Nicely done, Ladies. I'm impressed that you did the first practice run for us. A sign of a fierce artist. It may take a bit of time for the Shwoos, it's new to them. Perhaps the scent of the solder? : ) My late Aunt was told by her stained glass instructor, that certain techniques she wanted to try, just were not and could not be done. She broke all the rules and all of her stained glass work was fabulous! .
They are beautiful! I particularly liked how the patterned glass made the tree look like pine boughs. It is so wonderful to take garbage and give it new life.
Gail: "You just need to be brave" - snaps piece of glass Me: "And have a tourniquet within reach" Hey they didn't fall apart and for a first attempt that is called a success. Fun video. :) Have a great weekend! x
Oh ladies ☺️!!! Your ornaments are simply beautiful 🥰!!! For first timers to stained glass work you did really, really good 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Loved watching your kitten meow snoozing and snuggling by the fireplace 😻😽. 🕉️☮️😉🤗🤭😘.
That's a fantastic picture of you two when Alex was a young child -- photos are such great memories frozen in time (in addition to the artifacts that you find). Hoping that you all have a great and happy Christmas -- and that the boys can share it with you (I see that the restrictions are tightening up even more in the UK).
Mince pies looked delicious in a very cosy, festive home - Happy New Year! Stay safe, and here's to many more Great Adventures over the next 12-month! 👍🦘🙏🥂🎅🎇✨
Don't be so harsh on yourself! I think they look amazing, especially because this is your first attempt ever. If I tried this for the first time it would turn into nightmare. 😁
Hello Ladies, as usual your artistry is beyond compare and you seem to have a wonderful time creating all your beautiful objects. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your creative processes. Much affection from New England.
They look great ..It’s a hard skill to learn but the most special thing about it is the fun you have finding the glass!the time spent together and most of all the precious memories you make every day ..So keep trying new things you will get better each time 🥰
These lovely decorations remind me of my mothers cookies, back in the 1970s! She would make dough shapes, like snowmen, wreaths,or Christmas trees, and would pound into powder, hard candies(boiled sweets),and fill in the open spaces, and bake. The candy would re-melt into glasslike sheets. The result were stained glass cookies!! They were magical.
Thank you both soooo much for continuing to show and create right in front of us....so many different ideas, and wonderful gifts to buy and give to one another...you should be on TV.also bring out your very own magazine or book to celebrate your current success 😃😁 My fav mother and daughter team Penny xx
Think you're first attempt at stained glass ornaments are great and will look fantastic on your tree with the lights sparkling through. How disappointing that the schwoos did not approve this time. I'm sure they will approve when you have the correct flux 😉😄 Well done on another great film.
It must be so lovely to have a mother with similar interests. ❤😊 I've only ever crafted by myself as I know no one close by who shares my love to create. As I am mostly bedridden and haven't been able to leave my flat in 12 years due to disability and illness, I haven't been able to travel to my crafty online friends abroad either... Your videos are so wonderful and wholesome to watch!❤
How Lovely it is to watch you two work. Especially knowing that you ‘Larked’ the main ingredients and turned them into such nice things! It was VERY good for your first go. And if you ask me, you beautiful Northern Mudlarks are living the Dream! Thank You for sharing with us. 💎
I think you did a very good job. I can't wait to see more of this type of work plus I would love to see you make more glass beads, put them in your shop , nothing would make me more happy than to be able to own some of your very own heads you made. I would love to have a pair of earrings of big glass beads you made by hand. Oh please get a peacock for your peahens the white one wants to be a mom so bad, lol.
Try using a thin round metal rod - such as a knitting needle - put the scored glass on it in the manner of a see-saw and press down with gloved hands and the glass should snap. The scored line runs directly along the top of the rod of course. The rod needs to be on a firm hard surface such as a piece of hardwood.
I was going to suggest the same thing. I was a glazier for ten years 😊 If you do more stained glass, invest in a pair of glass pliers. They have a wide mouth without serrations. You can also get different thinknesses of copper foil 👍
Lovely video. For a first attempt and from someone who has never attempted anything like this, I think you did an amazing job. I love the mum and daughter bond you have and the love you have for crafting. Stay well and stay blessed. 😘
Sharpe markers to draw your pattern on the glass where you are going to cut... Alcohol will rub it off... Pliers help snap smaller pieces use a spot of fabric or leather to cushion the pliers
Beautiful stained glass Christmas ornaments ladies! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas 2022.
You ladies spend lots of time putting your pieces together. There is so much appreciation in your work.

Hello Ladies, as usual your artistry is beyond compare and you seem to have a wonderful time creating all your beautiful objects. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your creative processes. Much affection from New England.
For your first attempt at a craft that takes a certain skill, I think they were amazing.

I forgot to mention,
There is a special metallic"tape" called desoldering wick which you can use to remove excess solder.
Cheers,
Rik
Gail your cottage is darling
Whatever you create, it's beautiful. Crafts, art, jewelry, it's all beautiful. Great work!

And cut resistant gloves please. Like the ones used a while back for digging up the buried glass.
I was going to suggest the same thing.

Also, an oil filled cutter works better than a standard cutter 😊
