I remember about 40 years ago, I was doing what you are doing on your homestead on my homestead. Along with horses and cows. We are still here just slower than then. Lovely video.
The new trees and flower bushes will be awesome next Spring. Never in my life have I ever seen hay harvested that way, well done Ladies well done!!🌳🪻⚘️
I live in Canada and years ago, about 40 to be exact ,my Mom and I got a Copper Beech about the height of yours...not knowing much about them, we planted it about 3 feet from our property line, we live in a town...well little did we know it's one of the biggest trees..it grew and grew and towers over most other trees in our town..luckily we found out we owned about 4 more feet on our property line..we have another Copper Beech in town, that's has been designated by our town as a Heritage Tree..and it's massive and over 100 years old..I keep the lower limbs ,even though people tell me I should remove them ,but they are unique and sweep the ground. The tree puts out so many nuts but most are empty..but spikey like very hard chestnuts and hard on my mower..so plant your tree where it won't matter and you won't have to rake the nuts under it for mulch..it's so beautiful and I realize it will outlive me for sure.
What a beautiful life your family has! I can't think of anything more peaceful than to live out someplace like that how I longed for that type of life.
Beautiful video! When you unwrapped the moss balls, my first though was they looked like Tribbles, from that original series Star Trek episode. Good work with the haying. Is this for poultry bedding for winter? I live in a city, and in fall we gather full brown paper lawn and leaf bags from where people put them out for yard debris pick up, they make a nice bedding for winter for my chickens and ducks.
Wow that flower 🌸 pot is absolutely beautiful l love it & the trees are gorgeous too l can imagine how stunning they are all to look , l not long planted a blueberry plant 🪴 but unfortunately l think it has died it didn’t look too good in Morrisons so l brought it home & thought I’d give. It a lease of live but l was too late , ile have to get another hopefully with berry’s on!! Love your little farm it’s idyllic ❤❤
@sticklebacksummer I'm afraid to ask! LOL I had at first written rear ends and thought that was maybe too crude. Guess I should have left it at rear ends?
How wonderful to live in the country!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I actually spent 4 hours yesterday in the country and got to see them making hay! Watching the Milking cows and goats grazing!!! It was awesome! I envy you!!! 💖💖💖💖
The one thing I miss the most is the harvest moon, we don’t get it very often in the Southern hemisphere. When doing hanging pots thee best trick I learnt was to add a small disposable babies nappy at the bottom, it acts as a water reserve for the plants, I find it better than using water crystals mixed into the potting mix. The gardens are going to look stunning come next spring.
As with all things, you only get out what you put in, and my word you put your heart and soul into your tasks. The outcome will be so colourful next year, and more enjoyable to you and us knowing all the hard work that you two put into it.
The positive thing about raking is it's mostly cool/ colder there. I'm in Florida and have to wait for Fall and winter for the heavy serious outdoor work. My place is covered with oak trees and shedding shrubs so if anyone likes to rake you are welcome anytime. I have extra rakes and will include a delicious chicken and broccoli casserole lunch😊
I was right: I enjoy watching y'all doing anything, from dunking moss balls (which is hard to say, I kept thinking moth balls), to making giant rush balls. When you started laying out the nets, I was really puzzled; it looked a bit like you were going to make a hammock. What a lot of rushes! Your garden is going to look amazing. 😍 Greetings from Texas!
Your Rhododendron will go through alternate years of blooming spectacularly, then the next not so much. These alternate years they put out actual bush growth. Don't be surprised or think something is wrong with it if it doesn't bloom much next year, the year after it will be popping again...
I hate to say it guys, but I think I love this channel more than your mudlarking channel!! I absolutely love the medieval music and sounds of nature and watching you two putz around. It's so relaxing, yet interesting at the same time. I'm can't get out like I used to so I enjoy living vicariously through you two. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. I can't wait to see things progress. Even when you don't think we might be interested in something, think again! This channel (just like your other two) are so popular because of YOU.😊❤
I loved the big blousy pink Rhododendron , and sunlight through a copper beech is the best . Planting trees is such a selfless thing to do , such a gift for future generations 🙏
I long every week to watch your lost Tower diaries channel. I love watching you guys make improvements it just fills my soul with happiness thank you Tonia
HI GAIL AND ALEX!! I LIKE ALL THE FLOWERS AND PLANTS. YOUR HOMESTEAD IS GETTING MORE BEAUTIFUL. WELL KEEP STRIVING AND THRIVING. LOL HAVE FUN, HOPE THE SHREWS FOLLOW AROUND SO THEY CAN TELL US OF THEIR TALES. THANKS AGAIN AND STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY ❤️ 🙏
I had never seen or heard of the mossy spheres before, but I like them. They are rustic and quirky at the same time, and the golden, full moon was glorious Alex! Well done again you two! 🌻
So relaxing. I love both of yours soft , gentle, caring voices and way of speaking. I could work all day along side you and it would be like walking through a field of flowers . Well that's what comes to mind watching this . . An almost forgotten gently kinder age before shouting and swearing became the norm. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS ❤
I absolutely adore you and your mom and the bond you share being creative together , enjoying life together through nature art and music... very peaceful and sweet. Do you grow a vegetable garden ?( you would be awesome at growing a garden ), ...I love your music choices ! Yay, harvest moon. What animals do you own ?, I love your Peacocks Shwoos.
Another awesome video. You two are such classy women and such a pleasure to watch. I got to relax and garden and I didn’t even have to put on my garden ding gloves. Donna Michigan
Lovely vid Gail & Alex. I love the Rhodedendron you bought. Always liked these Been patiently waiting for the next vid . Thank you for sharing. How I love this sort of lifestyle.
I wonder....do you ladies discuss what tasks you're going to endeavor each day while taking you morning tea?? You are two very hard working individuals.
You have such a lovley, clear complexion, Alex! You should do a skincare routine vid. Im curious how you keep your skin so lovely despite working so hard out in the elements.
Hello ladies. Your home is beautiful. The additions and clean-up r amazing. Gale and Alex, you r working so hard, and it looks great. Thank you for bringing us along.🩷🩷💖
Sharon here.... I enjoyed the shopping for garden flowers and bushes. Working in the garden is so relaxing even if entails a lot of work! I will look forward to watching the garden grow. See you both next video... 👍❤☺
I so enjoyed this episode gorgeous plants 🪴 and tree 🌳 your both such hard workers 😅next year there will be much more beautiful color flowers 💐 for all your toil …..Amazing
Hi Ladies!☺️ Patience is a virtue Alex! And you have it by the shed load! Great team work! 👍 thank you for a lovely relaxing video. It’s nice watching someone else doing all the hard work.😂
Lovely update! Just watch with the Rhododendron as it likes to spread into woodland habitats sadly despite being non native, but it's great to see you both being green fingered! Those giant teabags you both made are HUGE! You'll need a sport's direct mug for sure 😮
Another special Lost Tower Diaries, hard work tying up all that hay ! Love the flower choices, some of my favorites 😊when they all bloom in the spring, glorious ! Thank you so much for sharing, this channel was such a great idea, I really love it. Also, I wonder if you could tell me the name of your opening song, I would love to have it, makes me all happy inside. Love the flute too ☺ Hugs to you both 🥰🥰 xx
Alex, Gail, besides mudlarking, working in the garden is the next best thing on a day like that. Looking forward to next year to see the progress of those tree cuttings you planted
I do love this new channel! Your constant work around your home is very time-consuming but also satisfying with the results. I live on the wqest coast of the state of Washington (right on the beach!) where rhododendruns thrive. We are just getting our first taste of fall, with flower baskets dying back, sunflowers blooming, and most plants going dormant. We have also just entered the rainy season. Only tall fences allow us to enjoy roses...our deer think they are candy! I love your property but the trade-off is all that work. I hope you continue to share these wonderful days with us.
Wow you Two wonder women amaze me on how hard working and determined you are to get your jobs done. You should listen to some music to help you along with all your hard work. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and all the work entailed to keep it up.
I wish I loved to garden but alas the gene petered out by the time I came along. I love to watch others do what they love as you two clearly do,thank you for sharing it with us all. 🙂🐈⬛🐈🌈💖
The plant that produces that miracle grow potting plant soil is just down the road from my place here in north Texas and in late winter they have acres and acres of palettes of that stuff waiting transporting and I guess it’s world wide.
