Here I was, googling away Fortuner bits and pieces and along came this video. Thought I'd have a watch and see what others had done, then I notice a few things that look awfully similar to the point that the compressor button confirmed it, that is the Fortuner I own now. 😂 I'm honestly glad you made these videos, so now I know what it has got done or has had done to it in the past.
That is awesome. the old girl was a great rig and took me on so many adventures. i loved that it was a real underdog and always came through for me. i hope the old girl is still going well and out performing the bigger rigs!
@@HappyGoTravel it's a shame more people don't go for the fortuner considering they're basically a Hilux and the Hilux is very popular. And yes I agree about the gen 5 front ends👌
I am purchasing one shortly, and after finding your channel, I’m even more pumped to get out and explore in my free time. Only issue is White or dark Grey paint job 😀
Nice truck! Test drove Prado & Fortuner back to back & preferred the Fortuner, 200kg lighter & a larger boot. Can you do another vid showing what you need to do to fit 33’s. The front suspension’s same across hilux/prado/fortuner so there’s plenty of options there, but the rear is completely different? Is it possible to fit longer springs/shocks sway bar links & adjustable panhard rod to increase rear flex?
Steve Roberts that is in the pipeline it’s pretty much just a vid of me and the angle grinder going to town 🤣 The front is like every IFS 4wd around, diff drop, UCA’s and long struts will do the trick for big lifting. As for the rear it’s a little strange with coil seat on the trailing arm opposed to being over diff.
Love your Fortuner. Moving to Oz next year and was really set on buying one. I reckon it’s the closest thing I can get to my 4Runner here in the States. Have been reading some things about a big problem with the DPF on the Toyota 2.8. Have you had any issues?
Thanks mate. I love the 4runner front end, if we had them in oz i think that's what id get. i personally haven't had any issues with DPF, but i have definitely seen some problems with them though.
Hey buddy Do you have a video on your arb air compressor fitting I just bought one and tryn to figure out how to do the plate can you advise how I should do it thx
What roofrack is that for? Ive just looked online and they only have them for 4th and 5th generation forunners. Have different body lines then fortuner??
Thanks, think I'll go down the same path to get a rack nice and low to the roof but was going to go with a Rhino Backbone setup. Love how you managed to get all the work lights on.
Is there room in the engine bay for a under bonnet 2nd battery? or does the compressor fit the spot where that would go? any thoughts on a longrange tank for the fortuner?
Ben pretty much on it when loaded. Last time I was on a weigh bridge I had an empty box trailer and came in at 2.84t so the 2.75t with beer it would be pretty close
Hey mate, how do you rate the angled rock sliders for standing n to load the roof rack. Looking at getting a set but can't decide on angled or straight
Now ive had them for a few years, id get flat ones next time. i love the look of angled but id definitly get the gaps covered between the bars, iv had sticks flick up and get caught and jammed and do damage. flat ones with step treads would be the go. Standing on them is ok, if you are loading and unloading the roof every day id say go straight. I find i normally step on to the back tyre .
Sunny Singh thanks mate, the gear I used was around 1400 and I fit it myself. Depending on what suspension you wanted you could get supply and install from around $1500 to thousands. It all depends on what you want, then if you want to go higher than 2” you should start looking at things like UCAs & diff drop.
Matthew Gray it’s the worst don’t put big tyres on one, stick with stock. But seriously there’s a bit in getting 33s under and working. This is why I tell people they don’t fit. I had an inner guard issue that has since been chopped some more, but I am still playing around with it to get it perfect.
Pabs Pabs 🤣🤣 that’s a great sum up. The video is just what I’ve done and my opinions. I wish every thing could be perfect and awesome but unfortunately it isn’t. Winch wise this is just a classic example of the times I’ve needed my winch. I’ve underestimated a challenge and put my self between a rock and a hard place.

Your rigs a beast I like the fact that they aren't popular so yours really stands out. I wish we got the gen 5 4runner in oz
Hazardbone yeah it does a bit. Start to see more around but not many modified/ fitted out. There’s just something tough about the 5th gen front end
@@HappyGoTravel it's a shame more people don't go for the fortuner considering they're basically a Hilux and the Hilux is very popular. And yes I agree about the gen 5 front ends👌
Hazardbone yeah it’s funny, I think majority would still rather a Prado
Nice one Caleb. Everyone's requirements are different and what works for you is the best setup.
Overlander 4x4 and Camping thanks mate 👌
Great looking rig, just bought one myself. Excited to see their potential off road!
awesome, the short wheel base and factory locker makes them very capable. you will love it

BobbybithUNbss Boss hahaha that’s cool to hear.
I love the gunmetal but I’m too careless in the bush. White hides the scratches really well
Dark Grey is in. I have a pearl white and it's also nice but very common.
Good video man.
When are you going to make a video on the 33 inch tyres?
What did you have to do to fit 33's on please ?
GREAT video.
THANK You.
10/10.
Contemplating purchasing one. - My first 4WD!
thanks mate. They are a great 4wd. more capable than most realise.

Right choice with the Ironman bullbar.

2019 Fortuners have a manual burn switch for the DPF so you won,t have a problem. May also be fitted to 2018, not sure?
Happy Go Travel I’m arriving in Oz March 12th and just reserved a 2019 GXL Fortuner. Pretty chuffed! Where could I find a roof rack like yours?
Interesting video. I am from South Africa and are also documenting on what I am doing with my Fortuner.
Great walkthrough of your car mate, its a beast. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
Shad Donaghue thanks mate ✌️
Great build up project, anytime soon for the video on the 33" tyres please? Thanks.
Richard Milton sorry mate, it is still on the list. Hopefully soon
What size wheel's and tyres have you got mate?
Hey buddy Do you have a video on your arb air compressor fitting I just bought one and tryn to figure out how to do the plate can you advise how I should do it thx
Hey mate, i just used the holes where the 2nd battery would go under the bonnet. i did have to drill a couple out.
@@HappyGoTravel Ye I just figured that out I probably complete it tomorrow thank you so much
What roofrack is that for? Ive just looked online and they only have them for 4th and 5th generation forunners. Have different body lines then fortuner??
its an ecotechne rack
How do you find its handling with no front swaybars?
Michael Bacolod it’s ok take roundabouts a little slower though
What is the tounge weight when towing? Planing to buy either hilux or fortuner for a vacation truck in the Philippines.
mine is an early model manual that can tow 3T, and 10% ball weight is 300kg
Where was this filmed mate?
Julius Harris-payne our at Freeman’s Waterhole NSW, I call it the training ground but I’ve also heard it called ARB test track
Happy Go Travel it’s a great play ground, I’m normally there every couple of weekends playing around in my prado
Yeah I like it out there it’s a great place to test new things
I was told the Kevlar sleeves won't fit the king springs
Brett Cappetti a bit tight but in there. I also always run at 60psi with the camper trailer on with no issues
@@HappyGoTravel wow I was also told not to go over 30psi in mine
@@aussieadventurestimetoplay the sleeve lets you go to 60
does the seat fold down next to the draw
Hey mate, yeah it does
Awesome vid. So stoked to start my build. How'd you go attaching the roof rack? Did you install rails or is it attached straight to the channel?
Thanxs mate. Dropped the roof lining drilled through the channel and bolted in place
Thanks, think I'll go down the same path to get a rack nice and low to the roof but was going to go with a Rhino Backbone setup. Love how you managed to get all the work lights on.

How do you go with the GVM?

what do you say at 8:40? not going to argu about that???
sx11513 chip Vs Tune. I run a chip and im happy with it. Some will argue a tune is better. But that’s just my opinion on it

Hey another great video. Just a quick questuon. How much it roughly cost to raise fortuner including kit+fitting?

At 12:04 is that noise tyre rubbing?
Yeah it is, there is a little more of the plastic flare that I need to trim to get it sorted
Compare to her compition she is beast
Sunny Singh thanks mate ✌️
Awesome 😎
Thats an awesome Fortuner, plenty of sick mods, I'd love to do a Prado150 vs Fortuner video!
Thanks mate, yeah that would be a good comparison vid
I wish they'd bring these to the states
It’s considered to small for an suv segment in USA.
what is the tyres size?
Prob need a rear bar now.
Maaan that was awesome video
Thanks mate
Can 32s fit without cutting? I love your channel mate!
Thanks mate. 32"s fit with out cutting, depending on offset you may have to remove your front mud flaps.
it's a female 4Runner. Look at its headlights and big a$$ but i love it, Mate!
Zac C hahaha that’s the best description🙌love it 😂😂😂
very low range of articulation / wheels often hang on in the air
Unfortunately that is most modern 4wds.
You need an off road rear bumper.
hahahaha, definitely. im torn between custom made or outback accessories atm
That SUV looks small next to you 🤣
D hahaha I am a big bloke 🤣
That tyre scrub tho...
