  • They have survived rape and the slaughter of their families. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya girls and women fled Myanmar to escape a military crackdown.
In Bangladesh's refugee camps they thought they would be safe. But inside the tents that house almost a million Rohingya refugees, women and girls are being bought, sold and given away.
Girls are being forced into marriage because relatives can't afford to feed them, or are being lured to brothels with the promise of good jobs. We investigate the dangers still facing Rohingya women, and meet the people seeking to exploit them.

If you really wanna blame someone, blame Myanmar government who destroyed their houses and made them Refugees to another country. Same what the israelis did with the palestinians.
Title of this video gives reply to all your questions. In rich countries daughters can earn bread for the parents because they can go out and they feel safe. In poor countries girls are not safe even in their own house, here you are are talking about refugees from another country.
If you really care for them then tell your government or foreign Ministers who always talks about bombing muslim countries for stooping oil tunkers and same time they visit dictators for negotiations.

Let's not judge them they saw their daughters and wives raped and killed in Myanmar. They have big families, living under the poverty line as refugees are not easy. They are living in a country where they are not welcomed. If you are pushed to the wall under hunger, dangers and your daughters might get rapped getting older, what else choice they have? The basic need for protection, shelter, and food takes precedence over women rights.

Ever heard of the name SAFIYA, one of the wives of Muhammad? She lost her everything in Banu Qurayza massacre which is done by Muhammad & co.
She was taken by Muhammad as war-prisoner slave, later Muhammad married her. So, do you think, getting married with the murderer of your family can be a genuine CONSENSUAL thing??
Or do you think, Aisha has the sense of opinion regarding her marriage with Muhammad in the age of only SIX??
What is Shari'ah? Qur'an and the life of Muhammad.. isn’t it?
So, here, the true definition of SUNNAH is- to take the illegal advantage of your power in every possible way and to justify this using the name of GOD.

Even if they are starving as the dad said in the video it is not acceptable. It is the girls right to choose when and whom to marry. And about the sentences in quran where it says man can beat the women and marry up to 4 women, you need to make sure you research about those ayahs(a small section of the quran, a sentence basically) properly, because those ayahs are talking about spesipic stiuations that happen once in a millon. Its like a guide when you are stuck in a stiuation that makes you fill with anger that you feel like you will be able to kill somebody. You can look for it on youtube nouman ali khan explains it nicely but i am not an expert so i dont want to give false information.
And about the multiple wife ayah, it is adviced strongly to marry a single woman because it would be really hard for the husband to make justice for all his wives and that is what many people do in most of the islamic countries. But it is true that men are alloved to mary up to 4 women if they respect everyones rights and make sure there is justice among them. But its a huge responsibility for the man, its not like a wonderland where he can relax and be with whichever wife he wants to be, and beat whoever he wants to. So, before making statements that are making islam seem like something it isnt i would suggest you to research further and compare your findings to the western culture that you are admiring to because islam, if liven truely is something really beautiful and so much better than western culture that we are forced to accept. Hopefully you read this till the end cause it wasnt easy to right this long. :) Have a nice day.

      Amin
      Forced Marriages
      Imam Ibn Taymiyyah
      Fatwa from "Al-Masa'il ul-Mardiniyyah"
Translated by Abu `Abdullah Muhammad al-Jibali
May a father force his virgin daughter who attained puberty to marry?
That he may not. This is also the word of Abu Hanifah.
People have differed as tot he reason permitting the compulsion: whether it is virginity, the daughter being under-aged, or a combination of both. The closest opinion to the truth is her being under-aged, whereas no one can compel a grown-up virgin in marriage. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A non-virgin woman may not be married without her command, and a virgin may not be married without her permission; and enough permission for her is to remain silent (because of her natural shyness)." [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others]
Thus the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), prohibits forcing a virgin in marriage without her permission, whether it be her father or someone else. Furthermore, Ayshah said that she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "In the case of a young girl whose parents marry her, should her permission be sought or not?" He replied, "Yes, she must give her permission." She then said, "But a virgin will be shy, O Allah's Messenger." He answered:
"Her silence is [considered as] her permission." [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others]
This applies to the father as well as others. Furthermore, Islam does not give the father the right to use any of her wealth without her permission, how then could he be allowed to decide, without her permission, how her body (which is more important than her wealth) is to be used, specially when she disagrees to that and is mature to decide for herself?
Also, there is evidence and consensus in Islam to restrict an underage person's free control of his wealth or person. However, to make a virginity a reason for the restriction contradicts the Islamic basis.
As for the difference between the non-virgin and virgin in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), it is not a differentiation between compulsion and non-compulsion; the difference between the two cases is that (a) the former gives her instructions for the marriage whereas the latter gives permission, and that (b) the virgin's silence counts as a permission. The reason for this is that a virgin would be shy to discuss the matter of marriage, so she is not proposed to directly; rather, her walee (guardian) is approached, he takes her permission, and then she gives him the permission not the command to marry her.
And as for a non-virgin, she would not have the shyness of virginity anymore; thus she can discuss the matter of her marriage, she can be proposed to, and she gives the command to her wali to perform the marriage, and he must obey her.
Thus the wali is command-executor in the case of the non-virgin, and is permission-seeker in the case of the virgin. This is what the Prophet's words indicate. As for compelling her to marry despite her loathing to do so, this would contradict the fundamentals and reason. Allah did not permit a wali to force her to sell or rent her property without her permission. Neither did He permit him to force her to eat or drink or wear that which she does not wish. How would He then oblige her to accompany and copulate with a person whose company she hates - at the time when Allah has sent between the two spouses love and mercy? If such company happens despite her hatred and repulsion, where is the love and mercy?
Forced marriage is forbidden in Islam.
*O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.* [Sura Nisa: 19]

This is such a tragic piece on so many levels. As a Muslim, it's devastating to see people treating women and girls with such little respect and honor. I'm sure some of you think that's ironic, but know that that the way women are being treated here is not representative of what Islam teaches. This is pure culture...their external appearance looks "Islamic" while internally, what they are doing is typical of that region regardless of religion.
It's also disheartening to see that the father is making such a momentous decision for his daughter without any regard for her well being. He rationalizes that it is to alleviate the family's poor circumstances and to "protect" her from other men at the camp...but at no point does he seem to express legitimate concern for his daughter.
May Allah provide justice for those who are wronged.

I am so lucky to have been born in a family where a child is a child, where duties aren't allocated to gender and where all children get the same privilege to go to school.

I have no words. I don’t know. I’m also struggling here in my country (financially) but no where near the suffering of these girls. God pls comeback soon. Your daughters are abused/raped/murdered.

Thank you so much Al Jazeera. Probably the best mainstream media outlet that covers super interesting and rarely looked into topics. Much appreciated.
