This week, we attempt to walk as many miles as we can in a 24 hour period. Will we make it the full time? Will our legs carry us that far?

must be shite as you went to Donuts not long after!
Got news for you Florida gets 37 degrees and rains too
All The Gear is a channel where 2 mates act on Pub Thoughts.
😂
100%
And i am all here for it
Yes! And I love it because it means that i dont have to haha
Seemed like a good idea at the time😂
“Why didn’t we do this in Florida”
Here’s some reasons not to from a Floridian:
1. It rains all the time
2. It’s always hot
3. The lowest humidity on record since 1852 is 87%
4. You’ll most likely be shot or arrested by 6 hours in
5. Cute little alligators
6. Literally no sidewalks
7. Trucks bigger than Parliament
8. Hot
9. Humid
10. A new hurricane every week
Definitely number 6 for me. Florida does not have 47 miles of continuous sidewalk for you to walk along. Mix it with number 7 and you be dead.
The humidity it total bullshit🤣 the humidity in Florida today was 55
@onlineo2263 yep the car dependent infrastructure will literally kill you.
Florida is a terrible place
@@Fun4allchildren soooo we saying its not always humid af? really? lets keep it real lol😂
You 2 need to buy mopeds and do london to Edinburgh
50cc challenge would be fantastic
As mentioned 50cc mopeds and a budget to do a 70cc conversion with a few small mods. Will do 60mph plus.
125cc, I'd say
@@SwaghettiYoloneses why on earth would you want to make it easier for them? :)
Yes
Awesome! You chaps need a V2 channel so we can watch the aftermath of how your legs are. We need bonus content. Favourite youtube channel right now. Thanks guys. Your pain is our entertainment
Could not agree more with this comment!!! Would LOVE a V2 channel.
How they coats got so dry quickly after rain. Too much obvious
Jacks one liners get me every time
He's so quick, even when he's totally exhausted.
Haha I was cracking up
It was the "Jesus Christ, I was almost ON that bus for a second" as the bus nailed past them, that got me chuckling
Cum to London had me almost spit my tea out 😂
*"It's just the four swans, actually"*
Almost missed that golden reference. 😂
I've always loved how funny Ethan finds Jack. I mean, he's a funny dude, but Ethan cracking up is still a joy.
No, Jack is a Joy!
Now we dont even have a quid left for a budget lmao
according to alex its their own choice, but idk if i believe that tbh lol
Better Health to the rescue
They spent all their money on the surplus camping video lol
Leaked info: next week - How many hours you can survive without any food
Thats what happens when you spend all your redundancy money, on trips to Iceland and Japan.
Two guys walking for 24 hours, I'm loving it. This channel is so refreshing and different, certainly one of my faves.
Ive just watched nearly 20 minutes about two blokes going for a walk. The highlights were the bit where they saw some swans and when they didn’t go into a Travelodge.
This channel has no right to be this entertaining!
I love the randomness of All The Gear. Quickly became my favorite channel.
What's random about it? They decide to try to do something and try to do it. They succeed or don't. One of two possible outcomes. It's not random in the least.
@@samuelgarrod8327 you just described how random it is
@@samuelgarrod8327 don’t be a petulant child!
@@samuelgarrod8327 It is the randomness of the things they try that make the channel fun. The possible outcomes are not the randomness.
How they coats got so dry quickly after rain. Too much obvious
I tried the Thames Path Challenge this year. 100km from Putney Bridge to Henley-on-Thames in 24 hours. I made it to the half-way point at Runnymede in 12 hours. I gave up at that point, my boots were broken and so was my spirit. I couldn't face walking through the night. Well done for carrying on. The Long Distance Walkers' Association does a 100 mile walk every year. Just in case you fancy it...
I have never done more than 20k 😮
I know there are all the jokes about the lack of budget and it is funny, but these are genuinely the videos I love the most
No videographer either just the two of them.
The more I watch these two the more I realise how well they bounce off each other - Jack comes out with the Witty comments, Ethan genuinely caught off guard. Its brilliant! Jack definitely has that early 2000's Secondary School Humour and Im here for it - so glad you worked this spin off, Bravo
Didn't think your budget could get any smaller, well played.
Next week- how long can we sit on concrete without taking a break
It was a bigger budget, but ulez took it just dropping them off
Well they did spend £5 each on a doughnut, and stopped for Nando's later.
Love this low budget content, so relatable, ignore the haters
@@MN-ke5uu your so right dude
Love the fact that this channel is just 2 mates enjoying doing stuff...breath of fresh air from the £30k 'shitboxes' 😅
They’ve not done any videos where it looks like they enjoyed it!
@@misterLukeGbut we are😂
a break from car vertical ads is nice also -
Can you imagine any of the other AutoAlex metaverse characters putting up with these challenges? 😅 Somebody give Jack and Ethan a medal! 🏅
The others are the ones who need the exercise!
It'd be hilarious to have a All The Gear challenge with the AA and TDC hosts too
They aren't putting up with them. They choose to do them for content.
Alex would be insufferable to watch for even 10secs if he were in it
Is this where i recognised these from?
We can all agree Jack & Ethan are the true high mileage heros
This is what I come here for - big extravagant adventures that no other channel can match. Keep it up lads!
There are now organized 100 km walks with a set route and a time limit of 24 hours.
I think it helps and motivates enormously if you have a planned route - ideally with some defined exit points where you might catch a bus or hitch a ride every couple of hours.
I just though which route I might try in the UK if I wanted to see how much I could manage in 24 hours, so I had my hiking app calculate a route from central Oxford to central London. It has the advantage of going slightly downhill much of the route and following the Grand Union Canal, which looks like the long and pretty undisturbed stretch of path you'd need.
Plus, if you run out of energy or your blisters overcome you during the last hours, you're in London and not somewhere out in the sticks.
As a postie who walks 12 miles a day the key to keeping your feet from killing you are insoles. Not shoes or socks but insoles. Proper walking/hiking insoles. they will save you so much pain. My current faves are Sorbothane Cush N Step. Can be had for less than £12!
But awesome effort here guys, that has taken some guts.
I don't think there's an insole on this planet that would save you doing 75 k. That's crazy territory.
Totally agree, I walk about 12 miles per shift in steel toe capped boots and the insoles are the key to easing the pain
Or wearing shoes designed for walking AKA walking shoes. Brooks makes good shoes with the technology built into the outer part of the soles. It's what I got to wear for my flat feet or else I am in pain from standing or walking.
postie here too. 46 miles is insane. but yeah shoes are key, hiking shoes are not great when walking on the pavement and they're too heavy. you can get insole liners too.
Keep the weight off your legs and on your body.
My feet are too wide. Last time I tried insoles they just cut into me and made things worse!
I live on the isle of man, and once a year you can sign up for the Parish Walk. Which is a walk round the island, through all the parishes. You get 24 hours to complete it, and if you don't reach certain parishes in the time limit you can't go on. First one is 19 miles in 5 hours, 34 miles in 9 hours. I've only managed the 34 milestone. But know alot of people who've finished it more than once. Nice video lads, come do the Parish at some point 🇮🇲💚💚💚
5:37 “What if I lick your lips” absolute classic 😂👏
Ill be honest, when the channel started I thought the videos felt a little forced. You guys have really settled in now and just doing stuff that you want to do but more importantly, just being yourselves. It was a great video this one, couldn’t help but smile at the end with your relief. Keep up the good work guys!
Was honestly worried when they started this channel. Couldn’t work out if the lack of focus’d topic (I.e cars) would work. But there is a focus, the Boys! Really enjoying all these daft challenges.
Massive respect to you both for doing this. I don't know what training you really did for this, but walking 24 hours is a real achievement. Thanks so much to you both for the inspiration.
Great video. Not a BMW in sight what a breath of fresh air.
And no broken down cars either. Oh, wait, that was kind of redundant, I guess.
I got PTSD when the Z4 drove past at 17:03
Glad it's not just me. haha
In the army in Switzerland you do a 100 km (60 miles) walk in officers school. I did that in 22 hours. But of course we lived up to that, over several years and specially the last few weeks we did longer walks every week. Thus we knew where trouble would be waiting, and that's mostly the FEET! My feet were taped all over the place ...
Trips to Iceland, car stuff, camping on a budget, a £1 budget and now a walking video?!
ATGs algorithm is fckn wild!
Guys , possible video idea, Budget camper build, then budget roadtrip ? Sticking to the budget and travel idea but with some motoring stuff also.
"just the four swans actually" hahaha brilliant reference
😂😂😂😂😂
Brilliant 😂
for the greater good
You two have the perfect chemistry for anything you do 👊Every bit of content you've done so far has been on point 💯%
Ethan and Jack acting like they still have that Car Throttle budget.
The world record for furthest distance walked in 24hrs is 142 miles by Jesse Castaneda in the USA, a guy who has multiple records/achievements in walking long distances. I would say walking a third of that is pretty incredible for two 'normal' guys 😂
Jack's solid contender for the ministry of silly walks at c 13:00 😆
Only channel on RUclips that I could watch two guys walk across London for 24 hours and be laughing the entire time!! Love it!!
the kevin and perry references flying in absolute abundance
These Guys are the kings of small budget content.
Love you guys.
You gotta have the lowest production costs of any channel on the tubes. 😂
And yet one of the highest entertainment factors!
Nah, thats the people that review or talk about other peoples videos lol
@@atodaso1668 Lowest production cost with actually original content and not using someone else's😂
@@atodaso1668I’d disagree because they need a room setup and a pc setup and chairs etc
@@VelEire_ These guys also need a room to sleep in and a computer for editing.
Only five minutes in and I'm already loving this! Love your friendship and chemistry. Video ideas are fun. Cinematography is great!
Love the concept of this video 👏
Jack has just top shelf humour, proper funny guy
Never been this early to a video. Love all of the content you guys have been making.
Absolute breath of fresh air Lads. I was excited for another car channel when ye went out on ye’re own. I didn’t see this type of random content coming. Bravo guys 👏🏻
That’s amazing! Well done lads. You two must now be as fit as a Butcher’s dog 🤣. ‘Can I lick your lips’ had me crying with laughter 🤣
I absolutely love your channel, you are as bonkers as me
I went through all the emotions of this video during all my half and full marathons and swore off them. So obviously I have entered two Half Marathons this year 😂
Another big budget video 😂
I'd watch anything you post! It's always funny, always entertaining! Low budget, high budget, no budget. Just brilliant!
Man I love this channel so much! Gets me through the week waiting for These
As someone who completes ultra-marathon walks, i have some notes:
1. 3mph is a good average to start with.
2. We do not eat quinoa - we absolutely do eat doughnuts, cake, crisps. High calorie absolutely
3. Despite your route being flat, constant concrete/tarmac is horrible. It mashes the hell out of the soles of your feet, and hills help change your gait to vary the muscles you work. Big question is did you wear the boots in before trying a 24h walk!?
4. It is absolutely essential to chunk a walk/run and not look at the whole thing. Break it up, 6 miles is 2 hours - so dont look at 10 miles.
5. Mentality is everything. Once your head goes youre done.
6. Sleep deprivation is a nightmare. You did brilliantly to keep going as far as you did. Night walking is about getting it done and keeping going. Bring a head/chest torch next time.
7. 24h is such a long time to walk. Such a long long time. Well done
Start out with short, sceinic walks, then work it up distance wise. The LDWA 100 mile challenge is in Kent in 2026. See you there😂
Budget or no Budget, I watch for the entertainment value. which is high. Especially the Andy the boat video.
That was some journey you did there. Congrats.
A tip, though: try it on some other surface than asphalt, because that killed your legs way too early. I'm a couchpotato of the first water, and made 72kms in 17 hours up and down hills without being totally dead, but another time 15kms on asphalt made me feel like my shins were literally broken.
Legends, I f*kn' love you guys!
Holy crap, it's amazing how you just continued. My longest walk was 42km (about 26 miles), and in the end I was using my umbrella as a crutch as my legs just hurt too much. When I got home I literally crawled in the shower on hands and knees because my feet hurt. Though, I am now training, so I'm hoping next year'll go better.
"we will start in East London" - kinda expected a "walk two miles and get stabbed" joke there.
It's south London that's usually trouble.
Ah I am a bit late, but this project stirred some nice memories for me. Here in my hometown in Austria, the church organises a pilgrimage every year. It takes us ~20h for 70 km and 2000 m up the hills (and 1500 m down) to reach our destination. But we do the night bit first, which luckily means that it gets a bit easier as soon as the sun comes out. Good shoes are definitely a must, the first few times my whole sole was one giant blister, which also means, that every step gets that much harder. The stiffness and tiredness after sitting for a while is definitely there, but it usually gets easier again, if you walk for a few minutes. The brain going into delirium is probably also a factor. I sometimes even couldn't remember, that we all sat at lunch and ate... But such adventures are definitely memories, you don't want to lose.
2:05 If you're trying to dodge the rain, Florida is the wrong place to go lol
One time i decided to walk about 20 miles without any training before. It took 9 hours and all my lower body killed for the next 3 days. I can only imagine the shear agony of you guys after 24 hours without sleep. Big props to you guys, that was not easy 👏
All the gear, with no budget for any gear.. 😂 you guys are just trolling us now and I bloody love it!!
You guys are Legends! All these low budget challenges and adventures are so much fun to watch. You inspire to get out and do something fun. I can't wait for new videos!😊
Really enjoying your videos, keep up the good work!
I've done a fair few 24 hour and overnight bike races, I'm genuinely impressed with how you kept going just because you were still moving, it's a great mindset to make up for being totally unprepared! You guys know how to suffer, chapeau!
Loving this stuff, so much better than all the car stuff the others are doing that's getting all a bit repetitive and dull to be honest. Genius doing this stuff
I've often done a 33km walk in Dublin along the Dodder and that's tough. Excellent performance when you didn't have the proper equipment and zero real training. Well done. Turning into one of my favourite channels on RUclips.
😵💫😵💫 mind blown! Very big well done lads! How many steps was it??
14:29 great hot fuzz reference there 🤣🤣
Tara Dower recently completed and set a new record for the Appalachian Trail which is 2,189 miles. She averaged 50 miles for 40 days straight.
Seeing how knackered you was here really puts in to perspective!
You guys are honestly my favourite channel amongst the 3. Such random and funny videos. Looking forward to the next one.
This channel is fucking brilliant lads, easily one of my favourites.
Fancy setting up a straight line mission with GeoWizard?
Enjoying the content guys, sad to see you leave CT but seeing you go solos made me realise, CT was you two, and Alex... Kids well put together and great entertainment. Cheers 😊
Bet those Danish scooters arent looking so bad after this one eh Jack? :D
Randomly, I'm last minute crocheting a shark before we head the 2 hour journey) to the London aquarium, and this vid auto plays with you guys at there. I certainly won't be walking that far to get there though! (If you read my super interesting and engaging comment, thanks for coming to my ted talk. If you want more, you can find me on other video commenting equally interesting facts, such as "I thought about a roundabout today" and "I have heard of that town and it's sort nearby, but not really" 👍🏻)
That looked insanely difficult, well done. You should read "The Long Walk" by Stephen King!
yea that is a unique feeling you get from that, I have done a couple trips with a friend of mine, not on time but from A to B.
but well I got a little surprised when I saw that you got ~75km in 24h, because our first trip was ~70km that we completed in ~14h, and then just died.
that weather was ok, I did a hiking marathon in July last year and had hours of thunder and lightning. well done for marching on. Love the channel
Are these challenges why these two are the only ones in the alex-verse that aren't overweight?
Good spot!
Yep. They're all pigs especially Rory. The only other skinny one I can think of is the dude that does the mechanics on auto alex, forgot his name but he's good, wish he had his own channel
They do say that a camera adds 10 lbs to you and Alex probably uses a lot of more cameras on his channel.
Great channel - you can expect different content every time. From driving to kayaking thru the canals. Great work and great video again. Cant wait for the next one 😊
Buy some Groms or Monkeys and take them up to Scotland, over to Ireland and back down through Wales and home. Make it a multi day epic trip!! Uhh I live in Florida... you do NOT want to do this walk at this time of year. 100 degrees and major thunderstorms every single afternoon. Winter time sure... Summer?? NOPE!
That's wildly impressive to me. I've done a fair portion of hiking as I've been in the boy scouts through my youth. To earn the hiking merit badge, we had to hike 20 or more miles in one day and basically everyone who went developed a new issue that they'd never had before. For me, my knees have never been the same since then. Over longer spans of time, I've done around 80 miles worth of backpacking over the span of 14 days in the back country but that has included being loaded down with about a 50 lbs. backpack and when we'd get to camp, we would do camp activities beyond what the day had already beaten us with. By age 21 I had over 400 documented miles of hiking strictly within the boy scouts. I've said to old men who say I shouldn't ache in the ways that they do that having mountain climbing as a hobby is a really really really tough thing on your body.
Two "best mates" start a youtubechannel.
Ethan "how can i make jack`s life as misserable as possible"
Jack "how can i make Ethan`s life as misserable as possible"
I cant imagine what they`ll do if they invite someone they dont actually like.....
I love all the love budget videos :D And those trips to Japan and Iceland must have cost a fortune! I wish they would come up with more quirky ideas, like the canoe thing, only this time in a real canoe or paddleboat, driving through the UK with mopeds, cheapest flights to a beach, just all weird and entertaining stuff.
£150 cycle camping setup. Ethan vs Jack
Unfortunately, that's £151 over their available budget. 😂
Fair play to you lads. The distance is irrellevent, but the amount of time doing this is so impressive. Endurance events on these timescales are such a mental challenge.
You walked past my mums house on your route, at 17:17 when you were in shepperton
Thanks for the motivation. First proper dedicated walk with no purpose since braking my hip in January. 4miles, up and down, through mud etc. It was good. I don't envy your 24hr walk though. You should've ended in the city and gone out for beers 😀 Do that on the next one and we can all meet up. 👍
I'm pretty sure at this point the sheer financial deprivation has stacked up to the point of Alex immenently getting raided for running a labour camp thinly veiled as a RUclips empire
Congrats guys. I've personally got bored with the car channels constantly doing the same thing. I look forward to your vids now, such a refreshing approach. Keep it up!!
cheeky kevin and perry go large references haha
Not sure you would want to do it in Florida right now 😂😂
This is the first time I've seen you and I loved the video. More walking! 😂
14:50 "that's alright that's the pace i wanna go anyway" had me dying, i've done 16 hours before and yeah it really does hurt soooo much after a while.
Nice, interesting concept fellas. Enjoyed the video. Guessed the right miles so feeling pleased. At first I thought '44 miles'. Then I saw how determined you seemed and I thought '48 miles'. So pretty much nailed it. Well done guys. I'll look out for further stuff from you.
This video makes you think, when was the last time when you had a walk with your friends and had the chance to just talk. You guys are just exploring loads of stuff. Honestly, keep up:)
Next, how much you can cycle in 24hrs haha
Love the video's guy. Nice to see new ideas been watching since full throttle. I 2nd the idea of moped or scooters camping London to Loch ness Scotland 😂😂😂 keep up the good. work
the fact that you genuinely have no idea what will happen during the video is what makes it great to watch. Also, I'd guess you didn't drink nearly enough water.
Loved this video and everything you’re doing - great work - laughed out loud so many times - thanks guys
Absolutely bonkers the total distance covered, seriously epic effort Jack and Ethan! I bet your legs must have been burning up, proper troopers for carrying on in the morning and not binning the challenge when you got tired during the night.
I have no idea why I just sat and watched this.
Their videos are simple and just pull you in.
Top notch guys!! Top notch!!
2:07 ... Isn't florida currently experiencing a particularly bad hurricane? Not sure you'd be better off 😂
Well done, guys. Finished up in Staines Lammas park. Just down the road from me. I did wonder if you would make it this far or even as far as Windsor. Great effort.
Lads, well done 👏 👏👏👏👏
That looked like hard work 💪😎✌️🤝
