaming for Vengeance", "You Gotta Another Thing Comin' ", "Jawbreaker", "Victim of Changes", "Desert Plains", Green Manilishi (with the two-pronged crown)", "Metal God's", "Hell Bent for Leather", "Love Bites", "Turbo Lover", "Dreamer/Deceiver", "Out in the Cold", "Some Heads are Gonna Roll", "Heading Out the Highway", "Ripper", or, I could go on and on, you get the idea, I'm sure. Their discography is vast, spanning 50 years. You'll find it was worth while and time to check out, at least part of this historical, great metal/rock band. Described in one word, Legends. I really Like and Appreciate your (both you young ladies) channel. You and Jamal aka jemel are my two favorite RUclips reaction channels. Keep up the good work. Jim d.

      @electricwizard3000 3 года назад

P.P.S. I see not many people replied to your request for a lyrical analysis, so here's mine: the protagonist has given himself paralysis due to the over-use of recreational chemicals - he is aware of everything, but unable to communicate. Somehow he has communication with others in his situation - or is it all in his mind?
Some also say this is Rob Halford's thinly-veiled attempt to communicate that he is gay, but while paralyzed with guilt and shame. He came out of the closet decades after this song was recorded on the album Stained Class [my favorite JP album].

  • @Cool7Songs
    @Cool7Songs 3 года назад +4

    He had enough
    He couldn't take anymore
He found a place in his mind
    And slammed the door
    No matter how they tried
    They couldn't understand
    They washed and dressed him
    Fed him by hand
So the beginning tells you what happened to this person - it's like very depressed, couldn't take it - so they retreat into their own mind and their own thoughts where they feel safer. Speaking with 'my own kind' suggests insanity.
Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
I'm free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
    I'll decide not you
    Withdrawn he sat there
    Staring into space
    No sign of life
    Would flicker on his face
    Until one day he smiled
It seemed as though with pride
    The wind kissed him goodbye
    And then he died
Sadly, in this state, he eventually dies.
Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in
    Yeah I will start again
It can take forever, and ever whatever, whenever, but I'll still win
His parting thoughts are departure, and stubborn rebellion against a 'life not worth living in'.
    How many like him
    Are there still
    Who to us all
Seem to have lost the will
    They lie in thousands
    Blank and lost
Is nothing worth this bitter cost
Here, Judas Priest asks us - the listeners - how many like him are there still? And - unsaid - should we do something about it? Regardless of cost, shouldn't we be reaching to pull these people back into life - show them that life is worth living?

This particular performance was recorded in 2012 or 2013, I believe it was the latter, it's off of the Epitaph DVD, so called because they had intended for it to be the last tour and that they would retire, at least from touring, and possibly from music altogether, but they were so well received that they decided to make another album, it was said that because of the recruitment of Richie Faulkner, who replaced KK Downing who had left the band because of a falling out because of some kind of discord over the musical direction of the band, Richie, it was said had breathed new life into the band, and given them heightened enthusiasm for making new music, I may have some details a bit off, but that is basically the facts, anyway it would be a very good idea to acquire the Epitaph DVD, or get it on download...✌🖤

Thanks for playing this song because it’s one of Judas priest’s songs whose title I always knew but never listened to the song before and I’ve always wanted to hear it.Now that I have,I can say I really love it.As for the meaning,I can’t really help you because I couldn’t really understand many of the lyrics, but I’ll try to see if I can find a lyric video and,if I do,I’ll come back on here and give you my opinion. So long for now.I found a lyric video and listened to it.Here’s what I get out of it.you’re not gonna like it.This is serious stuff. Here we go:from what I can dredge up-not saying this is right or wrong-it seems to concern itself with the idea of someone who wants to take his own life, and towards the end mentions in its own way that many struggle with this idea.Upsetting,I know, but sometimes life is upsetting.Just don’t let anything get you down.

Ah yes, Stained Glass (1979) deep in the birth of Heavy Metal right after Hellbent for Leather (1978) then the heaviest of heavy Metal British Steel (1980), Beyond the Realm of Death was a powerful song, so powerful Judas Priest ended up in court because many depressed dudes were taking their lives because they assumed this song was calling out to them to commit suicide. One family in Arizona I believe went all the way to blame Rob Halford's vocals and the lyrics of how he sang the song, the whole thing was a crying shame it was happening, when the song was clearly speaking about a Paraplegic. Wow, you caught on very well to what the song was about I am very impressed with you two sweet little darlings, tu papa debe de estar muy
    orgulloso de ustedes

So if you ladies listen to more of their music, you will find that as a band, they really feed well off of each other. Mostly Glen, KK, and Rob. The music really tells a story, plus it hits hard when it seems like it might not. They really are the inventors of heavy In this video, they have Richie Faulkner in place of KK, so try to listen to the one with KK downing and you'll understand. This song is from 1978, and this concert was in 2011/2012.
