Next video: our friends at Febi Bilstien and TireStreets UK have sent us these amazing parts, Tom Lenthal will install them and then we're taking both bikes to the Nurburgring
I love the fact this channel isn't automotive, two mates who took a risk and now spend their days making awesome content and lifelong memories. Im here for it.
Totally agree… RUclips is saturated with automotive content, be it factual, instructive or fun and lighthearted. The lads are braving it by going a completely different direction, and going a bit wacky. Just hope they can keep coming up with ideas for very watchable content.
A little context on the bikes in the canals. The canals are where we grow our bikes. That's why there are more bikes than people. They are slowy replacing us.
Jeffery hoogland is a proper catch for this video!! Also that Peugeot would’ve been a lot of people’s dream bike when it was new, that was a good find…. Apart from the years of neglect since then
These boys do a lot better than TDC. I wouldn’t compare these two channels. TDC just buy scrap cars, slap on some sponsored parts and then abandone them as no one would buy them in that state.
Lads you walked for 24 hours, you then cycled 90km, you know what comes next. Enjoy your swim across the channel to complete the triathlon of bad decisions🏊
This was just great! Please don't throw that Peugeot away! I suggest Ethan buys a british bicycle such as a Raleigh, Dawes from the 70's or so and collaborate with @BikeItUK to help you guys fixing it (and add gears in the case of Jack's 🤣) and then maybe do a round like London to Scotland or something. Add some racks if you need, some tents. I'd love to watch that!
How exactly did that conversation go down? "Hey Mr. double Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist, would you like to review a couple of old €100 bikes on RUclips?" "...Sure!"
As a Dutchman, I approve this video. (Oh and the street value of those bikes is about 40€, but in shops around the center of Amsterdam you pay at least double, esp. non natives).
What a great channel this is turning into 👏 completely different direction to the other car throttle guys, and it works perfectly with both your personalities 😁 not one video has been less than 10/10 effort either.
As a Dutch person. I am impressed with both of you. We use 2nd hand bikes to commute 20min not long rides like that. The mental strength is impressive 😮
That 70's Peugeot bike is actually pretty nice! Shame that it does not have it's original gears. Although a lot of people do convert it to a single gear.
This may very well be the greatest suspense adventure story ever told. As a long distance cyclist, this was f@cking proud and brilliant. I spit up my beer laughing, thank you both. Keep those bikes forever.
Lads, what do you mean don't put bikes into the canal? That's their natural habitat Every year, they swim up from the Atlantic and breed in those canals. All the bikes you see are locally sourced, and fished from those very canals.
Loving this one. I think you should fix the bikes up, ride them the entire journey back out to Amsterdam and gift them back to the shop to re sell, or to someone who could really use it. But this instead of the hook of holland ferry, you take the dover to calais route and ride that journey. Im actually planning this for mental health month in May next year if you 2 would like to join a few of us.
Best channel yet! Keep it up boys! How do you feel about spending the same as you did (including maintenance) on your Porsche and buying gravel bikes - and then riding to Inverie? Keep it up. You guys rock.
Walking, Cycling, if you need an advice on when you do your RYA Day Skipper practical week: I did mine in Southampton a few years ago. Lovely week in March with sunshine on Monday and Friday. We didn't leave the harbour on Wednesday...
As a Dutchman i can tell anyone here, in Amsterdam a 100 euro's will probably get you up to 4 bikes if you buy them off a junkie. You'll never be sure if he or she was the rightfull owner, but hey... Also i think this video should've covered the whole trip from Amsterdam back to the unit (well, autoalex and TDC HQ but that's fine.).
This channels arc is quite a thing: "Japan! Iceland!" Ethan and Jack: Yay!!! The next 6 months: Noooooo! Are we sure they're not victims of exploitation??
I recently did a 24h race from Vlissingen to Den Helder, which followed a large portion of your route between Zandvoort and Hoek van Holland, although in the opposite direction. It's great to see what the route through the dunes looks like in daylight, beautiful! We also passed a deer at only a couple of meters on the path you did your drag race on, only realising it was a deer seconds after.
@@cyclingonandoffroad Dan zijn we goed weggekomen dat'ie een paar meter naast het fietspad stond in plaats van erop 😳 Hopelijk is het goed afgelopen voor je maat!
Great video! I did exactly this about 18 months ago, except it was Amsterdam-Dublin. I took the train for a good bit of it though. I think I bought my bike in the shop at 1:18 . Pro cyclist opinion was excellent too. Keep it coming lads, it's a great channel.
I own 5 different bikes: E-Bike (Trekking), Vintage Racebike, MTB, fatbike and a fixie (or Singlespeed, depends on how it's set up). The cheap af fixie is by far my favorite. It's quick, nimble and gets me from a to b reliably and requires 0 maintenance. Best bang for your buck IMO.
Well, it's time for Jack to go completely bonkers with trying to figure out French threads and other French specific components like seatposts, stems, even bottom brackets for that Peugeot! 😂😂
TBH guys I’ve pretty much stopped watching every video of your erstwhile channel mates, but All the Gear is just brilliant. Even if the car content these days is 0%. Well done to you both. Every ATG video just makes my day ❤
Every single week you guys knock it out the park. I look forward to your videos so much. And WTAF was Jeffrey doing in this video. Absolutely incredible.
Cracking video and idea... BUT why didn't you also cycle back to AutoAlex HQ when back in England... Top Gear style as a race - that would make for some excellent content! :)
This was so good 😂 loved it all. My guess on getting a Jeffrey Hoogland feature is that he's a genuine fan of the channel and of you both since the CT days. He's got a couple of hundred subscribers only, and a 17 year old youtube account.. my man's been watching content since he was a teenager, just like me. Except he made it to olympic gold medals in the meantime!!
Keep it up lads 🎉 nice to see such varied content. But it’s great to see the both of you doing things out side of cars. Would be great to hear you on more of the podcasts.
Would love to see you fixing and modding your €100 bikes in a video with a nice ride maybe in Wales or Scotland but that's just a suggestion, subbed thinking this would be a car channel and I am so so glad it's not this has to be one of my favourite channels now you have the top gear challenge but without cars and I love it
I once cycled back to the UK from Malmo with a bunch of friends (two of whom "commandeered" bikes). Took us 7 days of leisurely cycling. We did get caught up in Amsterdam for an extra day. For relaxation purposes of course.
man what timing! just finished the TDC podcast thinking 'i wonder if all the gear are gonna upload soon?' lo and behold, you uploaded just as i started the podcast! waheyyy
I can't really believe, being a massive car guy, that I look forward to these random challenges as much as most of the car RUclipsr vídeos I watch, keep up the good work lads! And finally... A vídeo with some actual gears, all three of them... For the most of the challenge at least.
Ive had a few Peugeot bikes before, all a little newer than the 70s but they weren't bad bikes once they were working properly. I sold them to old people that got an instant nostalgia kick when they saw the bikes
You guys are legends, Alex splurges on a Porsche, then gets you guys to do zero cost videos, which are very entertaining. Keep up the very fine content.
Each of those bikes had to have a tune up before going out the shop - Definitely adds 30 euro value IMO at least. To me that has to include giving at least 50% wear used tires n such.
Loving this content!!!! What about using these bikes to cycle from central London to the sea or something similar? Also, please revisit the canoeing to the sea challenge. Love this and genuinely can’t wait for Wednesdays to roll around.
What the actual f, as a massive cycling fan the last thing I expected from this video was to see Jeffrey Hoogland! Keep up the good work, love the change of content from CT! Top stuff
I think I had that Peugeot bike . . . in the 70s. I love that these videos seem to just be going "how can we mentally and physically destroy ourselves?" and running with it.
At first when you announced this channel i was a little disappointed that it was not about cars, But now i genuinely enjoy watching and look forward for every video
I'd love to see you boys visit some of the non-touristy parts of Brasil, if your budget would allow. I'd suggest Curitiba so you can see somewhere that isn't geared entirely towards servicing gringos but is still beautiful ;)
Should of done the challenge involving smoking a spliff each for every 5 miles you pedal, you're in the right place for it after all, and maybe a muffin each for every 10 miles 😁👍
Biked Holland with my mate at college, we accidentally gave ourselves this challenge in reverse on day 1 with a weeks worth of camping equipment on a 90’s Claude butler, it was hard enough then I couldn’t do it with the body I’ve grown for myself since
Just found your channel after being a regular watcher of Car Throttle years ago. Great stuff! And to add to some of the other comments - how the hell did you get Jeffrey Hoogland in this?!!
Wouldn’t make 5 min down the road anywhere in UK without someone witha a machete trying to take bike off you🤦♂️ Love these challenges you set for yourself. Should do Christmas special where subscribers choose a challenge for you 🤣
It was an honour guys! I’m really glad you went for this challenge! 🎉 Respect for that!
Thank you for not destroying them before we set off
TY for taking the time with the lads

Ngl the peugeot would be the perfect city bike for me kind off jealous they got it for that cheap hahaha

@@AJTrain yeah they both make autoalex look boring recently
Not exactly hard. Autoalex = we bought a rusty mini/mx5/BMW and took it to the Nurburgring ad nauseum

As a Dutchman, I approve this video. (Oh and the street value of those bikes is about 40€, but in shops around the center of Amsterdam you pay at least double, esp. non natives).
yeah second hand bike prices are mental in the randstad, the best bet is to go on marktplaats, which will probably be a stolen bike, but affordable
That Peugeot race bike looks absolutely lovely
That 70's Peugeot bike is actually pretty nice! Shame that it does not have it's original gears. Although a lot of people do convert it to a single gear.
what would be the reason to converting it to a single gear? I can't imagine any upsides aside from a negligible reduction in weight
This may very well be the greatest suspense adventure story ever told. As a long distance cyclist, this was f@cking proud and brilliant. I spit up my beer laughing, thank you both. Keep those bikes forever.
Really REALLY enjoying your content, guys. So refreshing from the usual guff that gets thrown out here.

That's their natural habitat
Every year, they swim up from the Atlantic and breed in those canals.

Hoogerland is a legend! Never thought I’d see a cycling related video. Love it
I love how you guys moved from cars to something more relatable: cheap holidays!
Pffff I’m in love with that Peugeot! Exactly the sort of crap I like to buy on marketplace to ride to the pub once a decade
