Or the time they were in that place with the well and he stuck his face down it and yelled “HODOR!” Or the time when Bran called for Hodor and Hodor said “Hodor”. Classic Hodor. R.I.P..... or should I say Hodor.
@@wreckingKREW1 Has someone out there written a really great crossover fanfic that's just one long conversation between Hodor and Groot? On the one hand it would be extremely easy to write... On the other hand, to make it really entertaining would take some mad skillz.
Hodor didn't die for his King, or the Realm. Not for Gold or for Glory. Not to serve a Noble House or bring down another. Not because it was his duty or he had been told to. Not for revenge or power. He lived the most innocent life and died for the simplest, purest reason - to help his friends. Which ironically gave him the most noble, honourable sacrifice in the entire show. Sleep well Hodor, the smiling giant.
saddest death of the series. Most innocent character biting the dust right there. RIP Hodor. He had one job to do, and he did it well....*spoilers in comment section because people are the worst. So be weary..*
I absolutely agree. Although I think Shireen's death was on par, but for me at least it was overshadowed by my anger at Stannis. Like how, how could he do that to his own daughter that he loved???
I agree completely. Hodor reminded me of someone very close to my heart. I instantly loved him, and was beyond consoling when this episode aired. Hodor was my happy place on this show, but I was glad he had a heroes death. 😪💔😪💖
I think this is right on the nose. Jojen talks about how Bran will forget who he is the more he 'wargs', that he'll be more Summer than Bran. And the show doesn't feature as much of Bran doing this to Hodor, but in the books he actually spends a fair amount of time in Hodor, and sometimes he can't tell if a thought is his or if it is Hodor's. Not to mention, once absorbing all the information from the 3-Eyed-Raven, the piece of him that is Bran becomes even smaller than before. So when he loses parts of himself (Summer and Hodor in this instance), what's really left but the 3-Eyed-Raven?
That was Ned's father Rickard Stark talking to young Ned before he went to the Vale (along with Robert Baratheon) to be trained by Jon Arryn. Remember in the first season Cat says Jon Arryn was "like a father" to Ned - that's where that came from. Also, interesting fact, Ned named his oldest two boys after his best friends (Jon Snow = Jon Arryn and Robb = Robert Baratheon) and his youngest sons after his family (Bran = Brandon Stark, Ned's brother, and Rickon = Rickard Stark, Ned's father).
Thanks, Kristin, for this information about my favorite family. Just when you think you've caught all the nuances of GOT, there is still so much more to know … LOL!!! …. PEACE to ALL.
Fun fact: The guy who plays Tormund had the idea of his character falling for Brienne and took it to the showrunners, who gave their approval. It wasn't written in the script.
Absolutely lacerating. That young actor did an amazing job in the crucial scene, it could have been ridiculous but he made it heart-rending. Hated every second of it, but it was brilliant. I felt this one right there with you.
Brienne is not disgusted by Tormund so much as she's simply confused because she can't understand why a guy is looking at her in a way that no other guy has before. She is disgusted in a way. Its more like she's thinking "I'm an ugly lumbering beast. Why the hell are you interested in someone like me? There must be something wrong with you to be interested."
Okay, I know this comment is 2 years late, but dude, WTF? No, that is completely reductive of her character and sense of self. Brienne had a flawed and stilted (and perfectly written and executed) romance with Jaime, and she grew as a character because of it. The thing with Tormund is just a gag for laughs - a fan service way for people to ship a new pair of characters. Don't demean Brienne's self-confidence and understanding of her own womanhood that she has so rightfully earned throughout her character arc (back when this show was written with tact and skill). By driving her back into that perspective of "UwU I'm just a big ugly girl, no man could ever love me", you are doing her, and by extension women, a disservice. She's a battle-weary badass in the middle of a war for humanity, and Tormund's immature lust is beneath her. She finds it perplexing, insulting and ridiculous, and quite rightly so.
@@1lamafarmer It doesn't seem as though you understood Brienne's character at all. Yes, I agree that Brienne's relationship with Jaime made her character grow. And whether it was a perfectly written and executed is a subject for debate. Either way, the writers managed to throw a match into the entire thing in less than a few episodes. But that is the subject of another discussion. If you knew Brienne's character at all, you would know that she suffered from a serious self confidence issue in terms of her looks and ability to have a relationship with the opposite sex. She understood that her nickname of "Brienne the beauty" was meant in jest. The thing with Tormund happened before the relationship with Jamie advanced to the point past anything other than mutual respect for each other. They weren't romantically involved yet. She absolutely thought of herself as ugly and that no man could love her in that way. These aren't opinions, these are facts. And do me a favor and don't make this damn conversation about women in general. I'm talking about one character and one only. To spin this into a sexist issue will be unproductive and undeserved. As far as her feelings when Tormund was ogling her, in truth it is all speculation regardless. She never states her feelings about it out loud. So neither you or myself really has any clue what she thought for certain.
@@1lamafarmer two things can be right at once, Jeremy was right too Brienne was traumatized by childhood trauma because guys were mean to be her about her appearance to point that she chose a life of being a knight because she feed into those comments people have been telling her, her whole life. That' doesn't take away from her bond with Jamie, but Jeremy right when your made to feel ugly your whole life it's hard to take when someone looks at you like that.
I found his death so tragic, so deeply sad. Imagine being a kid and getting such a shock with knowing the future, knowing how you are going to die, and then living with it until the day it happens.
I understand Leaf was supposed to be the last of the Children of the Forest, so a whole species went down in this episode; and she sacrificed herself to save Bran.
Did you guys catch onto the hints with the Direwolfs names yet? Summer died, now comes winter. Ghost, Jons death/Resurrection. @@Chris-gu5lt That probably links to the idea of a Shaggy-dog story which is 100% Rickon in GoT. Google definition is "a long, rambling story or joke, typically one that is amusing only because it is absurdly inconsequential or pointless."

This is super late but yes! She was a really sweet girl and didn’t deserve that, but she was sacrificed, so it made me sad and angry. Hodor instead sacrificed himself for his friends, and it just broke my heart completely.
First time I saw this episode was just sooooo. I felt broken after this one. The Red Wedding was shocking. Jon Snow being stabbed to death was shocking. This was just such a mind fuck of a tradgedy. Hodor didn't just die, he was mentally broken as a child by experiencing his own death.
@@joost199207 Well, he is a "Lord". They are trained to sacrifice their ppl if need be. I mean look what Rob did. He sacrificed 2000 of his own ppl so tht he could capture ONE! And Stannis sacrificed his only child, his fucking daughter, just to melt some snow and make it easier to go into battle, where he then sacrificed his own men! Unfortunately, putting their lives above everyone else's is the way of the Lords, Ladies, and Kings od this world. So Bran was really only doing what he was taught to do.
Lumor Hodor knew this entire time and willingly went along with it. Brann's not bad, he didn't even know what he was doing, and the Three-Eyed Raven encouraged him to go along with it, remember that.
Yea i'm not entirely sure on this. It seems like Brann took control (and seemed implied) of Hodor from the past, that's why Brann is still unconcious when Meera takes him away. Or did i miss something and did Hodor actually decide for himself? This episode is such a mindfuck....
@@joost199207 But the three eyed raven told Bran to "listen to your friend" Bran didn't know that warging into Hodor in the present would affect Willis in the past. We see Bran only seeing the past and what's happening to Willis there, not what's going on in the present so Meera telling Hodor to hold the door isn't she also to blame? Bran was still in his vision of Willis becoming Hodor not realising fully what's going on in the present. The three eyed raven took him to that point knowing Bran wouldn't be able to get out of his download situation (becoming the three eyed raven or becoming not Bran but soulless) knowing Hodor had to be sacrificed for Bran to carry on his legacy as the three eyed raven. I don't think Bran is the only one to blame here, I feel the three eyed raven and Meera was more to blame, Meera was in control of present Hodor which is why she had to tell him to hold the door and the three eyed raven told Bran specifically "listen to your friend" so he was going to follow Meera's instructions for Hodor while he was stuck in the vision. Bran was confused by what he was seeing and feeling I believe.
I never thought about the Night King being a possible Stark ancestor. There may be power in the Stark blood, the power to warg and the power of true visions, which most strongly manifests in Bran, but remember Rickon and Bran shared the dream about Ned dying. All the Stark children shared strong connections with their dire wolves as well which might be a part of this power. The creation of the Night King looked like it was supposed to be an execution, but perhaps the Stark blood abilities instead transformed into something utterly terrifying rather than killing him. If the children couldn't kill him by stabbing him through the heart, perhaps others will find similar difficulties slaying him. Maybe in the end it will take a Stark wielding the powers of the Stark blood to kill him.
Also, maybe Nikki is a Stark and her eye makeup is a manifestation of her Stark blood. Every time she decides to wear eye makeup is a true vision telling her she will cry!
@sableghost it wasn't an execution the children created him to fight against the first men they even said it after Bran witnessed it but for some yet unknown reason they lost control and he turned against them and everything else.
The death of Hodor was heart wrenching but I always get the chills because the one thing you can be sure of is that he’s going to hold that damned door to protect Bran. Hodor was always a sweet innocent giant - even looking in horror at his bloody hands when they fled Craster’s Keep in season 3 - but he spent his life protecting Bran. The look of hard, doomed determination on his face, laying his massive frame against that door 🚪 to give Bran time to escape, feeling the claws and weapons rip at him... but holding the door despite the pain and fear... just holding the door... his face intense through the fear and anguish... he held the door. 😢 Hodor.
Speaking of Dothraki vs unsullied, in Essos, outside the walls of the city of Qohor, a mere 3000 unsullied soldiers soundly defeated 20,000 Dothraki screamers. Just something to keep in mind ;)
Vincent Jamesderamo The earliest mention of the battle in the novels that said there were 50,000 dothraki, but the subsequent mentions and the official recounting the The World of Ice and Fire retconned the number to 20,000. GRRM hasn’t commented on his reasoning for the change.
It wasnt defeated I think. If I remember correctly they resisted like 15 charges from the Dothraki forces which is very impressive. The dothraki could've easily surrounded them or hit the unsullied lines from behind but in they chose to keep hitting them in the front because of their philosophy.
Nooo, I've been dreading this episode. So, so sad, Hodor really died alone at the very end, nobody in his sight, nothing but bravery. Now somebody HAS to send Nikki and Steven the Hodor door stopper. It's a must.
OK, scratch this theory...apparently whenever Hodor gets warg'd, his eyes go white momentarily and then become normal. (per someone who went back and checked all previous scenes)
By the end I’m pretty sure that Hodor was holding the door of his own free will. If Bran was still warged into Hodor while Hodor died, Bran would have survived but it would likely have messed him up, and also affected his “downloading” of the Three Eyed Ravens visions.
The Dothraki are the most badass calvary. The unsullied are the most badass infantry. Of course dragons are the most badass heavy bombardment air support. Daenerys' army is complete and filled with the best of the best. All she needs now is a navy.
In a pitched battle I think actually armored Westerosi cavalry win. Except the Dothraki would never fight a force like the Knights of the Vale head on, they would go around and hit a softer target. Otherwise I agree
If you really think about it's totally crazy and brilliant, Hodor's life, literally his entire life has led up to this moment, the whole purpose of his existence was meant for that moment when he held the door. Georgr R.R Martin is a genuis.
Well, Bran _made_ it his purpose. In the behind the scenes stuff they really stressed that despite the necessity of it in the moment, Bran basically ruined Hodor's life. And in thr books, warging into humans is explicitly taboo because of the psychological damage it causes, and it terrifies Hodor when Bran does it to him.
I remember in the after show bit Dan and Dave talked about how they'd met with George and he told them his plot outline for the remainder of the show. They were floored when he told them about Hodor.
The little boy was Ned Stark and the other one was Rickard Stark who is Ned's father and was burned alive by Aerys Targaryen II (The Mad King) Edit: Because people are arguing that I'm wrong? The smallest is Benjen (Ned's little brother) The girl that was on the horse is Lyanna (Ned's sister)
Uhmmm, I think you have tht wrong. The little little one was Benjin. The middling one was Ned. The girl was Leanna. And the grown man was Rickard, who was Neds father, who was burned alive. They never showed neds oldest brother Brandon, who was also burned alive. He even calls the middling one Ned, when he tells him if he must fight, then win.
Correct. Based on the conversation, this is right before Ned began his fosterage with Jon Arryn. GRRM said that in Westeros (the same in our real history) different noble houses will set up a foster child relationship with other noble houses to provide training and to establish alliances and friendships. Kids like Ned will leave home and be reared for a few years and return when they're around mid teens. That's why Jon Arryns death was such a big jumping off point for the events of this show/book series. Ned and The Almighty King Bob were raised in the ways of tactics, knighthood, etc by Jon Arryn. He was essentially a second father to them.
The episode where I cried for half an hour. Greeeeeaaaaat. What hurts me the most is that Hodor was a character with no hidden agenda, no secret motive, nothing but goodness and gentleness in his heart. And he still ended up suffering.
i cried when Ned died, i cried at TRW, i cried when Jon died, i cried when Hodor died, sometimes i look back and cry when Ned had his last words with Jon. Jon Snow FTW
RIP Hodor & Summer :( On a bright note, I would love to see a sitcom where Tormund follows Brienne around trying to impress her and win her affection. They could call it "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" As for Steven's question about Dothraki vs Unsullied, there is a story about 3,000 Unsullied defending a city against 25,000 Dothraki. After 4 days of fighting the Khal and 12,000 Dothraki were dead. Only 600 Unsullied remained but the Dothraki gave up. Each warrior cut off his hair as a sign of shame and laid his braid at the feet of the Unsullied.
Not all heroes wear capes, some just hold the door... R.I.P Hodor and Summer, Bran naming him that is appropriate because winter is coming. And OMG at Nikki calling out the Bran Night King resemblance, a popular theory is that Bran is the Night King/relative to the Night King in some way. I don't think so but it's possible that he's related to the Starks. The Starks have a long history with the name Brandon/Bran and they are direct descendants of the First Men (which is what that man on the tree was). Whenever you guys finish this season you should definitely look into the history of House Stark.
The guy on the tree was not a first man. He was brynden rivers. The bloodraven a targaryen bastard that was hand of the king and sent to the wall and became lord commander and disappeared beyond the wall
@@HookedTapater he was talking about the guy that the Children used to create the first White Walker. Legend has it, he might have been a Stark (Old Nan told that to Bran, so for me it is almost Gospel)
@HookedTapater - He/she's talking about the guy the children stuck with dragon glass not the three eyed raven. Also in the show three eyed raven says he's 'thousands of years old' so I don't think show canon he's Brynden.
I actually believe Bran is the Three Eyed Raven visiting himself in a loop. I know that Bran is the next Three Eyed Raven, but what if the old man guiding him is Bran too? I mean, Bran itself is Irish for Raven. Don't know if it's confirmed.
Nikki's take on the fact that Bran and The Night King look alike it's very valid. There's one (of many) last season's theories that states that there's a possibility that Bran and The Knight King are the same person D:
@@fuckenaye hopefully, still doesn't explain why bran in the present reacted in pain and grabbed the branch of the weirwood tree, when the human becoming the night king got stabbed in the past.

emmainkeri They had the money, I wish they had done some version of 300, to show them in battle and how they are really are the greatest army. I think they did well with the Dothraki, but the Unsullied are a superior army.
“The only tricky part was doors. Sometimes Hodor forgot that he had Bran on his back, and that could be painful when he went through a door.” - Bran VI, A Game of Thrones
Varys didn't really tell anyone but Tyrion. If you think about it Melisandre knew things about Jon that nobody but Ygritte knew. "You know nothing Jon Snow" and so Kinvara knows things about Varys nobody knows.
The other person who would have known what happened to Varys was the sorceror himself. He lived in freedom for a good 30+ years before Varys got hold of him, and we know almost nothing about him. Who knows who he might have told that story to, or how many other boys he might have performed this ritual on.
ianwestc To be fair, even if both heard the voice, it could've said different things to each of them. Hell, for all we know the sorcerer didn't hear it at all even if he was the one to summon it. Edit: Varys isn't a dummy so he would've accounted for the sorcerer telling others if that was a possibility. The fact he was so shocked means he knows there's no possible way she couldn't learned of the existence of the voice or what it said through normal means.
28:22 So in the books there is no character called the Night King (at least not yet) but there is a legend of the Night’s King. He was the 13th lord commander of the Night’s Watch, and he fell in love with a woman who had pale white skin and starry blue eyes. He married her and declared himself the Night’s King and her his corpse bride. They ruled at the Nightfort for 13 years before they were defeated. Afterwards all records of his name were destroyed, but when Old Nan told Bran this story she said she believed the Night’s King was a Stark named Brandon.
RIP Hodor...His death made even sadder as he was a totally innocent player. Unreal that GRRM knew this from the very beginning and absolutely no one caught on. Nikki, you had it figured out after the second or third "hold the door". (there are actually real door stops available that say Hodor). Where does Bran go from here? Can he and Meera escape the wights thru the forest in a sled? You guys continue to excel at this...well done! TC
I certainly know the feeling...truly annoying. I made the mistake a couple of years ago by opening vids of theories and predictions and was spoiled the same way. I don't look at them any more. The wait between seasons is excruciating!!
He MOST definitely held that damn door, Hodor is a beast, and the north remembers! Stannis was incredibly rich, he brought maesters/doctors/priests from all around the realms to cure his daughter. Yes, she was cured! But I am not sure Jorah has the resources!
Excellent reaction footage, and excellent post-show discussion. I’m a little surprised there wasn’t more about Hodor, though. That scene hit me HARD, and still does. The thought that the dude was scarred for life by getting a glimpse of his destiny, all in the service of Bran’s quest... it’s heart-wrenching.
This episode just puts to show how great George R. R. Martin is at writing. When he started writing *A Game of Thrones* he already had the whole story planned out (Hodor, Hold the door).
Fun fact the night king is played by actor Richard Brake who also played the mugger that murdered Bruce Wayne’s parents in Batman Begins that characters name “Joe Chill”
Valar Morghulis: All men must die. Valar Dohaeris: All men must serve. It is the ultimate act of service, to die while holding the door. And isn't that what all our tragic heroes are doing...losing their lives in an attempt to hold the door? To prevent something worse from entering into the world? To give some small protection to humanity? To buy time? To sound the alarm? To caution of the threat in our midst? Even Robb Stark served to warn that the old rules (guest rights) were no longer being honored and that law had turned to lawlessness. Trust was gone from the dealings of men. Winter is coming. Yes, it is.
This is no where near confirmed, so its not really spoilery, just wanted to point out that the 3-Eyed Raven intentionally led Bran into a somewhat mundane memory, that contained young Hodor, likely because he knew Bran needed to screw him up, in order to secure his survival 30 years later, since the Raven can see the future. And thus the possibility of time travel/paradoxes has opened up into this medieval fantasy zombie survival political thriller. George knows no bounds. No one is safe.

Damn you GOT... here we go again... Hold the tears, I mean the door. By the way, the theory about Bran / The Night King, maybe not so ludicrous... nobody knows for sure, just a fan theory, but it looks like they are connected in some way? And I have to stop here to avoid some possible spoilers. And yes, Summer had to die because, well: winter is already here.
This is for me, one of the saddest episodes in GOT. It just tore me up. It is crazy how much we came to love his character even tho’ he only had one word of dialog for 6 seasons. Btw, this was not the show writers who made this up. They said that GRRM told them about how hodor got his name and how his life was wrecked. The show writers were shocked by this. I feel for you two on this one. We all cried. So now maybe someone will get you one of the Hodor memorial doorstops.
Yeah so, I just started watching these and honestly am tearing up and loving you guys reactions. I was going to rewatch the series because I watched them when they first came out. You guys are amazing.
I watch a lot of GoT reactions (been waiting for the books forever so 😂) and they are one of the best reactors I have watched. Another channel that I am enjoying is Bridgeco. They haven't finished watching the show yet. But they are on Season 6, and they upload consistently. Don't Trust Hannah is good, too, but she doesn't upload regularly.
One interesting point about the drowning ritual - it's one of the things that make the Ironborn islanders such good pirates and sailors. They don't fear drowning because they've already drowned before. As such they tend to take risks that other sailors don't and they tend not to panic in naval combat.
Maybe there's something I've forgotten but I don't think they make all of the islanders go through the drowning ritual (Theon was only "baptized" when he came home for the first time), just the kings. Still, if they do this every time they need a new king, I can't help but wonder how many wannabe kings they go through. ""Okay then, claimant number six . . . oops, I mean seven, sorry, I lost count, didn't make it. Anyone else want to claim the Salt Throne? Anyone? Anyone?"
Its not a surprise that Bran looks like the knights King, the Stark's are descendants of the first men and the man turned by the Children was probably a Stark but that was thousands of years ago, the first men arrived in Westeros, and it was unpopulated by men. But the Children have striking similarities to the old northern European Gods similar to the Druids the Vikings Celts and Pict's especially with the Tree's as a focal point of worship and stone Circles/Henges. And the red woman who frightened Varus was wearing a identical necklace to Melisandre, so if you hook up with a hot looking chick wearing that necklace, just know you are going to wake up next to something really nasty in the morning.
The man talking to the boy was Rickard Stark, Ned's father, and the boy was Ned. Ned and Robert Baratheon both were sent to the Vale to be Jon Arryn's wards. That's how they became such good friends. They grew up together. Rickard Stark and Ned's older brother Brandon were the ones burned alive by the Mad King at the beginning of Robert's rebellion.
One of, if not the best examples of the genius writings that Game of Thrones has. The fact that this has been in place since the very beginning is brilliant.
The discussion between the Starks was Ned (the little boy) and his father, right before Ned went to foster under Jon Arryn in the vale. Where he grew up with Robert Baratheon.
Actually, in battle of Qohor were 12.000 Dothraki against 3.000 Unsullied. The Unsullied won! And each Dothraki man cut off his braid and threw it down before the Unsullied.
Raoul Vi I find that extremely hard to believe when the unsullied have been dying left and right to enemies that aren’t even fighters. They have been a joke since they left Astaphor.
They were being ambushed in small groups or individually by women or children. It was guerrilla tactics and that's the more effective and annoying thing a weaker enemy can use against your forces.
Juan Loera I’ve still yet to see one instance in the show where the unsullied lived up to being the badass warriors who also fight through and feel no pain, just as they were made out to be when they were first introduced.

Or the time they were in that place with the well and he stuck his face down it and yelled “HODOR!”
Or the time when Bran called for Hodor and Hodor said “Hodor”.
Classic Hodor.
R.I.P..... or should I say Hodor.
Thanks, Apollo for sharing some of your favourite Hodor quotes. That was really nice.
Hodor and Groot...they just write the best lines for those characters.
@@wreckingKREW1
Has someone out there written a really great crossover fanfic that's just one long conversation between Hodor and Groot?
On the one hand it would be extremely easy to write...
On the other hand, to make it really entertaining would take some mad skillz.
Can we all laugh at the fact that Hodor has had more lines than Rickon?
Absolutely, I think I speak for everyone here by simply adding... Hodor.

Nice one.
Nice one ^^ But actually it was inevitable because, as Meera rightfully said, Bran died in that cave.
That was lame and funny at the same time
Why do ya gotta make that worse
saddest death of the series.
Spoiler!!! Don't tell them that Dany is alive till season 8!
And he sacrifice twice to do this job. He sacrificed his wits as a child and his life to save Bran and Meara.
I agree completely. Hodor reminded me of someone very close to my heart. I instantly loved him, and was beyond consoling when this episode aired. Hodor was my happy place on this show, but I was glad he had a heroes death. 😪💔😪💖
Summer is over. Winter is almost here
Bran's face when he realized what is happening.. he is an amazing actor. every actor in this show is just amazing
Thanks for that. I don't think he gets enough credit for his work on this show.
i think it's partly why he loses his emotions following this. Hodor took his last bit of humanity
Yeah that young man is underrated. He’s gonna be the main man in the end game if the big theories are to be believed too
@@euanharrison7125 u were right
That was Ned's father Rickard Stark talking to young Ned before he went to the Vale (along with Robert Baratheon) to be trained by Jon Arryn.
Interesting choice of words Kristin 😉

There was a Stark Lord named Rickon Stark before the Dance of Dragons (Targaryen civil war). He was the father of the famous Lord Cregan Stark.
Fun fact: The guy who plays Tormund had the idea of his character falling for Brienne and took it to the showrunners, who gave their approval. It wasn't written in the script.

Summer is over. leaf has fallen, hold the door, for winter has come.
I understand Leaf was supposed to be the last of the Children of the Forest, so a whole species went down in this episode; and she sacrificed herself to save Bran.
there might be more children on the god's eye.
Never even made that “leaf has fallen” connection. Has to be intentional.

Hodor’s scene is the most heartbreaking moment in the whole series, I think. Even more than the Red Wedding and Shireen’s death.
This is super late but yes! She was a really sweet girl and didn’t deserve that, but she was sacrificed, so it made me sad and angry. Hodor instead sacrificed himself for his friends, and it just broke my heart completely.
Shireens death is the worst. Only time I felt like they really took it too far.
Basically Brann forced him to hold the door and die AND fucked up his whole life until that point because of it.
Brann's an asshole lol.
Hodor's death was literally the most dramatic for me. I cried so much times watching this episode...
Nikki you aren't the only one who has this theory about the Night King.
There's a theory Bran wargs into the Night King ... thousands of years in the past
it could also be brans stuck in old night kings body and that how he became night king and uses said power trapped in past
@sableghost it wasn't an execution the children created him to fight against the first men they even said it after Bran witnessed it but for some yet unknown reason they lost control and he turned against them and everything else.
Steven: "Its a vision, they can't touch him."
Nightking: "Hold my beer."
Hodor: "Hold my door"
Heroes died like fools and fool died like a hero
Rip hodor😭
no overthinking, no trying to escape your death, he knew what he had to do and he freaking did it.
😢
Hodor.
you should totally do two parts for 6x9 and maybe even three parts for season 6 finale

Totes!!
Ramsay snow is almost exactly how I imagine The Joker to be in real life. It's so fun to hate him.
We just watched the death of Wylis, the birth of Hodor and the death of Hodor in like 5 minutes.
Speaking of Dothraki vs unsullied, in Essos, outside the walls of the city of Qohor, a mere 3000 unsullied soldiers soundly defeated 20,000 Dothraki screamers. Just something to keep in mind ;)
yes and dany have both.
i thought there where more dothraki than that. that where defeated in that battle
I've always wondered about this. Was Hodor holding the door of his own free will? His eyes are not warg-white at the end.
Paul Gonzalez Doesn't explain the sadness on his face.
OK, scratch this theory...apparently whenever Hodor gets warg'd, his eyes go white momentarily and then become normal. (per someone who went back and checked all previous scenes)
That darned door stopper spoiled it for me the day the episode came out, before I could even watch it. Some idiot just HAD to share it on Facebook.
Dothraki are good light cavalry and skirmishers, but not really a heavy shock charge force that you would send to break up an infantry line.
The little boy was Ned Stark and the other one was Rickard Stark who is Ned's father and was burned alive by Aerys Targaryen II (The Mad King)
Edit: Because people are arguing that I'm wrong?
The smallest is Benjen (Ned's little brother)
The girl that was on the horse is Lyanna (Ned's sister)
Uhmmm, I think you have tht wrong. The little little one was Benjin. The middling one was Ned. The girl was Leanna. And the grown man was Rickard, who was Neds father, who was burned alive. They never showed neds oldest brother Brandon, who was also burned alive. He even calls the middling one Ned, when he tells him if he must fight, then win.
@@nyodeler6647read their post again
He was essentially a second father to them.
why is this so upvoted? hes asking about ned and benjin, the two boys. not ned and the adult

RIP Hodor & Summer :(
On a bright note, I would love to see a sitcom where Tormund follows Brienne around trying to impress her and win her affection. They could call it "The Bear and the Maiden Fair"
As for Steven's question about Dothraki vs Unsullied, there is a story about 3,000 Unsullied defending a city against 25,000 Dothraki.
And some heroes have fur and paws.
Jk
Nah....

With the prequel series we might find out if the night king was a Stark. That can explain the resemblance.

Who knows who he might have told that story to, or how many other boys he might have performed this ritual on.
ianwestc Sure but only Varys would know what he heard in the flames,
The sorceror wouldn't know? I thought the voice in the flames was for the sorceror, not Varys. He was just a wounded bystander.
ianwestc To be fair, even if both heard the voice, it could've said different things to each of them.

Richard Brake played the Night King in season 5, but not in seasons 6. In seasons 6 and 7, the Night King is played by Vladimir Furdik.
Yes, it is.
A man has said. 👍
those are certainly all words
"The carrier of children, the crusher of walnuts, the holder of doors"
RIP Hodor 💔
This is no where near confirmed, so its not really spoilery, just wanted to point out that the 3-Eyed Raven intentionally led Bran into a somewhat mundane memory, that contained young Hodor, likely because he knew Bran needed to screw him up, in order to secure his survival 30 years later, since the Raven can see the future. And thus the possibility of time travel/paradoxes has opened up into this medieval fantasy zombie survival political thriller. George knows no bounds. No one is safe.
"And thus the possibility of time travel/paradoxes has opened up into this medieval fantasy zombie survival political thriller."
I love that sentence.
Game of thrones 5 6 7 is all the dreams of theon he is still being tortured in a cell by ramsay and its still season 4
I have my own theory about Bran, the 3 eyed raven and the night king... I really wonder how much of my theory will turn out to be true
Lol its Medicare drama
Out of all the deaths in GoT Hodor is the hardest not to cry to in my opinion. He was so innocent and peaceful. RIP Hodor
Some hero’s wear capes, others just hold the door.
This is literally the only reaction channel worth watching, your reactions are genuine and the videos are entertaining you both seem authentic and grounded, Looking forward to the next one keep em comin.
You never need to wear makeup because you are beautiful just the way you are, inside and out. I love your passion and empathy. You two are a wonderful team.
Hodor the one true innocent person in the show that never hurt anyone:(
This is for me, one of the saddest episodes in GOT.
Yea. Benioff and Weiss' minds were blown when they found out about the Hodor story. So crazy. GRRM is fng genius.
The god damn music while Hodor is holding the door
"Hold the door! Hold the door... Hodor... 😪😪😪 May you go into the light knowing you fulfilled your destiny, you sweet gentle giant 💔
Don't Trust Hannah is good, too, but she doesn't upload regularly.
i remember when i saw this episode it broke me :(
I cried my eyes out at the Hodor scene, that young lad did such a good job, man i was such a mess afterwards. Going to miss our big friendly giant
One interesting point about the drowning ritual - it's one of the things that make the Ironborn islanders such good pirates and sailors. They don't fear drowning because they've already drowned before. As such they tend to take risks that other sailors don't and they tend not to panic in naval combat.
I don't know if that would work in real life.
Wouldn't it make people more afraid of drowning?
The video is still processing and I already just wanna hug you both.
The fact she was able to leave Varys shook of all people...got a bad feeling about that lady
When we finally find out what the voice said, it will turn out to be the punch line to Tyrion's unfinished joke.
And you even haven't saw her without her necklace ^^.
And actually, he himself won the Robert rebellion.
"They make you want to love something, and then they just pull it away!"
Yup, that's this show in a nutshell.
GRRM is a genius.
i love that painting in the back with jon snow and ghost...its beautiful
Actually, in battle of Qohor were 12.000 Dothraki against 3.000 Unsullied. The Unsullied won!
And each Dothraki man cut off his braid and threw it down before the Unsullied.
Raoul Vi I find that extremely hard to believe when the unsullied have been dying left and right to enemies that aren’t even fighters. They have been a joke since they left Astaphor.
It doesn't matter what you believe, that's what happened. The show has made the unsullied look weak though.
I have seen the Hold the Door scene so many times and I still cant stop crying my eyes out, even if it is a short snippet.
Shit I did not even realize it was already at "The Door" this is such a good surprise!!! Love this season.
"it's in a vision, they can't touch him"
touches him
