From the factory, the throttle mapping has his bike neutered. It's still insane, but with a throttle mapping fix it becomes even more insane. Gains 40+ HP at the top end from a simple throttle mapping change.

Hey guys! Great work on this review. I have been intrigued by this machine ever since they released it. I have seen the GT in the flesh but I have not sat on one yet nor have I ridden one. I haven't really wanted to because I knew that if I did I may well end up wanting one. Ol' Man, Mate, you looked right at home on this machine! I really do like how they have engineered the rider triangle so that larger riders can be comfortable too. The cockpit, well... It's not bad. I think it's clever how they designed and laid everything out, but personally I think the display should be a bit larger. Or go with a full TFT. But I think I could get used to it. One thing that really got my attention was that Corbin, the legendary seat maker here in California, has created a touring solution for this bike that includes hard bags and a nice batwing fairing. A reverse gear would do wonders, planning how I had to park my old R3 on a steep driveway was an issue, she was a beast to manhandle. (and a handle bar mounted USB/charging point is a must).
I rode a Gt and an R , today at the Sturgis Rally. About a seven or eight mile round trip demo ride with a nice long straight section and a decent S curve . Both bikes are very easy to ride and the torque is amazing. I'm not long legged, but I still preferred the Gt.
I have watched a LOT of videos on the Rocket, and it seems like in half or more of the ones from England the streets are wet and gets the biked all mucked up. I guess it IS that rainy over there!!
I've been thinking about trading my Yamaha R1 and getting a Rocket 3, after watching this video I believe I am for sure. My wife hates riding on the R1 as a passenger, I think this would be much better, while still having that power and handling I like.thanks for a great review of this bike, best one I've seen yet.👍👍
Previous R3 owner here with over 130000klm on one 2005 R3 and near 40000k on another 2010 R3R . I've ridden the new R3R and was very impressed how much more nimble it was compared to my old R3. The brakes are amazing! My only criticism is that rear guard look, the panniers are too small and wind protection options aren't very good. I'm going to upgrade to either this or an Indian Challenger, though I would miss the power and torque of my old R3
Another awesome job at a review. Thank you. I really loved the GT when I tried it out a couple of years ago. The looks, the power, the handling and the rider comfort are top notch. Two things killed it for me, and for my wife who would be the passenger. She found the passenger accomodations cramped and uncomfortable. The big reason is the passenger pegs are too high, maybe due to to the exhaust setup. The other is the lack of a "proper" rear fender, which is a pet peeve of mine on several newer bikes. I ride in some very messy conditions, and the rear setup would make real mess of the passenger and the back end of the bike. I know its not a touring bike, but a touring version with these changes would have me beating down down the door at my dealer.
Hello Darcy & Mr. Ol'Man, Thank you for this very detailed video. Very impressive machine that makes you dream. Currently with a GTR 1400, my big legs have a little trouble (I'm 1.85m) and I hope one day to be able to own a Rocket GT. Sorry for my bad English, I’m French. Thank you for your channel ✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻

I'm waiting on delivery of a 22 GT Rocket and eagerly listen to a lot of reviews. I enjoyed this one, and as I am 6"2', similar to the reviewer, it's good to know he finds the forward foot pegs comfortable. What with the handle bars being wide, and the mirrors that stick out, I gather there wont be as much lane filtering going on which is a little disappointing, but then swings and round-a-bouts.
I think panniers are themselves aesthetically pleasing... conveyed through a sense of convenience and usefulness; these things make them nice to see and look at.
The dating metaphor nearly wandered into dangerous territory! I was slightly afraid as to where it was going to end up... Excellent video and awesome bike! Keep up the good work.
I just traded my 2019 Fat Boy on 4/12/22 for a 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT 221. Now all I need is some globull warming in Chicago so I can ride it. The seat on the R3 is about 3” higher than the Fat Boy so that’s something I need to get used to. I’ve had it a week and I’ve only been able to ride 140-miles due to the crap weather. Triumph recommends 1k-miles to completely break in so it will be a while before I can tear it up in sport mode. 😎🇬🇧
Great review. Would have been nice to see a bit more 'on the road' camera work perhaps. Where was the town you filmed in? Looks a lovely & historic town. The panniers, though not very big really suited the bike and didn't detract from the styling or look like an afterthought like some do. Great work as usual.

@@conanlive3784 yes it’s rarely dry!
Loving the goatee mr darcy
Thanks bro!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan We got the same.
Thanks buddy. Yes definitely more comfortable, nicer riding position and plenty fast enough! Have you seen our recent Rocket 3 Black edition review?
@@MrDarcy-OlMan no I haven't, I will check it out though 👍👍
I think the rocket 3 is perfect bike for the ol man 😀
Yes we're starting to think that!
Interesting comments! It would be awesome with a full fairing and screen!
Great review guys, good in-depth information. All I'm hearing about this bike is a positive vibe, so one to really consider for sure.
Thanks buddy. Yes it’s pretty good! Did you see our recent review of the Rocket 3 Black?
Yes good points there 💯👍🏼👍🏼
TRIK do a full rear fender-I have one on mine & it works!
Brave man in this weather
Yes it was wet, muddy and slippery!
Thank you for your channel
✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻
Merci! We love France!
Hopefully your dream will come true 👍🏼👍🏼
Agreed.. need more long wheelbase bikes. Not sure if K1600 is to your liking, but would enjoy seeing that review. 66 inch wheelbase and will still wheelie 😁
Thanks! Yes hopefully we can review that too asap 👍🏼
At 5’8” I’d probably go for the R. Not a fan of forward controls but a big fan of shaft drive and the layout of the bike looks very easy to live with.
Yes that’s a better option for fit. Yes shaft drive is great 👍🏼
4:35 Swiss Tony guest appearance. :-)
Great videos.
Great - but everyone watching this wanted to see you giving it big beans on a motorway!
Not everyone! It was 5 degrees, wet and dangerous so we couldn't do anything crazy
Awesome video.. really want a Triumph rocket gt now!
Awesome 👍🏼
Excellent video.
Once you ride a shaft drive bike, you'll never go back to a chain and sprockets or belt-drive bike.
Ex 2003 Honda VTX 1800 V-Twin owner here.
She gave me 40k+ smooth miles of fun.
I just can't imagine what it feels like a 0-60 in 2.7 sec on this Rocket-III .
This puts you at New C-8 Corvettes or Tesla's territory.
Definitely not a bike for beginners.
Congratulations frind
Great review seems ages since i test rode the R version , the Triumph Dealer has since closed down sad times.
Oh dear! Hard times
Great job Guys. Very good review. I am trying to decide which one to get the R or the GT. Thanks for making my decision tough. ;)
Thanks John. Hopefully you will choose what’s right for you 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm waiting on delivery of a 22 GT Rocket and eagerly listen to a lot of reviews.
I picked up a 2022 GT 221 two months ago, you will not regret it, it’s an awesome ride!
As she’s popping along I’m thinking of a WW2 hurricane fighter plane 🥰
Yes it's got some character!
Smashing reporting. Just Smashing!
Thanks buddy 💯
I think panniers are themselves aesthetically pleasing... conveyed through a sense of convenience and usefulness; these things make them nice to see and look at.
Yes they are not intrusive to the lines
The R3 forums say the bags aren’t waterproof, only hold 11-lbs, and have cheap zippers.💩💵
@@barackblows1942 That's disappointing to hear.
The dating metaphor nearly wandered into dangerous territory! I was slightly afraid as to where it was going to end up...
Excellent video and awesome bike! Keep up the good work.
Haha yes I kept myself in check! Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Excellent! I’ve had the same weather trouble with my bike.
Hopefully you can get out on it more soon 👍🏼
Beautiful bike and fantastic video!! ❤️
Thanks buddy! 👍🏼👍🏼
Great review. Would have been nice to see a bit more 'on the road' camera work perhaps. Where was the town you filmed in? Looks a lovely & historic town. The panniers, though not very big really suited the bike and didn't detract from the styling or look like an afterthought like some do. Great work as usual.
Thanks Alan 👍🏼
PS the town was Market Harborough
*_How many jackets are you wearing?_* Lol. Great review, as always!
Lol lot’s! It was freezing! 👍🏼
Awesome guys cheers 👍🏻
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
