Great review! Look fantastic for a "first gen" version. Genuine question, why are you and other reviewers so reluctant to make direct comparisons to the Wired Freedom? I'm one of the people who feel torn about it, particularly with the newly-announced upgrades for the Freedom. I want to see the nitty-gritty comparisons that make one better than the other, but every Five Star video doesn't even want to directly mention the Wired Freedom for some reason.
I have asked for honest reviews. Not to mention the other guys. Look at their checkout price. You get far more value in the DUAL STAR package. We shipped the "new bigger better" motors, with the wider axles on our bikes last Friday. Guess we get to be the first to ship. Using your discount coupon from Tim you will checkout at ecells with a total cost of $2,395. Try that with the other guys. Cost more! And, with them, you get no two year warranty on motor, No TEKTRO 4 piston brakes, No TEKTRO rotors 2.3mm front and rear, no Ecells DUAL CROWN forks, no large headlight, no high discharge Samsung batteries. no lifetime frame warranty, no five years experience with Dual battery high amp bikes. Wired does have a chain protector, lol.
@@e-cells2222 Thanks for the reply! I respect your wish to not mention the other competitor. I just would like to see the unbiased comparisons. I guess we'll see those in time. And yeah, your setup is the better value when factoring in their shipping costs. My thing is I won't be buying for another 8 months, and your dual star package says it's a limited time option, while the new Freedom is the base level option. Meaning I don't feel confident the dual star package will still be around or around the same price come next Feb when I'm ready to buy.
Great review!! I'm going to order the 5 star step thru. Would you get the extra battery with crown front fork and upgrade rear suspension? Do you think those upgrades would make a big difference in the ride quality.
I'm not sure about the front fork, but I think the basic DNM rear shock works quite well and wouldn't bother upgrading that one personally. The extra battery is going to depend on how far you tend to ride. If you want to go more than 30 miles in one ride, then get the extra battery
Having a torque sensor and Dual crown fork option has me Really leaning toward the E-Cells. All the other specs seem to be apples for apples. (Give or take). Most of the other bolt on options are ez to change later on if so desired. Wish your test bike had the torque sensor so you could have given us your honest opinion of That setup.
Hey buddy, can you review the $5,500 e-cell 5-star AWD TRIPLE CROWN 3000 Watt OFFROAD e-bike. I want your opinion on whether it is worth the price. I am exactly like you meaning I love to bike hard everywhere. I also plan to put a lot of weight on it when I go to COSTCO to buy 2 cases of bottled water and 2 cases of Gatorade. i weigh 200lbs. I am not sure it has the power to tow all this weight with the dual battery setup. what's your thought on the weight to power ratio. Will it be able to handle steep hills with this amount of weight???
Pedal strikes are when your pedals hit the ground. Sometimes your pedals can hit the ground while cornering. You aren't really supposed to pedal while cornering hard tho
@@e-cells2222 ..after watching Tim and Alex's videos I am pondering selling my first bike...that I said I would never sell...because I can not carry a lot of weight without a wobble. I have a 2024 Freedom. The bike flexes and wiggles like it's made of Jello gelatin. I submitted a warranty claim when the bike had less than 75 miles in it and the CEO of Wiired ignored that. It's crazy.
I live in Denver and I am right next to the Rocky Mountains so I would be interested in the hill climbs.. I also saw that ECells have a torque sensor option. I am pretty sure that I saw they had a carbon belt option as well.. Having a mid-drive with a gates carbon belt and torque sensor might be the answer for Hills/Mountains.. If you have lower gears you should not need as much power to get up the hills.. I even saw that they have CVT continue various transmission.. My car has that and I love it..
@@shootthechit Yeah, I couldn't see it on the website.. My point is that Ebikes are changing so fast that it is possible that there will be the "perfect" option..
I have been looking at your videos for some time now, but I must of missed why you no longer ride your wired. Did you get rid of that bike, can you expand on why you have chosen the ecells over the wired. I feel that ebike riders who watch your channel look to guys like you for your personal opinion. Thank you 🙏🏾
I'm in a unique situation as I get new bikes to review and ride them for awhile and then move on to the next and so forth. I have so many bikes at this point I don't get to ride all of them anymore, so at the moment I ride the E-Cells and the ERide Pro dirtbike. I recently sold my Wired Cruiser, but still have the Freedom.
Does the throttle feel natural with it only being part of the handle? Curious if it would get old holding for miles and trying to cruise at a specific speed.
Great bike , Great video. I bought The 19 inch 5 Star with The Dual Star Upgrades and used your code. My question is What is the right size Lizard Skin stay protector for the frame? They have different sizes, just need to know the one you used looks like it fit great. A link would be helpful, brother.
I have a 5 star and I too want to get a new derailleur. I was just curious what you would recommend. I was looking at microshift clutched, and shimano acera to start. I also want to make sure it will be compatible with the cassette and chain. What are your thoughts?
@@shootthechit yeah that's what I'm looking at getting too probably. Any specific size to the groupset? I had some clanking on my front rack but found the headlight wire was the culprit. Once I got that tucked in no more front rack noise.
That rattling is annoying. I can't believe Ecells hasn't addressed that. I've seen numerous complaints on the subject. I'd be willing to pay a little more for a quieter setup.
It depends upon how you count. Initially, one was bought for me, my wife, and my step-son. I ordered a second one for my use in March. I am waiting for it to arrive at the time of this posting. All of the top performing eBikes have a waiting period right now (if you want the latest version with all the top features available).
My worry with the dual crown forks is that it'll raise the already high handlebars too high. Anyone have one with the dual crown and can comment? I know tail happy got his, but hes also 6'5
The DUAL CROWN forks raises the head tube 1.5 " in the pictures with preset sag. Setting the fork with 30% sag drops the bike 1.5".Now you have a solid fork that allows the wheel to drop into minor bumps without massavie frame vibration. To ride with the DUAL CROWN fork is so smooth and with the preload sag you still have more travel than the standard fork. Win-win
@@e-cells2222 THANK YOU! Whelp, now looks like im going to call you guys tomorrow and hopefully ill be able to upgrade to dual star (im june shipment I believe. ordered april 7). Hopefully not too late
I got my shock all dialed in, then rotated it. You can still adjust rebound and compression, but you can't add or change your air pressure once its backwards.
What throttle only top speed were you getting with your 23 Cruiser? I regularly get 37/38mph on mine long as voltage is above 64/65v. That’s with me (195lbs) and about 30lbs of bolt ons/cargo. So a tad lighter than you but I thought this “upgraded” motor pushes ya 2-3mph faster?
The e cells bike is from a much more legitimate company with a CEO that has a true passion for his products. Wired is just a quick buck company that you could have trouble with long term. They do not even honor legitimate warranty claims about their poorly designed and cheaply made rear suspension.
Ecells doesn't disclaim motor wattanty issues if you unleash the beast and they warranty it for TWO years. Ecells is there for the ebiker. We care about you
@@raja8806 No, fastest it will provide power to the motor is 45mph. You can verify this by using the throttle with the tire off the ground. Fastest I've been able to go on throttle only during a ride is 38mph
I made the order on 7th May 2024 and today it is 12th May. Can you tell me how long it takes the time to place the order of E-cells Five Star properly?
That sucks. I already had my up grades punched in on my order form, and before I wanted to punch the credit card to send ,I had a couple of questions. Called twice, and never could get anyone. Now, they jacked up the price. I guess I'm looking at the freedom again.
@@shootthechit Interesting. I would have thought you’d say the 19”. You said that you didn’t move the saddle all the way up because you don’t need full leg extension. If you did move the saddle all the way up to get more leg extension, would you still be comfortable and would the seat post go up enough? Thanks for the review and for your quick response!
I just checked and right about at max extension is the proper length for my leg. I would feel pretty silly riding around with it at that height, so maybe the 19 would be best if you want to have it set completely ergonomic
What's up big dawg. I'm going to be 44 in a few months. I've been thinking about buying a bike for a couple of years now. And came across your channel. I really want this bike! I myself live on the left coast in eastern Washington state.
Tough question, If you get the Saber and love it you would probably progress to wanting this bike, but also if you haven't ridden a bike in awhile the FIVE Star is going to be a big shock to you. Can you rent or try someone's bike first?
Thanks.. I crashed my DJI drone and snapped one of the arms off, have you had any issues with yours? The object avoidance stopped working very well all the sudden and it would keep hitting things.
@shootthechit do you have a 3 or 4 drone? I had a 3 last year and crashed it a couple of times cause it had no side sensors. But the 4 works like a charm, I just hate that's its slow cause it's always picking up something close and slows down. I'm tempted to just put it on sport mode on some rides just so it can keep up.

Meaning I don't feel confident the dual star package will still be around or around the same price come next Feb when I'm ready to buy.
I think you’ll have to get the awd kit when it comes out.
Great video Tim, when you first showed the display I thought they had customized it with your name.
Hah, that would have been cool
Excellent Review Big Dawg! Much better than that other guy! Oh Hi Alex! 🤣🤣
Thanks for the video! When I buy I'll use your CHIT100 coupon code!
What are pedal strikes?
Pedal strikes are when your pedals hit the ground. Sometimes your pedals can hit the ground while cornering. You aren't really supposed to pedal while cornering hard tho
Needs a Gates belt drive to beat Lectric Lite as ebike of the year.
Pedaling 41.6....that is great!
Funny thing to me was that's exactly I did. 41.6 I'm lighter. Tim was definitely peddling harder. Lol
@@e-cells2222 ..after watching Tim and Alex's videos I am pondering selling my first bike...that I said I would never sell...because I can not carry a lot of weight without a wobble. I wanted to ride from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh but it will be near impossible on my existing "pedal style" bike. Your bike carries a lot of weight without a wobble...going to ponder.
@@IMBruceECLECTIC Yea you would really like loading that rack down!
Dude when you text a bike you really put it to the test. Awesome review, and another funny and informative video all in one. ☝️
Congratulations and I hope more e-bike companies send you more bikes to review.
What sets you apart from most other bike reviewers, is you know what you are talking about, and how to really push a bike to see if it can handle a hard ride 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Your vocabulary is the best AUDS can provide
Learned us good!
Always get the hammer before going to the swamp palace.
I came for the ProMAX Seat stem.. I guess I'll stay for the rest.
Nice
I have the step thru coming in july ❤❤❤
Just ordered a STEP STAR this mornin
@@johnnyutah7080 soo tough to wait!!!
great video chit&piss, i too like legs, but also racks, seats and kitty cats ;). that is a nice bike, but a love my wired freedom and my 2024 1/2 one that will be here at the end on the month. STAY WIRED :)
Wired Freedom has poorly designed rear suspension linkage. The bike flexes and should not. Check out the RUclips video about that.
@@willybrown55 hi i agree 100 percent . but they used thick material in the 2024 .5 , hope this helps it. i will see end of the month. my current 2024 has 3000 miles on it and i carry extra battery and alot of other stuff. i understand the flex is there, but i havent had any problems with the bike and love it.
I think the belt drive is not longer an option due to supply issues
@@shootthechit Yeah, I couldn't see it on the website.. My point is that Ebikes are changing so fast that it is possible that there will be the "perfect" option..
What's the real difference between the step and five star? Is it just the frame?
I haven't see a Step Star version in person but I assume its the step thru version of the Five Star. Looks like the same size battery, motor etc.
@gospoda2 I think the quarter twist throttle is fine, you get used to it super fast.
Great bike , Great video. I bought The 19 inch 5 Star with The Dual Star Upgrades and used your code. My question is What is the right size Lizard Skin stay protector for the frame? They have different sizes, just need to know the one you used looks like it fit great. A link would be helpful, brother.
This is the one I got. Fits nicely. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0186OQS8O?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I heard you can drive that bike through mud ,rain, snow and heat.
Nice review. I've been thinking about getting an e bike, but the cost on most of them just seems excessive.
Yea man, they are not cheap thats for sure
I have a 5 star and I too want to get a new derailleur. I was just curious what you would recommend. I was looking at microshift clutched, and shimano acera to start. I also want to make sure it will be compatible with the cassette and chain. What are your thoughts?
I got a microshift acolyte but I had to swap to an 8sp Freewheel. I couldn't find a clutched derailleur for a 7sp setup
@@shootthechit yeah that's what I'm looking at getting too probably. Any specific size to the groupset? I had some clanking on my front rack but found the headlight wire was the culprit. Once I got that tucked in no more front rack noise.
Dude! Sorry you did not get your pony. However, the bike is great.
That rattling is annoying. I can't believe Ecells hasn't addressed that. I've seen numerous complaints on the subject. I'd be willing to pay a little more for a quieter setup.
The display on this bike is the exact same as the wired bikes.
Yes. And many other bikes. Great display. Actually, Wired has dropped it, in their latest release. I like this one better.
Correct, and its my favorite out of all the bikes I've tried so far
I just bought my first ebike 3 weeks ago, I'm very tempted... How many ebikes does everyone own?
I plead the 5th amendment
You got my permission
It depends upon how you count. Initially, one was bought for me, my wife, and my step-son. I ordered a second one for my use in March. I am waiting for it to arrive at the time of this posting. All of the top performing eBikes have a waiting period right now (if you want the latest version with all the top features available).
My worry with the dual crown forks is that it'll raise the already high handlebars too high. Anyone have one with the dual crown and can comment? I know tail happy got his, but hes also 6'5
Get MTB handle bars then.
@@e-cells2222Hi, I ordered a Fivestar on April 25th, im wondering if my bike will have a thru axel instead of a quick release.
Cute cat
Hello is this the standard frame option or the the large ?
This is the 17". I wouldn't get a 19 unless you're really tall
@@shootthechit thank you
You want it to wobble?
Install a 14# battery in the rear, then sit your butt down on the seat..
So the the rear shock can be rotated after making any adjustments? Or it’s just completely stuck and condemned to bang against the battery ?
I got my shock all dialed in, then rotated it. You can still adjust rebound and compression, but you can't add or change your air pressure once its backwards.
Are the BMX handlebars thinner than the Wired? They look smaller.
The bottom section isn't as wide thats for sure, but I'm not sure about the overall width
You have a really cool putty tat. Would his name be Sylvester? On E-Cells display does changing C8 to 1 give you Motor temp? Like (the other guys)?
Yea it does but I haven't enabled it yet.
Great video!
Does the front fender and light have the same issues on the upgraded duel crown forks with movement and rattling?
What throttle only top speed were you getting with your 23 Cruiser? I regularly get 37/38mph on mine long as voltage is above 64/65v. That’s with me (195lbs) and about 30lbs of bolt ons/cargo. So a tad lighter than you but I thought this “upgraded” motor pushes ya 2-3mph faster?
Been awhile since I've ridden that bike , but going to test the speed on all of them in a bit
Wouldn’t run it through the gravel like you did, but I’ve got nail schizophrenia.😅
Five Star or Freedom? Which one would you order at this moment?
Freedom Cruiser, hands down
@@johns5504for a girl yes. Get the Ecells.
The e cells bike is from a much more legitimate company with a CEO that has a true passion for his products. Wired is just a quick buck company that you could have trouble with long term. They do not even honor legitimate warranty claims about their poorly designed and cheaply made rear suspension.
Very good point! And it seems Chit is definitely leaning towards them as well.
Ecells doesn't disclaim motor wattanty issues if you unleash the beast and they warranty it for TWO years. Ecells is there for the ebiker. We care about you
Does the second battery option have its own docking port in the rear cargo carrier, or is it just a place to store it until the first one runs down?
I'm pretty sure the dual star option has the 2nd battery mounted in the rack and attached to a battery balancer
Can you say what the seatpost diameter is?
I unlocked the speed limit which was only 41 mph. How can it go 49 mph speed?
I think they will cut off power at 45mph. Only way you can go faster than that is by pedaling and gravity.
@@shootthechit so only throtolle cann't be possible to achieve that speed ?
@@raja8806 No, fastest it will provide power to the motor is 45mph. You can verify this by using the throttle with the tire off the ground. Fastest I've been able to go on throttle only during a ride is 38mph
Tracks of Terror...Planks of Death....no Group Rides with You....🤔🤣😂
I'll pass on the sofa i want a lazy boy complete with a cup jolder and recliner and next test is the grand canyon jump Evel Knievel
NICEEE
I made the order on 7th May 2024 and today it is 12th May. Can you tell me how long it takes the time to place the order of E-cells Five Star properly?
It just showed up in my driveway with your name on it! Thanks
@@tenncutt so when can I get my ordered e-bike?
Waiting to hear if you guys raised the price of the 5 star?
I think they did due to the tariffs.. I don't work for E-Cells though...
That sucks. I already had my up grades punched in on my order form, and before I wanted to punch the credit card to send ,I had a couple of questions. Called twice, and never could get anyone. Now, they jacked up the price. I guess I'm looking at the freedom again.
Do the ones in stock now have the 4 piston 203 front and rear and solid front axle upgrades?
Im not sure about that
Nice!!
Maybe I’ve missed it but do you have the 17” or 19” version? I’m 6’3 and curious which one would fit better.
I have the 17, i would probably go with the 17 if I were you, I'm 6'2 and it fits nice. Either one would probably work well
@@shootthechit Interesting.
@@shootthechit Thanks again, very much appreciated!
What is in his left hand?
"Electrocuted Latina" 🤣🤣🤣
What kind of helmet are you wearing? I want one!
It's a Remi Retrospec, I got it on Amazon. amzn.to/3wxGyUl
Torque sensor or cadence sensor better on the 5 star?
I haven't tried the torque sensor so I can't answer that
Did you get this Ecells Five Star for free?
They sent me this bike for review yea
can the ecell endure riding the train tracks, like the wired ?
Lol all day long..
What's up big dawg. I'm going to be 44 in a few months. I've been thinking about buying a bike for a couple of years now. And came across your channel. I really want this bike! But I seen your video about the senada saber. I'm 6'2" 225. What do you think? Should I just buy the saber now and buy the 5 star next spring? I haven't ridden a bike in probably 25+ years. I myself live on the left coast in eastern Washington state.
Tough question, If you get the Saber and love it you would probably progress to wanting this bike, but also if you haven't ridden a bike in awhile the FIVE Star is going to be a big shock to you. Can you rent or try someone's bike first?
Just do it. 4 years backI was in same position. Didn't ride bike over 50 years. Now I regret- should done sooner. I got 2 ebikes now. 20" and 26" .
Wired????
Video stick?
Nice B-Roll
Thanks.. I crashed my DJI drone and snapped one of the arms off, have you had any issues with yours? The object avoidance stopped working very well all the sudden and it would keep hitting things.
@shootthechit do you have a 3 or 4 drone?
I had a 3 last year and crashed it a couple of times cause it had no side sensors. But the 4 works like a charm, I just hate that's its slow cause it's always picking up something close and slows down. I'm tempted to just put it on sport mode on some rides just so it can keep up.
@@E-Ryders I have the 3. Super annoying the controller isn't compatible with the 4, so you gotta buy the whole kit again. What a racket!
