Mike always does a cool vocal melody solo.. He's not a shredder by any means but he plays exactly what fits and does the song justice.. Which is all ya need..I try to do that but I usually go off a lil bit when the energy calls for it.. I'm grateful I've played live a lot and learned as I went

Just saw them 5/24 at the Mission Ballroom Denver. UNBELIEVABLE SHOW! One of my all time favorite bands.
First time I heard of SD, at Sams shopping and Ring of Fire was played. Been hooked ever since. They rock. Period.

Years ago, my future son in law wanted to get on my good side by inviting me to a concert of my choosing at his expense. He hadn’t asked my daughter to marry him yet, but I had an idea that was his plan.
Social D was playing about two hours away in Bakersfield, so I chose that to make it easy on him. My daughter offered to drive us there even though I typically don’t drink very often. So what could go wrong?
The venue was garbage. Why they picked the Bakersfield fairgrounds is beyond me. It was raining that night, so the show was moved indoors, apparently where cattle is normally kept. The smell of manure was overwhelming. The roof leaked in several spots so the crowd had to tighten up a bit. But Mike Ness and the boys rocked on.
My daughter bought us beer tickets; again, I don’t drink. Apparently her boyfriend didn’t either. We chugged anyway until the bar ran out of beer. For those of us that still had beer tickets, the bar served up shots of Wild Turkey. I suppose I don’t need to tell you how that went. Before the show was over, both of us puked. When we got to my daughter’s car, someone had broken a side window to steal what was inside. Now we had to ride home in the rain with a broken window. My daughter had to pull over a few times so we could puke. We stopped at a gas station where my daughter’s boyfriend slipped on the water and cut his arm on a piece of broken glass. A nearby hospital was gracious enough to stitch it for him.
After a crazy night like that, he earned his place in my family. Anyone who would stick around after a night like that must really love my daughter.
“YOU GOT…….BAD LUCK!” …was my intro to SD…. Heard it in 1993 in Chicago getting hammered with a nice shiner from the night before!

I think it’s amusing he was only 24 when he released “story of my life”😂. Still a puppy. Still love this song. I start hopping and singing everyone I hear it.
It's funny how they recorded this concert for the DVD, yet they sound so much better most of the time. Even better now more than 10 years later.

Social D was not "punk rock" ...i love them to the core, its just that they were more of a conduit to our souls. Ive seen em many times in my over 50 years and no i did not see them in early or mid 80s.
However i did see them in Detroit in early 90s and jumping around in doc martens in that era. Im not afraid to talk about truth and then. The concert was crazy and i can't even remember what club it was...yet dont matter. These times WILL happen again just will happen with a different name.

If anyone wanna call me boomer go ahead because you got your generations off by a minimum of 10 years more like 20. Its ok however because i dont care that much and my daughter still loves me.
