hated and proud since 78'.. puts a lot of what everyone has been through into song.. "that is what an artist does". Real person, real problems, real way to cope..thank you for all the ballads and all the good shows\
first time i heard this song is from guitar hero 3 and after that im start listening this until now ,after many years i think im fell in love with this song ,, simple song but so deep
I have watched this video 1000 times now, And Mike Ness just keeps looking better every time around! Incredible musician, I would give my right arm to meet him!!!!!
Single, supporting my folks and about to lose my job of 8 years to the same old BS that lots of folks are dealing with these days...but I gotta say, this made me smile. Bring it.
Wore out the cassette, bought the CD when it came out, kids grew up on it and stole the CD so I ordered more. Through the good times and bad, Social D is by far one of my favorite bands!
I bumped into mike ness at a antique store here in Ontario CA called “Treasures and junk” I noticed him but didn’t go up to him and I kinda regret it but I just wanted to respect his space.
Ikr? Like why do people even have opinions that differ from yours? Lol in all seriousness this is a great song, but opinions exist. Be respectful and just enjoy the music, not everyone likes the same thing :)

Adding this song to acoustic set we do. I never knew Ness and/or the band did it acoustically until I did some Google/RUclips research. As much as I love the full band studio recording, this is just as good.
Thank you for posting this vid ! Did you (brammetjeve) actually film this ?? All I can say is that I'm jealous !! What an incredible opportunity to capture this live and in person !! -- To all you folks out there thinking that Ness is 'Stoned' or 'messed up' --- relax !! He has been sober longer than Most of you been alive .
I love reading everyones comments on Ness bout how he's not punk anymore and blah, blah, blah, have a nice warm cup already. Some albums are better than others, but they are all better than most. The last show I saw they played a couple songs from every album, it was perfect ! And comparing them to Green Day? C'mon already!
@Fastdirt505 40 Watt in October 2009? They stayed at Hilton Garden Inn. They couldn't believe I drove from Baton Rouge but that was as close as they came to us. It was a good road trip and got to see some old friends from Atlanta.

@HOTxSAUCExPOPTARTS "Another State of Mind" dude, check it out and you'll realize that he was punk. Agreed he's no longer punk like he used to but he started as punk just like green day did. They deviated and created their own style eventually. And yes, green day is a joke now. I can't say the same about Mike Ness though.
@HOTxSAUCExPOPTARTS Because that's punk rock. Green Day's Billy Joel used to wear it as well. Look up "State of Mind Mike Ness" and you'll find out why. Mike explains it there. This guy has been doing it since the 80's. A true punk legend!
21 Dislikes? We should be able to find these people. Every one of'em. And when we get there, just blast Social D on large ass speakers at their house until they run outside to see what the problem is and then we bash each of their heads in with a Mike Ness lookalike guitar. We'd have a collective fund, Patreon, whatever, that would buy each of the 21 guitars. It's gonna be a bit expensive, average $2500-3000 for the guitar x 21 people, but hey...what a video montage THAT would be! I predict no dislikes and most views ever.
Mike Ness is a punk legend. Lately he's just stretching his creativity a little, like all great artists. Look at Henry Rollins for example: he does many other things, but still goes back and remembers where he comes from. And unlike Green Day, he will not forget. Now I need to listen to some Black Flag, or maybe The Ruts...
@angelabrice2010 Go to a show and hang out by the bus after. Once the crowd dies down he'll step out. Three rules: No smoking, No photo's (depending on mood), and no life stories. I met them at a hotel in Athens GA.
+rockabillylaker Tuning's in E flat, but I think Mike puts a capo on the 2nd fret so it feels more like an F, still the same G, C, D chord shapes for the rhythm, but that's just what I've worked out, hope it's helpful!
The man sings from his heart...lost two brothers one to suicide...alot of Mike's music really hits home..how many Johnny's must there be?.
dude you never knew either of them stop pretending.
I love his style of vocals, that raspy voice is pure gold.
He has the sexiest voice, ever. 😍😍😍
Pure Americana
seems like i end up liking all the people with raspy voices... steve o... mike ness.
Mike’s done that rare thing where a musician keeps getting better and better as he continues to live, play, & sing
Mike ness helped me with his music
same here
Edoardo Perini same
Love it

I can't believe I just found this. This is real talent real music. Love you Mike
I just saw him in concert - he's the real deal. Creative, gracious, humble, funny, and now his son plays with the band.
Wore out the cassette, bought the CD when it came out, kids grew up on it and stole the CD so I ordered more. Through the good times and bad, Social D is by far one of my favorite bands!
Such a great song! Mikes lyrics are groin the heart! Had this song on cassette back in hs days..good times

anyone else think this would be a kickass campfire song?
How can anyone dislike this song. I just don't get people these days
Ikr? Like why do people even have opinions that differ from yours?

One of all my all time favourites to play on guitar.
Easiest song of all time lol
Mike Ness is great man, love Social D
congrats!!!!!! Sounds very sweet!!!!!!!!! great video! I have seen Social Distortion many times, unfortunately, before popular songs.
Chords are G, Cmaj7, and D. He holds his chords slightly different because of an old injury to his index finger. Album version is G, C, D.
Amazing
it’s Mike Ness, I mean, this guy is awesome, he never felt doubt.

but he is still sooo handsome and talented. :)

Jon Grevious wtf u talking about greenday just did a show at gillman street a year or so ago. They play small venues all the time

@ryankrone G C D almost all of Social D's song are those chords,just in a different progression
@666Rachael He's getting old, he may not look as good, but he's still an amazing artist
@Gartauk1 cheers my good man, been there....doin..story of our lives

does anybody knows where can i get my name on the frets on my acoustic guitar???
When was this?
is he in standard tuning or in Eb? and what fret is capo on?
The song originally doesn't have a kapo
For the past 20 years or so, Mike plays everything in Eb with a capo at the 2nd fret, essentially playing in E#. That is what he does here.
@@imvandenh isnt it the same thing as putting capo on 1st fret in standard tuning?
Man where was this and who are these lucky bastards?
anyone got the strum pattern?
by what I see, it's DD UDU, is that right?
Like Quien oiga story of mi life en la cuarentena del coronavirus
What tuning is this in?
+TheMjackson1977 Pretty sure it's E flat
+rockabillylaker Tuning's in E flat, but I think Mike puts a capo on the 2nd fret so it feels more like an F, still the same G, C, D chord shapes for the rhythm, but that's just what I've worked out, hope it's helpful!
What color eyes does he have? :)
Mr.Sickboy I'm fairly sure that they're blue. :)
black by the looks
mike Ness grosoooooo
is it getting any better than this?i don't think so...
@HOTxSAUCExPOPTARTS he doesn't wear it anymore.
