I have been very ill for the last 8 months, with one complication after another slowly eating away at my will to keep going, to keep fighting. But through all of it, nearly losing my life more than a few times, multiple surgeries and procedures, losing and slowly regaining control of my legs, losing nearly half of my body weight, I was surrounded by a group of the most amazing friends and family a man could ask for, along with my wonderful wife, who sacrificed so much to be with me in the hospital, nearly every day. They never gave up, and never let me give up. I am happy to say that I am finally on the road to recovery, and even though that road is very long and difficult, I think you can understand me when I sing along with this song, practically yelling out the words "I'm still here!" with all my breath. It’s a vocal technique, he does that whenever needing to sing above his natural octave. The higher the note the bigger the “smile”. It starts to look like a joker smile on really high notes. Check out some of his other music and pay attention to higher octaves, he’s almost always doing it.

I have the "On My Way" Disney Sing-A-Long Songs DVD and I used to watch it all the time when I was little (but never really sang along to the songs), mostly because I wanted to watch the scene and listen to the song "I'm Still Here" cause I liked it so much. "Treasure Planet" is also one of my favorite underrated Disney movies
Treasure Planet was one of my favorite movies growing up that seems to be one most forget about. This cover brings such a bright tone to it. Man Irish folk is just one of those genres that makes you feel at home and hopeful every time.
I am glad this movie bombed or else Disney would've ruined it with their current record...now it can remain an untouchable gem of an adaptation of a classic....
@nawedahmed8168 tbf, back when Treasure Planet was made (2002), Disney had a better track record w/ sequels and were more tasteful w/ "milking" franchises, so a Treasure Planet sequel mightve been good if there was a way they believed they could think to continue the story. thing is, Treasure Planet is loosely based off of Treasure Island, which did not get a sequel (well, by the same author, theres been plenty of sequels made by others over the years, but i dont include those because theyre just sequels ppl decided to make in the same universe to continue where the classic left off without input from the og author as far as i'm aware), so why would Treasure Planet get a sequel? supposedly there was a sequel in the form of a game, but the validity of the canon is still debated. i think it WAS made by Disney, but it's just the game never caught on and, those who have played it, didnt like the story and debate whether it is/should be canon because it kinda contradicts the movie
This cover came out at a very difficult point in my life, and has consistently been a song I've come back to as an affirmation and helped me deal with a lot of personal struggles. Just want to put it out there, that it's resonated strongly and made a difference in accepting myself for who I am.

This is a song that I've connected to deeply ever since I first heard it. Moreso since growing and discovering a lot more about myself. But listening to your cover is the first time I've almost been brought to tears. Something about Irish folk and Irish rock really impacts me differently, and when you reached the second verse I was already getting a little bit shakey. Thank you, Colm. One of the relics of my childhood was the PS1 Treasure Planet tie-in game. While I was too young to succeed at beating the game, I would still fire it up just to play the music video for this song hidden in the special features. Replayed over and over I did. It seems fitting, seeing as the story is a juxtaposition of futuristic sci-fi story with classical pirate tale, for it to be covered in Irish folk style (seeing as most sea shanties were folky). I'd argue that the original song should have been done this way from the start. I also love how with each repetition of "I'm still here" at the end of each chorus the featured harmony is rising, giving the final repetition the emotional gravitas it deserves. True craftsmanship. Love your stuff.
One of my all-time favorite Disney songs, plucked from my second-favorite Disney movie... reworked into my favorite musical genre. This is a thing that exists now. I can't think of anything I can say in response to this that could possibly feel like enough. It's just so good. It literally sounds like it could fit right in on an Irish Descendants album, except it's made even better by its connection to something else I love.
This is such a fun rendition of this song. The style fits so well considering some of the other music and thematic elements in the movie. Treasure planet is by far my favorite Disney movie and I love seeing it get some love. Great job!

This movie and the song touches my soul. I’ve watch this movie in every key moment in my life and always provides me insight and to trust my instincts, from taking risk desicions like removing friends from my life, to taking that risky job, doing that difficult hobby, reading that book, traveling to remote countries or talking to that beutiful girl. Always believe in yourself and what you can provide to this world cause there is only one you, never let anybody crush your soul and numb you from your purpose.

@nawedahmed8168 tbf, back when Treasure Planet was made (2002), Disney had a better track record w/ sequels and were more tasteful w/ "milking" franchises, so a Treasure Planet sequel mightve been good if there was a way they believed they could think to continue the story.
thing is, Treasure Planet is loosely based off of Treasure Island, which did not get a sequel (well, by the same author, theres been plenty of sequels made by others over the years, but i dont include those because theyre just sequels ppl decided to make in the same universe to continue where the classic left off without input from the og author as far as i'm aware), so why would Treasure Planet get a sequel? supposedly there was a sequel in the form of a game, but the validity of the canon is still debated. i think it WAS made by Disney, but it's just the game never caught on and, those who have played it, didnt like the story and debate whether it is/should be canon because it kinda contradicts the movie
This cover came out at a very difficult point in my life, and has consistently been a song I've come back to as an affirmation and helped me deal with a lot of personal struggles. Just want to put it out there, that it's resonated strongly and made a difference in accepting myself for who I am.

This is a song that I've connected to deeply ever since I first heard it. Moreso since growing and discovering a lot more about myself.
But listening to your cover is the first time I've almost been brought to tears. Something about Irish folk and Irish rock really impacts me differently, and when you reached the second verse I was already getting a little bit shakey.

One of the relics of my childhood was the PS1 Treasure Planet tie-in game. While I was too young to succeed at beating the game, I would still fire it up just to play the music video for this song hidden in the special features. Replayed over and over I did. It seems fitting, seeing as the story is a juxtaposition of futuristic sci-fi story with classical pirate tale, for it to be covered in Irish folk style (seeing as most sea shanties were folky). I'd argue that the original song should have been done this way from the start.
I also love how with each repetition of "I'm still here" at the end of each chorus the featured harmony is rising, giving the final repetition the emotional gravitas it deserves. True craftsmanship. Love your stuff.

This movie and the song touches my soul. I’ve watch this movie in every key moment in my life and always provides me insight and to trust my instincts, from taking risk desicions like removing friends from my life, to taking that risky job, doing that difficult hobby, reading that book, traveling to remote countries or talking to that beutiful girl. Always believe in yourself and what you can provide to this world cause there is only one you, never let anybody crush your soul and numb you from your purpose.
