    This motorcycle is for the taller larger man of the world. Yes, the torque is massive, and you will feel like you are being blown away. Arm and shoulder strength is recommended but it takes time to get used to the wind blast. I remember my very first ride onto the highway on a Triumph Bobber 1200CC, I actually thought about returning it. I had never experienced wind like that before, being that I mainly drove a car. I've been on a Ducati SS and my legs were limp at the end of the ride due to the bend angle on my knees. Triumph made the Rocket 3R Black Roadster edition specifically for the Man that fall in the 6 ft + and can man handle an 800lb beast.

    OC. I have the Rocket 3 R Black with windshield, backrest, luggage rack, quickshifter, heated grips and Bluetooth connectivity for navigation. Didn't get the bags, though - they are small, soft, with a zipper and an extra cover to become waterproof. The overall experience with this absolute torque beast is phenomenal, especially in the mountains and on the highway. The latter has partially no speed limit in Germany, so I found around 150mph manageable, but up to 100mph comfortable for longer rides. I'm annoyed only by the recurring notifications that the key is out of range or has low battery, even after the latter was replaced twice. Other than this minor detail, I find this bike perfect.
    FYI, the GT has different seat, handlebars and footpeg positioning, geared towards comfort rather than handling. Try both to see what fits you.

    I own a 2015 Triumph Rocket III. I am 6'2" 220 Lbs. I rode from California to Florida ( over 6,000 miles) and all across the United States. It doesn't have cruise control or hazzard lights, but plenty of room for luggage ( gym bags, etc). The power is addicting! I will be buying a new 2024 Rocket III for the cruise control and navigation. If you are timid,this ain't the bike for you. This is a MAN'S MOTRCYCLE. If you buy it, you will love it.

    For highway I fitted a powerbronze screen to my R and makes a huge difference at 80mph but most of time run as is, cos looks so damn low n mean 😎 😆 btw Sport mode makes a big difference to mpg Chase, so put in Road, no need for Sport for cruising, still hugely torque … short shifting and have got close to 190 miles + range, have averaged 42mpg over entire ownership… have ridden for 9 hours and super comfortable, zero fatigue but you want long arms.. and compared to a Diavel the Rochet is super smooth, it’s a 2500cc motor yet way smoother than any vtwin out there. I grip the tank with the tank pads :) just ignore the key fob message ******* it’s a keyless range thing, and you learn to stay in place and doesn’t ache Chase so I think comes down to sport v cruise riding style. Dude you could not be more spot on with the seat! It was a serious pain in the ass to break in and took a couple thousand miles!😂 Ice pack though, just buy it ahead of time- wish I would have. Seat breaks in very nicely though and now I can put hours on it with no problem. ALLEGEDLY you can cruise at 100+ mph upright (140ish stock and google the top end for re-maps but I wouldn’t know anything about that) with no problems once your body is conditioned. It’s kind of like getting a total body workout on an elliptical, a really fast elliptical.
    Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my bike. Just doesn’t feel safe with all the electrical issues I’ve had.
    I’ve got 7k miles on mine and promise you the GT doesn’t give you much more wind protection, I have all the dead bug evidence on jackets to prove it.
    Great video, nothing you said was all that far off; like anything in life or business it’s all about setting realistic expectations.
    I have two gripes on the bike but they are my own and not shared by the broader Rocket fan people community, trust me I’ve already heard their responses:
    1) low/no storage- buy a bagger and get over it they will say, most people that would want this bike in the first place won’t have time/interest/patience for Panniers. At least not in the US, at least from my experience. It’s a naked bike and I know what I signed up for. Honestly I didn’t think it would be so easy to ride for distance so now I have some tough decisions to make.
    2) For all the power and torque,,, the bike is terrible in 1st and 2nd- if you are like me and have a problem. That being said feel free to challenge a majority of 4 wheel vehicles as long as you stay away from the Tesla Plaid or something of the like- she is a beast and you will cry yourself to sleep for months afterwards due to the embarrassment and shame for not knowing better to read labels.
    Ride often. Ride safe. Thank you for the great video.
    P.S. Replace battery upon purchase, turn off key regularly or plan on replacing every 4-8 months.
    P.P.S. My bike has had a litany of electrical issues: turn signals, brake lights, gas gauge, now headlights… Don’t get me wrong, dealer takes care of them all but honestly how does Triumph get away with stuff like that? Forums all the time are talking about issues with rear brakes!? I’d swap mine out right now if I could, for same model- I love this bike and she is worth the extra effort. Just doesn’t feel like that should happen given the money they had me pay.
    I hate that it’s the middle of riding season and I have to drop it off for the 5th time and I’m in Minnesota so there isn’t much of a riding season already. I mean it’s a 2022,,, God Bless British engineering I guess.

It also has handbars heater. I left a deposit on a GT Triple Black and plan to use it for touring. Would be great to hear your comparison between both.

      Tried the GT (not black edition, which anyway is just a collectible for too much money), and I will never say it enough : Rocket 3 IS NOT a cruiser, even with Triumph trying to put windscreen, front foot controls and higher bar. It is a POWER roadster. I finally bought a nice R3R (hate the fake cruiser style of th GT), and it is exactly that : TOO MUCH power and torque, you need to be a lumberjack to throw it in curves for more than 10mn, nut man this is exactly what I was looking for😁
      Don't even bother trying it if you're looking for a cruiser.

    • @AlexAnyways
      @AlexAnyways Год назад +5

      @@dimitripinto4747 you can't get too much money as you can't get too much power. But hey, I respect your thoughts and sincerely do not really care if people like my bike or not, I bought it for my own pleasure.
      By the way, not sure you can get a good idea only with a road test. Mine now has 13.500 km and I just get back from a 4300km trip in 11 days and it was amazing. I had the 25L Triumph luggage on it + a SW-Motech drybag 350 and it was like nothing was on it. All the power makes it a blast to run and it was still as nimble as if nothing was on its back. And no need to work it hard on twisties. Off course, if you try to make it lean with your weight you'll find it hard. But just use counter sterring as you should on every bike and it will flick right at the moment you think about doing it. It is surely not as comfortable as a Goldwin but I'm 47 and no pain at all after the trip. Only downside honestly, the gas tank is too small. Made 277km on my longest ride.

      I ride a Harley Street Bob with no fairing. It’s perfect for commuting and cruising. I run 70 to 80 on the highway and it is fine. It’s a little gusty over 80 my comfort zone is in the 80’s so it’s fine for me. If I was going to do long tours I might get a fairing but I don’t spend all day on mine. It has the mid controls with forward mustache bar to rest my feet. I don’t leave them out front that long. I’ll put my feet out to stretch out but have never adapted that as my default position.

    My old 2012 Rocket was about the same on the highway, above 85 and it was tough, however, I did have a bit of a bigger fly screen, and i had highway pegs so i could stretch out my legs ( i commuted 80 miles a day on it, mostly on the toll road where the speed limit is 85. If i wanted to go faster, i would often put my feet on the rear passenger pegs to adopt a more sport bike position, and I could easily cruise at over 100 like that.

    “Key fob out of range” just means it’s a reception issue. It SHOULDN’T shut off IF it stops detecting the key. The keyless ignition systems GENERALLY only require the key for starting. I accidentally left my Subaru key on my kitchen counter and left home without it. The car let me know that the key was missing but didn’t lock me into park or disable driving.

    • @3diXoo
      @3diXoo 2 года назад +2

      Correct, own a 2018 Speed Triple RS with key fob.
      To not get the out of range error I need to have the key the left pocket of my pants and not near my cellphone. If it doesn't start the key needs to be near the seat for a short while and it will start. The bike will never shut off when the key is out of range. I can even leave the key at home once it is started.

    I love my 21 Rocket 3 r, really great ride. The only thing that I don't like is the $$$450 usd price on that rear tire. only two Companies make em Metzler and Avon. I bought a replacement and a few months later it got punctured. so was $900 bucks down the drain. I know everything costs money but I really hope a couple of other tire companies catch on and start making them at half the price. 😏😏❤

    I have a Rocket (2022) GT. I have seen several videos where fuel mileage is mentioned. Did you notice it has a large engine? An engine displacement of 2458cc. What is so damn important about gas mileage. I owned a 2002 Boss Hoss 502CI bike as well. It got 8 miles per gallon. I don't care what kind of mileage it gets. I didn't purchase the thing for great fuel mileage. I purchased the Rocket because of its engineering and design.

    OC: I bought a GT last year and have done nearly 12k miles, traveling from Vegas to Phoenix and a ton of city and little trips round Vegas. The R's foot position just didn't feel right to me and I'm glad I went GT. A friend of mine bought an R but hated the wind blast so he put the screen from the GT on his R and it solved that issue

    Im not sure these complaints are valid because this is not what you normally ride. The wind screen can buy aftermarket, and the back rest dose nothing for driver and the additional higher price for wind screen heated grips and back rest and forward pedal for the same ride feel for myself i like the R over GT

  • @jondredd
    @jondredd Год назад +1

    I prefer the R version for the foot peg position, and it looks more aggressive, especially if you are not on the highway a lot. You can always get specific GT parts and swap to suit your preference, but still keep the black model look. Check out Corbin Saddles for custom aftermarket seat options, and I've seen a couple decent looking aftermarket windshield options around too. In my opinion, if you are looking to decide between the R and GT version of this bike, you should base your decision on the foot control position, which is placed in different locations for each model. All of the other differences between the two models can be easily switched over and changed. The very best mod for either model is still the shift assist (quick shift) option!

    Everyone who reviews this bike whines about the key. The regular key (not the key fob) will start the bike. Otherwise turn the key fob off when you aren't riding, or change the battery in the fob if you can't seem to remember that. After owning this bike for 3 months, I've come to learn that the reviewers know very little about the operation of the bike and offer many opinions about operating but don't know about it. The manual is loaded with info.

    Thank you for this video, the bike is tits....but I use to ride the MT09, which is a naked bike, and I traded it in for an R6....why? The wind protection was horrible, and I tried a aftermarket screen which did not help.
    My advice , if you truly enjoy top speed and going fast, while being comfy....this is not the bike for you.
    But if you like cruising, and hitting some canyons...this bike is for you.

    I test drove a rocket a few days ago ready to say take my money before I got on. After about a half hour I came to the conclusion that this was not the bike for me.
    It was powerful and very Torquay however it felt like a truck, I felt intimidated by it and I’m not a little guy. I’ve since test driven to Ducati Diavel 1260 S.
    Better styling in my opinion extremely more comfortable than the rocket more maneuverable and super fun to ride this I found out after only a few minutes of riding.
    I know there’s a love for the rocket and a lot of you guys like it but it simply was not the bike for me
