I like the subtle effect of your eyes being hidden. Any time a character does this in movies or books, it always adds an extra layer of mystery to the scene. Maybe the real reason behind this is simply because you don't want your face fully out there, but I also love all the comments that talk about the possible lore behind hiding your eyes being hidden. Keep up the awesome work.

Y'all! This song is so good that I had it playing in a tavern in my D&D campaign. I brought this song to life and now "The Shadow" is something my players are off to try to tame! They thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing your gift with us in the world!
The Shadow an old wives' tale used to scare children away from a life at sea, but those who were urged onward by these stories know differently The Shadow is real. Some say she never had a crew, some say the crew became the ship. All say that the shadow is not something of this world. There have been new tales from crews saying they've seen The Shadow with skeletons hanging from her rigging and a man at the helm with no eyes. I will have to see it for myself before I believe these tales.
Other tales speak of the Spanish armada hunting down a stolen galleon, the mutinous captain who hung, from his riggings, the ones who dared question his orders. Rumor's say his First Mate was the first strung up. Six ships took turns, broadsiding the blood stained hull until she sunk, the captain grinning, hands still on the helm as the fires melted his eyes.
It’s not an old wives’ tale. Those friends of yours saw the crew I used to be a part of. The only reason I survived was because I’m a merfolk and was able to swim away.
As an author currently working on a Pirate themed historical fiction story, this song is perfect motivation. I've been listening to this on repeat as I write and it's fabulous. The dark end fits wholly with the undertones of my story and helps keep me focused. Thank you so very much for the perfect beat to fuel my muse!
The feeling of listening to this is unexplainable. I couldn't concentrate on the lyrics but at the same time I was seeing all the visuals in my minds eye?? It was so intense and insane, I fear I'll never be able to fully grasp the lyrics and it's contents because I'll just be daydreaming about being a pirate but also about being "the one the sailors call the shadow". I love that "the one the sailors call the shadow" is such an abstract concept, like is she a witch? Why is she where she is and no one can come close to her helm? Why is she alone and does what she does to the sailors who try to tame her? WHAT IS HER STORY I NEED TO KNOW!!!
I've been dissecting these lyrics and i think the one the sailors call the shadow is a ship...the legend is about a ship filled with gold without a captain and crew....
@@otakubookworm2475 from what I understood "no crew, nor captain's guiding hand can tame the one the sailors call the shadow" means that there has never been a crew or captain that has been able to tame and capture the one the sailors call the shadow! @destinyconceicao4082 I'm thinking along the lines of monster house style, the movie where the dudes wife basically haunted and became the house, the Shadow sounds to me like a spirit which with everyone coming at her in an attempt to take her for their own, perhaps a gentler touch is in order to tame the rage so to speak

From the moment they embark on their journey with good spirits, to the moment they reach the shadow, to the moment the captain is cursed to guide the shadow, I felt the whole thing and I love it! We need a music video pls!
This song gives me the urge to write a story about pirates going on a journey they know will only lead to their ends, but they all have the determination to go on just to uncover the legend.
Lore seems like to me that the captain and his crew searched hard for "The Shadow" which seems to be a ship, perhaps with its own crew and/or rumors of wealth on board, and they succeed, but as the captain attempts to take the helm as said in the song (to steer the ship and take command of it) the ship itself came alive, strung up his crew infront of him and took his eyes, making him the captain of the ship. Now he seems to be warning others that come to basically attempt to do what he did, as he seems basically enslaved to be captain of the ship for potentially eternity based on how the curse works. Honestly, I love this song and can't wait until the TV series he said is going to be made!
I've been obsessed with this since it came out. I visualized an entire music video in my head the first time I heard the full song. Thank you for this masterpiece!
To think this is his first song and it came out 6 months ago and he's get 101k subs already just shows how much people like his songs and how much potential he has in the future
No joke! I first heard it at a pirate themed mystery dinner theater and had to look it up. I was legit shocked this was his first song, and an original, and he only had a few videos. I pegged it as a seasoned singer singing a folk song so old its author is lost to time. Hoping he goes far!
I love the change in tone from the first "none can tame the one the sailors call the shadow" the first one had a bit of cockiness like he didn't believe it was true to the last one sounding like a warning
This Sea Shanty is beautifully done, especially as you sang it over a candle. Gave it the eerie vibe that it deserves especially given the lyrics near the end about how the rigging came alive
This shanty is something else in absolutely the best way possible. I have been playing it on repeat while I sit here making jewelry and it gives me the best chills.
I found the first part on tiktok and waited eversince for a whole version. I'm really happy to finally know how the story ends, and the song is just fire 🔥🔥🔥 I love it 💙💜💙💜
I love how the video is just him sitting in front of a candle but the lyrics describe the journey so well you can clearly imagine the storm, the tides, and at the eye of it, the Shadow herself.
This song has buried itself into my brain andI've been playing it all day since Spotify recommended it. Please keep making shanties, as this is one hell of a first effort.
I’ve been listening to this on repeat. I need an album with more of these stories ❤ Purchased the song and am now sharing this video as much as possible!
As the sun began to set upon the horizon, a few sailors had set foot in a tavern, looking for an old Captain. One of the lads stepped up the the bar, leaning over the counter towards the bartender. "Ah, what can i get ye lads?" The bartender asked. The one leaning over the counter whispered. "We're looking for the Captain of the Shadow." Said he. The bartender dropped the glass he was polishing. "Eh, over there, lads. The old sailor there, in the corner. But be wary, the man's loose in the noggin." The bartender warned. The sailors walked over to the dimly lit corner table, and had a seat in front of the old man. "Tell us about the Shadow." One of the men said. "Where do we find her?" [20 likes for part 2!]

I love this so much. I've been listening to it on repeat ever since I discovered it. Your voice is amazing and i love how dark it gets because they didn't listen to the warnings
This is absolutely amazing. I can't even put it into words. My favourite part is I know the flat cap is your thing, but it fits this song so well because it feels like you were actually blind the whole time and it was foreshadowing. Especially as you say about being blinded you sort ot snap your head around a few times like searching in the dark as if blind. Intended or not, such an incredible song.
[LYRICS] I set upon the sea To search for phantom sails From tails my mum told me A ghostly galleon filled with gold She sails alone No crew, nor captain's guiding hand Can tame the one the sailors call the shadow Sun and horizon met I weighed the anchor hoisted sails My course was set My cutthroat crew conspirin With the stars our guide They point the way through perils fraught And lead us to the one they call the shadow None can tamr the one the sailors call the shadow Lean left Hard righ Hold tightly to her helm She'll try to drown you just for spite Heave, ho Til first light She'll give a fight To all who try to claim the shadow None can tame the one the sailors call the shadow A mighty tempest grew The banshee cried, "turn back!" But our resolve was true We pointed bow ahead and shouted "We'll break through" The jaws of hell can't hold us back There nothing that can keep us from the shadow The winds blew stronger still The ocean raged against us Tried to break our will The sirens in the water Thirsty for the kill Our vessel reeling to and fro To bear us to the one they call the shadow None can keep us from the one they call the shadow Lean left Hard righ Hold tightly to her helm She'll try to drown you just for spite Heave, ho Til first light She'll give a fight To all who try to claim the shadow None can tame the one the sailors call the shadow As thunder split the sky The lightning drew a shape Beyond the tempest's eye A chill ran through me spine As legend came alive "Avast" I cried All hands as we prepare to take the one they call The shadow "All hands!!!" As we approached her shell The skies went silent Seas went calm as if by spell No signs of fight or flight were in her All was well Until I cried to take her helm Her rigging came alive She hung my crew before me eyes She stole my sight and cursed me captain of the shadow She took my eyes and cursed me captain of the shadow

You don't realize what your music sounds like when I play it on the beach beside the sea on a grey sky day, with waves crashing on the nearby cliffs. Seriously, I feel like a pirate!
chills , just chills. i think i just found the song for a character of mine ( a roleplay character ) it fits her so well. She's a siren of a different sort , able to traverse land and sea whos based on Circe from greek myth. she is able to bring forth storms and raging tides , and is very spiteful indeed. Many thought they could have her only to meet their end many by watery grave. so this just fits her so much on top of being a total bop.
The image of the rigging coming alive, hanging the crew, and blinding the captain goes so hard. Would make a fitting animation for Love, Death, and Robots
I love how he embodies the role of the captain from his song. "She took me eyes and cursed me captain of the shadow." He is the captain and tells the story of his crew to the other sailors who dare pass by. but ngl a part of me believes that he actually doesn't have sight

This song gives me the urge to write a story about pirates going on a journey they know will only lead to their ends, but they all have the determination to go on just to uncover the legend.
NiCe
Absolutely fantastic. I love everything about it.
Now I want to see a series or an animation based off this song
Don't worry I got you covered I'm planning a whole entire animation 👍🏻
@@C0nfused_Crystal nice looking forward to it

To think this is his first song and it came out 6 months ago and he's get 101k subs already just shows how much people like his songs and how much potential he has in the future
No joke! I first heard it at a pirate themed mystery dinner theater and had to look it up. I was legit shocked this was his first song, and an original, and he only had a few videos. I pegged it as a seasoned singer singing a folk song so old its author is lost to time. Hoping he goes far!
Gives me goosebumps, I get mesmerized by how he tells the story.
I swear I'm about to make a whole animatic about this I don't care that I don't have much free time this fits one of my characters so well!!!
Do it
Please send tell me when it's made 🙏 I would love to watch it!
yes tell us
Im gonna sub to you so il see it
Ok but listen to this at night in the dark with both earbuds in and your eyes closed. it was so cool!
I love this, especially how it’s so simple and it is set up like it’s him telling a ghost story to his friends at a party.
This shanty is something else in absolutely the best way possible. I have been playing it on repeat while I sit here making jewelry and it gives me the best chills.
Bought the song on iTunes, subbed to the TikTok and here as well! I can’t get enough of this song. Need more! This is so good!
I found the first part on tiktok and waited eversince for a whole version. I'm really happy to finally know how the story ends, and the song is just fire 🔥🔥🔥 I love it 💙💜💙💜
KEEP UP THE DARN GOOD WORK CAP'N!
Astonishing, I can't help listening to it again and again !!
I’ve been listening to this on repeat. I need an album with more of these stories ❤
Purchased the song and am now sharing this video as much as possible!
Where did you purchase this? I can't find a bandcamp link or anything
I made this song into a dungeons and dragons adventure for my players. They absolutely loved it and bid me say thank you for a unforgettable evening.
"Where do we find her?"

love this song it has a strong meaning about how crews try to tame "the one they call the shadow". can't wait till you release more songs like this one
Watching you build the song and story from TikTok has been a wonderful experience!! The sounds of joy I made when I saw this was finally finished and released, that was a beautiful feeling!!
Thank you so much for letting us accompany you on the journey to completion of The Tale of the Shadow!!
This is absolutely beautiful music. I've had this on repeat. I can't wait to see your music rise. 💜
Wonderful powerful voice. Thank you so much for this sharing!
Beautiful work!
Very catchy tune.
I am sure I will be singing it to myself at work now.
👍😀
I love this so much. I've been listening to it on repeat ever since I discovered it. Your voice is amazing and i love how dark it gets because they didn't listen to the warnings
This is absolutely amazing. I can't even put it into words. My favourite part is I know the flat cap is your thing, but it fits this song so well because it feels like you were actually blind the whole time and it was foreshadowing. Especially as you say about being blinded you sort ot snap your head around a few times like searching in the dark as if blind. Intended or not, such an incredible song.
[LYRICS]
I set upon the sea
To search for phantom sails
From tails my mum told me
A ghostly galleon filled with gold
She sails alone
No crew, nor captain's guiding hand
Can tame the one the sailors call the shadow
Sun and horizon met
I weighed the anchor hoisted sails
My course was set
My cutthroat crew conspirin
With the stars our guide
They point the way through perils fraught
And lead us to the one they call the shadow
None can tamr the one the sailors call the shadow
Lean left
Hard righ
Hold tightly to her helm
She'll try to drown you just for spite
Heave, ho
Til first light
She'll give a fight
To all who try to claim the shadow
None can tame the one the sailors call the shadow
A mighty tempest grew
The banshee cried, "turn back!"
But our resolve was true
We pointed bow ahead and shouted
"We'll break through"
The jaws of hell can't hold us back
There nothing that can keep us from the shadow
The winds blew stronger still
The ocean raged against us
Tried to break our will
The sirens in the water
Thirsty for the kill
Our vessel reeling to and fro
To bear us to the one they call the shadow
None can keep us from the one they call the shadow
Lean left
Hard righ
Hold tightly to her helm
She'll try to drown you just for spite
Heave, ho
Til first light
She'll give a fight
To all who try to claim the shadow
None can tame the one the sailors call the shadow
As thunder split the sky
The lightning drew a shape
Beyond the tempest's eye
A chill ran through me spine
As legend came alive
"Avast" I cried
All hands as we prepare to take the one they call
The shadow
"All hands!!!"
As we approached her shell
The skies went silent
Seas went calm as if by spell
No signs of fight or flight were in her
All was well
Until I cried to take her helm
Her rigging came alive
She hung my crew before me eyes
She stole my sight and cursed me captain of the shadow
She took my eyes and cursed me captain of the shadow
Thanks ❤

This song sounds like an adventure! It’s giving me the same feeling as watching the cut scene at the end of shores of gold in sea of thieves!! You are awesome dude!!!
I love your music Keep making more music please
i CANNOT get enough of this song. I WILL learn these lyrics. I swears it.
Something
I have had this song in my head since I found it. Beautiful shanty. It also gave me inspiration for a character story in a game I'm playing.
This song just gives me visions of an epic battle at sea. AMAZING WORK!
I'm playing this song on repeat on Halloween its just too GOOD
You don't realize what your music sounds like when I play it on the beach beside the sea on a grey sky day, with waves crashing on the nearby cliffs. Seriously, I feel like a pirate!
Great Song! The storyline of the song would also make a good novel or movie!
chills , just chills. i think i just found the song for a character of mine ( a roleplay character ) it fits her so well. She's a siren of a different sort , able to traverse land and sea whos based on Circe from greek myth. she is able to bring forth storms and raging tides , and is very spiteful indeed. Many thought they could have her only to meet their end many by watery grave. so this just fits her so much on top of being a total bop.
I've had this stuck in my head for several days now I hope you realize how fricking catchy this is, North 😁
This is my favourite song lately. I can't stop playing it
"A mighty tempest grew"
Man i love the delivery of that line with the music
I listened to this on repeat for like half an hour, and got chills at "A chill ran through me spine as legend came alive" every single time. Still do
Points to RUclips for recommending this to me!
This is awesome!
This is a massive W but imagine an animated version or a music video for this
This is my new favorite shanty! Can't wait to hear more songs from you!
That ending of blowing out the candle was perfect!
The image of the rigging coming alive, hanging the crew, and blinding the captain goes so hard. Would make a fitting animation for Love, Death, and Robots
Robots?
This song tells a entire story of a lifetime
I love how he embodies the role of the captain from his song. "She took me eyes and cursed me captain of the shadow." He is the captain and tells the story of his crew to the other sailors who dare pass by.
but ngl a part of me believes that he actually doesn't have sight
❤ I love your voice! I am going to love to have you on Spotify so I can listen to you while I drive haha. Keep up the great work! You are amazing!

Love this shanty, tells a good story
I seen this on Tik Tok and listening to the full song. It's very catchy and a vibe. I love it!!
I got the chills.. This song is everything. I feel like it's a ghost caption trying to warn sailors of this.. Like he was trying to spare some lives because he seen everything, he knew what happened to his crew.. And that he doesn't want another crew to suffer the same thing
