Beautifully articulated! As a US American I would much rather see Canada use this as an opportunity to wake up from the woke fantasy and begin to function in the best interests of its citizens.
We did, under Harper era and then woke plague just swooped in and took over. Canada was first, USA was second but least you got rid of it very quickly.
it's either USA takes us or China does. The govrrnment has way too much propaganda indoctrination power. theconly hope might be escape. notwithstanding clause and demographic change insure we never get canada back. its a dead concept being worn like a skin suit
Agreed. While it's fanciful to notion oneself as "the best version of everyone else" (i.e. 'Canada should become the 51st state), that's hardly productive and generally untrue. It just reeks of ego. It shows a great deal of humility on Peterson's front to not get defensive to the point of hostility at what Trump is saying, and instead use it to introspect.
Yes to Provincial Free Trade, because: the natural flow of goods and services and people and money on this continent, is north-south. Not east-west. Sir John A Macdonald built the CPR because he was worried that American immigrants might flood into Canada eventually, turning Western Canada into American states. Trump is offering more prosperity. Canada is offering less prosperity. And Canada has had 10 years of an incompetent Prime Minister handling the economy, we're in rough shape. I agree with Stephen Harper's assessment of Trudeau: unfit for the office, incompetent.
It is a difficult time in Canada right now. As an Albertan I could not agree more with the sentiments provided by Dr. Peterson. He is 100% correct regarding the feeling in our province. I have watched this country decline in almost every way for the past twenty years. I can tell you it is heartbreaking. I have served in the military, the federal government and now a major municipality, and as he said, if it were put to a vote to stay or leave I am not truly sure which direction I would go. To our neighbours to the south please know that not every Canadian agrees with the way this country is being run. We are trying to change it, but often feel powerless to do so. No matter what any politician says you remain our best friends and thank you for that!
While I would gladly welcome you to join America. I hope you are able to correct your course and right the ship of state. I am praying for you, Canada.
I do hope Canukistan can recover, myself. I assume most of us in the USA are aware that you have plenty of people who reject the nonsense, but you need to take power.
My father first joined the second world war when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. Therefore I have a connection to your country and its armed forces. I have a great deal of respect for you because it was in a Canadian uniform that my American father was first at war in Britain in 1940 during the Blitz. (When he left the RCAF in 1941, he was immediately conscripted into the United States Army Air Forces for the rest of the war.) With all this in mind, I and many other Americans feel great affinity for you and we will always do so. We separate you from your politicians and value you.
Ditto here, my Canadian brothers and sisters. Americans - just like Canadians I assume - want an independent, strong, reliable, effective neighbor. Godspeed.
Remember this. Voting to become American is voting to sell every future male child born in Canada to the United States army for at least 3 years, for the foreseeable future. It is granting 330 MILLION people access to move onto, buy up, and utterly destroy (They will call it develop) the land. It is inheriting every future American war. Every time they seek oil from another country. Every time they test weaponry. Every time they assert themselves into foreign countries, your children's children's children will be there. Privatized healthcare I don't know much about but getting my feelings checked for free sounds much better than 1,800$ to ride in an ambulance. Canadians should have basic weapons and defense training for citizens but military service isn't quite the same thing.
Two years ago, I attended a dinner with the absolute best and brightest graduates of one of Canada's largest universities. I don't mean this metaphorically...these were the students who took home all the awards and included the university valedictorian. I asked the 20 or so in attendance, "Will you be staying in Canada?" Now, it would be one thing if they pondered the question with some seriousness and then replied with a conditional, "Not likely," but that's not what happened. Instead, they all broke into laughter, as if the thought of staying in Canada was a ridiculous joke. Your nation is in serious trouble when those with the greatest potential see it as a very serious joke.
I have had the same reaction from my kids who are in university, as well as their friends, all want out of Quebec and all want out of Canada. what am i suppose to say to my children? no stay!! not likely, the only thing I look forward to is the reality check that is about to hit Quebec, Legault is shaking in fear because he knows its coming.
@mac3692 tell your children to be the change they want to see as they are canadas future and leaving your country is giving up not working to make it better for all
Im in Alberta. I moved here over 20 years ago from BC. I was broke, no future , would never own a house and everyone was in about the same state. I worked hard and got 2 trades in Alberta. I met my wife of 19 years, bought a house and started my own business. Today Im 54 sold my house and Living in Fort Mcmuray for the last 4 years because of the decline in work. I have been layed off and there is no work in sight after thousands have been layed off from the oilfields. I have pretty much lost everything in the last 10 years. I have my wife still and we are still the best of friends. Thanks to what Mr. Peterson is talking about. YES I would vote to leave and Canada and their woke BS can starve and be in the cold. SEE YA
Everyone in Canada is sick of woke. We need a real leader. I wish Danielle Smith would run for PM and fix the entire country. I empathize with the hardships that Alberta has endured. Just know it's not the people but our bad management who don't treat provinces with equal respect. Hang in there, Albertians!
We where brainwashed by the media by electing Trudeau who was blown out of proportion has a prince who would Canada prosperous and great instead he turned into a monster and a disaster for every Canadian citizen
As a small business owner my family and i would leave it all behind for a small ranch in Texas. We hate what this great country has become, an unlivable waste land of WOKE or BROKE idealistic losers. BC is a lovely place to look at as a tourist but living here is impossible.
@@saskrugbydad2227 complacency is the downfall of humanity. Canada is not fine currently and needs to start improving before we collapse economically and culturally.
As an American, I adore Danielle Smith 😂 I want to adopt her. She is the only politician up north that actually listened, and took Trump seriously. I gained so much respect for her. And as I learned about Ottawa sabotage of Alberta I felt a real respect. Albertans seem like they'd fit in the US Midwest so well. Best wishes.
I have lived and worked all across our beautiful and once great nation my whole life. It has sadly degraded, coast to coast, We are Broken, we are hurt, we need strong policy and time to heal our national pride and wellbeing, we stand on guard for thee. Never forget who did this to us, as our hearts bleed together, for the night is always the darkest, before the mornings change. 🍁
@@ricksargeant I would leave Canada in a heartbeat if given the chance at the American constitutional freedoms, especially after recent trucker protest actions and all the BS orders in council banning guns for looking too scary by Trudeau the tyrant.
I'm deeply disappointed by the current state of affairs in Canada. As a proud, West Coast-born and raised Canadian, I cherish my childhood memories of national pride. While that pride remains, recent political decisions and the current climate have significantly eroded my optimism. Living in British Columbia, arguably the most beautiful province in the country, has become disheartening. We face a growing crisis: the prevalence of fentanyl addiction, skyrocketing crime rates, and foreign investment driving up housing costs to exorbitant levels. At 31 years old, I earn $43 an hour, yet I'm still forced to live with my father because I can't afford a home or even reasonable rent. It feels like a cruel joke. I long for the days when Canada was a global leader, or at least a close second. I recently saw a video of a protest downtown, where someone proposed a "super drugstore" offering access to hard drugs like cocaine, fentanyl, and ketamine. The idea is appalling. Is this really where my tax dollars should be going? Furthermore, the concept of publicly funded gender-affirming care, particularly for children, raises serious ethical questions. How can we, as a society, allow such procedures? It's disturbing to see Canadians seemingly indifferent to these issues, yet quick to criticize the United States for considering tariffs. While I'm not personally in favor of tariffs, and I certainly don't want Canada to become a U.S. state, I feel lost and powerless. What can we possibly do to reverse this decline
@@Starkid4590 No need to worry about Canada becoming a State. The US will only want the good parts that produce positively. So, BC, Albert, Sask, and maybe Manitoba. Maybe NWT as well so they have more landmass bordering the artic Seaways.
I agree with most of your sentiments, but sadly, I think we are too far gone. The canada you love is gone. Annexing canada would be a gift, and it would reinstate what you love under a new name. Im 33 years old, and I've watched my husband struggle to provide for us. We own our own profitable business, but we are so close to losing everything from all the high costs and taxes. The deck is stacked against us. Best wishes to you.
I’m born and raised in Vancouver. I feel your pain, working hard and doing the right thing and still can’t get ahead. I honestly think a Conservative government is our last and only hope.
I live near Vancouver for decades. I do not earn as high and a few decades older. I thought I’d be retired by now but I cannot. I don’t earn as much as you but I have used s&p500 stocks to help me fight inflation. I was an immigrant, helped myself and my elderly parents, put myself through school etc… I paid my dues so I am the “good immigrant”. I am hopefull this is still possible Even though others hate immigrants, I saw in my city of Vancouver, local mom/pop groceries and restaurants open up which bring prices down and some take care of their grandkids while the parents work elsewhere - in another country like China. The small business has boomed. Our feds were not prepared nor fast on reacting to the housing crisis and immigration- they are out of touch; hence, banks got away with loaning out based on gross income not net. Our strata fees are high and feds are idiotic to not offer tax breaks on that except for home investors. basically, home ownership is too expensive. Ultimately, we can just control ourselves and see opportunities. Ownership is overrated; I hate my strata fees and wish the government has a tax break on it but they are too busy arguing about small petty things. The governments have to align and be less arrogant and ignorant (ie learn less from the Americans). Our government officials are sadly naive and young. When I was younger and a new immigrant, I thought our officials were out of touch and will be eaten alive by A sian counterparts. Fast forward now, they are being eaten alive by the Americans. people are scared of China and I see they are creative despite my dislike of their policies. I just think the Americans did not learn from the capitalist mistakes and was so arrogant abour their rights for decades and we are now paying the price - globally! China being another superpower will not care about things that the Americans care about and hype about. They don’t care about global control but care about global economic place; they have billions of elderly people to take care of because of the 1 child policy and are less influenced by any religion and have enough problems. They have incentivized their municipal governments to grow small businesses and grow it into major business hubs in their own regions; that is how politicians are promoted. yes there is also corruption but they likely don’t care about physical war like North Korea but will care about economic dominance and growth for their own people. They have enough control over their billionaires; they have their own maga group; they also are not too materialistic (except for the major regions that grew like Shanghai, etc)…. They have enough money coz while US and Canada bicker, they focus on emerging countries; hence, we are in a predicament in the Panama area. Our Canadian leaders better smarten up fast or the next generation will be in dire situation. I STILL LOVE CANADA
A British Colombian here… I never understood why Albertans put up with the rest of Canada. The succession rules have already been laid by Quebec. Pull your bootstraps up and get on with it!
@@darcysuurhoff7028 "BC" People understand patriotism quite well. A Vancouver Island Regiment (Canadian Scottish Regiment - Princess Mary's) was the point of the spear at Juno Beach. As an Albertan, I am sick and tired of the rest of our country holding us back from succeeding to our fullest potential and I am open to listening to the Americans proposal. The East has been a ball and chain that has only held Alberta back. Something has to change and the first being preventing Ottawa and Quebec from making decisions that hurt us in Alberta. I am not entirely sure what that looks like for Alberta, but we need start sticking up for ourselves and making decisions that will allow us to flourish.
Alberta is the #1 reason for Alberta being held back. Betrothed to oil executives and no interest in diversifying their economy and leaving the 19th century behind.
I'm a lifelong American (of 57 years). Having been born and lived in WY and MT for my entire life, Canada feels more like our neighbor than it might to Americans to the south, west, and east. Regardless, many of us Americans have spent many years thinking of Canada and Canadians in general as being out-to-lunch on the whole in the role of worldwide leadership. But I can tell you this... we WANT Canada and Canadians to be as great as we know you to be. You are hearty, but peaceful/agreeable. We want your buy-in, in keeping North America free and prosperous. We want to "hug" Canadians and welcome you to the family and the party. Though we often roll our eyes when the subject of the state of Canada as a whole comes up (due to feeling alone in worldwide leadership), we root for Canadians with all of our very American (but often misguided) hearts of gold. Go for it Canadians... take your country back and be awesome. We haven't lost the faith. We KNOW you have it in you, and we want you to be our sibling in MNAGA ("Making North America Great Again). We saw the leadership you exhibited when your truckers stood up with pride and courage. So this is it Canada... let's be that shining beacon of AWESOMENESS in the world together. I am partly of Athabaskan descent, so Canada is in my DNA to a degree. Also, as a lifelong professional musician and lover of great music... many of my favorite musicians hail from the Great White North. Rush (my favorite band of all time), Triumph, Saga, Mystery, Devin Townsend, Our Lady Peace, Bryan Adams, and so many other world class musicians. In fact, I would say that on the whole, I enjoy and appreciate the music of Canadians more even than that my own fellow Americans and British musicians. Your artists have played such a huge role in my life. You rock Canada, and we do love you like our own brothers and sisters.🙂❤ PS... Jordan Peterson is a national treasure. My wife and I saw him at his show here in MT last summer. We own his books, as do all five of our adult children. There is no modern day philosopher who we appreciate and respect more than Mr Peterson.
You’re an idiot and the diplomacy of our Nation is lost on you. There is nothing wayward about our worldview despite the current government. Canadians are amongst the educated people in the world. And we don’t need an American chiming in on what we should do
Very well said! I’m a lifelong native of Michigan of 57 years - another border state with our friends in Canada and I personally have ancestors who lived for some time in Ontario and my husband too, has deep roots in Quebec on his mother’s side and his Hungarian father’s side settled in Saskatchewan in 1902. So we feel a particular closeness and fondness for our neighbors in Canada.
We don’t care what you want. We want a better national identity which means being less influenced by you. We want stronger borders, international trade (and pipelines), we can be self-sufficient in a few years. 🇨🇦
Great note on the state of the militaries in USA vs Canada and how the Canadians can claim to be peaceful. A famous quote goes something like: in order to claim to be peaceful, you must be capable of doing great harm. Otherwise you're not peaceful, just harmless.
The destruction of Canada's honorable and proud military tradition in favor of a socialist health care system was a disgrace, particularly as the healthcare system kills its own citizens.
As a Maritimer, we’ve been fooled and brainwashed by Upper Canada for a long time. We’ve had our fisheries destroyed by Ottawa, been treated like hillbillies, had Energy East developments taken from us. We’ve tolerated it, because we could buy cheap houses and live cheaply in a beautiful setting. Well that’s disappearing so fast it’s hard overstate. I live in the riding of Conservative MP Rick Perkins.
Albertan here. Screw the virtue signalling "Team Canada" Danielle Smith is the only politician in Canada with the balls to stand up and be an adult in diplomacy.
Albertan here, I’m fed up with Quebec, British Columbia, and Ottawa screwing us over on getting our energy to markets etc. If they don’t step up and support us I support Alberta independence or becoming 51st state.
After ten years of liberal mismanagement the idea to become the 51st state looks pretty appealing especially for young people who don't have any opportunities in Canada
BC here I agree fed up with Alberta not supporting us here, i think if your interested to be a Yank go then but don't jeopardize the rest of Canada. Have fun with living under the biggest bully and having to pay thousands of greenbacks when you need hospitalization, thats just the start of it shall i go on.
I am sick to death of Alberta's selfishness... you had years to diversify energy sources. Instead you're whining like a grown up child still living off his parents.
As an American, I'm not so sure we'd want all of Canada as part of the US, but we would be delighted for Albertans to join us and to extend to them American rights, freedoms, and friendship that their current woke authoritarian overloads would never be able to offer.
If this offer that the good Doctor is offered in sincerity and an addition of a few $100,000 per person, along with a pressing of DC to relinquish the CPP funds Albertans have submitted to Ottawa, you'd be surprised at the out come
Native Albertan. The Western Canada Concept emerged, I think, in the 90’s. Its goal was to separate from Canada, Manitoba to BC. Why oh why didn’t it go through. We’re constantly controlled by the east, they take Alberta $$ again and again, they get weird tax benefits, they get unemployment after only a few months of work, and I lived through the National Energy Policy when the feds first started taking Alberta $$. Quebec to the Atlantic provinces receive “transfer payments” from Alberta. When times are tough with oil, Trudeau says Alberta needs to diversify. Okay that’s great. Why not the same talk to eastern provinces who should be doing more to be self supporting. No, it’s because they will always get to be supported by Alberta … and Saskatchewan, which is why they keep voting for the Liberals. If it came down to a vote and I could maintain tax funded healthcare and my pension, I’d vote to get out. Stand-alone as a small country or become an individual state in the US.
Sounds a bit like the complaints of the American South prior to the Civil War. Setting aside the issue of slavery for the moment: American Southerners labored with great skill using what they had only to watch what they deemed an unfair portions going to the North. Cotton shipped to England (and Europe) being taxed (tariffed) by the North and the lion's share of the profit kept by the North. No wonder the South was tied to slave labor at the time perhaps due more to necessity than actual choice. The Southerners at that time widely believed the issue was more about states rights and taxation without representation, than about slavery. Whether this was the reality or simply a perception is debatable. Regardless, being treated fairly makes people want to stay and conversely, being treated in a way that is regarded an grossly unfair, will make almost anyone search for a better deal.

Trump's got a lot of friends in Western canada. Hello from Alaska
The simple fact that Quebec will have a serious impact on any future Canada has, outside it breaking up, has me OUT of fixing anything. I don’t think Alberta can work with that Province and thrive in any form.

Jordon Peterson's speech hits hard. I'm an Albertan and Canadian who has fought and bled for this country long ago in Bosnia. I used to think of myself only as a Canadian but have long since lost my naivety as to the condescension and betrayal of Ottawa politicians and the Leaurencian population towards us in Alberta. Although it would be with great sadness, I would vote for secession from Canada and statehood into the United States.

I think you'd find that Alberta may lose the northern part of the province in such a move, including the oil sands. Until 1905, when the province was formed, the district of Alberta did not include those lands. Native treaties were made with the federal government and are not necessarily transferable to the province. Alberta as it exists only exists in the context of confederation. Quebec has the same issue with Native rights, the separatists there get very upset when you suggest they may lose territory. Do you think America will still want the lower half of Alberta by itself?

I'll never forget it or cease to be grateful. I did get some negative attitudes when the Iraq and Afghanistan wars hit, but apart from that, I have only experienced kindness and openness and goodwill by Canadians from every province and territory, and I made my best lifelong friends there. It broke my heart to watch the brutal crackdown on the truckers - I had several friends literally on the front lines who tried to call for freedom and justice and were horrifically crushed. As a born and bred Albertan I would vote tomorrow for Alberta to separate from Canada. I want Alberta to NEVER be ruled by a Laurentian elite again. Become a sovereign nation. Then I would cut deals with the US and abroad for our resource products. I have worked in the energy/ resources (oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, pulp and paper) industry for 35 years. I can assure you it’s clean and ethical. People who speak from their pulpit out east have no clue what we provide them and what the dedicated trades professionals put into it. They can all be Uber drivers I choose not to.

They are desperate to hide their connection to the drug trafficking but need the funding more than ever since they lost USAID funding for their crimes.
You love Petro-Poilievre too ? There is nothing clean and ethical about oilsands and how fuel is extracted from them. It leaves huge lakes of contaminated water that will take centuries to be treated by nature.

I'm a conservative Canadian and fan of Peterson. I agree that Canada certainly does have internal problems and Dr. Peterson's critiques are all valid. But what the US president is saying and doing is absolutely outrageous. Real Canadians want to be Canadian and would never forsake their own identity to be American. I know that Peterson isn't saying that we should be American, it's rather what he's NOT saying that I have a problem with. This isn't a time for self criticism, this is a time for standing up for Canada.
As a British Columbia resident, I apologize for our stupid governments' lack of foresight. I fully support pipeline expansion. I will toss in a third option. Northern BC is done with the South Coast dictating policy. Some are suggesting amalgamation into Alberta. Imagine an Alberta with direct access to tidewater. Prince Rupert all the way to Edmonton.
Still don't believe the BC elections were without interference. Half of the Island voted for the same gov't that has caused such swift destruction, along with some mainland pockets. Delu lu. Many in BC would support something like your idea.

Your president is a coward and has to come and bully other good neighbors, Canada is not for sale.
No, there are plenty that are far worse off than Canada and the UK. Do some research and don’t drink the woe is me Kool-Aid. Things could be much better here, but can and will get much worse with the two TRUs in power.
We’re working on stabilizing our country to help uplift yours, soon we will work on the UK. I’m hoping if Canada does get their act together that maybe they can help us get the UK back on track.
As an American I can say this you don't give up your identity as an Albertan by joining the U.S. All the States of the Union had an identity all their own before joining the Union. And even today we all think of ourselves as Americans, and Texans and Californians and Alaskans, and it would be the same for you. You would still be Albertans with your own pride and traditions and history, and you would also be American with everything that comes with that.
This is probably the biggest fear we Canadians have, that loss of identity. Like you point out however totally groundless and totally misunderstood. If anything, joining our u.s. neighbour's (neighbors 😊) could only strengthen our pride not weaken or status.
I wish you guys would stop joking around and make it happen! Get us out of here hahaha Canada is so horrible, we go to jail for typing naughty words on the internet. It's insane.

As an American veteran, the only contact I’ve ever had with Canadians was with their military, and they were all damn good people who loved Canada. Personally I have always had great respect for Canada and always considered them as brothers. I encourage all Canadians to fight back against the “WOKEISM” that has swept across our western society. Americans as a whole love our Canadian neighbors, we truly wish them no harm an any way. The threat imposed by the radical liberal ideology to our Constitutional Republic must be destroyed and the American people have spoken loud and clear. We will not comply or surrender our rights and freedoms to utopian tyranny. Stand up and fight Canada! America 🇺🇸❤🇨🇦
I have no words.... As an Albertan, I agree wholeheartedly with this most astute gentleman and his assessment and prognosis of said province and Canada. Well done Sir, and thank you.
I find it telling that no polling company dares to put forward an opinion poll to Alberta about Alberta seperatation right now, as this opportunity so obviously looms over Canada. As Danielle Smith has said, there won't be just an economic crisis, but a unity crisis if the Federal government continues with its antics.
I seen one...can't recall who posted it but Alberta ranked higher for separation than Quebec. I don't want to actually say the numbers as I can't give the source.
Any such movement towards AB separation must wait for a federal Conservative majority. Additionally we are waiting for the inevitable economic chaos resulting from an overdue national recession. At that time support for separation will be at a maximum, and likely successful. They are waiting for the stars to align and then we will get our referendum.
@thomash1894 You are completely correct, this will not be done until we see what the CPC has in-store for Alberta. I keep seeing Alberta inch closer and closer towards this result, with sentiment in Alberta following as well. If there is not a fundamental change in how Alberta is treated in this Federation, we will eventually get there, but we still have a mile to go before we are in a position where this move will be feasible and likely.
@@treeguy7490 Every poll I have seen on this has been around CANADA becoming the 51st state, not Alberta exclusively. It doesn't seem like it makes much of a difference, but it actually does from an Albertan perspective. I know a lot of people, myself include that wouldn't be for losing the Canadian identity to move to the US, but there is a different feeling about maintaining the Albertan identity to move to the US that fundamentally just feels better. I don't know how else to explain it. Lets just say if a referendum was put forward for Canada to become the US, I would vote no, but if a referendum for Alberta to join the US was put forward, I would vote yes, and I can't exactly explain why.
@@elliottbradshaw6856 I agree with your second reply here. As an Albertan I don't want Canada to be a part of the US. That I totally agree with you on. Trump is not an angel, that is obvious, but I had to vote for him all three elections in a row. & Justin Trudeau as a PM has been a horror show for you guys up north, & not a great ally for us in terms of NATO, & defense nor with the problems of illegal immigration crime which we need your government has to do more with us.
@@Thiccolo The US is not our ally - allies are more or less equal. We are a colony or satellite state of America. That's not even remotely the same as being an ally.
As an Albertan I have more in common with American Republicans, than I do with 80% of Canadians. My awakening to the Canadian political system was during the rise and fall of the Reform Party. The current Conservative Party of Canada is not even a pale shadow of even the conservatives of that era. Inside Canada, Alberta will never be the equal of Quebec, inside America, Alberta could be one of the richest most prosperous States. Sadly with our stranglehold of federal offices and employees in our two largest cities, it will take great effort to shake off the shackles of Canada.
This from a Quebecker's perspective No provinces are equals as we each have different geography and demographics, that being said we are partners. Historically it was Ontario and Quebec that held Alberta's current position of paying for the rest of the country which lead to our current state of entitlement. (We all know the history about how language was treated by our forefathers) This in turn has evolved into the victim mentality that we often hear thrown about in racial debates. I personally have never lived though an anglophone wanting to assimilate me. But rather the opposite of them bending over backwards to let us have our own way. This in turn is leading to Anglophones to return to their previous anti franco stance and holding discourse that i already heard but coming our of French mouth's in the 90's... So at the end of the day we might just be way more similar than we think. Be careful not to evolve the elitist entitled mentality that you claim hating so much Do not listen to the words of politician and assume that the populace agree's with what the politicians peddle. Quebeckers like most Canadians are stupid proud of who they are (with reasons to be, and delusions as well) so they will vote for who claims to represent them specifically regardless if it's true or not. @ I just assumed you meant the largest state as in Canada? Of course, the biggest landmass, but even Alberta itself is a massive landmass, and that is a very good question, it would be the largest state with the least amount of people, although other Canadians heard about this, they would likely move to Alberta.
As an Albertan, I would definitely vote that we become a state. Everything Alberta has worked so hard for, for years on end, is going down the drain. Sending equalization payments to Quebec, while working ourselves sick to even make our payments, (and yes, that's in the oilfield) is demoralizing. Danielle Smith is doing as good a job as she can, considering which country we live in. We tried to move to the states last time Trump was in and we had JT here, but it was impossible... if we could become a state, we would be thrilled.
I got a real question here, why do you guys some much complain about others. why are you so much depending on usa for the petrol. why dont you refine it yourself and creat more jobs around your economy? the state of alberta is like the farmer in usa that sold the ground floor to the industry and cry about other but receive big paycheck every month. Population wise, Alberta would be the 27th most popululous state, between Kentucky and Oregon. That means Albertans would have six seats in The House of Representatives and two seats in The Senate. That would give Alberta eight electoral college votes. Alberta would become an important state overnight. That would not be insignificant to a population that has traditionally been steamrolled by the elites in the east. To put it in perspective, Utah and Nevada each have six electoral votes. Idaho and Montana each have only four electoral votes. Wyoming only has three electoral votes. Alberta seems fairly conservative, so with the addition of two senate seats and six house seats, Alberta would set the tone in Congress for the next twenty years. There would be great benefits for Albertans to consider this, especially with a greater say in their governance than they currently have.
This Albertan would vote to join the USA. I've watched 20 billion dollars a year get siphoned out of this province in transfer payments, every year for 50 years. That's a trillion dollars, poof gone. That's roughly the budget of NASA - Alberta could have had its own NASA equivalent for that kind of money. Or 200 thousand extra dollars in the bank account of each of the five million people who live here. In the meantime they through roadblock after roadblock to pipelines out of Alberta, while Quebec buys oil from Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. It's sick. Our standard of living would improve 20% overnight if we were a state.
As an Albertan I have to say one must ask if the juice is worth the squeeze.. it it worth joining the US... and having to sacrifice so much from our current way of life. I had the opportunity to train with some Canadians providing support for their desert warfare workup before they went to Afghanistan, wonderful folks. Though your government is, as you say, detestable.

Completely agree. But the best thing to do here is to just join both countries into one. Both countries need each other. Both countries combined will be the most powerful country in the world. USA just needs to let them keep some of the things that make canada great, such as free Medicare.
No free Medicare, I have friends who use to live in Canada and died waiting for treatment. Medicare needs to be regulated. So you can get treatment before you die@@YGOandMasterDuel
Or we could be allies. I’m Albertan and everyone I know does not want to be American. Perfectly and eloquently articulated. Alberta has been taken advantage of for too long. Quebec doesn’t deserve the majority of the equalization payments when they shame oil calling it ‘dirty money’.
funny thing is that Albertan's would probably view the equalization payments generally positively if Quebec could at the very least show some appreciation and respect for AB. Thats honestly all it would take to significantly shift the sentiment.

I encourage you to check out Kevin O'Leary's proposition for a trade Union. I doubt Ontario would support it but Alberta may have the economic strength on its own as an independent country. If not, joining the USA is a far better economic solution than remaining in Canada.

(When he left the RCAF in 1941, he was immediately conscripted into the United States Army Air Forces for the rest of the war.)
With all this in mind, I and many other Americans feel great affinity for you and we will always do so.

Two years ago, I attended a dinner with the absolute best and brightest graduates of one of Canada's largest universities. I don't mean this metaphorically...these were the students who took home all the awards and included the university valedictorian.
I asked the 20 or so in attendance, "Will you be staying in Canada?"
Now, it would be one thing if they pondered the question with some seriousness and then replied with a conditional, "Not likely," but that's not what happened.
Instead, they all broke into laughter, as if the thought of staying in Canada was a ridiculous joke.
Your nation is in serious trouble when those with the greatest potential see it as a very serious joke.

Hang in there... An Ontario-born Canadian, I love my entire country. A new day is about to dawn!
I am hopefull this is still possible
Even though others hate immigrants, I saw in my city of Vancouver, local mom/pop groceries and restaurants open up which bring prices down and some take care of their grandkids while the parents work elsewhere - in another country like China.
When I was younger and a new immigrant, I thought our officials were out of touch and will be eaten alive by A
sian counterparts.

You rock Canada, and we do love you like our own brothers and sisters.🙂❤
PS... Jordan Peterson is a national treasure. My wife and I saw him at his show here in MT last summer. We own his books, as do all five of our adult children. There is no modern day philosopher who we appreciate and respect more than Mr Peterson.

De-liberalize Canada of the fake nice guys that steal from you while lining their pockets and setting you in a crash course towards becoming the second China. This behavior would lead to destruction were it not for your neighbor 3. Stop being fooled by snake oil salesmen that tell you the "right thing to do" is seek out green energy and open borders while it has been proven time and time again that both of these things lead to poverty and destruction. If these trends keep going, provinces will soon seek out statehood in the states, not all, but some, and the rest of Canada will fall.
Alberta here, I’ve spent my life building our energy infrastructure. Oil and gas, substations, wind, solar and even the plugs in your homes. We are tired of the landlocked hate all of Canada has for us. Federation has not been worth the cost. This is our time and we will own it

As an American, I've been watching with a ton of interest for well over a year. I feel bad for Alberta, they've been handicapped repeatedly by Ottawa while getting the same sneering attitude that we in the US receive. I am an American who went to college and graduate school in Saskatchewan in the 2000s. I was there for 9/11 and was treated with such kindness and concern by the Canadians there in the midst of my trauma of being locked out of my own country while it was under attack. I'll never forget it or cease to be grateful. I did get some negative attitudes when the Iraq and Afghanistan wars hit, but apart from that, I have only experienced kindness and openness and goodwill by Canadians from every province and territory, and I made my best lifelong friends there. Canadians are wonderful people held captive by a self-serving, globalist, and authoritarian government. It broke my heart to watch the brutal crackdown on the truckers - I had several friends literally on the front lines who tried to call for freedom and justice and were horrifically crushed. I hope common sense can finally come again to Canada after this next election, making it once more the True North, Strong and Free, the land that I loved during my time there.

@@treeguy7490 Every poll I have seen on this has been around CANADA becoming the 51st state, not Alberta exclusively. yes. I feel exactly the same.
Be careful not to evolve the elitist entitled mentality that you claim hating so much

Alberta wouldn't be a state, it would be a territory, have no senators and like other territories would have just one congress person.

Best example is both the oilers and flames fans booing to US anthem. Hate to break it to you as well, hockey crowds are t majority liberal…. Also please define communism Mr Texan. All I see is a Texan that wants to overtake a democratic country/province.
Amen
Or you could mind your own business. Worry about Terxas...
Perfectly and eloquently articulated. Alberta has been taken advantage of for too long. Quebec doesn’t deserve the majority of the equalization payments when they shame oil calling it ‘dirty money’.
They should be told to shut up or get out!!
funny thing is that Albertan's would probably view the equalization payments generally positively if Quebec could at the very least show some appreciation and respect for AB. Thats honestly all it would take to significantly shift the sentiment.
Yep!
The USA 🇺🇸 is waiting for Albertans to join us. Get the show on the road!
@@waynek805 We want to get out, twice you the ROC thwarted our attempts at independence. Thrice if you go back as far back as Britain invasion.
I've long believed that Canadian "politeness" was nothing more than passive aggression. Seems I may have been on to something there.
Watch Canadian hockey and you get a good idea of what it looks like when they drop the passive part. Their military has a bit of a reputation as well.
Well when your a country who is alienated by USA for decades on end and constantly being verbally abused by the USA. You will not like America all that much all the time and mainly when their threating to annex our country by destroying our economic and coarse us.
Does that sound like a friend from the south that they promote and encourage to economically destroy you, basically ruin millions of lives in Canada and force you to be their nation and under their flag?
Sounds awfully like Ukraine and Russia....
It's the French and British roots, both countries hold their noses in the air for absolutely no good reason. Simple arrogance and nothing to back it up
It totally is. They despise us with a passion, basically because we're bigger than they are.
@@rbaconator Mostly for a few war crimes. Not that I'm complaining.
I am an Alberta 'baby boomer' and I can't believe how much the MAGA message resonates with the working population here. If President Trump offered Alberta statehood, I could not say with certainty which way we would go.
Those with any vision or guts would jump at the chance to join the US.
An actual constitution with rights versus our privileges.
Lol try no f way.
@@ZREXER1250 Hey, Ontario here, and since we're bigger, we get 51. You can have 52! Seriously though, Danielle Smith, in my opinion, would make a great Prime Minister!
At least seven votes for in my family.
Many of us would welcome the opportunity. Much of my family is in the oil patch and would say ltet’s go!
Loved this
I am Canadian and proud of Jordan B Peterson, if only more of Canadians were like him!!!!
I am American and admire Jordon B. Peterson. America would be better if more of us were like him.
Many Canadians support Dr Peterson as a national hero.
Amen! ❤ 🙏 ❤ 🙏
If more Canadians were like him, we'd all move to the US and then Trump could finally take over Canada. Is that what you want?
I missed these type of videos Dr. Peterson. These were always my favorite when you were making these two years ago. Please keep it going.
Alberta ought to secede or becone a 51st state. Either way would be better for Alberta. Alberta is in a bad abusive relationship with eastern Canada.
ALL of Western Canada is. Nothing we vote for makes a difference.
Given how Alberta gets screwed over by Quebec, understandable.
Not a State….A US TERRITORY. Much better for us……….NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX. No vote either, but who cares. We determine our own destiny free of Ottawa, and can create our own health care system. The US flag retains 50 stars, and we are no threat to the electoral balance. We all become US Citizens.
It would benefit All provinces. It would motivate them to explore their own resources
I hate to say it, it would cripple Canada but if I lived in Alberta, I would probably want to do that.
Welcome to Arizona, I hope you enjoy your stay. I think our Alberta friends, whom we’ve known nearly 50 years, would be open to becoming a new US state😀
As a Canadian I supported Confederacy for most of my young adult life. I now support Albertan and by extension Western separation. I don't want to become an American, I want the best for all Canadians, but not at the expense of Alberta. If that means we become a Republic in the west, so be it.
I encourage you to check out Kevin O'Leary's proposition for a trade Union. I doubt Ontario would support it but Alberta may have the economic strength on its own as an independent country. If not, joining the USA is a far better economic solution than remaining in Canada.
That's you. We in Calgary don't belong with the rest of Canada
I tell you what, Western Canada would kick ass as it's own country.
As an American, I would gladly accept Alberta, and as many friends as she would invite along. It might be beneficial to include Nunavut, Yukon, and the Northwest Territory in order to become contiguous with Alaska and (sort of) Greenland.
👍🇨🇦🇺🇸
You would love Saskatchewan as well.
I think that's the whole point of Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine.

@AgainstMyBetterJudgement My favorite movie is Billy Jack. My favorite Author is John Steinbeck. My favorite poet is e. e cummings. Both my grandfather's brothers went to the United States my father Irish and my mother Native North American. I am a Jackytar Newfoundlander and my DNA has been in North America for a long time and I am going to sit back and eat popcorn. There is always someone in charge when I was a kid I faked singing God save the Queen. I was a combat soldier and I know the States could roll right over Canada. Not picking sides the cultures are too close. So what who I pay taxes to will change. You are on your own in this world but the few have always plundered the many just don't be the many.
Proud Albertan here. I want out. Nothing will change that. Trudeau and his corrupt government, along with our terrible parliamentary system of government, have made me and many other Albertans separatists for life. Joining the US makes a lot of sense at this point. Nothing in Ottawa will change, ever, and we'll always be one election away from another lunatic like trudeau. No thanks, I'm done.
Albertan here, I have been hoping for Alberta to leave and join the USA for quite some time as well, Canada can enjoy its leftist circle jerk.
Leaving this joke of a confederation would be like winning the lottery.
And that is exactly what Trudeau wants for Canada. To fall apart. Like the Anti-Christ, Trudeau is the Anti-Canadian and has been continuing to take down Canada since he has been in power. A decade and all he can brag about is free dental for some Canadians and $10 a day day care, everything else has been the dismantling of Canada.
The British Parliamentary system has to go,
You have obviously not lived anywhere else
Every time I drive by any of the "WIND FARMS" in Southern Alberta, half (or more) of the turbines are NOT spinning... 🤨 Complete waste of Gov't / taxpayers money.
You don't know the half of it I assure you...
