    About Cersei not reacting to Tommen's death... remember the prophecy! Cersei doesn't feel upset about Tommen dying because she knew that once her two children died, the prophecy was already set in stone so Tommen was a goner no mater what she did.

    • @malykoth
      @malykoth 5 лет назад +126

      I wouldn't say she 'doesn't feel upset'...I'm sure she was devestated...but you are correct that she remembered the prophecy and expected it to happen. She accepted the inevitability of it.

    • @DreamOfTheRebel
      @DreamOfTheRebel 5 лет назад +69

      It's also the denial aspect of her grief. She refuses to deal with it and pushes it to the background. You can see it both here and next season when she dismisses talking about it.

    • @Prince_the_One
      @Prince_the_One 5 лет назад +22

      I don't believe Tommen would have died if Margaery didn't get killed. Cersei brought about his death.

    • @LeChaunce
      @LeChaunce 5 лет назад +25

      I think there's also the feeling of betrayal there -- there's the scene when Tommen declares that Trial By Combat would be outlawed, you can just see in Cersei's eyes that she's given up on him, considers him lost. Sure, she has the Mountain keep him there so he doesn't blow up with the Sept, but once he kills himself, Cersei's resigned to it and moves on.

    • @iloveyourunclebob
      @iloveyourunclebob 5 лет назад +7

      I'm sure she's going through a wide range of emotions and has no idea how to express it in a socially acceptable manner because most people don't when they are grieving and everyone grieves differently than the next person. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. For some people, letting something else (love, anger, humor) take over for their grief is a part of their grieving

    Nikki: "This is weighing on him dearly," regarding Tommen at the start. Nice work picking that out, the production designer (who won an Emmy for this episode) chose each article of clothing at the start as indicative of the person's current mental state. Watch the opening montage again and you'll see. Tommen's heavy metallic necklace and the metal crown weigh him down. The High Sparrow lightly shrugs on his best burlap sack. Cersei's outfit is martial, a general preparing for battle. Margaery's corset is being laced tightly, showing how constrained she is in her position. This whole episode is a beauty of work from a design and costume perspective.

      If you ignore the fact that none of it makes sense along with the plot holes, sure it looks good on screen. Tits and dragons > plot, I guess. Considering the fact that season 1-3/4 was purely driven and motivated by the plot, the very thing that made one attached to the show, this season and episode is one of the worst in the entire series.

    Tommen was a naive, gullible and not a good king, but he was still kind and innocent child who didn't deserve to die, no different than his sister(Myrcella). Cersei just killed her own son because of her actions at the Sept of Baelor.

    • @malykoth
      @malykoth 5 лет назад +47

      Though I don't think she expected him to die right then and there. Sure, she understood the prophecy and even accepted it would happen...some day... but she also sent the Mountain to keep Tommen from going to the Sept. She 'saved' him. I think his abrupt death blindsided her...perhaps she didn't think he had it in him to commit suicide over that 'bitch' (her opinion, not mine!).

      @@malykoth Yes, Cersei ordered the Mountain to keep Tommen from going to the Sept, but I don't think it was to save him. She wanted him to witness what she was going to do and Tommen knew that she had a direct hand in the destruction of the Sept of Baelor. The fact that his mother destroyed the Sept and killing everyone in it(including Margaery, his Uncle, and Cousin) was too much for him to bare and Tommen was a fragile individual anyway, so he killed himself. He couldn't live with the fact that his mother was a monster.

      I hated the "fallout" from this huge misstep.
      half the Lanisters should have rebelled after this (for Kevan), and Jamie especially (he is not fond of innocents being burned alive...).
      And Cersei should have been wrecked by the Tyrells and their bannermen, who did not loose nearly as much manpower in war as the Lanisters, not to mention they had much more before the wars started already (and they have better commanders, Jamie aside the Lanisters just lost all the good ones).
      And of course the People in King's Landing would have rioted, they hate Cersei, loved the sparrows and Margaery

      @@Terranova667 since it's all fiction and fictional characters, it gives you an opportunity to cheer people on that you normally wouldn't cheer on or empathize with people that you normally wouldn't empathize with. You can use your imagination instead of having to deal with the terrible realization of how horrible real life is. It's all fiction, just live a little. It gives you an opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of a villain or find flaws in a well loved character. It's a chance to look at something for more than just what is right or wrong. You can dissect the personality and reasoning behind a person's actions instead of it just being black and white. No one actually killed anyone. None of these people actually exist and no actors were harmed in the filming of this episode. I mean, they may have been harmed in the filming process, like a camera coming in too fast and not moving out of the way in time, but they weren't burned alive by Cersei and her team with Wildfire just to make this episode.

    Poor Margaery and Loras!! They may have been a little vain but they weren’t necessarily evil people at all. The sad part is that the only reason Margaery lost the game of thrones was because of her genuine love for her family. She sent her grandmother home for her own safety, because she knew that the High Sparrow would get to her sooner or later and all this season she was just trying to save her dear brother from prison. Even in their final moments Margaery showed she cared about Loras. Before the sept exploded, she did try to take her brother with her out of the church right? She could’ve just left him there to burn. Plus, even beforehand, she did lie to protect Loras’s secret from the High Sparrow remember? In the end, Margaery went through such great lengths to protect and save Loras and she really cared for her brother. That’s some sibling love right there.

      Margaery was a favorite of mine. She was manipulative, ambitious, cunning, etc. but she never had to be cruel to strengthen her and her family’s position. She wasn’t above letting others get small victories as well and she never betrayed anyone either. She never hurt Sansa or Tommen at all, never betrayed them or put them in harm’s way(in the show at least) 80-85% of me thinks that Margaery genuinely liked Sansa and Tommen and may have wanted them to be happy. I actually grew to somewhat trust her, so long as she gave win win solutions.

    Tomlin is such a tragic character. Him stepping out the window is probably the first decision he truly made, of his own free will.
    Cerci may not have seem upset about her last child being dead, but I think it’s cus she’s not surprised. Remember the Fortune teller in the flash back? She told her her three child will die. After Joff and her daughter, she knew it was a matter of time for Tomlin.

    I liked Margaery as a character very much. Her and Olenna became two of my favorite characters in this whole series because of them being great game players. Margaery played the game so good and was very intelligent and cunning in all of moves she made. She wanted only 1 thing: To become the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and rule alongside whoever was the king and be the one true ruler from behind the scenes by influencing her husband into making decisions. She also wanted to strengthen her family and house’s positions as well. But despite her being manipulative I don’t think she ever had bad intentions as a ruler at all because none of her schemes ever resulted in anyone getting hurt. She gave people win win solutions where they would get something they wanted and be safe from the results and not just herself and her family. And she never betrayed those people either or got them killed, unlike with what Cersei did. She wasn’t destructive or cruel to anyone and fought off evilness with kindness and politeness and I really liked that about her. She may not have cared for the smallfolk but she did show herself to still take care of them and kept them clothed and fed for publicity. If her schemes resulted in the poor being fed and Westeros being a better place as queen, I would’ve been totally down with her being queen, even if that kindness was fake. Most of her schemes and manipulations resulted with good results, win wins, and never got anyone killed and because of that, I believe she had good intentions for Westeros and would’ve made a great queen.
    And not just that, but despite Margaery being very manipulative, she did show herself to genuinely have a kind heart, compassion, empathy, and care for certain people. I don’t think she was completely heartless like Cersei was.
    For example it’s quite clear she loved her family very deeply. She loved her brother, Loras and was extremely tolerant of his homosexuality. She even lied to protect her brother and that caused her to get imprisoned remember? She did everything she could think of to get him out of prison and even in her final moments she was trying to get him out of the sept of Baelor with her before it exploded remember? In the end she really cared for her brother. She also has a strong bond with her grandmother, Olenna and in the end, she kinda saved her life because if she hadn’t have told Olenna to go home, than she would’ve appeared at the trial and would’ve gotten blown up as well along with the other Tyrells. And Margaery also loved her father, Mace as well but that could’ve been a little less love. In the end you can’t deny Margaery loved all of her family members and did everything she could to keep them safe. I think all she was doing in season 6 was trying to protect them from the High Sparrow.
    And as for Margaery and the three kings she married, it’s clear she loved none of them and were just ways for her to be queen, but I believe she had a genuine feeling for each of them.
    Renly Baratheon: When she wed him, do remember she gave him and Loras no hate in having a relationship behind her back. She knew perfectly well what Renly was like and was very accepting and understanding of his reluctance to sleep with her. She even told him to do whatever he wanted with Loras so long as he gets her pregnant. In the end I think she was genuinely fond of the man because she did seem to like his tourneys he hosted right?
    Joffrey Baratheon: It’s clear that Margaery hated Joffrey very much because you could tell that she looked disgusted at his behavior at their wedding feast. But she had to tolerate his evil ways in order to control him. But she wasn’t just trying to get on his good side. She actually was trying to get Joffrey to make better choices as the king because she got him popular with the people of King’s Landing and taught him to actually be loved and not feared remember? Even in their wedding she got him to decree to make all the leftovers be given to the poorest of King’s Landing. Maybe all manipulative but that was something Joffrey should have done in the beginning because in order to be a good ruler you have to take care of your subjects instead of trying to be feared and kill them right? And the little queen was trying to get Joffrey to do that. I don’t think Margaery liked Joffrey at all but I saw that she was a very good influence for him in the end. And that shows that Margaery actually had good intentions as queen as well right?
    Tommen Baratheon: I think Margaery had the most affection for him. I don’t think she loved him like he did but it was clear that she genuinely liked him. Because despite Tommen being naive he still did have a sweet, kind hearted, caring personality and since he was a very sweet boy, she probably grew to like him because of that throughout their marriage. Plus if Margaery could love her father who was very foolish and naive than she probably could grow to care for her husband as well because Tommen was also very naive and foolish just like her dad and she loved him. In other words Tommen probably reminded her of her dad and grew to have affection for him because of that. Not just that but she also gave Tommen win win solutions in her schemes whenever she manipulated him and kept him happy and safe from the results and not just herself and her family. And she never did betray Tommen even during the sparrow fiasco or put him in danger in her schemes either did she? In the end, although she feigned an attraction to Renly and Joffrey, I believe she genuinely cared for Tommen in the end and may have loved him as a little brother in their marriage. At least 60% of me think she did anyway.
    As for her relationship with Sansa Stark, despite her having an ulterior motive with her, she never put Sansa in danger in any of her schemes and never hurt her did they? When she and Olenna plotted to marry Sansa to Loras, yes they knew that if the marriage happened than they would have some control over the North, but they also knew that if Sansa had married Loras, than she would’ve been happier and safer in Highgarden than in King’s Landing and that she would’ve been with a kind, decent husband in Loras. Remember despite him being into men Loras is very kind and chivalrous when he doesn’t need to and I don’t think he had any intentions on mistreating or abusing Sansa if they had wed. At best they could’ve become good friends if they married and they would probably have a good relationship together. Overall Sansa would’ve been safe and happy with the result of marrying Loras and not just the Tyrells and Margaery knew that as well. Plus, Margaery was still choosing to spend time with Sansa even after that plan failed and consoled her on her forced marriage to Tyrion. That shows that Margaery actually cared about Sansa because if she really didn’t care, than she would’ve abandoned the girl after she found out that Sansa has to marry a Lannister now because there is no longer any benefit in befriending Sansa now that she is to be a Lannister soon. But Margaery never abandoned Sansa though, has she? Plus, at the Purple Wedding, she did try to get Joffrey away from Sansa and Tyrion right? I think one of the reasons she did that was so she could keep her control over Joffrey but I also think another reason was because she felt genuinely bad for Sansa and Tyrion and wanted to keep the peace at her and Joffrey’s wedding. Because of all that, I believe Margaery genuinely cared for Sansa to an extent and really was her friend in the end. Especially since she never betrayed her or put her in danger. And when she said “We would be sisters you and I”, I believe she would’ve actually grown to genuinely love Sansa as a surrogate sister down the road if she had married Loras as planned don’t you think?
    In the end Margaery was manipulative yes, but she also showed herself to be genuinely gentle and kind to certain people. She truly loved her family most of all and put them first before anything, but I think she was also was truly fond of Renly, genuinely sympathized and cared for Sansa on some level, and actually cared for Tommen as either just a friend or as a little brother. But the love she may have had for Tommen wasn’t as strong as the love she had for her true brother, Loras.

    i also think when ramsay said: "you can't kill me. i am a part of you now" ramsay wasn't referring to sansa maybe being pregnant - how would he know? - but was talking about the pain he inflected on her soul and her body.. so even half dead he was being an asshole.. "see you might have beat me, but what i did to you will stay with you..." and sansa replied everything he ever was will disappear , his words, his house, his name and even every memory of him... At this point, many reactors still think Rhaegar kidnapped and raped her, or even consider other possible fathers to Jon. There are still beans to be spilled in season 7, so no, at this point it's not time. The problem is not the scenes themselves, as they would see them anyway if re-watching the show, it's that they're back to back and, depending on which exact video you have in mind, probably arranged strategically to spell it all out perfectly, and also the simple fact that the video exists and has been suggested to them shows that there is truth or at least importance to it. Nikki and Steven have said time and time again that they don't want us to give them expectations about anything in the show's future, which such a video definitely does. They want to go in blind about what's gonna happen. Of course they have their own thoughts and predictions, but other people's predictions are spoilers because being made aware of a possible outcome spoils the surprise if it happens.

    As much as I love to hate Cersei, I almost feel victorious on her behalf.
    Originally, they wanted something else beside the piano music, but I can't even imagine anything else fitting so perfectly with the scene.
    "What? Today?" Oh honey
    Knowledge of suicide and mental health issues is definitely not the same back then as it is now. Suicide is still often looked as as a betrayal. I can only imagine how much it was looked as as a betrayal back then. I feel so bad for people with mental health issues.

      Which is stupid and selfish of her to think. She thought she was above the law and that her position would grant her immunity from being found guilty of murder and treason. He didn't make her do all that shit.

    "Did she blow up all of King's Landing", he asked while all of King's Landing was visible onscreen through Cersei's window.
    I found that really funny. No worries fam, it was just one church and all of its surrounding area. She killed hundreds but not millions.

    • @monasamuel3673
      @monasamuel3673 5 лет назад +2

      She didn't have to do that. She's smart, she could have figured out something else. But she saw that as a way to take out the Tyrells and the Sparrows at the same time. And also become queen. She's evil. After her attonement, she vowed to get revenge, no matter the cost.

    • @iloveyourunclebob
      @iloveyourunclebob 5 лет назад

      @@monasamuel3673 I highly doubt she knew Tommen would kill himself and she'd become queen. He would eventually remarry, but she could choose someone she can sink her claws into as much as she would sink her claws into Tommen. ...unless that's basically what you meant by "queen". In that case, I'm just elaborating what you meant by queen for the next person lol
      I love to hate Cersei, but she's actually not that smart. Okay, it's not that she's not smart, it's that she sometimes allows her ego to cloud her judgement. The show doesn't elaborate on why she should have realized that the sparrows would turn on her immediately once they gained power because they didn't really have time. I know we aren't talking about the books, but it is so obvious that she's about to get locked up and imprisoned and she just cannot see it for the life of her. The show kind of does it too. Just a basic understanding of fanatical religious organizations throughout history tells you exactly what's going to come.

      Mona Samuel i domt agree she could have found another way. If she goes to trial shes dead or locked up. Had to take all her enemies out, yes. Kill innocents yes but she doesnt care. Her way out was taken away so she acted quickly.

      She betrayed him and everybody else every time she attempted to take any action whatsoever. She's responsible for the Faith militant existing. She was jealous that Tommen was getting married and wasn't 100% reliant on her controlling ass. She caused most of her own problems. She sucks and I feel 0 sympathy for her.

    • @monasamuel3673
      @monasamuel3673 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah she didn't know he would kill himself but she knew he would hurt him deeply at least. As much as people said Cersei loves her children, I think she just lost it and she only cared for herself after the attonement. When she was shown his body she didnt even show half as mush emotion she showed when seh saw Jofferey die or heard Marcella was killed.
      I don't know the timeline from when Tommen outlawed trial by combat and when her trail was but she was powerful enough to lock them all up in a room and blow them up with just a portion of the wildfire but she saw that as an opportunity. Sure, she sometimes lets her ego get in the way (hint: The Sparrows) but she sefinitely saw this coming. Everyone who had a claim to the throne was in the Sept and she blew it up. She could have got a new wife for Tommen, if he had lived, but he didn't and she took the opportunity and became queen. Cercei always has a motive behind everything. I hate her character so much. That's probably why I'm ranting :)
