Allow me to elucidate why I believe your version of Mer y Seat would be incredibke- your version of Hear Shaped Box- which everyone should go listen to- is so unbelievably good it blew my mind. If you can do that with Heart Shaped Box you can do unbelievable things with Mercy Seat
Do "The Best Is Yet To Come" from Metal Gear Solid 1. The song is sung in Irish and I would love to see you doing it.

Being a US Marine and having friends and family in that as well as US Navy. We all in my group of people love listening to the shanties and drink a pint while listening with this on it felt humbling to me and others I will have to say just listening it gave us the feeling we had when we were still active in the military. I will have to say this is what I want played when I go to see St. PETER. BRAVO you brought tears and warm feelings to a bunch of Marines and Navy here.
I am listening to this a year out, real close to the anniversary of the end of my last deployment. Nailed it.

This is absolutely fantastic, Colm. you really hit the feel of a traditional Irish song. The driving beat, fiddle fills, multi part harmonies, the works. And I especially appreciate how each part has their own outfit. I look forward for to the next original.

I miss being out to sea in the Navy and occasionally I find myself going back to torturing myself with shanties and folk music. This is arguably one of the best ones I've found. (And its sung in my key 😁)
The ending called to mind the memorial service I went to for my great uncle in law (my husband’s uncle’s dad), who was a firefighter. They do something called the last call, or the last alarm, where they ring a bell (the count varies, his was three sets of three) to signal that his watch is done. It is an EXTREMELY emotional thing to be a part of. Very well done, Colm.
I'm really sad that I'm only finding this original just today (I hadn't know you'd ever done an original). I haven't listened to nearly all your work yet, so I hope to discover more in the future. It really is beautiful. It's amazing how you manage to imbue so much life and color into songs, whether they're covers or this original. Every time I hear this song I cry. The song came on during my drive to my parents house the day my dad came home on hospice, and the chorus stuck. My family and I were all together, for worse or better, as my father was bound for warmer weather. He passed quickly and peacefully that night and was even able to flash a smile when he recognized me during a lucid moment. This song has, and continues to help me process my grief. Thank you for this gift Colm, from the bottom of my heart it has come to mean a lot and will forever be one of the songs in the soundtrack to my life.

I can’t ever pick out what exactly it is but every time I come back to this song, it’s always something new or old I’ve felt about that just makes me..happy and belonging. It’s a good song to get lost in singing along to.

I wish I could write songs this well! I've been practicing and came up with one called, "My First and Final Glass," about an old sailor who lost his comrades long ago and knows his time is coming to an end as well so honors his fallen friends by recounting his life and taking his first and only drink.
It's just a shame I can't sing or play any instruments despite years of trying, but maybe I can find someone to do that for me. Anyway, this song is a beautiful piece, and you should be proud of everything you've accomplished and will go on to do. I will always enjoy every second of your songs.
