I took my 2013 Mitsubishi Challenger (bottom of the range) to Fraser Island last month. Only mod’s being A/T tyres and recovery points. Only a centre locker and made it both ways over Ngkala Rocks without bogging. I know what you mean about the fun of being the underdog.
Wow 5 yrs already, that flew. Gonna miss seeing her on your vids mate. Got the 2016 myself. Really interested to see what your replacing her with, keep up the good work
The tuna ticked a lot of boxes for me for my first 4wd. I have driven some tracks with ease whilst others in more fancied vehicles have struggled. I have enjoyed folllowing your series because I am a fellow Tuna owner. But will stick to watching you post Tuna because I love the places you visit. :)
Damn.... you're finishing your Fortuner journey, while I am just considering starting one LOL. I currently have a Land Rover Discovery 4 and thinking about changing over from everything electronic (Air Suspension, Elec Parkbrake etc) to something more raw and easy to fix (Coils and Manual Handbrake). I've subscribed a month or two back and will watch your "back catalogue" of Videos. Good luck on your next car :) Cheers, Don (Perth, WA) (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
Thanks Don. It’s definitely a journey I’d consider taking again. I definitely understand how tech can sometimes be a burden. Just don’t hold your breath on the handbrake, it is a Toyota after all 🤣
Gday mate, great channel !! 👍 Torn between this an FJ Cruiser, the Fj drinks kegs but the Tuna sips Schooners. Does your model have a ladder frame ? How is the gearbox going with all the mods ? Does it feel stable on the freeway ? Cheers
Hey mate cheers ✌️. Yeah there’s a bit of difference between the fj fuel wise. But still an awesome rig. No issues at all with all the mods. Yeah it’s ladder frame. Definitely stable too ✌️
Hey mate great video's they are very helpful leading to my purchase. I'm about to pick up my 2022 gx 4tuna and want to put the rhino rack with the back bone mounts but not sure if the mounts line up with factory holes as the gx has no factory rails so therefore have no hole in the gutter? What was your experience like installing the rail system? Cheers
Yeah agree, though I heard some shops do gvm upgrades now. Roof rating is a pity, bit weak at 75kg like the 'lux. That said, still looking forward to pick mine up next week!
Is the fuel consumption proof of bad fuel quality in Australia? Did any you tuber try to find out why is different on the paper than in practice? How come it is not punishable by the law to lie to public just like that?
I would not consider any of the ute based 4x4 soccer mum cars. But I am curious how the fortuner drive experience on-road. I hear reviewers saying its real jerky and hard onroad, where you feel all the bumps etc. Is this true?? Is it just as rough as the ute?? Cos I drive a 2006 hilux, which I absolutely love but it messes up my back pretty bad.

Had a 2017 Fortuner till last November, some small mods were carried out ,loved it :)
There is plenty of fun to be had in them

You will miss the ride quality of the D4.
@@HappyGoTravel I ended up buying a 2022 Fortuner GXL (with Leather) in Feverish Red...... let the mods begin!!! :)
@@DonsShed nice, they’re a great rig I have so many epic memories of my old one.
Perfect review and spot on 👍🏻👍🏻

Cheers dude✌️I’m pretty sure these days there is a backbone for them that you just drill the holes for the same as I did for the rack I ran on mine
Nice Review!
Thanks mate
look forward to your Y62 or 200 series
Hahahaha it could be one of those 🤭😅
200 it is. You said either that or prado before. Plus you don’t give yourself more headaches by buying a Nissan
@@anthony.grisan 🤣🤣🤣 I like you logical thinking
GVM and roof load rating. Not enough for either. Still enjoy my Fortuner.

Yes definitely, we’d all love more carrying capacity

Any idea which shops do gvm upgrades for the Fortuner ?
I'm very interested & haven't been able to find anyone.
@@bjlaslett i heard ultimate suspension in sydney do one
@@SamuelWebster1337 Cool thanks.
I'll ring them tomorrow.
fortuner's are being used elsewhere in the world since 2006

Love my Fortuner
What did you get for her mate? I've got a white manual gxl that's also been used pretty hard.
30k with all the gear 25k striped
So you are getting a Jimny? My bet is you are getting the latest Fortuner.
I did definitely consider a jimmy. A new Fortuner that would be a little twist

hey mate they are nothing like the ride of a leaf sprung Ute. you still know youre in a 4wd but much closer to a car than a dual cab ute
@@HappyGoTravel Thanks for this. I nearly dropped the Fortuner from my list of vehicles to purchase cos reviews would state how hard a ride it was.
Y62 patrol in 7 weeks hey?
Hahahah definitely a good option. No one ever hints towards a jeep, or a defender, or a LDV
Are u buying a new 2021 Fortuner? That's the same number of months they let me wait for my new one.
I got lucky, just placed an order and they told me there was one not spoken for due to arrive next week :D
🤣 a new Fortuner would be a little twist for me. Seems to be he lucky number for cars, how long do you have to go?
@@HappyGoTravel they said end of March latest .
That's funny my fortuner sucks down 7.5 av down the m5
I think the new ones should be much better with more power an better with the newer tune they've put on them
I agree, I found my old girl was lacking. The new figures should relieve that
