He often talked about Holdsworth in his workshops and seminars at Musicians Institute, and sometimes on breaks at his club shows. Also Paul Gilbert. And yes he was very familiar with the likes of McLaughlin, DiMeola, Coryell, Metheny.
Ohmura and Boh have a RUclips channel together that is just hilarious and fun. They will have guest on their show and many times Hideki will join them. They dress up in cosplay or face paint and just have a good time. They are just good men. 🤘🦊🤘
Mikio was a real mentor to Ohmura, so his feelings are so intense. I cry everytime i listen to this song. You're having a great journey into the Foxhole. Thank you for your reactions
Line up MV Takayoshi Ohmura - guitar ISAO - guitar (8-string monster) Aoyama Hideki - drums Yuya Maeta - drums IKUO - bass? BOH - bass all Kami's I'm not sure about the vocals, I've seen them but the names?
Mikio Fujioka is a former music school instructor who has nurtured many guitarists in the popular song world. Omura was a student and was also a member of Marty Friedman's band. The members of the Kami Band gather, and these activities are charity for Fujioka's wife and two young girls. In addition, I don't know the two vocalists.
That other guitarist is ISAO, 8 string guitarist who is ALSO a Kami band member, and played Ohmura's part in the Babymetal Yokohama Arena performance of 2015. The "other" artists are all former friends, students, and have also played as Kami band members at one time or another. All together they made a tribute band for Mikio called MLG Avengers. "MLG" stands for "My Little God", which was Mikio's nickname, as he was the smallest Kami band member. From their website: My Little God, a support project for the bereaved family of guitarist Mikio Fujioka, who passed away suddenly in January 2018, will release the single "MLG" by MLG AVENGERS, a group of artists associated with Fujioka, on April 26. The My Little God (MLG) project has released live events and DVDs, and this single is based on the instrumental "The Hill Of Wisteria" by Takayoshi Omura, one of the core members of the project. Named as a tribute to Fujioka, the song was arranged with added vocals and reborn as "nu The Hill Of Wisteria" by eight musicians from the members involved in the project, and is a magnificent song of over 7 minutes. The DVD contains a music video and a documentary film of "nu The Hill Of Wisteria," as well as a previously unreleased track. The DVD will include the music video for "nu The Hill Of Wisteria," a documentary film, and a live performance of Mikio Fujioka's solo project, which has remained unreleased and uncensored. MLG's first show in three years is scheduled for April 8 (Sat) at Shinjuku ReNY, featuring C4, Gacharic Spin, Spark7, and Omura Band. A super-pre-sale of "MLG" will also be held on that day. Fans are encouraged to check it out
Nicely Done. You can tell they wanted to perform that the best they could in tribute to him. Still hurts to watch all these years later. If memory serves correctly one of the drummer's brother died that same year. The Kamiband went through some stuff together. I don't know if the ladies of Babymetal were at any of those shows But I like to think they were there. I do know they were at the funeral. The Kamiband got to showcase how good they are at these shows. I hope they continue to do these shows. You can check out some more of their stuff by looking up Kariband. The Kariband music is a metal jazz fusion of music. For me it explains a lot about their approach to music. RIP Mikio
If you want to hear more of Takeyoshi Ohmura try his solo song: "Takayoshi Ohmura(大村孝佳) / THE CATACLYSM (Official Music Video)" I think one of the singers in the last video is from Galneryus another great Japanese metal band. They have one of the best guitar players named "Syu". One great song is: "GALNERYUS - Angel Of Salvation (Live Shibuya Kokaido, Tokyo 2014) 1080P" And if you would like another performance with two drummers: Band name "Gacharic Spin": 【Live】Gacharic Spin「TAMASHII」2019 You could make it a double feature, because they have a version played on toy instruments: "おもちゃの楽器でガチでバンド演奏してみた" Sorry I can't give direct links because my comments will be deleted.
Ohmura keeps a cigarette behind the strings on the headstock of that guitar so is old friend can come anytime he likes and play his old guitar and have a smoke, there is also a letter from Mikio's daughter tucked in the springs at the back of the guitar
Also, before anyone comments on it, he already knows that he screwed up by switching Ohmura and Hideki's names, he discovered it on stream before releasing the video lol.
Shade, don't be apologizing for emotions. Im almost as new a fan as you are. The wondrous talent the was and is Mikio, is missed and praised. I was watching a BBM video when I read of his passing. It hit my heart ..Thank you😥
Here is another version of the song it's the only time it was performed at a Babymetal concert at Yokohama arena 2015 it was performed at both the Yokohama shows in 2015 but this is the only version that still exist today with Mikio Fujioka BOH and KAMI BAND guitarist ISAO instead of Takayoshi Ohmura ruclips.net/video/ZyGxlYANQ2M/видео.htmlsi=uRTLFM1hETG0fPeF
I discovered BABYMETAL the Year he died. Little did i know. But as i dived deeper in the Foxhole and Sakura Gakuin i learned so much more about BABYMETAL, the Band behind them and how important they where for each other. We adore the Girls but also love the Kamis and his Death was very hard to any Fan, i cant imagine how hard hitting it was for all that where close to him. But beside all the Sadness, lets celebrate his amazing Talent, Influence and his unforgetable Smile. He will not be forgotten! rest in Peace Ko-Gami. 🦊♥🎸🎸
This is not babymetal or kami band but this is a live where Ohmura sings Phantom of the opera and holy sh*t his voice is impressive ruclips.net/video/rBmxbKa0hVo/видео.htmlsi=LYg3JlocRSusHyIj i'm going to link it here if you want to check it out i was suprised!
It blows my mind that he was born in 1981. I was born in 1966 and I'm somehow still here. He passed away before I knew of Baby Metal. I learned of Baby Metal, as I did all amazing Japanese music through Band-Maid.
Thank you for uploading Fujioka-san's video on such a special day... What a great reaction! I also got very emotional and couldn't stop crying. That's why I want you to watch the old BABYMETAL videos too. Of course the current Kami Band is great, but BABYMETAL's live performances with the Kami Band before 2018 are also great and emotional! In particular, I can't watch NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW by LEGEND-S without crying, because Yui-chan was absent on the day... please.
Thank you for your warm receptive experience to this heartfelt Tribute to Mikio. Mine was exactly like yours. I'm 75 and am a big fan of Baby Metal. The first time I saw a Baby Metal video down the fox hole. I noticed Mikio right away smiling away and sticking out his tounge. The first time I heard " Shining Star " I felt as though It was about him, and also "The One" Stairway to, and the two goddesses turn into stars, except the third star could be the baby metal who had to leave because of her health.
Nice you posted on Mikio's B Day (01/19).. After Mikio's passing, Takayoshi Ohmura was given Mikio's personal signature ESP Burgundy Mist models (one 6 and two 7 strings - *in the first video was before ESP issued them) along with other equipment such as his Kemper Profiler Head Unit (Ohmura has the same ones but uses Mikio's). Bassist Boh was given Mikio's Wah Petal (Which is still on his board).. Before Ohmura would not use a whammy bar , but said that he will learn for Mikio. (Although the 6 string, he did but in a fixed bridge). You'll see in the last version he uses it in his part of the solo @ 20:23 of this video. One thing to know is that Ohmura has Multiple Signature ESP Model of his own, But he mostly chooses to use Mikio's until this day. As these guys no longer play for Babymetal (last Jan 2023), Ohmura has been playing for Taiwanese singer aMEI and was using Mikio's Guitars but since many of the shows are outside of Japan, he decided to buy a Mikio Model to use overseas, so not to worry about the originals getting damage or being lost.... All these guys were close friends to Mikio (not just in Babymetal) ... First video Mikio and Drummer Hideki and Mikio were guest at Ohmura's solo show. Hideki was using Yuya's drum kit (who was the main drummer at that show) .. Singer Kuze (2nd Vocalist) was the singer at that show back then too.
I really wish they would bring back the eastern Kamis back even if its just for some Shows. They where such a important Part of the Success of BABYMETAL it would be nice to let them share the Stage together once more.
The guy you thought was Hideki is Takayoshi Ohmura. (Hideki is the drummer). Interesting you admired his hair…he often cuts it off and donates it to wig manufacturers who make wigs for sick kids. He also - unbidden- donated $10,000 to a U.S. BABYMETAL fan who had cancer was struggling to meet his medical bills. Remarkable man .
I miss the figure of Mikio Fujioka... because behind the success of the Baby Metal Kami Band, especially the Eastern Kami Band, there is a very solid foundation... several times I have seen the tribute video for Mikio, it always touches my heart... I hope the legend will calm down and watch Baby's journey Metal up there...🦊🦊🦊
Happy Birthday to our Little God, shine forever and ever beloved Mikio. You hadn't started the video yet and I couldn't hold back my tears. Thank you for this sincere reaction Kitsune. May The Fox God be white you! 🤟🦊🇯🇵🎸✨️
I explained the running order of the last version of the song on your second reaction to Rondo of Nightmare with your mate: Solo 1: Mikio Fujioka on guitar (playback) Solo 2: Takayoshi Ohmura on guitar Solo 3: ISAO on guitar (another guitarist in the kami band) Solo 4: BOH on bass Solo 5: Shoyo on bass (from Takayoshi Ohmura's solo band and Jupiter etc) Solo 6 & Solo 7: dual drum solos with both of BABYMETAL's drummers.. Hideki Aoyama and Yuya Maeta The "classic lineup" of the kami band became Mikio Fujioka (guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (guitar), BOH (bass), Hideki Aoyama (drums) - but the kami band as a whole had more members like Leda Cygnus who played in the Rondo of Nightmare intro and ISAO who plays a solo in this 2024 version of the song. Likewise Yuya Maeta is another BABYMETAL drummer The kami band was formed from elite level session player musicians and so not every member was available for every tour and they had some redundancy there so they could bring in another member if they needed to In the 2018 tours after Mikio had passed away the lineup tended to be Takayoshi (guitar), ISAO (guitar), BOH (bass) and Hideki (drums) - so just swapping out Mikio for ISAO. However Takayoshi switched across to stage right (left side from audience perspective) alongside BOH, where Mikio was before.. and played Mikio's guitar there For names, you get Takayoshi Ohmura and Hideki Aoyama mixed up in this video :) But it's okay, we know you're new to the band For those of us who saw Mikio Fujioka play live, I don't think any of us left this video with a dry face 🦊
Man, I always get choked up watching the 2nd video. And what an amazingly emotional song already. RIP Mikio 😢, I know he's jammin' out up in heaven! 🤘🦊
Please check this version of the KAMI BAND The Hill of wisteria One of only two times that it was played at a Babymetal concert amuse didn't even include it on the DVD Blu-ray set for the Yokohama arena shows anyway please give this version of look also this is not pro shot this is fan cam but is excellent quality The view is One of the large monitors on the side of the stage but pans to the rest of the arena were you see the three foxes and the pack arena itself ruclips.net/video/ZyGxlYANQ2M/видео.htmlsi=gjZ4gIHqB1KlsLO-
Amazing one!!! The other members (except the vocalist) in the last version was also part of Kami Band rotational pool at one point in time. "Wherever we are we'll be with you," "We'll never forget shining starlight," "Wherever you are, live in my heart," "We'll never forget shooting star," RIP Mikio. Keep on diving!!! 🦊🦊🦊
Saying B'z is as famous as BABYMETAL in Japan is the understatement of the century. B'z are like thousand times bigger than BABYMETAL is:D. If I recall correctly B'z have the record for the most records sold in Japan of all time:D. Or if not the most records sold I am sure they are in the top 5 at the very least. Meanwhile BABYMETAL unfortunately isn't even close to the top 100
I saw Ohmura doing hills of wisteria twice last year first time in September with Hana from gacharic spin on drums and lisa x on guitar the 2nd time was at Ohmuras Birthday on the 26 December when they performed Hills with Hana on drums and Tomozo from Gacharic spin on guitar both where the instrumental versions and amazing
You missed the only performance of this song as the actual Kami band in BABYMETAL. Babymetal Live at Yokohama Arena 2015 ruclips.net/video/1mLCiD5ssK8/видео.htmlsi=QLZpjVeAAiAKY-6R
This Song was originally called “The Gathering of Metal Warriors” but was changed as a tribute to the late guitarist Fujioka Mikio as his last name in Japanese means 藤(Fuji) = Wisteria and 岡(Oka) = Hill. RIP Ko-Gami. •The Hill Of Wisteria is a somber song by Takayoshi Ohmura with a tempo of 186 BPM. It can also be used half-time at 93 BPM. The track runs 4 minutes and 16 seconds long with a D key and a major mode. It has high energy and is not very danceable with a time signature of 4 beats per bar. •Kami Band Lineup: Mikio Fujioka - 7 String ESP II Guitar. Takayoshi Ohmura - 7 String Snapper 7 Twinkle Pink Guitar. BOH - 6 String Atelier Beta Z Red Bass. Hideki Aoyama - Sonor Drums.
Mikio was famous in the west for the Kami Band. In Japan, he's famous as a guitar educator. He helped mentored an entire generation of guitarists. Not just rock or metal, but jazz and classical as well. One reason there was so much grief at his passing.
Mikio was out stargazing with his daughters when he fell from the platform they were on. He died from the injuries. The tributes were to raise money for his family.
Few things: - If i remember correctly from what some japanese folks said in other reactions, Ohmura does this show every year, and gives the money collected from it to Mikio's widow, and they always helped them. Iirc she has a small shop - this song was actually performed by the Kami band 6 times in 2015, as an instrumental intro to the song Akatsuki. Last time was at the first night of the Yokohama show in 2015. Sadly we do not have a proshot for it, but only some fancams. We got a proshot of the second night, where instead we had the Rondo of Nightmare intro, with a sick Mikio performance
Don't downplay yourself. We all see how much heart you have in the music and the reactions you play for us and especially with BayMetal and the Kami band. Sure, you haven't been here as long as most but.... You are part of the One. We all see how much connection you have and you're admired for that. This was very emotional but I know one thing for sure, he always smiled and that was always memorable. We all know he's still got that smile happening for all of us. 💜🤘Mikio🤘💜
I appreciate that 🤘I just had an unusually unfortunate 2023-2024 when it comes to personally loss. So I know the emotions I was expressing had to draw from that as well.
The Babymetal story has many facets and for such a oiled machine where a lot of things happen behind the scenes, it still are very human stories. About how long their careers are and thus how they got to that point, etc. I've seen Babymetal perform up close in 2018, it was a strange year. It wasn't just Yuimetal that was missing. It took longer to become fun, the second day (it was 2 shows in the same venue where I went) was much much better from a fun perspective. But having a moment of realization at the start of the first day also felt like it was fitting some how.
Can you react to mari hamada - mangata live, she's known the heavy metal queen from japan, BOH and isao (the 8 string guitars) is also in this live version ruclips.net/video/6xw6h57kq2k/видео.htmlsi=udi3FMOlZVB0nH2i
Just some notes. Most of the guys in the vid are/were members of the Kami band. The two singers, and extra bass player are all friends who played with Mikio/Ohmura over the years. The only person missing from the Kami band is Leda Cygnus. However he has played on some of the earlier versions of this song in years past. Guitar notes...The guitar used by Ohmura has a few special Mikio related features. If you look inside the rear battery cover you will find a special letter. It was written by one of his daughters. And here is a translated copy. " To daddy: I feel sad you are about to go abroad but I'm rooting for you! I'm going to do my best too! I'm rooting for you from the bottom of my heart. Keep doing good work! [Her name deleted]" The letter was written shortly before the Wembley show.
Such a powerful song 😢

You can definitely hear the Holdsworth influence. Holdsworth has been a favorite of mine for decades. Mikio has joined him there.
It's really a great channel, very funny, funny games, great guests
May I ask for the name of channel? Thank you

I appreciate doing my request, thank you so much. Mikio is greatly missed by everyone .
Happy Birthday Fujioka-san !
YEA !
Mikio was a real mentor to Ohmura, so his feelings are so intense. I cry everytime i listen to this song.
You're having a great journey into the Foxhole. Thank you for your reactions
Line up MV
Takayoshi Ohmura - guitar
ISAO - guitar (8-string monster)
Aoyama Hideki - drums
Yuya Maeta - drums
IKUO - bass?
BOH - bass
all Kami's
I'm not sure about the vocals, I've seen them but the names?
Other bassist was SHOYO. Vocalist was TOKI from the band C4. And they also have Atsushi Kuze from the band Jupiter on vocals.
@@AldoGuerraALDO-METAL yes Jupiter, that's why it looked familiar to me, I don't know C4 🫢, was SHOYO a Kami? 😯 Thanks for the info 🫡
C4 and Taka is there! Thanks Vocal sounds like Billy Idol, I like it
RIP Mikio. I came along after he was gone but, that doesn't stop my eyes from getting sweaty every time I see this.
Nice reaction! Hideki is the drummer. The other guitarist with Mikio in the first video is Takayoshi Ohmura.
From their website:
My Little God, a support project for the bereaved family of guitarist Mikio Fujioka, who passed away suddenly in January 2018, will release the single "MLG" by MLG AVENGERS, a group of artists associated with Fujioka, on April 26.
Fans are encouraged to check it out
Pink guitar is Takayoshi Ohmura or as he calls his guitar Pink Chan hideki is the drummer
RIP Mikio
First!!! This song is a fitting tribute for Mikio, an absolute LEGEND. He is with the kami now; may his soul rest in peace.
Thank you!!! Never seen that "dual band" tribute... So freaking good. I was crying this entire video, man...
Thank you, friend! Just thank you! And great respect for this. No shame of tears. Our tears are with you. Thank you!
If you want to hear more of Takeyoshi Ohmura try his solo song:
"Takayoshi Ohmura(大村孝佳) / THE CATACLYSM (Official Music Video)"
I think one of the singers in the last video is from Galneryus another great Japanese metal band. They have one of the best guitar players named "Syu". One great song is:
"GALNERYUS - Angel Of Salvation (Live Shibuya Kokaido, Tokyo 2014) 1080P"
And if you would like another performance with two drummers:
Band name "Gacharic Spin": 【Live】Gacharic Spin「TAMASHII」2019
You could make it a double feature, because they have a version played on toy instruments:
"おもちゃの楽器でガチでバンド演奏してみた"
Sorry I can't give direct links because my comments will be deleted.
RIP Mikio 'The Little God' Fujioka-sama. 🦊😢🤘🎸🦊
Ohmura keeps a cigarette behind the strings on the headstock of that guitar so is old friend can come anytime he likes and play his old guitar and have a smoke, there is also a letter from Mikio's daughter tucked in the springs at the back of the guitar
Beautiful words, thanks for the video!
I was lucky to see Mikio play with Babymetal. Rest in Peace Mikio.
Thank you so much for this. R.I.P. "The Little God" Mikio Fujioka 🙏❤🤘🦊🤘

This is not babymetal or kami band but this is a live where Ohmura sings Phantom of the opera and holy sh*t his voice is impressive

i'm going to link it here if you want to check it out i was suprised!
All of them are kami band members except for the singers
Mikio‘s surname ”Fujioka“ translates to ”The hill of wisteria“ in English.
It blows my mind that he was born in 1981. I was born in 1966 and I'm somehow still here. He passed away before I knew of Baby Metal. I learned of Baby Metal, as I did all amazing Japanese music through Band-Maid.
ありがとうございます。
Thank you for uploading Fujioka-san's video on such a special day... What a great reaction! I also got very emotional and couldn't stop crying. That's why I want you to watch the old BABYMETAL videos too. Of course the current Kami Band is great, but BABYMETAL's live performances with the Kami Band before 2018 are also great and emotional! In particular, I can't watch NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW by LEGEND-S without crying, because Yui-chan was absent on the day... please.
Hideki is the drummer 😁
Thanks for remembering Mikio R.I.P. 😌
This song always produces so much snot. So now when are you going to have Cody over to watch these? XD
I cry everytime on this song
I explained the running order of the last version of the song on your second reaction to Rondo of Nightmare with your mate:
Solo 1: Mikio Fujioka on guitar (playback)
Solo 2: Takayoshi Ohmura on guitar
Solo 3: ISAO on guitar (another guitarist in the kami band)
Solo 4: BOH on bass
Solo 5: Shoyo on bass (from Takayoshi Ohmura's solo band and Jupiter etc)
Solo 6 & Solo 7: dual drum solos with both of BABYMETAL's drummers.. Hideki Aoyama and Yuya Maeta
The "classic lineup" of the kami band became Mikio Fujioka (guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (guitar), BOH (bass), Hideki Aoyama (drums) - but the kami band as a whole had more members like Leda Cygnus who played in the Rondo of Nightmare intro and ISAO who plays a solo in this 2024 version of the song. Likewise Yuya Maeta is another BABYMETAL drummer
The kami band was formed from elite level session player musicians and so not every member was available for every tour and they had some redundancy there so they could bring in another member if they needed to
In the 2018 tours after Mikio had passed away the lineup tended to be Takayoshi (guitar), ISAO (guitar), BOH (bass) and Hideki (drums) - so just swapping out Mikio for ISAO. However Takayoshi switched across to stage right (left side from audience perspective) alongside BOH, where Mikio was before.. and played Mikio's guitar there
For names, you get Takayoshi Ohmura and Hideki Aoyama mixed up in this video :) But it's okay, we know you're new to the band
For those of us who saw Mikio Fujioka play live, I don't think any of us left this video with a dry face 🦊
Man, I always get choked up watching the 2nd video. And what an amazingly emotional song already.
RIP Mikio 😢, I know he's jammin' out up in heaven! 🤘🦊
Thanks for posting this reaction today. Rest in peace, Fujioka-sama. 🖤

Thank you for the great reactions.
I'm sure all BABYMETAL fans appreciate your pure tears.

Amazing one!!!
The other members (except the vocalist) in the last version was also part of Kami Band rotational pool at one point in time.

"We'll never forget shining starlight,"
"Wherever you are, live in my heart,"
"We'll never forget shooting star,"

Hideki Aoyama's drums can also be heard in this song. B'z is as famous as babymetal in Japan.

Rest in peace, Ko-gami.

This performance had Mikio and ISAO on guitars, not Takayoshi.
The MLG Avengers performed today. Takayoshi has shared photos on his X.
•Kami Band Lineup:
Mikio Fujioka - 7 String ESP II Guitar.
Takayoshi Ohmura - 7 String Snapper 7 Twinkle Pink Guitar.
BOH - 6 String Atelier Beta Z Red Bass.
Hideki Aoyama - Sonor Drums.
Thanks for reaction! I didn't see MV before, it was awesome! Mikio's guitar has it uniqueness to it, like those squealing sounds, i like it a lot ❤🔥
Mikio was famous in the west for the Kami Band. In Japan, he's famous as a guitar educator. He helped mentored an entire generation of guitarists. Not just rock or metal, but jazz and classical as well. One reason there was so much grief at his passing.
We miss your smile mikio😭😭

Mikio was out stargazing with his daughters when he fell from the platform they were on. He died from the injuries.

A gentle, kind and giving man. A great loss to the band, The One, and the industry. I think I got something in my eye… 😢
今でも彼が居ない悔しさと虚しさが消えない。ギタリスト藤岡幹大を失ったことは少なくとも日本の音楽業界の損失である。
Few things:
- If i remember correctly from what some japanese folks said in other reactions, Ohmura does this show every year, and gives the money collected from it to Mikio's widow, and they always helped them. Iirc she has a small shop
- this song was actually performed by the Kami band 6 times in 2015, as an instrumental intro to the song Akatsuki.

Although BOH was not ever a student of Mikio's, BOH often referred to him as Mikio-sensei in interviews.😊
Can you react to mari hamada - mangata live, she's known the heavy metal queen from japan, BOH and isao (the 8 string guitars) is also in this live version

" To daddy:
I feel sad you are about to go abroad but I'm rooting for you!
I'm going to do my best too!
I'm rooting for you from the bottom of my heart. Keep doing good work!
[Her name deleted]" The letter was written shortly before the Wembley show.
