- They have survived rape and the slaughter of their families. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya girls and women fled Myanmar to escape a military crackdown.
In Bangladesh's refugee camps they thought they would be safe. But inside the tents that house almost a million Rohingya refugees, women and girls are being bought, sold and given away.
Girls are being forced into marriage because relatives can't afford to feed them, or are being lured to brothels with the promise of good jobs. We investigate the dangers still facing Rohingya women, and meet the people seeking to exploit them.

"There's no benefit in keeping girls" my heart hurts 😢😢😢
I know, sometimes i feel like I’m not lucky but when i see these kind of videos I realize that I’m lucky I’m not in a situation like this. I feel sad for her.
These men are hypocrites! First they claim there is no sense in keeping girls but then they say they need someone to take care of them! Women do SO MUCH for the family unit including taking care of elders, raising the children, cooking, cleaning and keeping order in the house yet these men claim that they’re just useless baggage, how wrong they are! 😠
Any comments for the country Myanmar that killed raped n cleansed them
@@Coelacantha
If you really wanna blame someone, blame Myanmar government who destroyed their houses and made them Refugees to another country. Same what the israelis did with the palestinians.
Title of this video gives reply to all your questions. In rich countries daughters can earn bread for the parents because they can go out and they feel safe. In poor countries girls are not safe even in their own house, here you are are talking about refugees from another country.
If you really care for them then tell your government or foreign Ministers who always talks about bombing muslim countries for stooping oil tunkers and same time they visit dictators for negotiations.
To do something for ROHINGYAS, PALESTINIANS,
KASHMIR’S,
UGHYUR'S,
Let's not judge them they saw their daughters and wives raped and killed in Myanmar. They have big families, living under the poverty line as refugees are not easy. They are living in a country where they are not welcomed. If you are pushed to the wall under hunger, dangers and your daughters might get rapped getting older, what else choice they have? The basic need for protection, shelter, and food takes precedence over women rights.
When the father in law said we have no one to take care of us - did anyone else think what about your young healthy son - perfect person to look after his own parents. 🤔
what's the point when they can just get someone else's young daughter to do it, this is just horrible how these father's are setting their own daughters up for failure.
It is just too sad
It's consider as shame in some culture to make their son manage the house. Man are supposed to earn for the family and women on the other takes charges of the dusting and cleaning of the house and many more.
Anjali when they said take care means do housework not earn money for them
right! they give away daughters who would happily work at home and take care of their own parents and then complain no one is around to take care of them and buy a daughter in law?!! definition of insanity

This Father is misinterpreting Shari'ah .
No marriage is permitted without the permission of
Bride in Shari'ah
It's all there in your holy books dude..
True he is a coward,dayus.
Ever heard of the name SAFIYA, one of the wives of Muhammad? She lost her everything in Banu Qurayza massacre which is done by Muhammad & co.
She was taken by Muhammad as war-prisoner slave, later Muhammad married her. So, do you think, getting married with the murderer of your family can be a genuine CONSENSUAL thing??
Or do you think, Aisha has the sense of opinion regarding her marriage with Muhammad in the age of only SIX??
What is Shari'ah? Qur'an and the life of Muhammad.. isn’t it?
So, here, the true definition of SUNNAH is- to take the illegal advantage of your power in every possible way and to justify this using the name of GOD.
Do not put your moderated-humanitarian view here in the name of Shari'ah. Do not SUGARCOAT this barbaric medieval 'way of life'.
@@tariqulislam2687 It was genuinely consensual, and also Muhammad did not marry Aisha at 9 years old according to the context of the hadiths.
@@tariqulislam2687 Also, even if Muhammad married Aisha at 9, it was not a sexual relationship, it was for building relationships with other families. Muhammad only had 5 children from Khadijah, and one child from another woman. So don't sugarcoat the facts with lies

"We're afraid of our brothers and fathers." - That says it all, what kind of men they are.
lts the rotten culture. Are the women kidnapping & trading the girls their brothers and fathers?
A. Xander nope..she said they are afraid of their fathers and brothers because of male domination..in most of Asian countries girls /women do not have any right to take decision for themselves..they have to follow their elders
So you'd deny that this forced marriage happens in the middle east as well?
Channy Walker according to their culture, afraid means respect. It's a family code that sons remain obedient to their parents. As a matter of fact, also think, what else her parents can do for her while she's not safe at their hand?
This is typical Asian family where children fears their parents and elders. Whether a boy or girl, they can't disagree with their parents and elder brothers decision.
The father says he’s scared of the boys who may take her away and that would be “shameful for me.” Ahh so it’s about YOU and YOUR reputation.

Why do you think it is "unbelievable"? What will it take to convince you that muslim cultures do not consider women and girls as fully human? Their koran tells them that a woman has half the value of a man, and that her husband has the right to beat her and divorce her at will. He can have three other wives besides, and he is the owner of her children. Their ideology states that women are property to be used, abused and disposed of at will.
@@theinkbrain so does the bible, and in poorer countries like the Catholic Philippines, you can see how the same views of women are in play. All religion was created at a time when women were not thought of as mentally or physically capable. 🙍🏽
@@theinkbrain No, no, no and no. This is not correct information on islam. People in this video are not doing the right thing according to islam (and it is the followers fault not the religions), the person that is marrying has to want it and nobody (including the girl's brothers and father) can force her to marry somebody she doesnt want to. Even if they are starving as the dad said in the video it is not acceptable. It is the girls right to choose when and whom to marry. And about the sentences in quran where it says man can beat the women and marry up to 4 women, you need to make sure you research about those ayahs(a small section of the quran, a sentence basically) properly, because those ayahs are talking about spesipic stiuations that happen once in a millon. Its like a guide when you are stuck in a stiuation that makes you fill with anger that you feel like you will be able to kill somebody. You can look for it on youtube nouman ali khan explains it nicely but i am not an expert so i dont want to give false information.
And about the multiple wife ayah, it is adviced strongly to marry a single woman because it would be really hard for the husband to make justice for all his wives and that is what many people do in most of the islamic countries. But it is true that men are alloved to mary up to 4 women if they respect everyones rights and make sure there is justice among them. But its a huge responsibility for the man, its not like a wonderland where he can relax and be with whichever wife he wants to be, and beat whoever he wants to. So, before making statements that are making islam seem like something it isnt i would suggest you to research further and compare your findings to the western culture that you are admiring to because islam, if liven truely is something really beautiful and so much better than western culture that we are forced to accept. Hopefully you read this till the end cause it wasnt easy to right this long. :) Have a nice day.

One question to you people's have you did something to safe this girl or even have you ever donate one single penny for this refugees but you commenting like a boss here and blaming his dad shame on you and your thinking.
Mentality towards women is a disgrace they get no say in who they want to marry its decided for them whether they want to go through with it or not that poor girl 😢

Not women you should feel sad. It's for the girls and children

If this father didn't get terrorized and kicked out of his own village, he wouldn't have taken this decision, I don't agree with him as in Islam woman should agree to the marriyand not be forced to one, But I get his concerns, he thinks it's a better life at least she'll have a solid roof on top of her rather than living in the camps why she could get kidnapped anytime to be forced to work in Adultery or even worse

Forced Marriages
Imam Ibn Taymiyyah
Fatwa from "Al-Masa'il ul-Mardiniyyah"
Translated by Abu `Abdullah Muhammad al-Jibali
May a father force his virgin daughter who attained puberty to marry?
That he may not. This is also the word of Abu Hanifah.
People have differed as tot he reason permitting the compulsion: whether it is virginity, the daughter being under-aged, or a combination of both. The closest opinion to the truth is her being under-aged, whereas no one can compel a grown-up virgin in marriage. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A non-virgin woman may not be married without her command, and a virgin may not be married without her permission; and enough permission for her is to remain silent (because of her natural shyness)." [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others]
Thus the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), prohibits forcing a virgin in marriage without her permission, whether it be her father or someone else. Furthermore, Ayshah said that she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "In the case of a young girl whose parents marry her, should her permission be sought or not?" He replied, "Yes, she must give her permission." She then said, "But a virgin will be shy, O Allah's Messenger." He answered:
"Her silence is [considered as] her permission." [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others]
This applies to the father as well as others. Furthermore, Islam does not give the father the right to use any of her wealth without her permission, how then could he be allowed to decide, without her permission, how her body (which is more important than her wealth) is to be used, specially when she disagrees to that and is mature to decide for herself?
Also, there is evidence and consensus in Islam to restrict an underage person's free control of his wealth or person. However, to make a virginity a reason for the restriction contradicts the Islamic basis.
As for the difference between the non-virgin and virgin in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), it is not a differentiation between compulsion and non-compulsion; the difference between the two cases is that (a) the former gives her instructions for the marriage whereas the latter gives permission, and that (b) the virgin's silence counts as a permission. The reason for this is that a virgin would be shy to discuss the matter of marriage, so she is not proposed to directly; rather, her walee (guardian) is approached, he takes her permission, and then she gives him the permission not the command to marry her.
And as for a non-virgin, she would not have the shyness of virginity anymore; thus she can discuss the matter of her marriage, she can be proposed to, and she gives the command to her wali to perform the marriage, and he must obey her.
Thus the wali is command-executor in the case of the non-virgin, and is permission-seeker in the case of the virgin. This is what the Prophet's words indicate. As for compelling her to marry despite her loathing to do so, this would contradict the fundamentals and reason. Allah did not permit a wali to force her to sell or rent her property without her permission. Neither did He permit him to force her to eat or drink or wear that which she does not wish. How would He then oblige her to accompany and copulate with a person whose company she hates - at the time when Allah has sent between the two spouses love and mercy? If such company happens despite her hatred and repulsion, where is the love and mercy?
Forced marriage is forbidden in Islam.
*O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.* [Sura Nisa: 19]
May Allah inshallah grant the girls and children - Janna ul Firdaus.
Men have no hearts. All they care about is themselves, their own needs and desires. Such incredible misery it causes to innocent girls. A full time housekeeper for her much older husband and his parents, who she CLEARLY didn't want to marry? This is outrageous.
Ohh my god just burst in tears to see how helpless people are...how lucky i am.

I wish I could help her and the girls and children be free. No one should be a slave. I would bring them to my new apartment in Xinjiang where they would receive high quality education, be granted the means to stand on their feet. I am grateful to live there, despite the fact I'm a British Muslim.

No one is talking about the great man who is marrying without even seeing the girl. No refugees ever have a normal life.
It is never about the Girl always about having a slave and honour
Third world mentality. This is why we Indians were enslaved.
Well about the thord world mentality. Im from an americam third world country and we are far from whats happenig in those countries. Is not a third world mentalith but something that belongs to arabian or islam countries.

They said marry who you want as long as they respect you and treat you well, but not right now , finish your education and get a job, do everything you need. I plan on being a forensic science technician, and i am happy that i am supported. This makes me sad, this is the result of ignorance and no money.

Coz your family is not escaped from Myanmar, you still have your business, property, home, family, each and everything.
Whats wrong in marrying if your family chooses someone for you? Are you trying to say they will choose the wrong person for you? They wont want things to go well for you? Listen. Theres a difference between consensual agreement in marriage and a forced one...We were brought up in a Western country but still preferred to marry whom our parents agreed upon. Theres no shame in receiving the blessings of parents and family. You sound very much like a wanna be imaginative western brat, who is very stubborn and arrogant. Get better education.
I am so lucky to have been born in a family where a child is a child, where duties aren't allocated to gender and where all children get the same privilege to go to school.

I feel really depressed right now after watching Fatima been sent off /married at the young age of 15, I seriously cannot stop myself from crying along with her... like why would you want many children when you find them burdensome? at the least one can do as a parent, for not sending a child to school and providing them with the basic happiness of a child is to let them grow and get married to someone they love at least.. i cannot imagine marrying someone whom i've never met or seen in life.. my heart really hurts for her and other young girls like her.

Arranged marriage is something i can never understand...the girl is just a kid! shame on the parents who allowed it to happen.
That's a forced marriage. In an arranged marriage both the girl and boy still have a choice
Epi King my grandparents were arranged married and loved each other more than I ever knew was humanly possible. They both had a choice to say no to each other. In fact, the more older I grow the more I realize that who could possibly know more about me than my own parents and I could never marry someone my parents didn’t see fit for me

"1 less mouth to feed," but you're more than happy to keep a son in the house...
Hi mam
Abrar Ahmed bruh.. stfu
This is such a tragic piece on so many levels. As a Muslim, it's devastating to see people treating women and girls with such little respect and honor. I'm sure some of you think that's ironic, but know that that the way women are being treated here is not representative of what Islam teaches. This is pure culture...their external appearance looks "Islamic" while internally, what they are doing is typical of that region regardless of religion.
It's also disheartening to see that the father is making such a momentous decision for his daughter without any regard for her well being. He rationalizes that it is to alleviate the family's poor circumstances and to "protect" her from other men at the camp...but at no point does he seem to express legitimate concern for his daughter.
May Allah provide justice for those who are wronged.
Her father is dumb

Marriage is not the solution to poverty
Rose Mendiola - you’re right, but many south Asian communities do this. They give away their daughters to practically anyone who can ‘look after’ them. It’s disgusting, when families are going through hardship, it’s important to stick together, not force marriage daughters away. I hope these woman find the right person one day
Rose mendiola they don't have a choice are u stupidP
Get Shurikened - I think Rose is referring to the parents marrying off their kids. this vid. made it more than obvious Fatima didn't want to marry to escape poverty, but she was forced to, just like all the other young girls, and the father said it was one less mouth to feed and one less person to clothe. so 1reason theyre married off so young is for the girls family not to be in so much poverty,as the father said,1 less mouth to feed.
Till now I was thinking that I am unprievelag but after seeing this i think i should be thankful for what allah gave me .I will try to help them inshallah.
a horrible horrible situation... I hope the international court of justice sees this and establishes the fact that Myanmar's Military is culprit of Rohingya's genocide and the perpetrators(people who are ordering this) are put behind the bar with due respect to the rule of law.
This is powerful. This kind of stuff needs more global attention. Those people have gone through so much, you can especially see it in the eyes in the stills at the end. You can see the loss, the suffering, the sadness, the fear, the determination and the strength in their souls through their eyes. Its amazing and tragic at the same time. They're so resilient.
