Not a sailor. Not Irish. Have no tattoos. Just a broken & lost 35 y.o. man. But just every word in this song resonates deep inside of me. It took like 50+ times to learn to listen to this without shedding a tear or two. Absolutely favourite song of all time. When I’m down, I remember how many views this video has. For me it means, that I’m way not alone like this. It helps. Thanks, Dropkick Murphys, for this feeling. Thanks for your great music.
It is 2024, and this song was the first thing to pop into my head after going through some shit... I hope others find the strength to carry on from this song like I have ✊️💪
Life will always bud, be a rocky road.. If you decide to play brilliant irish music you will climb the world my friend and fxxx everyone in it,,,, stay safe and sound mate ❤❤👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
2 years ago on this day I lost my little brother to suicide. My brother and I tried to stop him right up to the very end... I sit here weeping, typing this out listening to this song on loop thinking about him. We both tattooed his name on us and wear him on our arms til our dying day. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. Thank you Dropkick Murphy for making this amazing and wonderful song. We saw you in KC with Flogging Molly as you preformed this song... it means so much to us, please.. never stop playing this song.
My prayers are with you, your brother and the one that passed, and your family. Keep going strong! It sucks, I lost my aunt 2 years ago, I know what it feels like. Yet again, keep going, you can do it!
This song will always be a reminder of 2018. I was in a biker bar in Arizona, and a woman was singing this song. The whole bar sang along, and it was great. There was beer and liquor flying all over the place. Best year of my life I'd say.
I'm leaving this comment here because I want my dad in Heaven to know I think about him, even though I walked out on him years ago, after he spent decades to find me just to be a part of my life, and he died before I could reconnect. Every time I think of him he'll be reminded of all the things he knows now that I never got to tell his earthly self. So this will do that.
My wife Sue passed away in 2016.she will always be remembered in the rose tattoo I have on my arm inspired by this amazing song....thanks Dropkicks... I love you XXX
My condolences on your loss 😢 I have my wife's name translated into Quenya & written by her own hand in Tengwar script tattooed on my left forearm. COVID nearly took her in 2021 & she'll be on permanent disability the rest of her life. Our 25th Anniversary is in September.
My seven year old daughter was given the chance to pick a song she liked in class. Guess what she picked.... teacher not so happy. My heart filled with pride. THAT'S MY GIRL!!
@@borntoclimb7116 yea she usually likes daddy's music. Sometimes i get the request to put on the record with the skulls on it. That would be Guns 'n' Roses - Appetite for Destruction :-P
As the son of a man who raised me and my brother alone and sacrificed for us at every turn. The line 'This one's for the man that raised me _taught_ me sacrifice and bravery' hits like a hammer. I love this song.
@@mamaluigi74 That can certainly require sacrifice and bravery. Thank them for me please, first responders need more recognition and what they do is important.
it might be just a coincidence, but today while getting a rose tattoo on my shoulder to honour my dad and my grandad, this song was playing over the radio. the artist told me, hey - listen to this, this song is for you. what a great timing. hats off to all of you who made it through all the life's hardship thinking about and honouring your loved ones. may you all be happy and free, always!
I got the wifes name on a rose tattoo a year before she passed away, I only wish I had found this song before she passed so I could sing it to her, to let her know how special she was, now every time I hear it she's all I can think about, she's gone 3 yrs now, I miss more everyday.
Heartbroke to read this. All my thoughts go with you mate. Take care, and dont forget to enjoy life, even if it's hard, people gone too soon would want us to live life to the fullest. Even if it's not for us, as a tribute to them.
I sent my grandpa this song in 2013, he was about 85 then. He said it reminded him of going to O'Leary's in St. Paul Minn way back in the day. I hope he rests in peace, I still listen to this song a lot.
My 16-year-old son and I listen to this song every time we drive anywhere together. Being his father has given me purpose and my life meaning. I've decided to get HIS name in a rose tattoo, but with one difference that I think fitting for the themes of the song and our relationship: it'll be a compass rose, not a flower.
Our Dad was from Dublin, our Mom was a Limerick Lady, both sadly no longer with us. They met and married here in England where myself and siblings were born but we're so proud of our Irish roots and huge extended family. Happy St Patrick's Day to all the Irish people wherever you are in the world! 🍀🇮🇪☘️ Looking forward to seeing you guys performing here in England again ASAP! 😊
Just realized I’m having a child, I’m an American whose family on both sides came from our home, I can’t explain it but you are my people, I will fight for you and for my child, go on home British soldiers
i spread my tears away everytime i hear this song and read your messages...you are wonderful people, these messages are wonderful...lost and never found again, but music, that explain...
This was my mom's favorite song...i lost her sadly to brain cancer but she is still with me everytime i listen to this song....she was an amazing woman ❤️
I listen to this and think of my buddy who passed when he was 21. The best friend a guy could have and I’m writing his tales while this plays. Long live the fallen. 🤘🏾🖤🤘🏾
What a badass song! It stirs all kinds of emotions within me. I try my best to sing along only to draw tears to my eyes and a crack in my voice. Beautiful and sincere lyrics. Cheers, my Brothers!
Have heard of the band but for some reason never checked them out. About 3 months ago a friend of mine from high school, who I hadn't seen in a looong time got a hold of me and we met for lunch and he told me about the band and this song. When I got home I went to my computer and checked it out. What an awesome song. Then I listened to a lot of their music and loved it all.A really really good band. Mad at myself for not checking them out when I first heard of them. But I am glad I know of them now.
I had a very troubled life and then I became pregnant with my son. He changed my whole life. His name means light in the dark. I have a big tattoo with 3 roses with his name in it on my heart. A few weeks ago I heard this song. Now it's one of my favorites. So Thank you 🌹
You changed for him! That he shouldn't have to go through the shit pit. Bless you kiddo! "The world is full of Kings and Queens who blind your eyes & steal your dreams!" (Black Sabbath)
Happy st Patrick’s days to all my lovely Irish clan, I love paddys day but it was a special day for me to spend with family always been proud of my roots and love to go back one but it’s been hard since they have all now sadly gone😢after all the happy songs the Jameson bring me here makes me remember our like kern warrior roots like blank and tans💚💪🏻🇮🇪
The one place on my bucket list that I must visit. I've been quite landlocked in the US as I grew up without a lot, but my family's been here for a few hundred years and I do recall a coat of arms hanging up in the hallway of my grandmother's house.
saw them live this weekend i was so fucking happy as they played rose tattoo it´s my absolute favorite song thank you for this awesome music and this awesome experience you gave me
My daughter passed away March 2022 and my partner passed in January 2023. My daughter loved ya'll and especially this song as did my partner. I'm going to have their names written in a rose tattoo.
I am American of Part Irish extraction and have been to the old Isle but these folks do the Irish culture well.Great song of pride ,life and respecting the things that made you ,who you are.Well done.
I SWEAR!! This is the most friendly youtube posting party I've ever seen! Nice to know the quality of people that enjoy the music I love are high quality.
I'm getting a rose tattoo today because I just recently turned 18 and my dad raised me on Dropkick Murphys. We really bonded over music, and this was one of our favorite songs
I’m leaving this comment here so every time I receive a like, I think of my father and listen to some wonderful music we shared together🤙Love and miss you dad.
I found this song after my friend Johnnie passed away from suicide. I always called him my rose with thorns. Life for him was beautiful to look at but painful in every touching moment. I'm getting a rose tattoo in his honor. Rest easy my friend! You'll never know how much I loved you. Our memory will live on.
The love of my life was named Rose, I was never so close to anybody or as happy as I was with her. She died tragically at 31 years old and turn my life upside down. This song and album came out a month after she was taken from me.Needless to say, It's hard to get through the song with dry eye.
Fun fact: The poker hand in the first part of the video is called the “Dead Man’s Hand” and it consists of the two black Aces and 8’s, as well as one red card, commonly believed to be an Ace of Hearts (Some stories a Joker). It’s called the dead man’s hand because Wild Bill Hickok was shot and killed while playing a game of poker, and this was the hand he held.
My dad just died two weeks ago, me and him listened to this song almost every day i swear. He got a rose tattooed on his hand with my name on a banner. I love this band so much.
Good music is like a highlight reel of our best moments to the darkest corners of our life. It is always there to support and give good advice. I couldn't live without it.
1:401:49 this song always makes me think of my stepdad and him marrying my mom. He truly is one of the best things to happens to my family. Isnt it amazing that someone who wandered into your life can do soo much better than the one who conceived you . Respect to the stepdads who made a difference for the better
Leaving boston after 33 years . Emotional leave , leaving the home i started my young family in . North Dorchester . The city is no longer the same . Thought it would be easy, as my home is empty and for sale sign up locking the door as i leave for 1500 miles of travel i played this song to hear comforting words . Boston strong !! Theres no place in this world comparable to boston and the memories ive shared here . The only thing i wont miss was our trash weather . My rose tattoo i got when i was 17 speaks for itself. Love you mom , rest in peace big brother .
Amazing. Love this band. And there style. Makes me feel 20 all over again. I always appreciate seeing the young go out and show there awsome talent. I was always was told. You aint got nothing nice to say. Dont say it at all . And Im proud to see young talent. Hearing them on Radio. This group rocks
they've been about for like 20 years my dude, but yea they're awesome, making me feel stuff and things, in Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, their particular style isn't as common as you might think, so for once I think those USA actually did a good and produced these guys :D
Greetings from the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio. I can't get enough of this beautiful wonderful song. The flow and the power of the words and the driving music are off the charts of our galaxy!!
It just goes to show how much Americans are ignorant... All that access to the internet for nothing.. They can't even google where the band is from before looking like dumbassess online..
I had the weirdest experience when I first heard this song. I had some random playlist with electronic music and suddenly this track popped, I started crying like crazy without reason while smiling at the same time. It never happed to me before, I felt some weird connection to this song, and I'm not even Irish, I'm Polish living in UK. What an awesome experience. Thank you!
@@cootegeelan8592 No he just told you he wasn't Irish. Handing out our nationality to everyone kind of takes away the whole meaning of being from a country including disregarding his own nationality. Also cringe.
One of my All-Time-Favorite Songs 😊This masterpiece is not the only reason, but a big part of it, that I have a rose tattoo on the inside of my left upper arm. Proud of it ! 🌹
This song has become my family theme. I've taught it to my 5 yo son. And every time we listen to it he goes through all the rose tats on my body and names every family member that each flower is for.
Therein lies a trick. Instead of expecting something and then randomly having the universe destroy one’s expectations, you should, Epicurus says, lower your expectations so that most of what can happen will be better than what you expect.

Lost my mom just a month ago. She was suffering in the hospital while I was at sea. The pandemic made it so difficult for me to go back home but I'm glad I made it before she died. I was able to tell her how much she means to me and how much I love her, said our goodbyes and shared kisses Next week im getting a rose tattoo with her name on it. I love you mom.
I've only recently found the Dropkick Murphys, and l can not stop listening to their music. Totally infectious. They haven't a bad number in their catalogue. I went to see them in Wembley last year 2022 and didn't disappoint, but Al Barr was sadly missed in the lineup.
My grandmother wasn't a punk rocker but she would have appreciated the message in this epic song, and I will always have a place in my heart for such a great woman and inspiration everytime I hear this song, her name was rose, and It will be forever etched upon my skin.
Favorite DKM song and that says alot. I got my dog on my arm. People think it's weird and most don't understand why I did it - but she saved my life and was always by my side. I miss her every day, always will.
I'm an Irishman from, Medford, Massachusetts. R.I.P to my grandmother Ellen (Mulcahy) Kelley My Uncle, Freddy Neary My Grandfather Frederick Neary My Aunt Patty Neary My Grandmother Bernadette (Coffin) Neary My Grandfather Francis Kelley My good friend Dan Fitzgerald My good friend Kirk Morrison MY good friend Joe Cahill The list goes on far more than that. 💚☘️🇮🇪🇺🇲 My family knows I've requested this to be played in the church during my funeral. This song leaves me crying everytime I hear it. Thank you Dropkick Murphy's
This song just resonated with me so much. I lost my oldest son in 2018. I don't have a rose tattoo, but I recreated the tattoo he got at 18. He got a heart with "mom" in it. After he passed, I got a heart with his signature in it. And I'll take it and my love for him to the grave.
I recently lost my dog, I called him my “son” because he behaved that way, he was devoted to his “mama.” Even when I had to put him down due to lymphoma, he couldn’t take his eyes off me. I listen to this song every day as part of my mourning process; when I have recovered, I shall get another hound. Thank you for this song outlining how I feel.
I'm so sorry. I feel your grief. I had to have my beloved pit bull of 14 years put down on Dec 13th,nothing could be done to help her,,and I'm STILL grieving. The night she died I stayed up all night, listening to this song, drinking Jamesons, and crying. Her name was Rooster and this summer I'll be getting a Rooster tattoo..... I know what it's like to lose a child,my 13 yr old son died 11 years ago of kidney failure. And although nothing compares to losing a child, and there's a literal hole in my Heart with his name,,losing a cherished and beloved dog sure comes close........when you feel strong enough, listen to Maggie's Song by Chris Stapleton. And have a box of tissues handy......🌻
@Yogi Bear The Pit I lost in December, the one I still have now,and my 14 yr old Dobie who I lost last April were all rescues. I look at my one remaining dog,Nala, and think, yes,I saved your life, but you saved mine. I fostered then adopted her about 2 years after my son died and I was a sinking ship... Thank you for working with these dogs, ugghh,I'm crying now lol..... And yes,I truly believe that my Rooster has joined up with my son, they were buddies in life, and are buddies again in the afterlife....
@ Vivienne Clarke: I thank you for your kind words. My Gordie (named for Gordie Howe [long story]) was truly a part of the family towards the end. He was very bright, highly trained/empathetic & worked to protect me from my epileptic fits. His lymphoma took him in 3days; I couldn’t bear to see him suffer. People in the neighborhood didn’t like seeing me without a dog though. They thought I was only half a person. My mother and I don’t drive so friends of ours took us to the Humane Society. I only rescue dogs; I couldn’t give a s**t about purebreds & would rather give a nice home to someone who truly needs it. I HAD a Walker Coon Hound & really wanted one again; there wasn’t anyone even resembling my Gordie (physically) but I found a very sweet, extremely handsome (dark brindle), brilliant, mischievous, affectionate, counter surfer extraordinaire who believes EVERYONE exists to pet him. He is 5 years old (I prefer adult dogs; Gordie was 7 when I adopted him), loves everyone, and is in “discussions” with me atm about which side of the bed is HIS and which is MINE. I named him “Moritz” after my best friend in Germany’s son (age 15)-but only after getting express permission to do so. I’ve never had children before so my animals have always been my children. THIS dog identified me as “mama” in under 5 mins when we went to the “meet & greet room”; I am also gradually teaching him German (not just commands). I had another dog, Hannelore, who was completely bilingual-so I know it’s possible if the dog is smart enough (I was a high school German teacher before I became disabled). As for whether the dogs I’ve had are in heaven, well I’m an agnostic. I was raised Lutheran but the whole heaven/hell concept rather weirds me out a bit. I’d like to believe they’re in a nice place-but I don’t know and I’m not comfortable with a lot of the rest of that. I just comfort myself with the fact that I alleviated Gordies suffering and Moritz is lying next to me as I write this.
I cry every time I hear this song. Man that thought me everything and inspired me to be everything that I am today. He left us this november 14th. Love you, dad.
Mezmerizer 9 This song is so meaningful to me too as I lost my dad this year in March so I feel that pain you’ve got 🥺😢, R,I,P, dad you’ll always be in our hearts, miss you so much every single day love you soooooo much,
Sorry for your loss. We just lost an immediate family member too on Nov 16 and this was his favorite band. He had a rose tattoo with the name of the love of his life. 💔
My father died also in November and so it has to be, this song gets more power, im sad and proud the same time. May our fathers souls rest in peace. Cheers ;)
My Dad died last week and my Mum died last year. They were both in there late 70s. They both loved tattos and irish culture. Especially american irish culture. So please give me a like and bring them back to life. God rest there Souls
Sorry for your loss my mother in law who was like my 2nd mom died 3 years ago she was from Boston. Great lady think about her every time I hear this. Amen
grew up with the murphys and always asked for ‘the boston song’ in the car along with my dad putting this one on, i’ve always liked this song but my dad passed a couple years ago and now it has more meaning to me, four more years and i’ll get a rose tattoo for him. greatest song in history and nobody can change my mind
Almost 8 years my grandma's been gone. She was my best friend for many years, and she was a proud Irish woman. It's been almost a year since I've gotten a tattoo to honor her memory; a sapphire (her birthstone) in the middle of a purple rose (her favorite flower).
This is the most Irish of songs, a true masterpiece. Luke Kelly would have be proud to have written it. The dark spirit of Ireland lives in you.. a Murphy from Ringsend!!
I have a tattoo in honor of my grandmother. She was the biggest supporter in my life, and I miss her everyday. She accepted me after I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. All my odd habits and OCD's she didn't care. I'm going to get tattoos soon to honor my dogs and cat that passed away. They saved me more times than I care to count.
Sounds like the perfect reason to do it. But Schizophrenia isn't the worst thing that could happen to you. Comes with its own special challenges, but treatment works reasonably well. Not a stigma anymore. Don't worry too much, just do what you need to feel decent.
@@lyleschoepflin5444 (I'm french, sorry for the mistakes.) One of my relative has bien diagnosed with shizophrenia, and my best friend with bipolarity. While I canno't speak in their names, I do know what it can be to live with someone with a "mental ilness" (probably not the best term to use, sorry if it offends you it was not the purpose). While it can be a "long journey to understand'", in the end your point of view will never be less important. Yes most of the people canno't understand how you feel, what you think... But in the end, it is not you that should adapt yourself but our societies (the plural form here is important). Be free my friend, do not stand alone and then, I hope, you shall find the assistance you need. (It not a statement against medication or pro-medication, I'm not a specialist. All I know is that people in your situation or alike-situation "need" to have friends or relative to support you. And if you can't, well I hope that in your coutry you can call associationns or collective organisations who knows what they talk about) I wish you the best, and if not do not forget that you are never alone
@@Soapman29 I take no offense, I have a pretty great support group around me. It took me some time but I have some really great life savers. Merci beaucoup.
I absolutely love this song! It's on my daily play list along with a bunch of other favorites of these awsome soles! They have literally helped me through life. Let's just say they have been very therapeutic! Thank you for being one of my very favorite bands. I have loved them for many moons. I'm 49 years old & I love them as much as I did when I first recall listening to years ago. Correction I love them even more, sincerely Lu . ❤️🙌🙏🤟
I hear this and think of my Da. He had a rose tattoo on his left forearm, to cover an older, less savoury tattoo from his younger years. When I asked him why he got it when I was about 5, he said "For you." I giggled, because he'd had it at least 10 years by then but, when I heard this song the first time, many years later, I understood with amazing clarity what he meant. "Signed and sealed in blood, I would die for you"... he's been gone 10 years now. This song is a bittersweet tribute to my first love and biggest hero whenever I hear it.
Immer wieder ausgezeichnetes Lied❤ Danke! Wir haben zu wenige Leute die sich gegen dieses Drexproblem namens "Birnen" erheben und wie gesagt: ALLE MITTEL SIND KORREKT.
My daughter’s favorite song!! She love’s to sing this song everytime we cook together and she’s only 9yrs. old. Thank you DKM for this wonderful song! 🔥
So mine lol ways up with the kids lol mind u I was banged up when stood mate showed me da Murphy's and since then a constant in the music collection lol
I’m not Irish, I’m not American, I’m not from Boston, I don’t have any tattoo... but when I listen this song I dream into conquer the 7 seas with my beer
I am from Russia, from the glorious city of St. Petersburg. I am 44 years old and I !till remember their 98 album "Do or Die". Damn, it's a great band and great music. Good health to everyone and a case of dark beer!
Everything about this song reminds me of my memory of my mother. She was likely the toughest most loving and forgiving person I ever knew. Sharon Rose Cunningham.
My grandmother passed away back in February of 2015, and was of a very proud Irish heritage that she passed along to her children, and their children. She was of the old school, but, even she had a tattoo of a long-stemmed, red rose that she got later on in life. This song reminds me of her every time I hear it, and it's hard not to cry when I hear this song for that reason. I'm sorry to say that I only recently became a fan of the incredible Dropkick Murphys, and so I have only recently learned of this song, but I have become utterly obsessed with this song. LoL This song does, unfortunately, remind me that she's not with us anymore, but I know I'll see her again, so, don't feel sorry for either of us. LoL With tears streaming down my face as I write this, I just want to express how much I love this song. It seems that we with Irish blood in our veins carry a constant sadness with us that seems revived with every hearing of songs that reflect the lands and loves of that great emerald isle that bore us all, directly and indirectly. But, the strength that resides in that same blood is a shield at times against that sadness and the sorrows that come from simply being an inhabitant of this cruel earth and the atrocities we as humans perpetuate onto it. I am proud to be a child of Ireland, and to be counted amongst those aligned with that great nation and people, if for no other reason than the fact that we make some of the best music on the planet. LoL So, yeah - I love this song. :)
KamikaziRainDrop My dad passed away few years ago. I know what it feels like, at first it's like a punch to your chest and you cry a lot but after few years you can think her with a huge smile on your face cuz you remember how much you really love her and how many great moments you shared together. And I also almost cry every time when I listen to this song cuz it's so beautiful and it brings great memories to my mind. After few years you can listen to this song and be sad but also very very happy at the same time. This reminds my about my dad but just think those happy moments so you really can enjoy the song. Btw sorry for my bad English cuz I'm Finnish and because I'm only thirteen I have studied English only three years. And I wanna say that you clearly loved and still love your grandma very much. And I also love this song :)
Double-T Your English is great! Don't apologize. LoL And, thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry to hear about your father, as I can not imagine what that must be like. And, you're right - we can think about the good moments in life that we had with them. We all have to go sometime, but that knowledge doesn't make the passing any easier. However, I'm thankful to be able to look back and smile for having known her. :)
+KamikaziRainDrop bro i lost most of family in the war iam always happy for them cuz they finally found peace never be sad be excited cuz tomorrow we might join them too
Lyrics: The pictures tell the story This life had many shades I'd wake up every morning and before I'd start each day I'd take a drag from last nights cigarette That smoldered in its tray Down a little something and then be on my way I traveled far and wide And laid this head in many ports I was guided by a compass I saw beauty to the north I drew the tales of many lives And wore the faces of my own I had these memories all around me So I wouldn't be alone Some may be from showing up Others are from growing up Sometimes I was so messed up and didn't have a clue I ain't winning no one over I wear it just for you I've got your name written here In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo I've got your name written here In a rose tattoo This ones for the mighty sea Mischief, gold and piracy This ones for the man that raised me Taught me sacrifice and bravery This ones for our favorite game Black and gold, we wave the flag This ones for my family name With pride I wear it to the grave Some may be from showing up Others are from growing up Sometimes I was so messed up and didn't have a clue I ain't winning no one over I wear it just for you I've got your name written here In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo I've got your name written here, In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo I've got your name written here In a rose tattoo This one means the most to me It stays here for eternity A ship that always stays the course An anchor for my every choice A rose that shines down from above I signed and sealed these words in blood I heard them once, sung in a song It played again and we sang along You'll always be here with me Even if you're gone You'll always have my love Our memory will live on Some may be from showing up Others are from growing up Sometimes I was so messed up and didn't have a clue I ain't winning no one over I wear it just for you I've got your name written here In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo I've got your name written here, In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo With pride I'll wear it to the grave for you In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo I've got your name written here, In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo In a rose tattoo Signed and sealed in blood I would die for you
I met a man who tattooed a rose tattoo on me. If only he knew I needed him more then he needed me. My life was broken when I met him I wanted him to stay but he always had leave. If only he knew he was the reason I am still alive. His friendship gave me a reason. 🌹
I love this band, this song and the line “I keep these memories all around me so I wouldn’t be alone.” My room is absolutely covered with photos of my loved ones and that line perfectly describes WHY I do and have always done this. A lovely and catchy tune 🎼🤘🏻
I'm at a low point in my life and i don't know what i'm supposed to do. At 36 y/o i'm lost, and confused. Music has always been a guiding star and i hope it leads me the right way once again.
Timeless....therein lies a trick. Instead of expecting something and then randomly having the universe destroy one’s expectations, you should, Epicurus says, lower your expectations so that most of what can happen will be better than what you expect.
I know its not a rose, but i have my dogs paw print tattoo. He’s 12, had him since he was a puppy. Spent more hours with him than i can count to. I moved away almost a year ago and had to leave him with my mum. But the lyrics “This one means the most to me, It stays here for eternity” and “You'll always be there with me, Even if you're gone, You'll always have my love, Your memory will live on” really do get to me. It’s been a long and lonely 4 months in lockdown. Hearing this song has made me book an emergency holiday home. Can’t wait to see my woofer. ❤️
I have never managed to find a stronger mortal bind than a human-human and human-dog bond. My maltese is currently 2 years old, I have invested a bit too much love in him (if there is even a thing such as “too much love”) and I am already thinking about the day he dies. A piece of my soul would be torn. Kiss your woofer and love him to eternity :)
A friend tatooist who died recently got a lot of tatoos (as you can imagine) ; I asked him why a rose; he replied that on mother's day, he came to see his mum and told her: "that's for you, better to buy you some roses once a year". Well done, Ludo.
I’m leaving this comment here so when someone likes it I will get a reminder of this song.
Heres another reminder
😊
Again one reminder😏
Nice
Love it my brother showed me this song and now it's ours 😁
Not a sailor. Not Irish. Have no tattoos. Just a broken & lost 35 y.o. man. But just every word in this song resonates deep inside of me. It took like 50+ times to learn to listen to this without shedding a tear or two. Absolutely favourite song of all time. When I’m down, I remember how many views this video has. For me it means, that I’m way not alone like this. It helps. Thanks, Dropkick Murphys, for this feeling. Thanks for your great music.

So sorry for your loss. I hope your brother is at peace.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's beautiful to have this song and amazing memories to look at fondly. 💕🌹
I’m sorry for your loss but i hope he’s at peace if I knew him I would have a rose tattoo as well and I don’t even know you
This song will always be a reminder of 2018.

Love you, dad.

grew up with the murphys and always asked for ‘the boston song’ in the car along with my dad putting this one on, i’ve always liked this song but my dad passed a couple years ago and now it has more meaning to me, four more years and i’ll get a rose tattoo for him. greatest song in history and nobody can change my mind
I’m sure he’ll be smiling down on you when you get it.
Sorry for your loss brother!

Rose tattoo is an iconic Aussie band as well btw
Almost 8 years my grandma's been gone. She was my best friend for many years, and she was a proud Irish woman. It's been almost a year since I've gotten a tattoo to honor her memory; a sapphire (her birthstone) in the middle of a purple rose (her favorite flower).
+Shinbu1128 Sorry for your loss, but thats a lovely thing to do :) I bet its beautiful.
+Perid0tStar Thank you. That's very kind of you to say.
Sorry for your loss man, but I'm glad to hear that you've honored her memory.
+Shinbu1128 Irish all the way!!!!!!!
+Shinbu1128 atta boy ladie!
@@rebel4466 I was 15 when I was diagnosed and when I told people they would step back like I was horribly contagious.
@@lyleschoepflin5444 (I'm french, sorry for the mistakes.)
One of my relative has bien diagnosed with shizophrenia, and my best friend with bipolarity.
And if you can't, well I hope that in your coutry you can call associationns or collective organisations who knows what they talk about)
I wish you the best, and if not do not forget that you are never alone
@@Soapman29 I take no offense, I have a pretty great support group around me. It took me some time but I have some really great life savers. Merci beaucoup.
Amen my friend! Got an anchor with a tiger lily for my Gpa, he was a Navy Corpsman during Korea & Vietnam, awesome man.
"this one's for my family name with pride I'll wear it to the grave"

"And this one means the most to me, it stays here for all eternity" was also pretty cool.

i got ur name written on my ass- in a rose tattoo. good to have a sense of humour- Brisbane Australia- a big Dropkick Murphys fan!

I hear this and think of my Da. He had a rose tattoo on his left forearm, to cover an older, less savoury tattoo from his younger years. When I asked him why he got it when I was about 5, he said "For you."
I giggled, because he'd had it at least 10 years by then but, when I heard this song the first time, many years later, I understood with amazing clarity what he meant. "Signed and sealed in blood, I would die for you"... he's been gone 10 years now. This song is a bittersweet tribute to my first love and biggest hero whenever I hear it.
My 5 year old daughter sings this at school! She even taught it to a few of the kids in her class. So proud!
Laura Sigsworth its a beautiful song

LoL
This song does, unfortunately, remind me that she's not with us anymore, but I know I'll see her again, so, don't feel sorry for either of us. LoL
With tears streaming down my face as I write this, I just want to express how much I love this song. LoL
So, yeah - I love this song.
LoL
And, thank you for your kind words.
I'm sorry to hear about your father, as I can not imagine what that must be like. And, you're right - we can think about the good moments in life that we had with them.
We all have to go sometime, but that knowledge doesn't make the passing any easier. However, I'm thankful to be able to look back and smile for having known her. :)

Lyrics:
The pictures tell the story
This life had many shades
I'd wake up every morning and before I'd start each day
I'd take a drag from last nights cigarette
That smoldered in its tray
Down a little something and then be on my way
I traveled far and wide
And laid this head in many ports
I was guided by a compass
I saw beauty to the north
I drew the tales of many lives
And wore the faces of my own
I had these memories all around me
So I wouldn't be alone
Some may be from showing up
Others are from growing up
Sometimes I was so messed up and didn't have a clue
I ain't winning no one over
I wear it just for you
I've got your name written here
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
I've got your name written here
In a rose tattoo
This ones for the mighty sea
Mischief, gold and piracy
This ones for the man that raised me
Taught me sacrifice and bravery
This ones for our favorite game
Black and gold, we wave the flag
This ones for my family name
With pride I wear it to the grave
Some may be from showing up
Others are from growing up
Sometimes I was so messed up and didn't have a clue
I ain't winning no one over
I wear it just for you
I've got your name written here
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
I've got your name written here,
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
I've got your name written here
In a rose tattoo
This one means the most to me
It stays here for eternity
A ship that always stays the course
An anchor for my every choice
A rose that shines down from above
I signed and sealed these words in blood
I heard them once, sung in a song
It played again and we sang along
You'll always be here with me
Even if you're gone
You'll always have my love
Our memory will live on
Some may be from showing up
Others are from growing up
Sometimes I was so messed up and didn't have a clue
I ain't winning no one over
I wear it just for you
I've got your name written here
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
I've got your name written here,
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
With pride I'll wear it to the grave for you
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
I've got your name written here,
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
In a rose tattoo
Signed and sealed in blood I would die for you

The song just randomly popped into my head tonight after not listening to in 9 years!
Shit is timeless!
Same here but 10 years
@@NYO-CLAN timeless stuff!
Timeless....therein lies a trick. Instead of expecting something and then randomly having the universe destroy one’s expectations, you should, Epicurus says, lower your
expectations so that most of what can happen will be better than what you expect.
Good for you, I hope you do. 🍺 Cheers.
I have never managed to find a stronger mortal bind than a human-human and human-dog bond.
My maltese is currently 2 years old, I have invested a bit too much love in him (if there is even a thing such as “too much love”) and I am already thinking about the day he dies. A piece of my soul would be torn.
