I just (today) did a lot of extreme off-roading in my non-modified, heavily loaded 2WD Renault Kangoo maxi 😂 The thing is an absolute beast, although I will do another check of my underside again 😅 Absolutely amazing that is. I was forced to turn back after the hiking trail I was on had alternating rocks that were over 3 foot high in a corner in a dip with an incline of 65°-75° after it, on a piece of track that was not 2 inches wider than my car's tires (not even the outside, at some points, I would have had to hang over the edge of the hill with half my tire at some points.) Remember also this was in the corner (90° corner) I would have definitely beached my van on those rocks, and if not gone over the edge and be forced to roll back off the cliff. But hey, at least I had 2 great off-road adventures today. One around noon, and one in the dark this evening, on the track I'm watching this video from in my cozy bed. Much love from the outbacks of Spain, it was a blast watching you guys ❤ Also very funny that I only found this entire series today and just watched it all. (I didn't even search for off roading stuff)
Alex's channel has moved to the more premium cars, TDC fills the shit box gap left behind, and Jack and Ethan are doing their travel videos which I didn't know I needed. Love these 3 channels

laugh at rover and the k-series all you want, but it handled like a champ right until the end, with zero engine issues, unlike the scenic who was already halfway dead in the middle of the video 😂
Clearly didn't have plastic dowls in the head lol. The R3 chassis is a great little car for hooing around in. Get an l series diesel version and they nice tuned.
I don't understand why people still make such a big deal of the K Series head gaskets 20+ years on. Provided the head hasn't been warped from overheating, a competent DIY mechanic can have the gasket changed in under a day for about £100. There's plenty of examples of flawed engines from companies that had much larger R&D budgets. Ford Ecoboost wet belts, JLR Ingenium, Cadillac Northstar, BMW S65/S85 bearings etc.
Get the diesel version tho, the torque is worth it. Don't forget to look for rust beneath the plastic cladding. The rest is generally very reliable, had a normal one for three years, the parts are cheap.

Proof you don't need 4x4 to go greenlaning. Was recently part of a group that built a car in the same vein, in under 48hrs. We did the Strata Florida in Wales, with a Mk3 MX-5! Not only got to the greenlanes but completed them and drove back home afterwards!

Should I go and buy a Rover and remove the doors? Should I take my kids out on that off-road track in a 4x4 Scenic? Which affordable FWD car would be best for trying to jump over dirtramps?
Best video yet, just great fun. Ben a great 3rd man on the channel, Will and Edwin really settling in to lead roles. The 4 channels if you include v2 which could basically be Taylor made channel, all kicking out great testosterone based entertainment (Im still not sure what all the gear channel is supposed to be and definitely the least likeable pairing)
There was something so wholesome about you two playing it with cars and those handbrake turns were great! The Rover maybe as boring as it is worthless but fair play they really had to try to kill it
