😮Anybody still get the chills when that opening riff hits? Just me? Okay thats cool
No me too. I listen to this on the bike ride to school and that part has me going fast the whole time
Not dead. Even though I should be in 95.
Cool detail: The detective(?) is carrying a M1903 Springfield. He's in his 30s, which means he would have likely been a WWI veteran. More than likely he would have carried that exact weapon in the trenches, and known it exceptionally well. It only had 5 in the magazine. He fired only 5 rounds, and appeared to hit center target in 4 out of the 5. First one into the engine block, second into the driver, third into Brent's character's chest, fourth appears to miss, fifth into Ness' character.
Good call....my dad was a gun dealer so it's cool to see someone else appreciate weaponry instead of bangin a 9 mil & thinking you're a "gangster" LOL The 1920's-50's REAL gangsters lived
Only a rifleman would notice that. Glad to know there are a few of us around.
Impressive reply
Wow! What an eye for detail. Impressive that this much thought went into making this video.
You would be right, my brother.
Mike Ness is a legend, deeply under appreciated for his talents. He's a lot like Johnny Cash with a splash of punk rock.
Him and John Fogerty American Icons
Amen
guitarworld.com ranks him 13th most badass guitarist of all time! Coincidental that he was No. 13!?!?
Wes Williams Well said good sir
I never had a bucket list but I finally got to see Mike and the gang last year it’s probably the last concert I’ll ever see but I’ll die happy knowing that
I am 64 years young. Heard a lot of great music over the years. Many different genres. I can always depend on SD to exorcise those counter productive emotions that arise within us all from time to time. The best video ever!
TRUTHAT
My best friend just died today at 6:55 this morning, this was his absolute favorite song , I'm just heartbroken because he was the best RN I ever had the privilege to meet 💔💔💔 he told me once he wanted this played at his funeral , I may not get to do that but I'm playing it now 😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Sorry to hear that. R.I.P your friend
God bless
The most badass music video ever made, I'm literally crying right now.
Seriously? Beat It by Michael Jackson destroys this!
...I am laughing at that, too.
SocialD destroyed it with this vid.
we need a Music channel that shows videos...hmmm...I shall call it MTV, circa 1982.
+Scott Struble Michael Jackson was a pedophile. Fuck off.
Mike Johnston , read what I wrote again.
I said this vid destroyed Beat It.
Reading Compresion...get some.
you mean back when there was still music on mtv
DivineDawn sort of, at least mtv was the shit back then, but I've never seen this music video on mtv, talkin' about bad luck eh Lol
I freaking LOVE this song! GG
You're not alone :D
Holy shit! It's Bodil!
BODILL FORTY!!! BODILLL FOORTYYY!!
***** bodil

2024 checking in. Never had seen this before. Fantastic song, outstanding storytelling!!
классный ролик!!!
This has gotta be one of my favorite music videos. It's like a short film in its own right.
Are you joking? A gang robs a bank and then gets shot by the cops later. Not exactly sure what constitutes a short film, but it needs more of a story than that...right?
So to get in the mood of my story focusing on a Punk Girl in 2008 LA, I started listening to some punk again and this is my first time seeing the video and the movie like idea caught me off guard

Well said, my friend. MTV is a joke.
Who’s listening in 2024?
Anyone cool! ROCK ON!🤘🏼
SOCIAL DISTORTION ROCKS!!!
Yes!!!
Here!
🤘🤘🤘
👋🏻
One of those folk punk weirdo’s
Thank goodness for a music video that tells a story. Glad people still put thought into them.
+Mike Anderson I agree. This is one of the best videos ever. It's been like 5 years, and I still love watching it from time to time.
+Mike Anderson . I also like the suble cues in the plot. This was a heist that went sour. You can grasp from the newspaper headline that they'd done prior robberies, but not a mass killing. "Sick Boy" is a grim and mean dude, he never sheds a tear, yet he's traumatized by flashbacks about the murders when he enters the barn at 4:21.
Like in animation, where every cell matters - every camera shot in this video contributed to the story or the characters.
Mike Anderson Rather thank sluts dressed half naked dancing in front of the camera for views
Saw these guys open up for the Ramones when I was 15. 25 years later and seeing them 8 more times and they are still my favorite band...
You are so fortunate. I've seen Social D but never the Ramones. Kudos to you, sir
I've seen both bands a grip of times they fn rock
co headljner
I also saw that tour, line up and it was my B day too boot. Berkeley Calif, Greek Theatre. opening was 'Overwhelming Colorfast', a local Antioch, Calif band. It was a Spectacular night. Fall weather 10-10-9?
Just remembered, it's about to be the 20's again
Slevin Reviews My friend! The song starts, "I'm a gangtser, 1934....."
Yeah , It's Real Close Now !
2020
yep. here we are.
Welcome to the future my friend, how have you changed throughout the 6 years?\
music video? more like a short film, damn that was nice
Are you joking? A gang robs a bank and then gets shot by the cops later. Not sure what constitutes a short film, but sorry - not today.
@@cjkoca1 It's a concise story with a cinematic feel to it. I don't see why it wouldn't be likened to a short film.
@@cjkoca1 Not sorry. Today.
English is not my native language.
when I was a teenager, I always wanted to know what Mike Ness is singing about so badly...
so I always had a English-Japanese dictionary with me.
now, English is still difficult but I understand his lyrics 100%
Social D is more than just a punk rock band for me.
thats really cool the music really spoke to you and in turn it made you learn
thyringmaster
thank you!
Im still learning and never get bored.
wish they come to Japan someday...
Mike Ness's lyrics and music are super pretty basic. English is not my native language either , but I speak fluidly. I would suggest learning other lyrics from other bands, for ex. listen to NoFX's Punk In Drublic, awesome lyrics that'll make you think and learn words, and shit. Or for that matter try anything from Bad REeligion. haha. Not to down SD, one of my favorite bands, just my 2 cents.
thebarrochannel I like NOFX too!
Fat Mike has been making great songs for yrs.
I also like bad religion for a long time but their lyrics are bit too difficult for me sometime...
definitely need a dictionary.lol
thanks for your suggestions my friend!!
AK SNA thats the point! get that dictionary out.
John Dillinger never died. He just stopped robbing banks and started a Punk Band.
I love it, I love the Bonnie, Clyde, Buck, Blanche Barrow feel to it. Thanks Social D for keeping the feeling alive.
Anyone else still listening to this legend
Going to see them in October 4 2024 🤘😎🤘
I met Mr. Brent Harding back in 06 at a re-sale shop in K.C. I was at the VA Hosp in 06 being treated for numerous things after my deployment to Iraq. I saw Social D perform live in Honolulu in 2001 or 2002. One of the highlights of my life. What Mike Ness and the rest of the guys put out has helped me thru so much in my life. Thank you for what you do.
The only music video I know of where the song is extended to accomodate for an epic video, not shortened to save money.
Mike Ness from social D. Really tells a story with each and every song u can feel there music
・
This Short Flick is just plain BADASS, It fits the Music perfectly..great production...
How does this not have more views? One of the best music videos I've ever seen.
Not only maintaining the art of making true music, but also bringing back the art form of videos. Is there anything this guy cant do? Amazing.
Mike ness in my opinion is the world's greatest song writer no one can write songs like this guy a total genius
"13's my lucky number, to you it means stay inside"
- Bad Luck by Social Distortion
🎉 thats right.great line
Everyone here arguing if these guys are punk or not and I'm just here like "can we all just shut the fuck up and enjoy the music lol"
+Evolutionizer "I can't enjoy it without a proper label!!!" sigh. Agreed.
+Evolutionizer . I get sick and tired of the hundreds of genres and sub-genres. It's all rock n roll to me.
+C. Parks lol so for you anarcho-punk is just punk aaa?=)))dafuq=)))))))))
+C. Parks punk like many other genre is much better to know subgenres if you wanna get into some bands from horror-punk or other kind of subgenres
+Evolutionizer its a happy californian punk style
Only a band like this with a look like this could make a retro video like this. Amazing.
Still loveing it 2019ish
Seriously guys one of the greatest music videos I've seen
This song is something else .... Pure emotions
Great song and the video definatly keeps you engaged. This band brings back so many memories.
This is my song for sure. Thanks for posting it. Been a Social D fan for like 20 years now. Glad they never changed too much,
Song still Kicks Ass in 2023 🖤🎸
Still? It is only 12 years old, but yes!
My brother introduced me to social distortion, he invited me to a social D concert back in 1996 at the Hollywood palladium, I was 22 yrs & he was19. We both now 48 yrs & 46 yrs old. He bought me tix for tonight s show at the Belasco in Los Angeles. It's been 26 yrs since last time I've seen them. I'm so excited & feel young again. Can't wait 🤘🇺🇲💋. Thanks lil brother Sergio
That's probably the best music video I've seen literally in the last 12 plus years. Like someone else said before, Thank god for Mike Ness and Social D for keeping Punk Rock alive these days
WOW! It's like watching a music video and a gangster movie at the same time. My heart beats fast while I'm watching this..
One bad ass video from my favorite band for over 20 YEARS
This has to be the best music video in existence. Amazing.
love seeing his son carry on the punk rock. Mike Ness is a god in the punk world! He never sold out to make money. Just wrote what was true to him!!!!
love some Social D never thought of them strictly as punk, to me they are and have always been just amazingly awesome true Rock n Roll.
Mas eles são muito punks sim, apesar disso.
@@Hectorhc13 they have their own style of punk called greaser punk ... it's definitely no crustpunk, hardcorepunk or d-beat.
This is one of the coolest music videos out there, hands down
My first punk show was Social Distortion....in 1989....me and my punker commrade....we took a greyhound.. from Laredo to SATX....I had a bomber in my pocket....and a sniffer dog came on the bus....kept my cool .....whatever.....West Ave... special events center ....my first punk show.... Crippled By Society....and Social Distortion.....there was a wooden barricade....and the nail points were not
hammerd down....my friend Greg got his palm slashed good..not stitches.....but bloody....and the bouncers were pinche' mean with the kids......we Laredo kids 10 or so in all drank all nite with Dennis Danelle,(r.i.p.)....and John Mauer......at the motel.....most righteous intro to punk.1989.Mike was with a hot Texan groupie...but he was way cool after the show meet and greet.
I love this band so much
This is SOOO well done. Even better than most movies about the era. I must have watched it at least half a hundred times. The very definition of badass backed by an absolute killer track.
Perfectly captures the midwestern armed bank robber craze of the late 1920's. Bonnie and Clyde being the most famous example.
As an enthusiast of the era, I just love the attention to detail. Especially that Ness is wearing gloves. You see so many Tommy gun scenes without them and those suckers ran HOT! They would fry your hands if you didn't have them.
Kudos SD. Superb work on this!
This has to be one of the most epic music videos I have seen
And this is where my daily quarantine browsing led me to today.
Hands down one of the best music videos I've ever seen, damn..
keeping it classic ! doing a music video with a story(minifilm)... can't get old ... like the music of social d thanks mike
This is by far, my favourite music video ever
Hands down, the best music video ever!
Everyone who's saying these guys "aren't punk"...obviously, you don't really know their entire catalog and/or history about Social Distortion. Just because they aren't repetitive Bad Religion type of punk (still like you, BR) doesn't make them any less punk. They've obviously matured up since they've formed.
Yeah, I actually prefer their material up to the 2000s (Sex, Love and Rock &Roll was honestly my least favorite album), but this one is kinda back-to-basic, sobering and definitely lives up to not just punk itself, but for who the band is.
Just sayyinn..
Daniel Medina Sex, Love & Rock N Roll is my no.1 SD Album, but i agree wholeheartedly. The thing i love about these guys is their constant maturity. They are growing *With the fans* instead of sticking to the formula. Respect.
That's because most people think punk, they think mohawks and clothes pins, Social D you think Rat Rods and Bettie Page.
It’s great rock n roll
@@roguelead72 Which WAS Punk Rock before Punk Rock existed. Mad Respect to Social D.
Ironically Sex Love and Rock N Roll is my favorite album
I just started listening to social distortion and I feel like I am listening to music from indie heaven
never gets old
Going to see them tomorrow in AZ. Can't wait!
This is the best music video ever.
i find this to date one of the coolest music videos ever made..
Great tune! I met Mike once, very humble, nice guy! Rock star amongst rock stars!
wow i must have watched this a 100 times when i was a kid, legendary!!!
best music video ever
That was some good shit... kinda proves that smaller labels can still put out good videos, and this is exactly what I'd imagine a video written by Mike Ness would be. Mike's sure lookin old, but he's still a punk rock god with style his own. Hope Social D keeps puttin new shit out for many more years, even when Mike's sittin in a rocking-chair playin his guitar.
both the song and video never fail to blow my head off, every single time :)
probobly one of the best music videos ive ever seen
I have clung to this music since 1995 like a drowning man clings to that life raft. I wept the first time I heard " Down Here With The Rest Of Us". I love Mike's solo albums. There is so much love poured into all of it. My life at one point was total and complete shit. I felt so defeated and so useless and so unloved and so broken. And through it all, I didn't have anything. But I did have those records, and I would just drink and play them. I have the same reverence for Mike Ness that I hold for Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.
That's how I'm feeling now, my life isn't going well but I'm trying to fix it...Mike's music and lyrics are helping me a lot. I'm also learning guitar, it's like therapy for me. I'm glad to hear you are doing better now.
Low self opinion by Henry Rollins got me.
@@wannabecarguy rollins all you need is 2 words to be a success YES and OK. epic and true.
I almost cried at the end, watching Mike "Sick Boy" Ness go out in a hail of gunfire. That wasn't a music video that was a story narrated by a damn good song.
This is the best, THE BEST, music video that has been and will ever be made.
Best music video ever made period!!!!!!!
Hands down the most badass band!
Social Distortion!! 13's always been my number
still
I just love the look, and detail of the music video amoozing.
Best video I've seen a very very long time.
I wish I could of showed this video to my pops before he passed he would of loved this video :)
+Andrea Newsome Sorry to hear that it is a great song
hell yea he would of loved this vid
+Francisco Ferrel hell yeh he was that was his favorite band
One of the best videos of SD
this video clip is amazing, plus this songs it's awesome. Congrets @Social Distortion. big hugs from Brazil!
beyond great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greatest band ever!
i saw these guys at the metropolis in montreal for my bday last week, it was a great gift from a special friend throughout the years thanx marty, thanx social distorion ... and it burns,burns,burns......................................................................
Keep rock n rolling social D you continue to inspire me
of all the albums that Social Distortion has released through the years, I am most taken with Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes....I bought it initially thinking that it would be a "middle of the road" CD that most artists make at this point in their career trajectory, but I instantly found a couple of songs that I liked out of the gate and from that point, it just got better and better. Now roughly three months since buying the CD, if it's possible to wear grooves in a CD, I have done it...
Mike ness is a legend one of my favorite musicians of all times
Amazing... i love this song!!!!
1979, the band was born and this is one of their best songs and then the video.
Sickest band ever
Whahaha....cool to see that Mikes machinegun fits completely in the Guitar case (1:50) but when he opens it (1:57) the butt sticks out.... hahaha.... #Details
But further on.... Social D is an fucking awsome band..... The helped me through a lot.... An we played SD at our wedding ceremony
You played SD at your wedding ceremony? Wow. You got my respect...
this is probably "THE" sickest video I have ever seen! Right on Mike I still love your music after all these years👊
ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS EVER!!!!!!
that guy with the bolt action rifle and black coat is a badass! 1 shot 1 kill.
if you listen close enough, you can hear his balls clanging together. lol
probably the best music video/short film ive seen.
Ikr. Dude had zero compunction about what needed to be done. He just did his job, clean and simple.
SAVAGE!
That is some solid rock there. Not their best but damned good. I'd pretty much given up hope for a new able ever coming out from them and just saw this off to the side while watching something else. Love the video too.
the best video I have ever seen !!!
No comment other than Social D. Is a great band and Mike Ness is superb
Who's listening in 2030?
First time hearing it, I'm here because of gangster blues by mattafix.
Lol
Me, probably!
I love you.
I will!
I just heard the intro. to this song on the 1920's radio, and said, wait I know this song!!! Shazamed it, and sure as shit it was a song from 1931, Annette Hanshaw- Walkin' My Baby Back Home. Enjoy!
Kick ass video. Kick ass song. Kick ass band.
Snuck in behind the tour buses for the Vans Warped tour 98 specifically to see Social D and later that day The Specials. It's a day that I'll never forget. Both bands were to day the least, on point ☝️
Sounds like it was an amazing day for sure! 🤘❤️🤘
"Fucking Amazing" is the only thing to say. The guns are realistic and amazing. They had all the good ones, model 189 shot gun, 1903 spring field, 1928 Thomson, 1911 colt, and 38 revolver
Agreed! That 1903 Springfield is one hell of a rifle too.
hell fuckin ya. M1903a3 and a4 Springfield rifles rock-fat-ass-hard.o do M1garands
next to you know...the 1911's shooting none stop when they only hold 9 a pop...
dragoncustomcycles They actually hold 7 in a magazine and one in the chamber. So it's 7 a pop.
Joseph Damiano Do you even fucking math, 7 in the mag, one in the chamber, that'd be 8. But you're wrong in that regard anyways, it's 8 in the mag, one in the chamber, 9 rounds total.
This song always makes me think of Sons of Anarchy. Love this song.
Epitaph records at one point must of had the best bands signed in the history of music.
quite the production!!!
Still listening?
Still
